Super helpful. Used to know how/have the guts to drop vert in the 90’s. Been slowly getting back into skating at 54, local area has fun parks. Successful vert roll-ins make me want to drop in again, but age has me working up to it carefully. Info helps a lot. This video is awesome!
I wish my local park had such a mellow quarter pipe my first time dropping in is gonna have to be on something a little steeper like that ramp behind you in the video this video is giving me confidence I feel it’s gonna happen for me soon
Just fell down by stomping to hard. Good to see that you mentioned that on the video. It's easy to teach to stomp hard as it helps getting over the fear of bigger QP but doesn't help in the end as you loose balance faster.
Got you a new sub. Great tutorial! I’m in the process of learning this rn. I love how you touch on where to look. Super important. The ball of the foot is something I hadn’t considered either.
I am still working on it, but slowly. I see my prev comment was 6 months ago. I tried to drop in a bowl yesterday and slammed; rung my bell! It was worth it. I am making progress at least.
That's a scary one,bs smith stalls for example are mentally easier to me😂 Thanks for this video, i know that it's easy physically but it's nice to see someone really explain it and giving helpful tips,i'll try to work on those soon🙏
Question: for the back foot, is your weight more in the arch and ball of the foot, or on the outside of the foot on the pinky side? I seem to like to keep the board locked in with my weight on the pinky side, then shift my weight onto the ball after drop in. Been trying both ways, but not sure which is better.
I feel like bigger stuff is easier to drop in on. Some parks have some ridiculously tight transition on the smaller quarter pipes. Deceptively challenging.
When you drop in you don't stomp down, that is for straight flat ramps. With quarter pipes you go in and bend your knees, commit, that's it. Stomping will make you fall
On big ramps I always found touching the nose of the board with my leading hand to help me lean forward. Never went wrong.
That's a good tactic!
This is actually a great tip bro thanks
It definitely helps
Wow thanks dude. That made dropping in super consistent and comfortable

Same here, the park near me just have two massive bowls that make my chest tense up whenever I skate by. I'm looking for a place with something milder
my park is the same, i still haven't but everyone that learned to drop in there developed balls of steel

@03:57 Ohhhhhhhh! Never heard it put that way before it makes perfect sense now.
Great tips on matching the angle as you stomp down, and using the ball of your front foot.

Thanks for subscribing! And thanks so much for the positive feedback! Hope this helps you get your drop ins down 💪
Well explained I think this is the only video on youtube where every movement is explained. Really educational.
Thank you!

I tore my MCL trying it the first time. Dropping in is really more of an accomplishment than people give it credit for.
Brand New deck huh? Nothing better.... I subscribed and im getting more into this Channel each day! U're the best Tom! Tks
Thank you so much that means a lot to hear! 🙏
Great tutorial!
Will try it - thanks !!!!!

Name a quarter pipe trick you hope to see a future tutorial for! 👇
Backside axel stall, frontside as well
Maybe feebles, dan corrigan said that they help with feebles on ledges, but really everything will be great when it comes to your vids
Lol im watching this after broken my hand trying to do a drop in. Great tips tho 💀
Did you have wrist guards on? I'm curious if it's still possible while wearing them
Thanks))

tutorial fs disaster next???
360 front shuv!
On flat.....🤣
@@benllewellyn1887 haha on a QP would be nuts! That trick is so sick on flat though. To me laser flips are easier...
@Tom's Tutorials it's my dream trick! Can't do lazers either, so that would be a good trade 🤣
@@toms_tutorials Can you please do a tutorial on Laser Flip Tom? :)
@@adrinshari5447 definitely! It's only a matter of time.
Bro earned a new subscriber for being so thorough in explaining everything, thank you homie g 🫡
