When Sabrina talked about people recognizing their faces as people whose videos make them happy, I was just like YES, that is you all over! Every time I see your face on a thumbnail I get happy, and I might not be attracted to the subject matter of that video, but I’m darned if I won’t watch it anyway, because I’m here for the journey.
I appreciate how these three have fine tuned the tone of the channel. I think we “thinking” types think so long that it just becomes scrambled mess and then therefore not worthy of sharing.
What a gift to hear these two in conversation, especially as a creator in progress. This show is like Colin and Samir, except where business success is a means of being creative, instead of vice versa.
I literally stopped my run to leave this comment. “An explainer and a quest “ is the PERFECT description for that channel. Jack, I’m obsessed with these videos. They remind me why I love RUclipsrs - the craft vs the grift
This was fantastic. Two of my favorite people talking about what huge NERDS they are about creating really cool stuff. I found Sabrina through Nerdfighteria and Hank Green (before crash course was even an idea!), and Jack through Julia Nunes, all back before any of us knew that New Media would be so central in our lives and careers. Its so incredibly cool to have seen both of you grow so much. Your passion, talent, adaptability, and genuine care for the things you create, including the relationships you create with viewers like me, are truly a gift. DFTBA
I've never felt so seen by an interview. "Being obsessive" is my hamartia as well and it was so great to hear that that's shared by three creators I look up to - loving this series!!
Yoooooo this is the type of interviewing I adore🤯- where someone is not only sharing their own opinions but directing the question according to what they have actively listened to! Everybody interviewing greats pleaseee take notes! I love n adore Sabrina and her enthusiasm when expressing absolutely ANYTHING! So warm wholesome and enthralling! Digital spaghetti you’re doing THAT thing! ❤
What I love about her channel is the aren't spoilers within the first 20 seconds of a video. At most she'll go over the tittle and give the process. What I enjoy about some of my favorite channels is they allow to show mistakes and that there is indeed a learning process to things; even learning how to be okay with stuff failing in the end. In the last decade or however long, many many YT videos share the highlights and spoil the process for me.
Big thanks for starting the show, Jack - I love your interview style, both here and Dead Wax. Your respect for the creator (shown through your research) and your enthusiasm for their really brings out something special in your conversations. A massive resource for new and experienced creators alike!
I love the bit of focus on ending quickly. In at least one way to tell a good story, it sets its motivation, takes off on its journey, hits it's high point of tension and investment then quickly resolves. Too much fluff on the end just doesn't lend itself to being paid attention to.
I've really enjoyed this. Interesting conversation!!! I really like see hoe she explains her creative process and her honesty. Thanks for sharing!!! And also thanks for the captions, im deaf!!! Have a good day! Lots love!
Never heard of her. Never heard of their channel. But she is awesome, and I could watch this episode over and over. Of course I love the Casey episode and the Van episode, and I will love any interview that includes them. But this one was so great and motivating. Well done, again, sir.
i would adjust it to: is it *at least* 1% better? because we should be mindful of larger leaps in improvement. its not always so incremental and to frame it that way isnt constructive
Stumbling across this channel with Jack AND Sabrina is like my birthday coming early lol. Idk why but Jack doing a podcast makes sooooo much sense! Can't wait to see who else comes on
> sabrina's 24 > see someone my age incredibly successful > day ruined jokes aside, huge fan of answer in progress since many years! this video was super insightful
This is awesome! Very similar topics to what i bring up in my interviews with musicians great job! Also like how is this channel not much bigger considering who hosts it!
I'm not one for commenting criticism for those clearly more professional and more in contact with experts of internet (like Sabrina herself), but I just felt the need to bring this observation to light. In my humble opinion, you; as the interviewer, should ask more and preach less. Not that I don't appreciate your input, but it's generally better to steer conversation through questions instead of just blocks of back and forth monologues. In any case, I actually enjoyed your episodes and learned a lot from Sabrina's experience.
Bouncing off of what Sabrina said at the top about pressure/perfectionism, it's interesting that one of the things that puts me off of Answer in Progress is that the production is _too_ clean, and Sabrina is _too_ comfortable in front of the camera. I wonder if this is just a consequence of internet media maturing and finding its marks, or of Sabrina's years of experience at such a young age. There's an 'uncanny valley' quality to the channel for me, the formula is down pat in a way that makes me uncomfortable. My point being, production quality is nice, but I guess it isn't always attractive; I've heard many creators complaining about how their months-long-production videos often don't get as many views as their off-the-cuff, hot-take, done-in-a-day ones. Love of craft is one thing, and of course creators need to maintain it to fulfil themselves creatively, but at least a segment of viewers really only come for their favorite creators' personalities, which high production value can have a tendency to erase.
1:02:43 Thanks Sabrina for the recommendation! I got the ear hooks delivered yesterday and it feels weird not having to constantly adjust my glasses. It’ll take my brain getting used to!
Thanks for having me on the show!! The journey home without headphones was rough lol
Sabrina thanks so much for being so honest in the interview. So awesome! I definitely felt 100x smarter after speaking with you rather than 1%.
when the next vid tho
All the best for your next video ❤
Take your time. Take enough rest

Wow you’re so right. I’ve never considered that.
also Jack is a much much better interviewer
Oh look it's me 43:03
it is you, wow! glarses with glasses

1% percent better is a GREAT mindset for creative endeavors.
"Let's make this thing 1% better than we've ever done before" 🔥🔥👍
I remember being so so drawn to Sabrina's thumbnails a couple of years ago and it's so interesting to be able to know more about that now!
omg hey! great to see you here hehe 🥰

All of these interviews have been phenomenal and I am upset about how few people seem to know about them.

this episode basically teaches how to properly produce an engaging and educational video, using a digital-first, collaborative approach
I love the Progress in answer team so much! Bonus points when they are together with tom Scott.
how am I just now learning about this interview show?? this is amazing content jack! thank you 💕
OH, i didn't know about her being in crash course kids. That's so cool
"make things better 1% everytime" thats wonderful.
Answer in progress is relatively new and will be blowing up even more in future. Good luck for the next milestone 👍

She's the most ethical and transparent creator I've ever seen
Having You on the show alone, makes it a requirement for happiness to watch the show, whatever technologic production background is there 😍
This is a goldmine of information. So insightful!

Keep up the good work Sabrina!
She’s got the most endearing Jiminy Glick inflection when she gets excited. Fantastic interview.
"what can I learn from this" is why I subbed to this channel...
I love Sabrina's humor. Really enjoyed listening to this video
Very cool to see two creators I love talking about what they love doing.
Loved this conversation! Glad I found your channel!
Dude both of them are this perfect balance of dreaming and down-to-earth
drain

Great interview questions, great answers. Subscribed. Learning about the ethos behind Answer in Progress makes me appreciate it more.
i'm so fangirling

This is such a great interview and it's so lovely to get to hear the behind the scenes process of it all! Thank you!

🎉 great interview, thanks for sharing Sabrina
"Monthly is not how humans work!" Not how human productivity works. It is how human living expenses work.
this is wonderful! love the eagerness and honesty of both of them
after i found answer in progress, i realized that my sience teacher showed me her crash course videos in school.
tercer video seguido que veo. muy buenas tus preguntas y conexion con los entrevistados, muy buenos analisis. Thanks!
I’m sorry. You FOUNDED Patreon??? Respect. ❤
I'd love a interview with Ethan Nestor, his experience on youtube is quite a rare and interesting one!
Love her videos, she is perfect
> sabrina's 24

jokes aside, huge fan of answer in progress since many years! this video was super insightful

nice interview, thanks to both!
didn't realize until 2 thirds through the video that this dude be the ceo of Patreon. caught me off guard lol
Great interview!
Looking forward to next one =)
absolute loved listening sabrina she is good beyond words :)
Other people crush on Rihanna, i crush on Sabrina Cruz and Sarah Butt from LMG.
A Creator Clash joke right off the bat? Loving this interview already 😊
Amazing conversation!!
How do I make the thing in my brain into words is my daily struggle, but that's a lot because of disability, and partially because ADHD :D
40:52 it literally says it on the tin:
Answer IN PROGRESS
Anyone who skips to the end.. has 👏 missed 👏 the 👏 point 👏
Yay! I've been waiting for this video since Jack first got smacked with spaghetti!
I really like the video, but i feel this format is better fit for podcast format.
Almost all the questions in this interview have an 'or' in it .
'Did you do A or B?'
Sabrina does a great job answering but the questions are poor.
33:59 brilliant

Pov: Socrates and Plato are arguing 56:31
Truly an inspiration for all of us
Can someone please help me understand what they are saying? This conversation is too abstract for me.
Should I obsess or not try hard?
"I'm really good at obsessing"... It's hyperfocus :D
Good content+
52:27 You could say it's the type of person who is nerdy and quirky?
She seems so mature for her age
I think Gibi ASMR works in a similar way with her editor.
What about Mirabel?
54:15 did her soul just leave her body lmao

Did you invite her in so she can listen to your stories or the reverse?
😌
Michael reeves still has hope for a good editor😂
What are some similar channels like that
i wish your audio had been better balanced. i had to turn it up to hear you and then it was causing sabrina to be much too loud
Sounds balanced on my end
she's sooooo hot and smart
She reminds me of the ceo of AMD Lisa Su
This guy hosting has a really obnoxious vibe
PLEASE GET RYAN NG FILM
