Saw Gato perform Yesterdays and Marnie in that order, as in the album, at the Roxy in Hollywood CA., in 1976. I was 16 at the time and have loved his music ever since. A true musical and international legend.

His sound, tone and presence is warm and I had the opportunity to see him perform in New York countless timesl! Each time mesmerizing.. Most memorable were his performances at the Bottom Line in Mercer street early 1970's. He would arrange musicians from Latino America that performed the Chapter 1 thru 3 series.

You would not play 'Evil Eye' no matter how many times I shouted! RIP

When word hit town that this new force named El Gato happened...we all went to listen. Wow were they right. His renditions of Marnie is unquestionably beyond compare. I pay tribute to you Gato, thanks for the memories and your constant pursuit of the sublime.
