Let me add context as information in English is harder to fight than it is in German:
We're not talking about a restaurant in a village, but rather an "Alm". Essentially it's a restaurant for hikers with a very limited menu. The cows would be roaming across a large area and are essentially mobile billboards. You don't look at the cows while you're sitting there to choose what you pick. Instead you're hiking, read "apple juice" on the side of a cow and think: "Hey, I'm kinda in the mood for apple juice."
The job of painting the cows was indeed performed by an actual hairdresser.

    SPOILER:
In many countries the professional hair dye is regulated so that you need to have a license/certification to purchase and legally use it. It is likely they had to use certified/licensed staff to use and apply it.

    • @jamesirvein5458
      @jamesirvein5458 8 месяцев назад +1

Specifically, some of the bleaching chemicals are regulated, at least in stronger concentrations, which is why boxed hair dye is more likely to give your new blonde 'do that lovely yellow-orange hue than going to an actual salon.

for those wondering, the default setup for a fries kapsalon is :
take a vegetable/oven tray that kebab places have
    fill with:
    fries
    doner kebab meat
salad (usual doner salad things, spicy peppers optional)
baked over in an oven with (gouda style) cheese, served traditionally with sambal and garlic sauces.
a medium one is usually around ~1000 kcal/ 4MJ's worth of food, so half an active adult woman's daily requirement. The large generally hits nearly double that.
They currently cost a bit less then a relatively plain macdonalds/burger king adults menu in most places i've seen (6-10 euros), and you can get them in pretty much every city and larger town.

@@davidbevan71 you can get it pretty much in everywhere except very small towns. If it's big enough to have a school, there should be one. it's usually sold by the doner kebab shops/turkish fast food places. some of the local "snackbars" that sell fried foods with way too big menus might also occasionally have them, depending on the owner.

Definitely more appetising than the Scottish equivalent, a munchy box. Specifics differ from place to place, but in general it's a pizza box filled with kebab meat, chips (or fries if you speak simplified English), and an assortment of deep fried stuff like pakoras and mozzarella sticks. Seen a few that do a pizza crunch (which is a whole small pizza, battered and deep fried) or battered burger patty in it

    On the "Kapsalon" thing:
There is a Station in Rotterdam, that's got the nickname "Kapsalon" (Rotterdamers REALLY love to give things nicknames). It's called like that, because it's roof ia made of kinda "crumbled" aluminium (to prevent strong reflections from the sun) and so resembles the alumunium dishes, the "kapsalon" menu is usually served in.

This is one of the three video clips we release each week from the audio version (which has 7 questions). The videos are to spread the word about the audio show, essentially.

I love how Sabrina cudnt not give the correct answer to the question "Are the diners humans or animals?", of Yes. Humans are animals, but we all know what someone rly means there... But still, logical brain demands the correct answer even if followed up by clarifier

Please bring back Lateral as one entire video. I don't like podcasts, especially when I know that there's video floating around that will improve the experience.
