@@CrowBag on the contrary, it's relieving, because we saw things with child's eyes and sometimes we forget we used to be naive, positive, and flamboyant. If things looks grim make sure to get a hold of yourself and move on
@@ploppyploket4985 yeah! it was pretty neat. this game and majora's mask were my first games, and I doubt I'd have such an interest in video games had my Dad not showed me them.
Certando Erimus I’m glad you have a good father, who sounds like he really cared for you. My dad got me into video games and anime, not Zelda, but still. If he hadn’t got me into either of those, my life would be completely different. - Side note, my dad didn’t get me into Zelda, my aunt and mother did.(in all honesty I think I got him into Zelda.)
I remember I used to play every single Zelda with my dad and he used to finish every single boss cause I was bad and I never understand what was I suppose to do 😔😔
Words can not describe how much this game was a part of the saddest and happiest times of my childhood. I was 9 when my dad passed away but that year he bought me the N64 and Ocarina of time. I never really played it because it was too difficult to me. After my dad passed away I made it my goal to complete the game 100%. I played for hours and hours each day. Not only did it take away the pain of losing my dad each time I played it brought back the happy memories I had with him. To this day whenever I think of this game it just brings memories and tears of happiness. I know for a lot of people this game was a defining moment of their childhood. Whenever you play ocarina of time, each time it just brings you back to that exact time of your life when you first played it. No other game has ever done that for me
You completed a goal that was hard to achieve, a goal you were meant to complete, something you complicated is something you’ll feel about your father. You completed a adventure for your dad sorry for your loss you’ll meet him soon.
I usually don't post seriously on youtube but your comment hit me because my dad also died when I was 9, and this game is attached to sadness and happiness for me too. But mostly happiness, as you said.... I don't know man, is crazy to read that someone maybe at the order side of world lived an experience so similar. I hope you are doing great today; is hard to grow without a dad, I know... Greeting from Japan.

I remember getting this game in junior high, I didn't have a lot of friends, overweight, and just kept to myself a lot. I had told my mom and sister that I wanted this game, and when I got back home they were away. Around 6pm is when they got back, looking tired and drained, but they gave me this game for my birthday. They told me it was the last one near us, and had to drive 2 hours away to pick it up. I remember playing all night, and this song just brings back that memory. I'm 18 soon to be 19, about to enter college. My mother passed away last year, but I'm glad she got me this. I miss you mom. Edit: thank you all for your kind words. For those saying its fake, I wish it was but sadly it isn't. My mother passed away August 22nd, 2020 3:30am after suffering tachycardia and 4 strokes. She was brain dead when she died. Also, she got me the 3ds version, and I will always cherish the memory my mother allowed me to have. Thank you all again, and live a long and happy life, and enjoy your loved ones as much as possible or you'll end up like me, regretting not cherishing my mother and what she was willing to do for me.
Life is really awful sometimes but I’m glad we have things like this to return to. This theme somehow feels fitting for that kind of thought in my opinion. It covers a lot of feelings. I’m sorry to hear about your mom. Make sure to take breaks and relax, especially now. I’m 18 and finishing high school, so I can relate to the stress right now. I wish you the best of luck.
well I personally didn't grow up playing this game I definitely get where you're coming from and I probably would have done the same. For me that game was Kingdom Hearts 1 then I would just sit there with the title screen playing it's music.for most of my childhood I constantly wished I could have played a game like Zelda because there was always a longing for a game that would make me feel like I was going on an adventure. And once I got to play the game for the first time I definitely did feel that
You say it buddy I'm only 23, but now i realize how fast time is passing away. Played it when i was about seven or eight years old and my grandma watch me play Good old times
@Higher Power only botws link is on his level in terms of everything. He was a literal child soldier mounted with the weight of the entire world, and pushed through. And weve seen what became of him after he achieved the power of godhood.
This song... Dark, sobering, melancholy... Makes me think of a care free child suddenly forced to grow up into an adult before even getting to experience their childhood. Stolen innocence by a cruel and unforgiving world. Funny enough, that's what this game is really about, isn't it?
+NEON MULLET This game is about facing your fears to serve a greater good, no matter what the cost might be. A lesson that is worth more than a red ruby.
+Linkin Log Grandpa: Let me tell you a story *tells long story about him playing this wonderful game* Grandpa: And that kids is why you don't mess with f*cking cuccos.
some of my best memories as a kid are laying on the carpet next to my big bro in front of the old wooden console tv watching him play this for hours on end.. he was my hero.. now we never talk & live only 5 minutes apart.. I think I’ll call him tomorrow. Thanks Pancho D. RIP Victor
This comment will probably go unnoticed but I felt like sharing it with you anyway. I see so many comments in here talking rather somberly about missing their childhoods. While I understand that it's not always easy breezey to be an adult, I think being adult actually becomes more of a holistic and worthwhile experience when we actively keep our inner child alive and well. I don't think it's at all necessary to silence or abandon your inner childlike spirit in the slightest. Sleep a little longer, play videogames you've always loved and enjoyed, breathe deep and allow yourself the things you like and live more in the moment. See your childhood and your childlike spirit as something to protect, not to neglect. Not unlike what Link goes through in Ocarina of Time.
You're so right I just got ocarina of time for the 64 and I have it on my 3ds but whenever I hear this I feel so familiar with this game I never played zelda and got into it till a month ago and it seems like this game has always been with me I never grew up playing this because I'm only 14 but hearing this makes it seem like I've know this my while life
@@marcuslopez5370 I FEEL THE EXACT WAY, I was always a diehard Mario/ Pokemon fan, and I never played any zelda, but this song brings so much nostalgia... weird
Because that was one of the most important parts of any Zelda 3D games, and they totally remove it from the new one. Without it is incomplete, you can feel how strong just a single track is, now add 20 more and put an unique ending theme that links to this title one.
Breath of the wild is in the same place as ocarina of time just things have changed as Zelda and link are reborn over and over again. But yeah this-this game keeps me sane
I remember loading up Ocarina of Time in the early morning to play for a few minutes before going to school. The sunrise on Hyrule Field lives rent free in my mind.
You're a piece of crap for telling someone what they should or not like, dude I didn't come here to get offended over a fucking video game. I came here to remember the music.
I played this with my dad, and i remember for years i couldnt get passed the Forest Temple because my dad stopped playing, and we only had dial up internet and i didnt know how to use it... i eventually restarted the game and beat the whole game in a matter of a weekend, but i still have fond memories of playing in my dads lap and laughing with him... good times :)
the greatest moment in the game was not when this theme was played for the first time. the greatest moment in the game was when this theme was played for the last time. when you finally beat the game.
Hero of Hyrule there is a way to beat the magic of this game. 1. Go on any tf2 map 2. Tell your whole team to become engi 3. Make huge fort 4. Defend 5. Work together to stop the demos spys and medics 6. Have a good time
When Young Link walks away from the Master Sword in the pedestal of time... To me that's the most meaningful moments in all of gaming. The Hero of Time. Entrusted to a village as a baby after his mother's early death. Grows to be a care free child that suddenly is forced to grow up into an adult before even getting to experience their childhood. Stolen innocence by a cruel and unforgiving world, but destined to do so. He who saved this world that would unknownfully later be destroyed again, returns to his childhood to prevent his own mistakes. In doing so he removes the glory that was rightfully his just so that there would be peace in Hyrule. He saved Sacred Hyrule twice from Ganondorf by traveling aside Time and drove Darkness into the Light, rescued a parallel-world "Termina" from Majora. Termina was created through the Hero's OWN subconscious mind, to conquer many fears. For the rest of his life onward he lived a normal life as a Hylian Guard after giving up with failure on his search for the beloved Navi. He died lamenting. After his life his spirit helped his descendant save Hyrule and the Twilight realm and still got absolutely no credit. The Hero of Time is the most epic, courageous, and humble characters in all of gaming. Remember The Hero of Time.
@@MTingyy Wait till you read the official player's guide (which is literally a canon Zelda 64 lore book) and find out the Shadow Temple was "built from the bones of Hyrule's evil dead." This game was dark AF for a Zelda game.
@@W1ckedshort I believe it. The room with the mini boss with the hands (who def gave me and a million other kids nightmares) was covered in bones and guts. It's crazy looking back that the game was rated E.
My girlfriend and I played through this game this year! She surprised me with an N64 packaged with Starfox 64 and Ocarina of Time for my birthday. One of my earliest memories is playing Majora’s Mask at my Aunts house, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing or where I was going, but I loved every second of it, the sense of adventure. I had no prior nostalgia towards this game, and yet the experience was so profoundly positive. Getting eaten by Jabu Jabu, going on a scavenger hunt for the Bigoron Sword, slogging through the water temple, So many amazing moments. Best birthday gift ever!
Listening to this the day before high school graduation hits different. Hearing the songs of childhood right before life must change is sad but reassuring at the same time.
As a 6 year old girl I loved watching my older brother play The Legend of Zelda. I always wanted to play it but never got the chance. I just hooked up our Nintendo64 and I’m currently playing. The songs are bringing so many good memories back. Pure joy. I’m now 15, the same age my brother was when he first played and I watched. :,)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is not a game, it is a beautiful, unforgettable experience. That is why, when I hear this touching melody, I feel a sense of pure joy. That is why I love video games so much and am a diehard Nintendo fan. Nintendo's video games are not just video games, they are unforgettable memories which can be played time and time again. So many people don't understand video games and criticize people for playing them. My dad hates video games and wishes for my time to be spent on anything else aside from Nintendo. But, my heart says otherwise. ... Thank you so much Scrapper9000... for posting this unforgettable melody.
What most people don't realize is that video games can heal you. They represent a fantasy world where the player can feel important, strong, unyielding, accomplished. They allow us to escape from reality where things can be grim and ugly like a drug. They give you a sense of control and safety that no one can take from you. I remember being Link, just wanting to save the world and make everyone happy, just wanting to be him, a hero, ridding myself of my sadness with the help of a beautiful artistic heavenly world.
I was born long after this game never heard of it but last year I got the 3ds version and let me tell you I wish I could’ve been born back then to get the real Ocarina of Time experience
I was born in 2002 and I played the original n64 version in 2007 or so cause my older cousin and older brother were playing it. I remember the lights off with our big heavy box shaped tv. Wrapped in a blanket pretending like I wasent scared of some of the stuff in this game. I wish I could go back in time and just watch me, my three cousins, and my brother as we all sat with our eyes glued to the screen. Feels bitter sweet thinking about it
I was 23 when this came out. The N64 is without a doubt the console I had the most fun playing games on. This game took me a long time to finish, I was busy in my early to mid 20's and had at one point just carried on thinking I would never finish it. Then, I had a close friend pass away and I remember someone saying something about finishing an old project or something to help with the coping. So I pulled out the N64, OOT and the walkthrough book and a week or so later I was done. It was in that moment I felt my childhood and adolescence was complete (I was probably 26 or 27). Despite all the trials and successes and failures, I knew I could walk into the future with confidence and closure of all that I would then be leaving behind. It was to me truly a rite of passage. This game saw me through a lot of growth in my life and like everyone else here it will always hold a special place in my heart and my memories and my life and the best video game music ever.
same here. back when I was about 9 or 10. possibly younger. I played this along with super Mario 64, Mario kart and then eventually majoras mask. some of the greatest games ive ever played still to this day. i cant think of very many others. like yoshis story and such was OK but this game was beautifully created. couldn't have made it any better. let me know if you guys can remember any of the amazing games from back then =D
I always hate thinking this. the way this game always just grabs me can never be compared to new games. I've tried so many new games and I love them they all deserve respect and a place in my heart but this will always be number one. I'm not a critic or a nostalgia nerd I've always kept an open mind and heart to new games and I'll admit some have mechanics that far surpass this game but this game will always be my favorite
The memories man it hits me everytime and takes me back to when I was 9 on a saturday morning just playing to my hearts content and knowing I can never go back to those mornings hurts me.
does the composer of this know exactly how much of a masterpiece they made? I listen to this song since I'm 6, and i'm 28 now and it still touches my soul
Assuming this was Koji Kondo, he did an interview where he explained that he spent painstaking time tweaking and reworking the themes he wrote. I'm sure he's humble about it, but he knows how much care and effort went in.
Suddenly you wake up to this music. Then you realize that you turned on your N64 last night to play Zelda but fell asleep to this wonderful tune since you were really tired and your couch felt so cozy. You are still 8 years old. Everything until now was a dream (or a nightmare). Your mom calls you for breakfast. Everything is ok. You can start again.
@@lil_keybo I've heard a story of a teenager who fell and hit their head on a sidewalk. While unconscious they lived out years - schooling, jobs, families, I'm talking decades. They eventually thought a lamp in their living room looked weird and just... stared at it for days on end. Up until the point his imaginary wife left him. I think he got sucked into the lamp or something and woke up 15 years old again. That'll take a couple of therapy trips to say the least
It's because the game aged well. A lot of the time we feel nostalgia for something, and when we go back, it's not quite as great as we remember. But take the Zelda OOT challenge. Go back and play it. It's even better now. The graphics are still great. I'll take it over any PS4 game that exists.
To this day I literally (and I mean literally) get goosebumps every single time I load the game and get into the title screen. It's ridiculous the power the whole of this games holds over the memories of so many of us.
As we all grow up we faintly remember the feeling of running around Hyrule, running after dogs, breaking pots for rupees, playing those minigames in town. But once we picked up the Master Sword we grew up. And when we all really think about it we're just all young Links growing up too fast.
I know everyone else has shared a memory of this game and soundtrack,my dad introduced me to legend of Zelda with this game, still feels like yesterday day when I would play this game without a care in the world,he passed in 2005,but the memory of me and him sitting in front a old zenith tv playing this game is fresh to this day. Rest In Peace dad,1957-2005. His soul still lives on in this game and many others.
Everything in life grows old and dies. 100 years from now no one will remember or care. A billion years from now it'll be one insignificant moment among countless other moments in time. That's what this song makes me think about.
Michaela Burney lol I think it's safe to say that, for me, this kind of music does not remind me of such depressing hardships (even the "hardships" I've gone through in my life). Music of this "reminiscent" feel is actually rather uplifting to me. :) This one specifically serves as a reminder of how great my childhood was (at least as I remember it) largely due to this one game, among others. (Edit): You've done it again, Robert Bones. :3 You sore loser, asking to have comments deleted because you can't stand people having different viewpoints than you on the issue. scrapper9000 is right about you. :D
I never played this game. We were too poor growing up. I never even played any other game in the Zelda series. And yet, I get this strange, warm, nostalgic feeling when listening to it. I didn't even know what it was called. It was just stuck in my head and I don't know from where. I had to search for a 10 hour looped version of it on RUclips. And I found it. This is exactly what I was looking for! If it can have this kinda effect on me, I can't even imagine what it must be like to play this game in your childhood then listen to this 20 years later. Magical.
who said that only remember something can give nostalgia it got nostalgia theme to it like morning is happening but then the time flows you are thinking like surreal goku
I’m a 15 year old and I got introduced to the 3ds version of this masterpiece by my Dad and recently replayed the whole thing almost to 100% completion. People have no idea how much joy, sadness, and the feeling of freedom this game brings I could only imagine what it would be like playing this game when it first came out. Hope everyone reading this is having their best life or hopefully making the best of it just remember you are all love and with that I wish you all a good night.
@@cdfactory I hope so. If not everything in life is pointless, and we were all puppets, just there to live and die, doing nothing but living. For, what reason?

There is no good way to express the beauty of this song. It is full of magic, adventure, and mystery. I cant stop listening to it, and I relish the feelings of nostalgia and bliss that it brings back.
Thank you Link for being there when I needed you, thank you for giving me the strength to persevere and strive to make something of myself. Thank you for showing me the benefits of hard work and opening my heart, mind and soul to the endless possibilities of fantasy. You will never be forgotten, Hero of Time.
I'm glad RUclips is a time capsule for us. I've spent countless hours watching my brothers play this game, and it was truly enjoyable, almost like watching a movie! This song gave me goosebumps and brought back memories from my childhood, filling my heart with warmth and happiness. My brothers are the reason why my life has been forever changed.
it's honestly incredible that koji kondo managed to perfectly capture that feeling of childhood wonder considering that link being forced to mature faster than necessary is a core theme, and that he can never return to his childhood. it's incredibly fitting and also a little sad
I remember playing this on the 64 with my big brother when we were very young. Now we’re in our mid/late 20s and the family fell apart and we don’t talk to each other anymore. But when I hear this soundtrack and close my eyes everything is back to normal. I’m with my brother. My parents still love each other. Our oldest brother is still alive. I look back at my childhood and I feel like I’m looking at someone else’s memories. That’s how distant I feel from my home that I can never return to. This song captures the idea of time unexpectedly passing in such haunting accuracy and beauty.
I hold the effect the Zelda series had in my childhood solely responsible for my passion to travel, to take leaps, to be okay doing so alone, and relishing the moments as they pass. it was games like these that raised me and many others Cheers.
All these people talking their feelings of nostalgia and their childhood, and I'm just sitting here, having never played the game like: Damn this music slaps.
I come back to this video whenever I'm having a hard time in life, partly because of how calming it is, but mainly it reminds me of when I was younger, my dad is a nerd and anytime I was having a nightmare or ide come home crying (I was bullied growing up and still slightly am) my dad would play ocarina of time soundtracks, my favourite was the song of the storms and the starting menu music, it always makes me feel so warm and cosy inside and calms me down even in my darkest moments, it makes me feel like a kid wrapped up in a blanket falling asleep to this on my dad's big bed. I miss it sm.
omygod i’m about to cry, this wasn’t just my first zelda game, but Loz Oot was my first VIDEO GAME and I played it on my dad’s N64 and eventually on my 3DS XL No matter how many games I play in the future, this will always be my most precious ❤️❤️❤️
@Melvil DE CASTRO Ive been playing the others, I actually bought a switch mostly because of botw. I spent like 200 hours on that game it's amazing. Botw is my favorite single player game of all time. I also played the og Zelda and LttP.
Man, this brings an actual tear to me. I'm not the type to get moody from issues or conflict. But this hits home with the memories of playing late nights with my younger brother, having a few snacks and laying under the sheets to beat the game. Taking turns and when we beat it, it was a glorious night. Now, I sit alone skyping a friend to play an online game and do it before night falls for work in the morning. Nothing beats the classic and the memories they created. This, and Kakariko village gets me concious of my childhood.
27 years old rn... tears confirmed haha. Reading comments helps, too lol... Played it at the age of 4, brand new, on somebody else's N64... absolutely beautiful experience.
@Anthony Zorrilla hahaha yeah, it feels like the devs went in-depth into very precise ideas for specific feelings and emotions for the music... in a way that feels like those feelings just directly connect with real-life memories, and powerful ones at that. Still the best game in the world... Ocarina of Time... play it one day, when you're ready to finish a big, long story... if you wish
@Anthony Zorrilla very true... a lot of thought goes into some of the best games, more than money could really afford most times... I like LoZ games cause many songs have to be learned in-game to complete steps in quests, and the game usually has one of the characters teach some knowledge that relates to the song's feelings at the time of showing the song's name, and playing it with your controller buttons... it's a great idea to interact physically, mentally, and emotionally with your audience as a game dev, and the wisdom is intensely life bettering, especially as a younger person. Like, try this example, from in-game speech, learning the song required in the Fire Temple. “It is something that grows over time... a true friendship. A feeling in the heart that becomes even stronger over time. The passion of friendship will soon blossom into a righteous power and through it, you will know which way to go. This song is dedicated to the power of the heart... Listen to the Bolero of Fire.”
@@ManuelPersona24 only if you never cry again until you're 27 years old, like me... once you surpass all grasps of your past childhood, and it truly becomes 'the past,' try to remember this moment, because everyone else is loving our future's past today... while you flex your 21years of manhood on us, you symbolise the opposite of what it stands for to be a POSITIVE FORCE, in the face of attitudes like your own... this game has taught us much more than you could teach anyone today, and it hurts to know you probably just mash buttons and yell until Ganon dies... nobody is on this page to teach you the Water Temple shortcuts, we are here for mutual enjoyment of music.... enjoy your copy of the damn game, too
A simple song that truly represents so much for me. It truly embodies a simpler time where I didn’t even know life was as good as it was gonna get for a while. A time before grievance, separation, growing up, and self-doubt. Who knew an ocarina could not only turn back time in a game, but in real life as well. Thank you Nintendo.
No ones wrong. It's an opinion. I have friends who now believe that botw is a much better game than oot. As for me I always prefered majora's mask over ocarina of time due to the different races you can be and the tone it gave off.
100%, nothing comes close considering the tech available when it was released, newer games are going to look better and play better, obviously Many people say Breath of the Wild is the best Zelda ever made, I disagree. Botw is a great game but it is not the pinnacle of tech and graphics When Ocarina of Time was released it was the biggest, most immersive, complex game available on consoles, had the best gameplay and graphics back then, it was the The Last of Us 2 equivalent technically and graphically speaking, but in a Zelda game But only people that played it back then knows that, that’s why almost everyone that played it still have it as the all time GOTY
I feel like crying. This brings back so many memories as a kid in the 90s. On the weekends I used to play this game until the sun came up. I missed these days if only I could turn back. (Sighs):(
Oh my God. Listening to this song always gives me a nostalgic sadness. Playing this game with my older sister when I was in elementary. The challenges, all the fun we had, the simpler times. The feeling of satisfaction when I finished it for the first time. Yet, sadness as the story we spent so many hours on and invested so many feelings into had finally ended. I wish I could go back. Fuck.
The best of the best... One of the greatest pieces of art, not just video games, to ever grace the planet. Captivated millions of hearts. Mine is definitely a victim
It feels like this was the last thing they did before releasing this game was put this tune on the startup menu. I get a feeling from this tune that someone was very aware of just how magnificent this game truly was and needed to add this very elegant punctuation mark to it. Of course the first time you play the game, you hear the music and it's nice but you don't realize just how amazing the game truly is yet so maybe you don't get caught up in it and you just want to play. Then once you've beaten it, seen the ending, and then saw the intro again and heard this music again, you get this feeling like "wow, the game was right all along, it knew it was this good." Not to mention, the basic melody also takes from the flute theme from the original Zelda (which is of course also the warp whistle theme from Mario 3) so it is rooted in the Zelda mythology as well.
This song is a permanent part of my anti depression playlist and I refuse with every piece of my essence to remove it. I wasn’t born in the era this game came out, but I will forever guard this song.
This makes me sad. I remember when I was about 5 and I would play this with my two older brothers were about 8 and 12. We would spend hours playing this game but since I was a younger girl I would sit and watch the two have fun spending hours exploring and looking through a book that helped them, no internet for us then. And we would eat goldfish and drink Capri suns. Time goes by so fast although I can still remember these times clearly.
Gabriella Mellini same for me, I remember my brother played this all the time when I was younger. We hated the shadow temple xD. Screamed in joy for beating a temple, get angry at ganondorf for taking zelda and other little aspects that make this game so unique. lol such good times when things was more simpler.
This is what I want played at my funeral one day. It just sums up all the happiness of my childhood, the journey I'm currently taking through life with a beautiful conclusion of solace and comfort.
I hope everyone in the comments is still alive and well. Let's keep coming back here from time to time. And remember our days till the last one of us is left. Eventually OOT will be lost in time. A memory never to be remembered by the future. But here now in our lifetime we are all here together. We all remember till we return to the dust. REST IN PEACE Martin and Maria my mom and brother watched me play and my brother introduced me to this. She died in her 50s and my brother died around age 30 🥺😟 even my dog died recently at 6 years 💔 😢. Guess its time to get back to it though! Lets keep on fighting for the dead. For our memories of nostalgia
Although I wasn't born in the old times as other people were, this is truly an unforgettable masterpiece. How cruel can times be, passing by so quickly, without us even noticing it might have already been ten years since you met an old friend of yours, read a good book, or even listened to some classic video game music like this. This is truly one of the best video game music I have ever heard, and it will always be one of them no matter how long time passes. Thank you for bringing this classical song back to life again, I will precious the childhood I have now, because I know, once it's over, I'll never have it again.
How old are you now? I’m 17 turning 18 in September, I played this game with my older brother (born 1996) and I miss playing this game, I really can’t believe I had this game 10 years ago 😔 Time can really be cruel.
I remember when I finished this game on the 3ds for the first time I was crying my eyes out, the ending was so beautiful, this game is awesome and a masterpiece.
I still remember coming home from primary school, and my parents surprised me with a Nintendo 64 and Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I played deep into the nights, always rushing home after school, throwing my school bag into the corner, and spending hours with Link and Navi, riding through Hyrule. I kept a piece of paper with the different melodies of the Ocarina written down, always carrying it like a notebook. When I think back to that time, it was the best period of my life. Those melodies are therapy for my soul, which has grown older now. Thank you, my younger self.
The legend of Zelda games is what keeps me goin. After a months of noon stoping work, stress, depression, etc playing any Zelda game (Oot and BotW) is like a pink faerie that replenish all my hearts
+lurkerinthedarkness Even if you've played MM, TP, WW and the others (guilty xD) there's this certain appeal to Ocarina....something that always pulls you back....I even found a weird glitch [def no lie] where I went to Jabu Jabu's resting place as an adult, you know the alcove you have there? Stand there when the Sun's out and look to the left (First person wise). Tell me what you see in the forest....Cause I saw something with three golden points.... Ocarina of Time - Best game I have ever played.....well.....ever =D
Andy Studer don't know why I made such a stupid statement there. Of course everyone has his own opinion on this matter. What made MM stand out for me was the gameplay. Swiming and diving as a Zora was mindblowing, like they knew what I wished for after OoT.
+Andy Studer Same, Ocarina isn't only the best game ever for me, it was my FIRST EVER game, and i played it with my older brother, I love my brother he's like my own personal Link
This is a very emotional game, it's the first game that ever made me cry, and I still haven't bought the remake because I'm afraid that it will make me burst into tears. Most People think that "the best game ever" Is 2k16 or Madden but in my very strong opinion the best game ever title Goes to.... Wait for it.... The legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time ^-^
When i was smaller, i remember watching my dad play video games. But ocarina of time-it was just different. I remember the excitement id feel when id hear the opening music. Id dash up the stairs to my father and watch him play. Timeskip-after he'd one day bought a nintendo switch for himself, i was around ten years old, it came with a mario game and a game that sounded nostalgic to me. "The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild". It was like my younger self all over again, watching him play zelda games on the nintendo. I decided to play breath of the wild myself. After that, i grew a large attachment to this series. Not even a year later, he left, which was definitely for the better. But now i have memories to hold onto. Ive bought skyward sword, played the original zelda game and the adventure of link a little, planning on investing in twilight princess, and ocarina of time. This soundtrack will always hold a special place in my heart. I am now 13, turning 14 this year and i will never forget how this series affected me. Thank you nintendo, for not only blessing me with this heart welling series, but making me experience one of the only times id feel like a child...Nintendo games. Having to act adult-like at such a young age is so hard. But there is sometimes a way to truly let out that childish side. To me, Nintendo did more than that. Thank you, once again.
How I miss playing this game. Staying up all night playing this. Beating the water temple was one of the best feeling because i will say it is hardest temple. I remember this game like the back of my hand. It really hurt me when I completed this game like this game gave me a feeling I have yet to feel again and I hope one day to play this again . And maybe walk hyrule again and soak it in . I missed tapping a on the owl scenes and link screaming from rolling or falling . Ugh they don’t make games like this anymore this is a masterpiece and I hope this game forever lives on
I never had much growing up, but I did have video games... My father, I didnt get to meet him until I was 11... When I did, I was living in a group home, and he was so kind and generous with me... I never had anyone buy me nice things... Like a gameboy color and pokemon red and blue for my birthday, and a week later, cuz my birthday is on december 18th, christmas, my dad bought me this game. I still remember having weekend visits at his house and playing this the whole time, cuz I didnt expect him to buy me a N64 too lmao. Thats why I still have a lot of love for my father to this day, even though he doesnt say too much, I still remember the kindness he showed me... I also moved into his house the next year... Nothing could have made me happier. Thanks dad.
I remember my family moving to a new town and I’d cry all the time. We went from a huge house to a tiny apartment and the only escape I had was this game. It was so magical and vast. I identified with Young Link being forced out of the life he knew and seeing how cool Adult Link was made me want to be brave. What a strange time, but an exciting one. My mom was so patient with me and she appreciated the way this game would comfort me. She remembers all the sound effects and when I play this again around the holidays she’s nostalgic for it too. Unlike Link, we can’t jump back in time, but we cherish our childhoods and look back on those versions of ourselves like a supportive understanding parent would. That kid was just scared, but not anymore. Hope you all have a great day and may the desire for new adventures shine brighter as we grow.
When i first started i couldn't even get past the forest temple. i never found the bow. didn't stop me from winning the fire temple and got to the point in the water temple where you needed the bow in order to shoot one of the eye things. although can't really blame me cause i was 4 at the time.
mattimeo12345 You got that far when you were 4? Nice job.I was playing this game at about that age (I started at 3 [named myself "no", the only word I knew how to spell]), and for about... 3 years(?), I never even went into Jabu-Jabu's belly. It just scared me too much.
Shedding tears for a childhood I will never have again.
Don't worry me too

No other game has ever done that for me
This game actually was really hard, you really had to explore to find out where to go next and how to beat it.

This comment is a pearl of wisdom. I agree wholeheartedly!

"A good game is one you enjoy playing. A great game is one that made you feel something more."

The ultimate hero. Well spoke in Twilight Princess as well. The hero’s shade. The hero of time. The hero of termina. Saviour of the world.

But, my heart says otherwise. ... Thank you so much Scrapper9000... for posting this unforgettable melody.
i know how you feel...
That's a beautiful explanation. Follow your heart dude, if it's something you enjoy no one can tell you otherwise.
The staff roll always makes me cry. I love this game!

I got a n64 for my birthday, and my uncle (who gave it to me) also happened to have found OoT and Mario Kart.
Best first gaming system.
This game saw me through a lot of growth in my life and like everyone else here it will always hold a special place in my heart and my memories and my life and the best video game music ever.

does the composer of this know exactly how much of a masterpiece they made?

Something eerie about that.. I'd rather not have my whole life be a dream. I dont know if I'd want to relive it all again

Anyone else get goosebumps or is it just me? God this song..... love it. Makes me feel like a hero :)
You're not the only one :)
***** You're just like Link, who was sleeping for 7 years in the temple of time. It would have been funny if you stopped at the master sword.
I could listen to this forever, it never gets old!
¡¡¡yo no hablo es ingles!!!
and it never will...
True
As we all grow up we faintly remember the feeling of running around Hyrule, running after dogs, breaking pots for rupees, playing those minigames in town. But once we picked up the Master Sword we grew up. And when we all really think about it we're just all young Links growing up too fast.

Everything in life grows old and dies. 100 years from now no one will remember or care. A billion years from now it'll be one insignificant moment among countless other moments in time. That's what this song makes me think about.

I think it's safe to say that, for me, this kind of music does not remind me of such depressing hardships (even the "hardships" I've gone through in my life).
Music of this "reminiscent" feel is actually rather uplifting to me. :) This one specifically serves as a reminder of how great my childhood was (at least as I remember it) largely due to this one game, among others.

If it can have this kinda effect on me, I can't even imagine what it must be like to play this game in your childhood then listen to this 20 years later.

it's honestly incredible that koji kondo managed to perfectly capture that feeling of childhood wonder
considering that link being forced to mature faster than necessary is a core theme, and that he can never return to his childhood. it's incredibly fitting and also a little sad
I had to go outside tonight , and one of the neighbors was playing this loudly. It was oddly calming to be out in the cold and rain with this playing.
I hope you fix things with the brother who is alive.
I hold the effect the Zelda series had in my childhood solely responsible for my passion to travel, to take leaps, to be okay doing so alone, and relishing the moments as they pass.
it was games like these that raised me and many others

I miss it sm.

Just started playing this game, absolute masterpiece. I’m 17, I can see a 30 year old me crying in the future :’)
You are all crybabies. I am 21 years old and will continue to play this masterpiece. Adulthood >>> Childhood ✅
2020 and still the best game, and the best soundtrack of the history!!!
@@windchill3351 you are incorrect
No ones wrong. It's an opinion. I have friends who now believe that botw is a much better game than oot. As for me I always prefered majora's mask over ocarina of time due to the different races you can be and the tone it gave off.
100%, nothing comes close considering the tech available when it was released, newer games are going to look better and play better, obviously
Many people say Breath of the Wild is the best Zelda ever made, I disagree. Botw is a great game but it is not the pinnacle of tech and graphics
When Ocarina of Time was released it was the biggest, most immersive, complex game available on consoles, had the best gameplay and graphics back then, it was the The Last of Us 2 equivalent technically and graphically speaking, but in a Zelda game
But only people that played it back then knows that, that’s why almost everyone that played it still have it as the all time GOTY
I preferred skyward swords soundtrack

Then once you've beaten it, seen the ending, and then saw the intro again and heard this music again, you get this feeling like "wow, the game was right all along, it knew it was this good."
Not to mention, the basic melody also takes from the flute theme from the original Zelda (which is of course also the warp whistle theme from Mario 3) so it is rooted in the Zelda mythology as well.
I totally agree. I know the feeling.

A deep dark piece of brain matter lights up inside me within the first few seconds of hearing this oh-so-heartwarming serenade. The memories...

Thanks dad.
Dude, that's beautiful. What a great man.
