- Tesla is by far one of the most successful companies in modern history. They popularized fully electric cars and created a massive demand among the public. With a market cap of around 380 billion dollars, Tesla is growing by the day. But to keep up with orders Tesla built a futuristic facility called the Gigafactory. Today we’re taking a look inside the Tesla Gigafactory.
Tesla currently produces about 350,000 cars a year-far fewer than the public demands. But they have ambitions to ramp up production to more than 20 million cars a year. This bold strategy will require numerous advances in their current chain of production, including several larger factories, which are currently being built all over the world. But the bedrock of Tesla’s production line is their Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada.
The company’s first fully built factory will serve as the model for what eventually could be a dozen massive Tesla factories globally.

I toured the Tesla gigafactory a couple years ago and was completely blown away by the shear scale of it. It is astonishing what Tesla is doing.

@@x-Machina The problem with that logic is that Ai is rapidly improving. There was a change in the kinds of jobs people would do after machines mostly replaced raw strength. Ai would be equivalent of replacing the human mind. Then what would we transition into?
Do I think this will happen tomorrow? No. But someday, in the future. Just look at how fast technology has grown in the past 20 years, if that pace continues the future will be here quicker than people expect.
As someone said above me, this is not necessary a bad thing. I think at some point politics would need to take that into account and countries would start adopting a standard pay for people without jobs.
But what do I know, predicting the future is hard, and most people who have done it in the past was way off.
Torjus HT I see where you’re coming from, and I believe you voice many of the same fears most people have with AI. Where the rubber meets the road on the issue is that AI has already enriched our lives and is transforming sectors across the world, so there’s very little that can be done by a single government or a mass of government to stifle growth, meaning there’s little anyone can do to slow the progression. We have to be open to the changes that this new technology will bring because there’s very little to fight, and it will happen either way.
Take my word with a grain of salt but humans will most likely merge with AI and we’ll end up complementing each other’s existence. We won’t be the apex of existence anymore and that’s perfectly fine. It will be similar to raising a child that achieves much more in life than yourself because without us AI wouldn’t exist and there’s a beauty in being its creator.

I worked production and security at The Giga factory and on average I would walk about 15 miles for a 12hr shift ,that’s just how huge it was

The trees cut down for the GigaBerlin were not part of a forest, they were a tree farm planted for paper products... hardly worthy of criticism.

It was a coniferous woodland, nothing natural about it’s conception. A farmed crop all planted for harvesting with very limited biodiversity, as is the case in a lot of German countryside. Note the absence of hedges.
Plus, the criticism that they started building before final permits were ready is bs, because they got a temporary permit. It allows to start building, but at their own risk. If they don't get the final permit, they would have to restore the place to its original state and at their own cost. This is a completely normal procedure for constructions with a high likelyhood that the final permit will be granted.
Also, the tress were in deed just a tree farm, not an actual forrest.

It's just crazy watching this video only two months later and realizing almost everything that was an expectation at the time is already reality before the end of 2020. The pace of invention, innovation and progress is awesome.

So much potential for this company. Not only are they a good five years ahead of all other EV makers, their future in solar and battery technology is sky high. In ten years their stock could be worth ten times what it is today

Fairly balanced video. Too often reports on Tesla are either pure glowing praise or snarling hit pieces. Tesla, like any company, has its good sides and its darker sides. There are much more of each to be discussed but for what it was, this video was pretty good.

Over 50 new EV models are due in the next couple years and EV competition is only going to get harder. Look at China biggest EV market in the world dominated by Chinese EV. Tesla wont find it as easy to get market share there

Sandy Munro (Munro and Associates) recently completed a teardown of the Tesla Y and reports that current battery pack costs for Tesla are $108/kWh. With a 56% cost reduction over the next three years that cost would drop to $48/kWh.

This was a well put together video BUT most of the information was 6-12 months out of date.
The Shanghai Gigafactory started producing cars last December, and construction of the Berlin one is already well underway...
Also continually mixed up video and statements about Reno and Fremont factories.
The point of the video is to give general information about the gigafactory and Tesla, not to be a doctoral thesis

Was this video posted a year late? It says the Shanghai Giga Factory is "supposed to start production by the end of the year" but it started production end of 2019, a whole year ago.

They might even make it illegal for a person to drive in some countries for safety reasons. And tesla’s innovation rate is too fast for anybody to catch up. They are only at the start of their success. Imagine not investing in amazon at the beginning. It’s gonna be like that.
