World Weather: Mexico Heat Wave

A record breaking heatwave over Mexico for the past week will continue and shift nortthward beyond May 20th. Temperatures reached 50C (122F) in eastern Mexico last week, breaking the national heat record for the month of May.
Widespread temperatures over 40C (104F) over the Yucatan and the lowlands of eastern Mexico will continue beyond May 23rd. The heat dome responsible for this will shift northward and intensify by May 20th. This means that northern Mexico and western and southern Texas, USA will have temperatures approach 40C (104F) by next week, May 20th. Early indications show that this heat dome could continue through the end of May, bringing oppressive heat and possible record high temperatures for all lowland areas of Mexico, as well as western and southern Texas, USA.
