Jack I do hope you make so many of these cause they are incredible. Creatives talking about creativity is so rare and these convos have been incredible for me and my creative process
The energy, the connection and the adrenaline in this conversation is just so awesome and addictive.
Jack, you are such an incredible interviewer. Your questioning and anecdotes are so supporting to your guest. Great interview!
It’s fells so precious, that I’m stopping the video and starting it, so it last a bit longer and hopefully I can retain more. Thank Jack and Van🙏🏻to taking the time.
This was an AWESOME conversation, you guys were so LOCKED IN haha
JACK SATHER!!!!
Again... wow... 🤩
Funny note: I feel like Casey played the game, and with generosity, but he didn't really care, he just went with and agreed to your proposition, while here Van seems to be very engaged and you both are entering a state of intense creativity, enjoying each other's idea and reflection, building something of a tale around art together, with a lot of joy and excitation, in synch, and with a certain euphoria to talk about your favorite subject... I felt like I was with you two, and was almost as excited than you both ! Thank you again Jack... 🙂🙂🙂
I scrolled down to see if someone else had made this observation. I'm halfway through this interview and I am enjoying it a lot more than Casey's.
@@finnd4053 ☺️👍
I love Casey and his creations on RUclips, but Van is extra special...a true soul and heart filled creator. RUclips has had a long line of creators looking to cash in. There is and will always be room and demand for authentic real people like Conte and Van. This video was so engaging
THIS! I wanted to be in this convo so bad! I feel like fed as an artist.
I also think the way they approach their art makes it so these interviews would inevitably go the way they did. Casey is the Picasso to Van's Cezanne. While Van is reading books and watching films to improve, Casey is just creating more. So while Van tends to reflect and think his way through the artistic process, Casey just brute forces it.
Van can tell you why he did something because he can remember where he found the inspiration, whereas Casey can't easily tell you which parts of the thousands of hours of imperfect footage led him to a particular choice he makes.
You two are possibly my two favorite creators on the platform, such a treat to be able to hear you guys riff off each other. Can’t wait to see more of these
This video has some of the hardest hitting bro moments.... it's so amazing to watch two creative people sharing their love for creativity and fucking relating with each other so hard
Great conversation. Enjoyed listening to this.
That was incredible! I love how genuine and honest these conversations are.
Wow this is a great conversation, probably the best Van interview I've seen
i have mad respect for Van and his videos. great interview, thanks so much for sharing
This is gold! Thanks Jack! ❤
I just adore using the Creative. Makes me feel so Creative. Im special. And very humble. And by the way: Art!!!
thank you sincerely for this video. perspective is everything. especially from artists.
Loved this convo. Especially Van’s perspective on pacing. Slowing things down. Let it breathe!!
I've had this video on my list of videos to watch for awhile and now that I've finally gotten to it, it's soooo worth it!
This just made my day... the passion in every damn word is just contagious! Thank you both
Van is so underrated in my opinion. And I swear... There's nobody else like him. He's one of the best creators in the world!!
Beau miles is another amazing creator that scratches my itch.
That was really great. Thank you both
This is a fascinating conversation we got to sit in on and listen to, between two 'makers'. That they love to break it down, analyse it, circle back, and then go again. Two people who make art because they have to, thankfully they both want to share it with us!
My two favorite Van videos are "Running Sucks" and "Fixing the Zip-Line Without Permission." I've lost count of how many times I've watched them. They are comfort videos for me. Jack, thank you for this interview!
this is the best interview i’ve ever seen
I wish I could like this video a thousand times. I learned more in this 48min then all of film school. 🤩
i appreciate how much homework there is for this video. detailed mind indeed.
This is AMAZING context for what hits you both in the feels. Resonates and I will continue to be inspired by you both in my early creator journey. And congrats to everyone that has somehow found this video. How does this not have way, way more views?
You made me comfortable putting in silence and inserting clips that people dont understand at first. I appreciate your perspective Van. You have helped me grow my spirit.
I’ve never enjoyed a video more. Thank you to you both. What a gift your work is. 🙏🏻💜
Woah. Mind blowing interview. I now don’t feel like an “odd ball” or “weirdo” so much when I get into my own flow state. It’s great to hear others talking about this stuff. Thank you!!
This one is the best Van Neistat interview on the Internet.
Dude got the skills to bring out the real gold! 🤝
ONE OF THE GREATEST VIDEOS THAT I EVER WATCHED. Two mature men talking about art, filmmaking, and being connected on a spiritual level in general.
I love both Neistat brothers, but I can't help but see that Van is the better talker and just the way that he's so excited and INTO the conversation is just so admirable
Oh my God this channel scratches an itch i didn't know i had. Jack, great call. This is awesome.
Opened this knowing nothing about this channel and I knew it had to be good as soon as the patreon guy popped up
This was an absolute joy to watch, you guys speak amazingly together.
Wow... just wow. I've only just come across your channel and the energy in this video is captivating. Two creatives breaking down their processes and discussing the hard questions and thoughts. Absolutely amazing format, I love it.
its crazy how much I learned from these interviews. love Van and Casey and its like they have a lineage from other film makers to me...a youtuber.
loved this, thanks for sharing it. speaking as a trumpet player, I can absolutely resonate with 23:43, as Miles said, "don't play what is there, play what is not there"
The mutual vibe was so strong here. Great interview.
This channel is amazing
PLEASE upload these on podcast platforms. these videos are so valuable!
Easily one of the best conversations I've ever watched. Genuinely inspiring. Thank you.
I find Van so interesting because I can relate. I would spend all day taking things apart and re-building them if money wasn't an issue. Then I'd record it :)
You two had fun talking and you successfully transmitted that fun feeling to me. Good job.
Fascinating interview.. and fantastic! I can relate hugely with tools going back to there home.. I often relate building/making/creating to sleepwalking (as in stepbrothers ‘movie’) trance like state! Where you wake up and.. WTF happened!! or even the morning after in the hangover movie! 😂 great video, big respect to Van and yourself 🙌!
Cheers Rob 🇬🇧
This series is fantastic. Jack you have a knack for asking the right question at the right time to get these creatives to really unpack their process. There's something disarming in your body language that really shows how much of a fan you are of their work, you can see how excited this makes Van, and it also makes me more invested as a viewer. Bravo, more please 👏
Two of my all-time favorite creators talking about their craft is so inspiring. Jack, thank you for making this show and for having Van as a guest.
These talks are good for my soul! Thank you!
This was amazing
Yess channel is great already
I came here to learn.
Got that and more.
Thanks for having this conversation!
Huge Van Neistat fan here (and Patron) and this interview was outstanding. I listened while working on building a custom Dremel station with some serious Spirited Man flare to it. Looking forward to more of these interviews Jack.
This is an amazing interview... Thank you so much!
Excellent stuff Jack, I'm a huge fan of Van, really enjoyed the dynamic back and forth between you two, testament to your excellent interviewing style. Looking forward to watching more
Amazing interview!
Inspiring conversation, thank you 🙏
It makes me so happy that Van gifted you one of his signature pencils.
Great video and really shows how different Van and Casey are but both come to the same conclusion, mastermind filmmakers
8 minutes in, this is so fun to watch. these two convey things so well.
this put me in a trance state of learning :)
Wow, what a great conversation!
I love van and I love jack what a treat this is
Jesus man, I’ve watched a few of these - maybe the wheezy waiter one started it. But damnit you’re exceptional. I’m really happy that you give as much to the conversation as the guest.
That probably goes against every podcast 101 idea out there, but because you’re you - I loved it. I feel like if you were a different person, I wouldn’t - and I only just met you from this video. Bravo. Someday when I’m bigger I’ll want to come on your show. But what you’re building here is exceptional!
bro PLEASE do another 5 hours, this was MAGICAL. something about seeing two late 30s/40s guys talk about art, being so sensitive and doing it so attentively and enthusiastically is something that is rare to see, it's pure magic, it's fuel, it's inspiration. The tension between being a maniac and "playing certain games" like the money/attention game is so palpable, what an incredible conversation man
You two really connect well together. I loved the vibes going while the conversation. Great interview!❤”🎉
Keep 'em coming Jack! Loved the last one and can't wait to hear what Van's got to share!
This video is one of the most intellectually stimulating/reassuring/awakening piece of work I've ever watched. 48 minutes is TOO SHORT. I am a kindergarten teacher. Among other things, I will now be teaching with "the breath" in mind, and will also teach my kiddos ABOUT the breath. Thank you Jack for introducing me to Van. Please keep doing this!
Amazing job discussing the creative brain. Thank you
This was just wonderful. I appreciate the both of you for your openness about your art. You both tell stories in unique ways and I find them fascinating. Keep going - you’re doing great work. ❤
Life changing video! Thank you!
Jack sitting with one of Van Neistats pens, that he for sure gifted him, is just so great.
Jack, this video is one those that is going to “stick”.
Keep it up, both you and Van are inspirations to my creativity 🫡
Brilliant insight into the mind of a total genius. Love Van's work, and love what you do Jack. Huge (new) fan of this channel. Thank you!!
It’s comforting and disturbing just how much I relate to everything you both touch on.
Incredible
This got me so fucking inspired! Thanks to both of you, and never stop creating and sharing your art to the world
Jack, I have been a fan since I watched you play the kid size toy piano. I’m super glad I ran across this channel from the Casey interview.
This is an incredibly valuable interview. Well done
Amazing conversation
@10:27 exactly such a godsend to hear another person talk about this so candidly. My soul is contented.
amazing questions as always, great work!
great great great, interview!!! one more: great
This was a mountain of gold.
Quantity develops ability and hones skill. Malcolm Gladwell’s “Blink” and “Outliers” has some good anecdotes relating to this. “It takes ten thousand hours to truly master anything. Time spent leads to experience; experience leads to proficiency; and the more proficient you are the more valuable you’ll be.”
- Malcolm Gladwell
Mutual fan boi's, great to see them vibing off each other
Absolutely loving these episodes, brilliant questions, brilliant creatives. Excellent content
To the point of laughter and conveying emotion, watch some musicians when they are just having fun. It is common to see someone laugh when another musicians surprises them with something tasty. Laughter is the ultimate expression of novelty imo.
5 more hours please and thank you 🙏🏻
Awesome interview. Imagine a podcast with you both...
A criminally low amount of views on this! I hope this project gets big enough to continue!
you two have great chemistry
This is sooooo inspiring!!
Loved this!
24:30 The irony is that the audio and visual go so well together that I can only listen. I have to just pause the vid and watch later 😂
Nice artist chit-chat!
Such a great interview!!!!! But this microphone failure is so sad! You improvised very well I think many people will never notice what happened.
Amazing
part 2 in the future please!

In the fast vs slow debate, there’s the argument that “practice makes progress”. You can’t make a masterpiece on day one, it takes thousands of tiny improvements, additions, removals, trial and error. I suppose it’s whether you decide to show that progression to your audience or not.
