Your organization and dedication to perfecting your craft is so inspiring! The quality of your work is personified by your true level of professionalism. Method in the madness!

Roger Marks i will guarantee you it’s about compression. A DVD illogically and simultaneously processes and plays moving, digital image. It is compressed and very under utilized. It is also extremely low quality image.
VHS has tape richness and is fully processed off the bat. It is a spectacular medium to watch film on, and is better made. Also, it has a manual component which is considered far more reliable than that of the DVD which if scratched could (sometimes) be rendered useless.
I love Casey and love his studio. Please never leave it, even now you’re on the other coast! If you did, it should be kept as a museum! Love seeing the different Casey here from the vlog Casey.
Freakin' Genius. Seeing someone who's thinking process operates virtually on the same wavelength as you sorta leaves me speechless. This is my thinking process, evolved. I just gained 10 years of organizational experience by watching this.
You are absolutely one of the most genuine and truly inspiring humans to ever walk planet earth. I mean anyone with a workspace as incredible as that would obviously have to be.
***** I remember a few times when he has said he loves feeling nostalgic, it's probably just an attachment to the time when he first started making movies. It's not too bad seeing as DVD isn't the best format to store things, but bar none VHS is the worst.
glowfishin1 It's up to debate. The obvious would be digitally on a flash drive. DVDs had very limited space and output, but contemporary SSD drives don't have such limitations. Harddrives also last for a very long time without having to be maintained and store files with no noticeable degrading or loss of quality. However your quality will be stuck at what is the industry standard at that time, this is the nature of digital recording. Just 10 years ago 480p was the standard on youtube, now we're at 1080p, no doubt in a few years most would have adopted 4k resolution. Personally I stand by 70mm or 35mm film stock due to their ready availability, relative low cost, tactility and the fact that film stock has an infinite resolution (the reason why older films from the 1920s can be remastered in 1080p or 4k). However film reel easily degrade in quality (why not many older films can be remastered), are highly combustible, arguably difficult to manage and store, and more expensive than the digital alternative. It's quite a simple conflict: digital offers you convenience and security whereas film reel offers you higher quality at the cost of inconvenience and possible quality loss over time. This is also the reason why cinemas all use digital projection instead of traditional film reels these days, few people really notice the quality difference between the two but digital storage is both safer and more reliable. Sorry for the long post this is just a topic I'm interested in (hence my initial comment).
This’ for sure gonn turn into a museum when Caesy’s no more It’s unreal how cool the studio was back in 2012 itself… there’s been soo much upgradation even till now in 2024 ❤
Wow. Recommended in 2021 and I have to say this is perfectly well put. The height of functionality bringing its own aesthetic is very well explained. Thank you for this Casey
This video is amazing, I'm saving this for my future workshop. But I have just 1 question: How do you keep everything dustfree? It must really suck to clean every single thing.
If you empty the office and mop and lean and Hoover all round, it should keep the room dust free for a while. Also, you can buy simple extraction fans that suck air through them and suck up dust GOOD LUCK!

VHS has tape richness and is fully processed off the bat. It is a spectacular medium to watch film on, and is better made. Also, it has a manual component which is considered far more reliable than that of the DVD which if scratched could (sometimes) be rendered useless.
@@robonick3607 Wrong.
M One how and why
@@robonick3607 VHS varies in quality. Theoretically it could even out do blue-ray. Its literally a film reel like a theater (think imax)
I love Casey and love his studio. Please never leave it, even now you’re on the other coast! If you did, it should be kept as a museum! Love seeing the different Casey here from the vlog Casey.
Casey would make a balling as an interior designer.
He seems to be talented in many areas.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
It's heavily based on tom sachs' studio
I wonder how much does he pay in electricity
new york life is expensive
I don't think 8 k that a bit to much
yeah prob more like 6.5k...
Why is it that high
And he gets most of his stuff for free
Freakin' Genius. Seeing someone who's thinking process operates virtually on the same wavelength as you sorta leaves me speechless. This is my thinking process, evolved. I just gained 10 years of organizational experience by watching this.
"I really hate DVDs"
"Here's all my DVDs"
They are VHS
VHS. either you’re deaf or ignorant.
@@niallcorcoran4437 Then he pulled out a dvd to show the camera. Either you’re blind or ignorant.
Niall Corcoran lol there’s a whole row of dvds underneath you moron
Comedy 😐
Anybody watching it again in 2015?
2024
This video is the reason so many RUclipsrs have tools, peg board, wall mounted battery chargers etc in their sets. Inspired a generation.
nice studio. great. no wonder everything is in order, it's more than 10 years.
You are absolutely one of the most genuine and truly inspiring humans to ever walk planet earth. I mean anyone with a workspace as incredible as that would obviously have to be.
Pizza delivery guy : that will be $12 please.
Casey : removes baseball bat from door..
In every respect imaginable (technically, practically, aesthetically, functionally) DVD is superior to VHS.
i know, right?
***** I remember a few times when he has said he loves feeling nostalgic, it's probably just an attachment to the time when he first started making movies. It's not too bad seeing as DVD isn't the best format to store things, but bar none VHS is the worst.
+Pearcey80
What's considered to be the best format for storage?
glowfishin1 It's up to debate.
That was very interesting! Thank you for sharing your expertise :-)
and would if he got evicted and had only a few days to move out.... all that shit in there
This’ for sure gonn turn into a museum when Caesy’s no more
It’s unreal how cool the studio was back in 2012 itself… there’s been soo much upgradation even till now in 2024 ❤
Casey, the type of human, who makes a rolling table out of a door. My respect.
With Casey being back, feels like time for an update!
Wow. Recommended in 2021 and I have to say this is perfectly well put. The height of functionality bringing its own aesthetic is very well explained. Thank you for this Casey
"You know, the film kinda got expencive." - the guy who spent $100 on a tape dispenser
This video is amazing, I'm saving this for my future workshop. But I have just 1 question: How do you keep everything dustfree? It must really suck to clean every single thing.
If you empty the office and mop and lean and Hoover all round, it should keep the room dust free for a while. Also, you can buy simple extraction fans that suck air through them and suck up dust
GOOD LUCK!
+White Mexican no shit
+White Mexican don't knock it till you try it
Came back to see the studio, god I miss the vlogs, please bring them back!
I swear to god, Casey is one of the most functional, productive and successful human beings in this entire nation.
So insanely jealous of this studio. Amazing!
