The N64 was an amazing console, largely due to Zelda and so many other great games as well. The soundtrack alone evokes such a wonderful feeling within me, as I'm sure it does with the rest of you. This is a good thing to imagine. Back then they were working with a software that effectively looks like a bad version of Excel. They had to physically write notes, without being able to see them on a sheet music composition, so it looked something this for each note Dmaj*4(3rdOct)-2, and then the next note etc, just in a spreadsheet... The kind of stuff that Aphex Twin was working with for a decade before finally getting to help design better UI and synths. It was unbelievably complex, and on top of that every sound was manually edited via analogue consoles. So samples would be loaded into a physical sampler, and then edited to be unique and then sequenced onto a computer software using less than 25mb of memory. Then they had to master them all and compress them to file sizes small enough to keep the high quality and also take up almost no space, which to this day is still impressive because people would have to recreate the songs entirely to get the best quality, but they did so much amphetamine curtesy of the yakuza that 90s Japanese music from Jazz to Video Games is hands down the most complicated and vibe ridden creations ever put out. There had to have been gram after gram of amphetamines just shoved down like peanuts, absolutely no way that industry was sober, while Japan had no rave culture but the Yakuza somehow made hundreds of millions of dollars selling amphetamine in Japan 😅 Gotta respect the grind.

I did as well. You don't realize how much it means to you at the time. It hit hard as it brought me back to what I believe is better times. Legend of Zelda is one of my favorite gaming series.
People are just standing around ignoring it, I can’t comprehend being so boring as to not go over and listen, this is amazing even if I’d never heard these songs.
Excellent! I will be 71 next week and I still love to play these on my piano. This looks like what I was doing at your age..played at many weddings and recptions at our local churches. I believe this music is the "classical music" of our time. This and stuff like Two Steps from Hell. Great job!! I would have been hanging out with you at that reception! Do you ever play the music from the Zelda where he's riding in the boat all over? Love that one. And the flying music where Zelda gets captured by the black tornado and taken below..Ha Ha! This is the music of this time..imho.💕💕🎶 Kathryn
I was just telling my friends that something about Zelda music laid against a background of indistinct chatter and clattering plate ware creates an indescribably beautiful atmosphere
It is/was one of the best games released especially for that era. I played & beat OOT upon it's release & then again not even 2 months ago. It's STILL an amazing play through.
@@omarlfacio the pianist was already playing the piano throughout the whole event. I'm quite sure that sort of reaction would have already happened. He clearly was reacting to a familiar song. I think you need to go smoke a bowl and chill maybe 🤷🏻♀️
The music is like that one person who witnessed our journey in life, accompanying us through thick and thin. Looking back, we all experienced different kinds of life's lesson. We laugh, thrown down, get up and face tomorrow with new strength.
The amount of love and effort poured into every aspect of Ocarina of Time is staggering. It exists within a very exclusive bubble with only a tiny handful of other games.
I think it was the first video game I ever played and I still remember it so vividly. I was probably six years old but I’ve played this game so many times that it just feels like a part of me
Like little koroks mingling at a wedding taking place at the foot of the Deku Tree in the Lost Woods. “For dinner, choice of single grilled hearty shroom or steamed mushroom medley kabobs with wild Hylian rice. Both entrées to be served with Silent Princess salad with a korok seed vinaigrette.”
The whole atmosphere, with the crowd in the background talking & just being in real time while the pianist plays all these classic melodies is pure gold
Something about these songs being played in an ambiance where we're all grown up brought memories and tears of a time when we were just kids and things were simple.
1998 I was a middle schooler coming home from another day and plopped down on my beanbag chair and kicked on the N64, not a single care in the world. I'd give almost anything to return back to those days.
Koji is a genius. Such beautiful music for something that was just meant to be fun. I never really understood how beautiful the soundtrack is. It’s special and you don’t get that effect with most games anymore.
I can't even imagine what it's like to listen to this music for the first time without any memory or feeling. A few notes and I'm immediately filled with feelings and thoughts.
You, in another 50 yrs, at a reunion.......... When a soft medley plays over the hall..... and you feel your ears perk up! A smile comes over your face and a calmness you haven't felt in decades takes over. A calmness unbound by paying bills or being on time for work everyday. A feeling of bliss that only a carefree youth could feel. You remember a person you once were......
You played it absolutely perfectly. The Zelda ambiance actually blended perfectly with the background noises / conversations. I'm sure you made this wedding feel very magical. Just like Zelda Ocarina of Time felt to us, thank you for sharing!
If you started playing fairy fountain at my wedding id start freaking out that song holds a special place in my heart from being a kid and playing Zelda
It’s pretty solid. But there are so many games that also are crazy good. Indie Games off the top of my head such as Hollow Knight, Ori and the Blind Forest (absolutely insane OST), any of Super Giant Games, then more main stream franchises such as Fire Emblem’s banger OSTs such as Shadows of Valentia, maybe Halo Reach or 3, there’s just so many gorgeous music from games.
etrian odyssey games are masterpieces as well. Its so hard for me to pick the best. Theres some insane talent across the industry. The final fantasy series as well.
Wow, just wow… Zelda’s lullaby actually brought a tear to my eye. If I saw my girl walking down the aisle and that was playing I would be a mess. Flawless.
I'm sorry to all the new Zelda fans, but OOT has by FAR the best music! It's not even close. I wish they cared as much now as they did in the past about stuff like music and story. The music was simple and so beautiful! Thank you for playing this!
All the music in that game was based off the 4 or 5 notes you could use to play the ocarina. I will say their worse Zelda game Skyward sword had a really good OST as well with BOTW being 3rd.
The game itself was centered around music through Ocarina. And I wish all Zelda games had music power like that. MM had it, Twilight princess a little with the howling and it just went downhill from that
I'm not disagreeing. Oot will always be the most special loz game for me. And the oot title screen music is one of my favorites from any genres of music. But botw is in the running for sure. The rito theme, the castle music, and a few others from botw are absolutely incredible.
I remember playing the game as a kid thinking the title theme and intro was lame but as an adult, man does the theme hit hard at 0:46. Such a bittersweet melody about how quickly time passes. Fantastic rendition of the song. Really brought me back to that 12 year old kid watching Epona ride through the field back in 98.
@@08Derrock As kids, we were often more interested in the action than we were in the melancholy and no-action opening sequence. We wanted to go on the adventure, not watch a cutscene.
@@iciclecold2991 man, I disagree. As I mentioned before, I was 8 when it came out and I felt like it was the perfect opening. It set a tone of a magical world filled with wonder that I could get lost in lied ahead. I guess everyone is different!
@@08Derrock It was the classic case of me being a boy who had an attitude problem while going through puberty. Telling people to suck it and playing Goldeneye was cool. Having a beautiful piano melody wasn’t something I would have considered cool or admit to it being a great intro at the time. Just me being a prototypical product of the times. If I was a little younger not worrying about being cool to fit in, I probably would have appreciated more.
The fact that it doesn’t sound out of place at a formal gathering says something about Koji Kondo’s composing skill.

They understood well enough that he was exceptional, save your thankfulness for after the wedding. In fact one could assume he was paid to play this so it is just a job for him.

Oh, I was waiting for someone to come around and share this nostalgic moment, and eventually, a lovely lady noticed this.
Fairy song is so nostalgic, makes me cry remembering the good old days when everything was simple
That’s the song that got me 😢
It reminds me of 2000-2001 when I was 13
It was my alarm clock forever 😎
That song is so melancholic, that's why it hits hard
I never played Zelda and it made me both emotional and nostalgic
I love how as soon as you played a few notes, you gained the attention of those who knew. It's deeply engraved in their brains.
Literally no one lol
lol only 1 person turned and it was because of a sound not a note
@@gustavobertoni1381 Bet half the people at this wedding didn't exist yet when OOT came out lol
@@rolypolyyy Most of these sounds are not from ocarina of time. But from ZELDA 3 A Link To The Past.
Yup my childhood memories
if i ever hear somebody playing zelda songs in public im pulling up a chair, staying for the whole set and tipping u for being an awesome human being
I can't believe anyone came up to the piano. Those are instant classics to anyone who's played a Zelda game
Insane how powerful music is. The second I heard the opening notes to the title theme I got tears in my eyes. Very beautiful playing.

Same 🥹
I did as well. You don't realize how much it means to you at the time. It hit hard as it brought me back to what I believe is better times. Legend of Zelda is one of my favorite gaming series.
The flood of nostalgia was nearly overwhelming, I think it might be time to play again.
It happens to be with Zelda, Secret of Mana and Chronotrigger OSTs. I tear up with Zelda quite easily.
If I was at this wedding and I started hearing the OoT title theme playing, I'd start breaking down into tears.
😆😅🤣🤢🤮
It's hard for me not to tear every time I hear it, honestly.
People are just standing around ignoring it, I can’t comprehend being so boring as to not go over and listen, this is amazing even if I’d never heard these songs.
Same here. It would be too much nostalgia to handle in public
ok relax softie
orcarina of time means so much to me that if this was played at my wedding i think id cry on the spot
yes
it's from link to the past
@@NarrowedSoundNo they are not. They are every single one from OOT. You can't teach Gen X anything about Zelda man so pipe down. LoL
I still play and love this game. A fan favorite for sure.
same but if i wasn't lol
The "Live" aspect of this being a classy reception makes this absolutely perfect
I was just telling my friends that something about Zelda music laid against a background of indistinct chatter and clattering plate ware creates an indescribably beautiful atmosphere
That guy dancing to the lost woods music, we have found Darunia! He was trying to not shout "YAAA, HOT, WHAT A HOT BEAT, YAHOOOOO!"
😂😂😂
your comment made me laugh 😂
That waiter defintely knew! He's like "Bro. That's the Korok song! You're the man. Have a cheese puff."
The guy at 4:46 knows what's up! Great job! Zelda music is the best!
That great fairy's fountain music brings back so many memories of my all time favorite Zelda game. In my opinion, the greatest Zelda game ever made.
Not only the greatest Zelda game ever made, but also the greatest game ever made!
Don't forget the fairy screaming "aaaaaahhaaaaaaaahahahahah"
It is/was one of the best games released especially for that era. I played & beat OOT upon it's release & then again not even 2 months ago. It's STILL an amazing play through.
Take your like good man. It has a few tears on it, don't mind them.
A mí me sirve para estudiar
I can imagine see my Bride coming down the aisle whilst Zelda lullaby was playing. It would be magical!
And then Ganon comes and kidnaps her..
Would be perfect!
At the end of our wedding when we walked out we had the Lindsey Sterling Zelda Medley play. It was awesome! So glad she agreed to it lol
Yo that's not a bad thought...🎉
@@MURDUK004 No... Dressing up as Ganon and kidnapping women from their weddings is bad..

I love how the one person recognized it at the beginning and turned around so fast like "yes my dude, yes!"
That was just a reaction to suddenly someone playing the piano lol. Relax.
@@omarlfaciothen why did he do it after the second chord, and not the first? Relax, maybe you're socially inept.
Very nice of you not to play the Song of Storms on their wedding day!
That would have been great. Or Ganondorf's theme.
I’m not happy about it. I don’t think the guests would even know if they got wet
Wouldn't that have been IRONIC?
Que 😄 risaaaa
🎶It’s like raaaaiiiiiinnnnn…. On your wedding day!!😅
The amount of love and effort poured into every aspect of Ocarina of Time is staggering. It exists within a very exclusive bubble with only a tiny handful of other games.
It was a game out of it's own era on every aspect. It also has some inexplicable mysticism
It was a game out of it's own era on every aspect. It also has some inexplicable mysticism
I wish the Zelda games that followed had music as good as OOT.
You know you miss Epona
I think it was the first video game I ever played and I still remember it so vividly. I was probably six years old but I’ve played this game so many times that it just feels like a part of me
You make people's lives better. Thank you.
Thank you for the kind words :)
Somehow listening to this video brings tears to my eyes. Very therapeutic.
The fairy lake melody always gets me. It's a safe song at the end of a stressful situation.

You could say that wedding reception was LEGENDARY
all the covert nerds in the room. honestly some of the most beautiful musical pieces. Also, green dress, wowza.
1:33 hearing this would’ve instantly made freeze in my tracks.

The title theme to The Ocarina of Time still gives me goosebumps 25 years later
Was just about to comment this. I was 4-5 when I played this for the first time and it still gives me chills to this very day
1998 I was a middle schooler coming home from another day and plopped down on my beanbag chair and kicked on the N64, not a single care in the world. I'd give almost anything to return back to those days.
Gerudo Valley... my favourite track ever from any Zelda game. It's been my alarm music for goodness knows how long
Gerudo valley hits so hard it's the best
Also my favorite, but I am baffled as how you can set something as your alarm and still like it
@@Rykiz_Vidz Because it starts off relatively slow paced - unlike a regular alarm sound that's usually like a siren 😅
How could you set that as your alarm. If I ever go to hell I’ll hear my alarm 24/7

And if they were a gamer, they would appreciate it.
Koji is a genius. Such beautiful music for something that was just meant to be fun. I never really understood how beautiful the soundtrack is. It’s special and you don’t get that effect with most games anymore.
When I play certain songs people say they're awesome when I tell them it's from a video game they roll their eyes
Such killjoys in society. They let one little detail ruin things for them, instead of letting themselves enjoy things.

You played it absolutely perfectly. The Zelda ambiance actually blended perfectly with the background noises / conversations. I'm sure you made this wedding feel very magical. Just like Zelda Ocarina of Time felt to us, thank you for sharing!
Making the wedding feel magical is the most beautiful and moving sentiment about this scene, oh my gosh 🤗😭

Zelda Ocarina of Time had the best music of any videogame ever imo
I love the vibe of wind waker
It’s pretty solid. But there are so many games that also are crazy good. Indie Games off the top of my head such as Hollow Knight, Ori and the Blind Forest (absolutely insane OST), any of Super Giant Games, then more main stream franchises such as Fire Emblem’s banger OSTs such as Shadows of Valentia, maybe Halo Reach or 3, there’s just so many gorgeous music from games.

etrian odyssey games are masterpieces as well. Its so hard for me to pick the best. Theres some insane talent across the industry. The final fantasy series as well.
Best music of any piece of entertainment ever
For some reason the background noise of the people adds a certain and delightful ambience to this wonderful performance. Thanks man
Wow, just wow… Zelda’s lullaby actually brought a tear to my eye. If I saw my girl walking down the aisle and that was playing I would be a mess. Flawless.

Respect to this guy for being a great musician, and respecting the wedding party and photographer(s) by blurring the faces. You eat, we ALL eat.

This made me emotional! Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has always been one of my favorite Nintendo games!
MM had it, Twilight princess a little with the howling and it just went downhill from that
The Fairy Fountain theme and Zelda's Lullaby are from A Link to the Past.
I'm not disagreeing. Oot will always be the most special loz game for me. And the oot title screen music is one of my favorites from any genres of music.
But botw is in the running for sure. The rito theme, the castle music, and a few others from botw are absolutely incredible.
Agreed OOT is the most memorable, but Hyrule Castle in BOTW is 🔥
The song selection for the medley is too outstanding!Piano makes me feel chill.
I’m genuinely curious how as a kid you could think it was “lame”? What should it have been? I remember at the age of 8 it was an incredible opening.
