The two keys that helped me were: learning tail stalls first and then, when dropping in, putting my lead shoulder over the nose before pushing my front foot down. Great coaching tips, Sarah!
Dropping in on a rollin feels more comfortable because your back wheels are on the ground but in actual fact it is more difficult because your back wheels are on the ground. You have to be very fast yet controlled so the board doesn't start rolling before you touch down but doesn't shift backwards either. I learnt to drop in just like this - worked my way from steep bank, to rollin, to quarter pipe. If you can drop in on a rollin you've got it on a quarter pipe.
Just started skateboarding at 38, to make my teenager dream come true. I’m currently trying to learn how to revert, and how to drop in, and you are very helpful! Thanks for the videos, Sarah!
How’s it going? I’m 21 and starting as well since I was more scared a few years ago. 😭 I finally learned how to do ramps and everything except just need ollie and drop in to begin the real experience
For me another intermediate practice step between rolling down on an obstacle (still flat banks for me) and dropping in, is to start in a 50-50 position. You have do a mini turn to move the board so it’s scarier than a roll down, but less scary than the full drop in motion.
Great video and tips on progression. You may have conquered this by now, but one think I see is that when you drop in your arms go flying up and backward. You want everything going forward throughout the drop-in. Hands out in front of like driving a car or bike. Have them fly up and back makes it more difficult to keep your weight forward, arms weight a lot. Also, when your arms go up you tend to stand up straighter. It will feel much more stable if you stay low throughout the drop in. 1) stay low with bent knees, 2) keep both hands out front and low.
Great video Sarah. Learning to drop in is probably the scariest thing to do in skating but as soon as you do it you feel amazing. Can’t wait to see what you learn next.
Thank you! I’m glad you liked the video. Yes, I loved dropping in after I got over the fear. It feels awesome. I really wish there was more transition around!
Thank you Sarah. Did mine first 4 foot qtr ramp today. Your video is extremely helpful. Took me 5 sequential days of practice from baby banks, to bigger and bigger banks, to a two foot mini ramp, 3 feet. Finally gained the skills needed for me to "commit". Bodied twice helped with my success on my third try. And, yes, Gravity hurts.
great video, i'm used to snowboarding and just recently started skateboarding on skateparks and i'm very terrified of dropping and yes i've fallen😂. even though i am comfortable riding around my board and landing ollies and shuv its, i am deathly terrified of dropping in. this video motivated me to conquer my fear of dropping in. thanks for the tips!
For me, starting small and knowing that with my pads on I wasn't really in any danger made it a lot easier to try. The worst that would happen was a small tumble, but as a skateboarder that's just part of the sport.
I did those exact steps last week for an entire session and was able to drop in at the end of the day, so first hand I can recommend doing this! Also, when you feel comfortable with the bigger banks, taking a video of yourself doing it can really boost confidence, seeing that my technique was good made me feel much better
Great video as usual. Lucky for you, you didn't wipeout on your first 6 tries like me. The fear has settled into my brain now, so dropping in is basically not on my list anymore.
Haha not on these. But, I’ve freaked myself out over other tricks. I normally take a few months break and start over from the beginning. They’re there if you ever want to try for them again 🙌
great video!! so happy for your journey with dropping in , thank you for sharing it ~ all bits i've learnt so far in skating and am actually consistent with was through breaking it down into mini steps as well and practicing my way from the smallest to the biggest until i got really used to it and it was fine :) i'm sure it'll work well for dropping in, too! and i totally agree that building confidence until ready is so much more sustainable than just committing terrified.
Thank you! Yes, I think we (skaters) are often in a rush because we want to progress quickly, but I find myself progressing faster when I take it slow. My mentality is always “learn slow, progress fast”😄 Its cool to hear you skate in the same way with mini steps. Confidence building and mini steps are key I think!
@@SarahParkMatott ahh haha so true! always in a rush to progress quickly!! but i do try to remind myself that i feel a lot more satisfied when i slow things down and take my time to learn it well, even if it sometimes feels silly to do so.. ~ the bits i 'learnt' rushy rushy are still v high anxiety and begging to be broken down into smaller chunks so my brain + body can get used to it 😅

Thank you for sharing this. I have been skateboarding for about three months and I am hoping to be ready to learn to drop in soon. It looks so intimidating but I know I can do it, and it will really level up my skating once I have mastered it!
Well done recovering that drop in where you didn’t lean forward enough and manualed down it @ 2:57! 😅 If that was a 40 year old man (me) it would’ve ended up being a proper back breaking coccyx slam! 😂 Good advice and good skating. Keep it up you’ll progress in no time 🤟🏻
I've tried dropping in several times and I busted my chin and elbows multiple times... I still haven't quite got it yet but this video definitely helped! Thank you so much for sharing this, Sarah 😊
This is what I'm scared of, I really wanna drop in on my local halfpipe but I'm scared I'm going to lose balance at the bottom of the ramp and end up eating steel. But I'll get there eventually 🙂
Once you get good at dropping in you can control your speed on entry a lot more too. You can drop in slowly without sliding out backwards, to enter with low speed. Or you can stand up as tall as possible, and tuck in as you push down with your front foot and drop in with loads of speed. I love this variance in dropping in. But it comes with confidence and control so it can take a while to get to that point.
Thank you, I just dropped in on a 4' quarter within an hour of starting this method. I picked up skating again at 31 this year, after a 15 year break, and could never drop in as a kid!
Your videos are great ! I started skating again after nearly 20 years now being 48 years old. Thanks a lot. Your videos remind me of many things I did back in the days and forgot totaly. Hey, when I was 18 I could drop in on a 5ft wooden quarterpipe. Now that I'm 45 it scares the hell out of me. I just left my local skate park where I busted my a$$ twice in an attempt to drop in on a 3ft concrete half pipe. I didn't try again and now I'm feeling the pain of defeat. I gotta get this.
Have waited for a few months myself before starting the process of learning to drop in. Really like the method you present in this video. Tried it today just on some inclines and slopes. It wasn't until I brought the trucks closer and closer to the edge, until the wheels were right on the edge that I almost ate concrete. Really lost my nerve and couldn't do it anymore. Then I rewatched your video and am feeling relieved after you said not to rush it. Will try again another session and just repeat and keep moving on to higher ramps. As always thank you for your insights!
Totally! It takes everyone a different amount of time to feel comfortable dropping in! And just warming up and "dropping in" as much as you can on all the inclines that you can will help you build up that confidence over time! :D No need to rush. I'm glad you're still motivated to keep trying! 💪 You'll definitely get it.
I just tried dropping in for the first time today on about a five foot half pipe. I didn’t stomp the front down and I just about dislocated my back hip. Baby steps people!!!!
Also if you don't have any slight ramps you can bring a friend and hold on to their hands going down and then one hand and then eventually no hands with them there in case you fall
This was a really good tutorial, rather than just explaining the steps of how to do it, you actually broke down which ramps you practiced on and how each of them felt
dropping in is the most scary thing if have ever done! i have really good board control.i have always been a street skater and never touched a ramp or half pipe in 6 years of skating. can do tre flips, varials, nollie and switch stuff, but dropping in took me MONTHS! i had build up so much anxiety that i took it with me into my daily life... only thinking about a drop in caused stress. one day i just made the decision that i am gonna do it today! i had enough! since i could not ovecome my fear I just kept being afraid until my brain could not produce any of the chemicals any more that cause fear... that was really awefull! i basically fatigued fear. i stood for like 3 hours, with breaks in between with my board under my feed on the coping to get used to the feeling...marinating in terror... i am not kidding! heights are not my thing and then putting all your weight into a "fall" felt like a life threating situation. at the end i was mentaly completely fatigued to the point where there was nothing left put the present. no thought, no emotion.only the sensation of my body and suddenly i did it! shows how powerfull the mind is! after that i still was afraid of dropping in but i could overcome it way more easily because now i knew how it felt. first few drop ins did not feel good tho. i guess i am a born street skater! i never was this afraid of any ledge or stairset! just feels more natural to me.
yay im so happy for you!! im just a beginner girl skater and im comfortable with my board rn, i went down a ramp the other day i was so proud of myself. currently im still trying to ollie i think i almost got it i just need a lot more practise and yea!!
This is really great Sarah! so thank you! I have only tried dropping in once, and slammed pretty hard (on a 4foot) all your steps look great for building confidence and improving technique. next session I'll give your plan a go and try again on a smaller 1/4 pipe. 👍
My local park has some mellow slopes which I have been able to drop in on. The biggest slope I can ride down but every time I have tried dropping in, the angle makes my back wheels move before I can slam my nose down. As for the tiny half pipe ramps I fall when trying to ride from the bottom. They feel so different to the slopes.
I’m a pretty anxious beginning skater. There’s something cool about being deathly scared of a new obstacle and somehow getting your mind over that fear and then letting muscle memory take over. I’m taking about a small curb and straight ramp at the moment 😆. But my goal is to conquer this gnarly pump track at my local park, and eventually big bowls.
Thank you! Glad you liked it😃I mostly use my gopro8 for my skate clips (especially anything filmed outside). So I used that and then my partner also filmed my first drop in with my iPhone10 ☺️ so, both were used here. Not sure which angle you meant!
@@pedrolara875 ah that drop in!! Yes. That was filmed on the insta360 one X. It’s a great little 360 camera, and now the company made some great updates to it! And have 2 different 360 cameras too.
my first drop in was such a big mistake my friends just made me go on a quarter pipe and I tried doing the trick despite I was very uncomfortable and nervous(there also were a lot of people) as a result I’ve broken my wrist💀 ahh it was so silly. now I understand that you need to do everything step by step with a confidence
I work at a skatepark and i tell all the kids that come in when they want to learn to drop in for the first time to go and try it on the smallest bank we have before dropping in on the real stuff we have, i almost broke my tailbone the first time i ever dropped in, i could have used a coach like you when i was starting out, would have saved me alot of pain! Where was that skatepark in the video located? that looks like a nice spot to shred
Oof, sorry to hear that was such a close call! That would have sucked. Glad you were okay. This park is in upstate new york. Right outside of Syracuse. 🙌
5:41 no coping is kinda scarier to me?? haha Maybe it's all in my head but it feels like the coping keeps the trucks stable. I've dropped in at 2 ft which was the smallest mini ramp they had and once I got the hang of it it was not scary. But then 3 ft was still nope for me. :') It really is totally psychological since the technique is the same. Anyway, these are great tips. Dropping in on banks and curbs and other places helps a lot to get comfortable.
You know what? I think so too. Without coping it kind of feels like you might slip down..and I did once. I can't believe I dropped in on that 😂 Unfortunately, that big quarter (I think it might be 4 or 5ft) was the smallest one. So, it is 100% psychological. Just working and working on the smaller ramps built up my confidence more than anything. It's really a confidence building exercise that I described here 😂 And doing them right after one another helped a lot. The next time I went I dropped in on the smaller stuff again first. It really helped. I'm sure you'll be able to move up to that 3' when you feel more comfortable and confident!!💪
@@calmeriver Thank you Bri! Learning and teaching have always been the biggest part of my life--maybe the best part 😃 happy I can keep doing those things!
i know how to roll in and whenever someone at the park rolls in stop and ask them how to and then do it but this year im afraid to admit my biggest fear is rolling into the pipe. i give myself adrenaline with rapid deep breaths and then i can begin the process.
Hii! Ty for this video :D I’m learning how to drop in tomorrow :D I wanted to do it before but I didn’t have the confidence to do it haha, I tried it 4 times tho while a friend was holding my hand and the 4th time it went pretty decent I guess hahaha, but the next time I wanted to try I was scared again ahahah, and I didn’t practice on other obstacles before that, only like a reeeaally small ramp But tomorrow I will use your tips and hopefully be able to do it :D Also my name is Sarah too :)
Hi Sarah! I hope the drop in goes well! They are pretty scary at first. So, I definitely found dropping in on small ramps and banks first to be a huge help. Just gives you lots of practice and lots of chances to practice that drop! Good luck 💪
I tried to drop in a few months ago and I did fine. Tried to do it again and fell backwards. Winded myself badly and hurt my tailbone. I sounded like a whale lmao. Now I'm terrified.
aw yeah..I'm sorry to hear that. I have had pretty good luck with dropping in. But, I rolled my angle really badly doing rail flips a twice in a row, and it took me about 6 months to get the courage to start working on them again. Sometimes that really gets you for a while...but you have all the time you need to work back up to it when you feel ready. You got it 💪
i tried dropping in 4 times yesterday and absolutely ate it all 4 times. got a bruise on my hip and feel sore but once i feel better im going right back to try again. ive already watched like 10 videos on how to drop in. i keep not stomping hard enough and end up manualing down and falling back or flying forward lmao. all my skatepark has is a 3 foot metal ramp
I can relate to having a local park without a lot in it to help with transition. I've moved a lot the last few years, and it's always luck of the draw with parks. My new local park only has transition over 5ft. 🤦♀️ Won't be dropping in again for a while haha But, you'll definitely get there. If you're brave enough to try 3 more times after eating it, nothing can stop you with some practice 💪
@@SarahParkMatott ya i know what i did wrong now. Just gotta bend my knees and have my front foot sideways (it was forward) and then slam. Cause i saw the videos of me falling and i leaned really good and kicked really good on my last try but i was standing straight up so even with my front leg fully extended my front wheels still didnt hit lol. Also i was wrong. My ramp is around 4 feet not 3 lol
@@kiroshi7364 oh yeah. Bent knees for sure! Bent knees will save a life 🙏 but that’s also the magic of taking the time to analyze your videos. Glad you know what to work on. That’s sick💪💪
bruh, I had a perfect chance to do a half pipe tried to commit immediately but in my head I was just so terrified , I even tried dropping In on a slope that was 5 inches smaller and I even got as high as the corner slope of the half pipe but I had more fear than confidence and I bailed most the time, instead of building up I'm used to just DOING IT, JUST DO IT, until I actually do it but this time I just couldn't and won't home feeling completely let down in myself but I'm going to take on your advise and work my way up.
Ah I can’t really remember the hours. What I do remember is that I was prepped up enough that I did not feel terrified at the top. It was more a mixture of nerves and excitement that I might be able to do it.
you skate better than me. You are ready to start skating that bowl behind that 1/4 pipe which I find easier to drop into than small 1/4 pipes. just squat down a little more get your chin out over the nose of your board and dive into the bowl keeping your shoulders parallel with the wall. may want to learn how to pump the transitions first though
Haha I appreciate the confidence you have in me! But the bowl behind me is 6 feet or more I think, way too high for me still. I did try to work on pumping in that bowl. But it is really narrow and has super rough ground on the bottom. It isn't exactly beginner friendly 😂 I'm not going to give up though, since transition looks so fun. Trying to find some transition locally I can use 😃
I don't have a coach, but I do love trying to analyze skating and break stuff down, find new ways to trick myself into landing a trick. I love the whole process 🙌 I'm not sure how to master skateboarding, but you'll get better and better if you're consistently out skating 💪
your videos give so much motivation and confidence 🔥 I still have the fear of a drop in since I fell two times pretty hard on my one buttock. I can do a drop in on a bank but a ramp seems to be a mental problem😢 oh by the way which language do you speak in the video clip?:)
LIKE I WENT TO DO IT HAD ALL THE CONFIDANCE IN THE WORL THEN I ATE IT AND HURT MY MY ANCLE SO BAD AND I LOST ALL MY CONFIDANCE didnt mean to put that in caps and i had 3 hrs and had no confidance after i fell for 2 hrs
ah, sorry to hear that. I've done that with other tricks. Taken such a slam that I took months off the trick. Hope you can build back up some confidence to do it when you want to! 🙌
Me: Wants to learn to drop in Skatepark designer: "this park isn't for beginners, we're going to make every quarter 5 ft and higher." Been to so many skateparks where there is no transition in quarter pipe heights. They'll have a 2ft and then straight to a 6 ft bowl.
@@SarahParkMatott I recently learned how to pump really well and it has really helped me get used to different sized quarter pipes. If there is a mini ramp, half pipe, or just 2 quarters across from each other that are close enough I can pump up and get used to getting up to the coping on taller stuff that I wouldn't drop in on. It's not the same as dropping in of course but it has helped me get better at transitions and making sure my weight placement is correct. Skating towards a quarter and rolling down fakie doesn't really help with dropping in but if you can roll into another quarter fakie then when you come back down you're riding the same way you'd drop in. Pumping back and forth allows you to get more practice getting the feel for how to have your weight distributed and where to have your body when you're going down a quarter. I was way better at going down quarter pipes fakie than I was regular because you get so much more practice going that way.
20 years ago I dropped in in less than 5 mins, but i ate so much sazzbot I have not been able to muster up the courage to do it again. I can roll in on a bank, and have simulated the drop in on the bank, but when I stand over the railing with board in position, I look down it a say no fn way! back to the bank. lol HELP ME PLZ!
That's what i would do! I'd keep going back to the bank and then try to learn anything I can on the quarter pipe like kickturns and such! Just to get more and more used to it and build up more confidence! 🙌
* Me wanting to drop in * My brain: Come on, just do it, you won't fall. My legs last minute: Nope 🙅♂️✋ Me: Skids down ramp on tail Also me: falls off forwards and lands on chest * next session wanting to drop in * Me: Nope 🙅♂️✋
The two keys that helped me were: learning tail stalls first and then, when dropping in, putting my lead shoulder over the nose before pushing my front foot down. Great coaching tips, Sarah!
Yeah! Putting your lead shoulder over the nose is similar to grabbing it, just that extra reminder to lean forward. That’s great!!

This was a really good tutorial, rather than just explaining the steps of how to do it, you actually broke down which ramps you practiced on and how each of them felt
🙏🙏thanks!
Thank you so much 😃😃
Hey Sarah Great Video! Thanks for making the video and sharing your technique regarding overcoming the fear of dropping in.
The best advice i think. I tried 3 times to drop in a quoter pipe last time and falling hard. But next time i will use ur advice, thx a lot!
Aw, sorry you fell! Falling hard is not a fun part of skating at all. But I hope this helps you get it next time 💪
@@SarahParkMatott yes captain)) i'm sure of it! thx ;)

Thanks for the tips ! I am really scared of dropping in. I will try your method ! Your voice already calms me down :)
Take all the time you need! Dropping in is super scary! 💪
@@SarahParkMatott , thanks
Great work, and super relatable, and logical advice. Gonna try this process tomorrow morning.
Thank you! Hope it helps 💪
dropping in is the most scary thing if have ever done! i have really good board control.i have always been a street skater and never touched a ramp or half pipe in 6 years of skating. can do tre flips, varials, nollie and switch stuff, but dropping in took me MONTHS!
i had build up so much anxiety that i took it with me into my daily life... only thinking about a drop in caused stress.
one day i just made the decision that i am gonna do it today! i had enough!
since i could not ovecome my fear I just kept being afraid until my brain could not produce any of the chemicals any more that cause fear... that was really awefull! i basically fatigued fear.
i stood for like 3 hours, with breaks in between with my board under my feed on the coping to get used to the feeling...marinating in terror... i am not kidding! heights are not my thing and then putting all your weight into a "fall" felt like a life threating situation.
at the end i was mentaly completely fatigued to the point where there was nothing left put the present.
no thought, no emotion.only the sensation of my body and suddenly i did it!
shows how powerfull the mind is! after that i still was afraid of dropping in but i could overcome it way more easily because now i knew how it felt. first few drop ins did not feel good tho.
i guess i am a born street skater! i never was this afraid of any ledge or stairset! just feels more natural to me.
yay im so happy for you!! im just a beginner girl skater and im comfortable with my board rn, i went down a ramp the other day i was so proud of myself. currently im still trying to ollie i think i almost got it i just need a lot more practise and yea!!
You're the best. Thanks 🙏
I'm 31 and Sarah is my hero.
🙏🙏😂
This is really great Sarah! so thank you! I have only tried dropping in once, and slammed pretty hard (on a 4foot) all your steps look great for building confidence and improving technique.
next session I'll give your plan a go and try again on a smaller 1/4 pipe. 👍
Congrats from France !
Nice you really help me a lot
THANK YOU for this video❣️
Thank you so much for this! Very helpful, will try tomorrow :D
Thank you! I hope it helps you get closer to dropping in! 😃💪
hey! What skate park is at 5:02? I recognized one of the parks in your videos but none of the rest. Thanks!! Great tips btw.
Thanks! This park is in New York. Onondaga Lake Park.
this video helped me so much!!!! thnx!!!
awesome vid! this inspired me a lot
also you speak korean! are you korean?
Thanks!😃 I’m glad you liked it. I studied Korean in college and lived in Korea for three years. So, I became rather proficient.😂
You are very wise to learn this way.
💪💪
My local park has some mellow slopes which I have been able to drop in on. The biggest slope I can ride down but every time I have tried dropping in, the angle makes my back wheels move before I can slam my nose down. As for the tiny half pipe ramps I fall when trying to ride from the bottom. They feel so different to the slopes.
Yeah, it definitely takes a long time. But you got it 🙌🙌
I’m a pretty anxious beginning skater.
Ahh in time, you definitely will 💪💪 hope to hear you did some time too!
This is so dope
I can go down on the ramp but dropping in gives me so much anxiety..
my favorite part is that you give a list of enabling skills to work on first. seems a lot of bro vids skip that part. your way is better. thank you
Glad you liked it Sean! Thanks :D
Rolling back down on a vert still messes with me for some reason. I keep slipping and busting my self up
@Sarah Park-Matott
Awesome video! Hey, what camera did you use when recording yourself during the dropping in? Keep up with the great videos!!!
Thank you! Glad you liked it😃I mostly use my gopro8 for my skate clips (especially anything filmed outside). So I used that and then my partner also filmed my first drop in with my iPhone10 ☺️ so, both were used here. Not sure which angle you meant!
@@SarahParkMatott About minute 3.38"... it looks different from a GoPro or iPhone...
@@pedrolara875 ah that drop in!! Yes. That was filmed on the insta360 one X. It’s a great little 360 camera, and now the company made some great updates to it! And have 2 different 360 cameras too.
Miss, you are so pretty!!!!🌻😘💋💋💋😁.you inspired me to drop in...
my first drop in was such a big mistake my friends just made me go on a quarter pipe and I tried doing the trick despite I was very uncomfortable and nervous(there also were a lot of people) as a result I’ve broken my wrist💀 ahh it was so silly. now I understand that you need to do everything step by step with a confidence
ahh a broken wrist 😭 sorry to hear that! Hope it heals up well
I work at a skatepark and i tell all the kids that come in when they want to learn to drop in for the first time to go and try it on the smallest bank we have before dropping in on the real stuff we have, i almost broke my tailbone the first time i ever dropped in, i could have used a coach like you when i was starting out, would have saved me alot of pain! Where was that skatepark in the video located? that looks like a nice spot to shred
Oof, sorry to hear that was such a close call! That would have sucked. Glad you were okay. This park is in upstate new york. Right outside of Syracuse. 🙌
@@SarahParkMatott sweet i might have to take a road trip!
The fear is the worst and the fact the bowl at my skatepark is deep asf
Thank you 😊🙏🏻
Terrified peoples unite! I'm glad you worked through this. Also, did I hear Korean and French there too?
yes! Seriously. Big scardy cat here. And partly yes? You did hear some Korean 😊
@@SarahParkMatott Ah, I mis-heard the French then, my bad. Anyways, thanks for your videos :)

Two well lol but I am slowly hoping to learn some more. Always starting and stopping. Probably studied around 6 or so 😂
That’s awesome, I truly admire the drive you have when I comes to learning something new n wanting to imporve yourself ex skating and language 🙌🙌
@@calmeriver Thank you Bri! Learning and teaching have always been the biggest part of my life--maybe the best part 😃 happy I can keep doing those things!
I landed so many times on my butt yesterday, even my head hurts from landing on the butt that much.
i know how to roll in and whenever someone at the park rolls in stop and ask them how to and then do it but this year im afraid to admit my biggest fear is rolling into the pipe. i give myself adrenaline with rapid deep
breaths and then i can begin the process.
Hii! Ty for this video :D
I’m learning how to drop in tomorrow :D
I wanted to do it before but I didn’t have the confidence to do it haha, I tried it 4 times tho while a friend was holding my hand and the 4th time it went pretty decent I guess hahaha, but the next time I wanted to try I was scared again ahahah, and I didn’t practice on other obstacles before that, only like a reeeaally small ramp
But tomorrow I will use your tips and hopefully be able to do it :D
Also my name is Sarah too :)
Hi Sarah! I hope the drop in goes well! They are pretty scary at first. So, I definitely found dropping in on small ramps and banks first to be a huge help. Just gives you lots of practice and lots of chances to practice that drop! Good luck 💪
Great Video! What language were you speaking? I'm an esl teacher, just curios.
I was speaking Korean 😃
I tried to drop in a few months ago and I did fine. Tried to do it again and fell backwards. Winded myself badly and hurt my tailbone. I sounded like a whale lmao. Now I'm terrified.
aw yeah..I'm sorry to hear that. I have had pretty good luck with dropping in. But, I rolled my angle really badly doing rail flips a twice in a row, and it took me about 6 months to get the courage to start working on them again. Sometimes that really gets you for a while...but you have all the time you need to work back up to it when you feel ready. You got it 💪
awesome chanel i found
Ah, thank you!
Thanks for the vid and what 360
Camera do you use?
Thanks! I have the original insta360 one x. The new version is a huge upgrade though 💪
i tried dropping in 4 times yesterday and absolutely ate it all 4 times. got a bruise on my hip and feel sore but once i feel better im going right back to try again. ive already watched like 10 videos on how to drop in. i keep not stomping hard enough and end up manualing down and falling back or flying forward lmao. all my skatepark has is a 3 foot metal ramp
Thank u❤
bruh, I had a perfect chance to do a half pipe tried to commit immediately but in my head I was just so terrified , I even tried dropping In on a slope that was 5 inches smaller and I even got as high as the corner slope of the half pipe but I had more fear than confidence and I bailed most the time, instead of building up I'm used to just DOING IT, JUST DO IT, until I actually do it but this time I just couldn't and won't home feeling completely let down in myself but I'm going to take on your advise and work my way up.
It’s exactly that. It’s 💯 confidence building. You got it 💪
your voice is so suitable for those slow living/ minimal life youtubers hahah
Hi Sarah. How many hours of practice did it take you to get to the first drop-in from a curved quater pipe?
Ah I can’t really remember the hours. What I do remember is that I was prepped up enough that I did not feel terrified at the top. It was more a mixture of nerves and excitement that I might be able to do it.
i did it in five min but i still scared of dropping in
you skate better than me.
Damn I gotta learn that 180 kickturns.
I am scared of learning the drop in because the smallest drop in I can find in my area has a height of 1meter. 60cm would be perfect I think
sarah, do you have a coach? how do you master skateboarding if you don't have a coach?
I don't have a coach, but I do love trying to analyze skating and break stuff down, find new ways to trick myself into landing a trick. I love the whole process 🙌 I'm not sure how to master skateboarding, but you'll get better and better if you're consistently out skating 💪
Hi Sarah, what language do you speak with your camera friend in this video? Best regards from Italy!
We were speaking Korean haha My regards to you in Italy! 🙋♀️
your videos give so much motivation and confidence 🔥 I still have the fear of a drop in since I fell two times pretty hard on my one buttock. I can do a drop in on a bank but a ramp seems to be a mental problem😢 oh by the way which language do you speak in the video clip?:)
It takes time to build up that confidence.💪 You got it! And that language was Korean :)
Me: Wants to learn to drop in
Skatepark designer: "this park isn't for beginners, we're going to make every quarter 5 ft and higher."
Been to so many skateparks where there is no transition in quarter pipe heights. They'll have a 2ft and then straight to a 6 ft bowl.
Seriously though. Most quarter pipes in any park I've ever been to are 5ft plus. Stand alone or bowl. Not very beginner friendly...
I was way better at going down quarter pipes fakie than I was regular because you get so much more practice going that way.
how was there no one at that park???
early morning 🙃
Wish I had this before last night when I ate it and then ate it so hard after trying second time....
🥲
I learned how to drop in but after successfully doing it i broke my front teeth 💀
I've been skating for 2 years and can't drop in😭
if you want it, you'll definitely get it! 💪 we all take a different amount of time and effort. Cheering for you 🙌
20 years ago I dropped in in less than 5 mins, but i ate so much sazzbot I have not been able to muster up the courage to do it again.
That was kind of a sweet manual though, lol
What language is the person behind the camera talking?
Korean :)
