This is it. This is what "home away from home" sounds like. I'll never forget the adventures I had in Skyrim. Packing for a hard ride through blinding blizzards atop black peaks. Shaking off rain in forgotten taverns. Staring out across the night with hearts full and aching for reasons secret to all but ourselves. Skyrim may be considered an 'empty' game by some... But many of us know how to transform a canvas.
Only a fool would call it an empty game. Skyrim has brought much more than hope happiness or comfort to millions. It has given us a timetable of how old we really are. And how old technology is invariably still very usefull when there hasn't been anything better invented yet.
I love reading these comments, no arguments or hostility. Just a community of people reminiscing, sharing memories of their first time playing Skyrim or how it got them through difficult times. I relate to a lot of you, I feel very warm and comforted here.
I don't play video games, but love to watch my daughter play. This music has always been so soothing and beautiful to me. It's very ethereal, and when I listen to it closely I am transported to another realm of consciousness.
I'm really glad you feel this way about the music; however, that being said, it's one thing to listen to the score, but it's literally quite another to experience it. Try it out (play the game) for about 10 minutes I assure you it will provide you with an abundance of joy you thought you could never possess.
Can't wait for the new Beyond Skyrim update. Sometimes I wish I could explain to people I discuss about games, how amazing Skyrim is. Nostalgia hits hard when I remember the good old times..
I have spent 1000 hours on this game and I still cant get enough. Every time I listen to one of these videos I always feel the nostalgia like an arrow to the knee. Thank you for this video that brings a tear to my eye.
well you should install Beyond Skyrim mod then, Cyrodiil accesible through Skyrim. Couldn't get enough as well. Although I play the game since it came out. Sometimes I wish I could explain to people I discuss about games, how amazing Skyrim is. Nostalgia hits hard when I remember old good times..
yes.. the nostalgia. I remember when i went to my brothers room and looked at what he was playing. Fighting with dragons on a snowy mountain. I didnt know much about the bigger games like skyrim, gta and so on. But once i saw it, i sometimes even imagined being in the skyrim world doing the same as my brother. amazing game.
Never played videogames much as a kid, had too many siblings to share a single ps3 with. I actually picked up a copy of skyrim at a garage sale for $2 in 2018 with the intention of flipping it for a small profit, to which never happened (Thanks ADHD). It had been collecting dust until a month ago, when i decided to humor my older brother's advice and play the game. I am currently on my first 60 hours of the game and I AM FLOORED! (along with my jaw). I play when i can, and when i do. I cannot contain my pure almost childlike joy. I feel transported where my existence feels anything but dull. What a masterpiece. Thanks big bro.
Skyrim is my home, I spent my childhood exploring it’s seemingly endless mountains and valleys, as a kid I would sit in breeze home or windstad manor and watch the fireplace as this peaceful music southed my soul. Those were simpler times without the hardship and worry of today. But I still find myself as an adult dropping back into my home from time to time to experience the tranquility I could never find in the real world. I will always be proud to call myself a true son of Skyrim.
I’ve been listening to this every-night, my dog passed away recently… She used to cuddle up to me every-time I played Skyrim, I think this music really relaxed her. when I listen to this music I feel like I’m missing something inside my soul, I’ll miss her comfort by my side while playing this game. Rest in peace Luna

I was 21 when Skyrim came out and I've spent the last 12 years exploring every nook and crany. Now 33, i struggle to find sleep and suffer from anxiety, self hate, and depression. Playing Skyrim gives my soul some rest from the suffering, and coming here at night can help me sleep, and if it doesn't, at least I feel at ease thinking of a better time....
Depression sucks. One thing i tried which really helped was listening to audiobooks while playing games. It kind of made me feel like I was progressing, at least in my understanding of things. And a lot of the advice in the books i listened to helped me live a better life and get me out of depression

This reminds me of being a 13 year old kid, sitting in my room and playing this on Xbox 360. I played this game to get through my parents divorce, and subsequently my mom dying of cancer. This music reminds me of being an innocent child just trying to enjoy life, not knowing of much pain or suffering. How I long to go back.
I miss playing Skyrim at like 3am and this music came on it was so peaceful so relaxing... And then I get sent to space by a damn Giant and it’s shlong long club
I'm willing to bet when Jeremy Soule came in with his score and showed it to the crew at Bethesda. They just probably had their jaws on the floor in absolute disbelief. I feel sometimes that 50% at least of what makes this game unforgettable is this score. I'll never forget the score for as long as I live I listen to it on a weekly basis and I listened to it when my mom died. There's so much of the emotion and nostalgia of 2011/12 that really hits me when I hear this and it's not just nostalgia though, it really is tone for tone and cadence for cadence the greatest video game soundtrack of all time.
This is the playlist that has gotten me through 4 exams, all of which I passed. Now I'm headed into my fifth. Let's band together, adventurers, and fight until we achieve our grandest goal - Success!
I never really appreciated all the work that went into skyrim until now. The rotations of the sky, the sound of wind passing by, the grass and trees swaying, and the soft music that really brings out the aesthetics of the game. I really hope the same dedication goes into the next elder scrolls.

I love to see all these comments about the time they spent on the game. Something we can all agree and come together to talk about. To all of you Dragonborns , long life to you.
Morrowind? :D Hmm it is hard to find as open games as Skyrim. If we are talking about topdown games as well: Divine Divinity was pretty awesome, Fallout 1 and 2 for sure.. I don't know it's hard to think of quick maybe I'll return back to this if I come up with some ideas :P I will be starting on streaming fallout 1 and 2 very soon and will upload the streams to my channel, if you're interested in those without playing them yourself :) edit: and yeah of course Fallout New Vegas is very good as well!
I’m 38 years old now. I remember as a kid trying oblivion and just not being ready for it. I think it was just too grand for me I’m just starting my first play through of Skyrim and I can’t believe I didn’t experience this sooner. I often stumbled upon videos of people saying different versions of essentially the same thing “Skyrim is life altering” I now after just 8 short hours, can already see what lays ahead of me. Something I won’t soon forget.

I’ve never played Skyrim, nor did I look this up. My recommended led me here. To a place of people longing to go back. Looking back on the memories they made playing this game. A sort of nostalgia heart attack, per se. I aim to play this game now. I’m the age that many of you were when you first heard this song. I’ll hear the dialogue, understand the memes, and have a fun time, just like many of you did. I wish you luck on your journey, whatever it may be.
I imagine every time Bethesda is working on a new Elder Scrolls game and the score is finished, they all sit down and hear the music for the first time.. just epic. Must be a huge moment for them to hear their creation come to life, as the music is a big part of what makes the game so brilliant.

It’s crazy to think that, when this game first came out, my wife and I were still just dating. I still remember when she sent me a picture of a life sized Dragonborn statue in a GameStop because she figured I’d think it was neat. Now we have our second child on the way and I’m still waiting for the next elder scrolls!
Thats awesome! Congrats on your second child. When my husband and I first started seeing each other he gifted me a Skyrim map and wrote "I love you" on the back.
And guess what, you'll be on your 4th or 5th kid by the time it comes out! Sorry i had to because i feel like 6 is becoming the half life 3 meme in my domain

Skyrim was the last time i played a truly 10/10 game. All time favorite game, will come back to this several times throughout my life. Wish you all the best, thanks!
i played this game for countless hours every single day during a rough time of my teenage years. the memories this music and game connects to are truly cherished. I think between its release in 2011-2014 i played close to 2000 hours. learning every single side quest, every single glitch, all the skill trees, different characters, everything the game had to offer, including the dlc.. man these really were the best days and i didnt even know it
"Skyrim, you've helped me through some tough times, allowed me to become lost in the amazing world of fantasy, where dragons fly across the sky, trolls and spiders dwell in caves, the dead rise from their slumber to walk the earth, wizards and witches exist using their magic to create wonders and horrors, breathtaking beauty is seen throughout the land, and where I fell in love with this truly beautiful game, so Skyrim, believe me when I say that, You've been a great friend to me and that most definitely means something."
You know, life's funny. When I was younger and I lived with my mom, I used to play games in the basement. Distinctly, I remember a time she came down to do laundry while I was explored the wilds of Skyrim. It was night time in-game and a beautiful track was playing. My mom never paid attention to my gaming, didn't understand it, and generally thought it was a waste of time. However, this night, as she was folding laundry, she stopped and said, "My God, that music is beautiful!" Her voice took me out of my immersion ever so briefly and I said back, "It really is." After she finished folding, she went upstairs and shut the door. What's amazing is that we experienced a moment of beauty and peace together, in awe and silence, and it's because of this game. I'd like to believe there was a part of her that wanted to stay there a bit longer just to soak it in. To this day, this is the only game that made my mom stop and acknowledge the wonder that can exist in a video game. I'll always remember this moment until the day I die. Thanks, Skyrim.
My first playthrough, I didn't know how to sprint so I walked for about half of the game. It was such a cool experience because you got to experience every single detail the creators put into the game. Me and my little brother would play it for a week straight just enjoying every aspect of it. Skyrim and Oblivion will always have a special place that resides in my memory. Hopefully the next installment can bring people as much joy.
I'll never forget my first Skyrim character (Taline the stealthy Nord thief), exploring the massive world, dungeons, quests, buildings for the first time I just... was so immersed, I really felt like I was there and I took great pride in the hoard of jewels on my bedroom floor (Breezehome babay) and various valuables I collected through my travels, spending hours setting them all up perfectly only to log back in and find everything on the floor (ok, unimmersive but still). I miss that, now it seems impossible to get that same "completely immersed" feeling anymore. Perhaps because I was younger... however Skyrim lives on in my heart. I'm gonna play the *shit* out of TES 6.
I was like that with my first TES game, Morrowind, and that continued through Oblivion and into Skyrim. I always prayed the predominant race of the region in my first playthroughs but always wound up recreating my original Morrowind character; Olarim, the Dunmer spellsword, incarnate of the prophesied Nerevar and wayward adventurer who stopped the devil, Dagoth Ur and put an end to the blight on Vvardenfell. Eventually he moved on and became the hero of Kvatch, stopping Mehrunes Dagon and the Oblivion Crisis in Cyrodiil before traveling north to Skyrim. It was there, in the bitter cold land bathed in the blood of brothers-at-war and dragons that he learned of his true destiny; the Dragonborn. He was a magician, a subtle rogue, a stalwart Companion and a hero of the people. Always loyal to the Empire and forever it's protector.

It's scary how these comments are going from comforting to nostalgic over time. The world is so much harder than it was when this came out. People yearn for an easier time. We just want to explore fun new fantasy worlds, not suffer from the horrors of this new world we've built around us. Skyrim has its troubles. But they can be overcome. If only reality were so easy.
As for Bethesda experience, Fallout 4 was a success. As for a good Fallout game, it wasn't. Having said that, I liked F4 a lot. Music and created world was amazing. Story was sub par unfortunately.
@@antydsr I just started playing Fallout 4 (Level 24 rn) It's my first Fallout game and I absolutely love it. So, coming from someone who has never played a previous Fallout, I think it was a success.

Reading through the comments and just appreciating you guys and the hard times you've gone through and shared here. This game really helped me escape from reality man. I was being constantly bullied but when I loaded up my Xbox it really felt I was back in my world and no one could make fun of me cause I was the Dragonborn lol. Thank you Bethesda. May your games give people happiness the way it did for all of us. ❤️
I think this is the most recent game that brings me nostalgia. God, sometimes I would find a beautiful place in the game and let my character just stand there taking in the huge valleys, sky aurora, and infrequent dragons that rolled by. Sometimes I'd let the faint sound track like this play and do my homework, knowing once I finished I could jump right back on and start hunting for some more giant toes. Perhaps the most profound statement I've heard recently is "What if these are the good ol' days?". So now I try to live in every moment as if I'd look back at this time and think "Man, I miss those days."
Isn't it amazing how those first few notes can transport you back to the time all our heads were lost in the wilderness of Skyrim. A good time. A simpler time.

For me, it was Morrowind. But then Morrowind was the first ES game I played... And I had a 4 day old baby when Skyrim released. I still haven't "finished" playing through it, lol. My gaming years book ended by two of their games. I miss escapism.

I have many conflicting emotions while listening to this. Nostalgic, of course, my brother, who I haven’t spoken to for a while now, taught me how to play this game. But it makes me have such a huge sense of longing for what was, before I was aware of the world’s treachery, before everything went downhill. But to the reader of this comment, I want to tell you that when it all seems grey, when you’re lost. You always have a place in the holds of Skyrim. No matter the bounty.

COMMENT OF THE YEAR
Hey, you! You're finally awake....
Yes
Beautifully said
Only a fool would call it an empty game. Skyrim has brought much more than hope happiness or comfort to millions. It has given us a timetable of how old we really are. And how old technology is invariably still very usefull when there hasn't been anything better invented yet.
My thoughts exactly, Chris.
I sure did
BEAUTIFULLY said friend. Here's to the nice cold nights playing skyrim , chugs down 10 skoomas 😂

Try it out (play the game) for about 10 minutes I assure you it will provide you with an abundance of joy you thought you could never possess.

yes.. the nostalgia.
Better yet, a ture NORD of skyrim! ❤

Your mom sounds awesome dude. I'm so happy that your mom understood you in that moment.❤

That experience sounds awesome!!! I'm glad you were able you experience that moment of life ❤
I'll never forget my first Skyrim character (Taline the stealthy Nord thief), exploring the massive world, dungeons, quests, buildings for the first time I just... was so immersed, I really felt like I was there and I took great pride in the hoard of jewels on my bedroom floor (Breezehome babay) and various valuables I collected through my travels, spending hours setting them all up perfectly only to log back in and find everything on the floor (ok, unimmersive but still).
You should try Skyrim VR 😁

This game came out when I was 15.
Im 25 now.
Man...... Nostalgia is so beautifully painful.
Same here
Respect fellow dovahkiin
Same with me
and painfully beautiful
I was 10 and now I’m 20, I still haven’t found another game the way Skyrim made me feel
"What if these are the good old days?" 🤯
Isn't it amazing how those first few notes can transport you back to the time all our heads were lost in the wilderness of Skyrim. A good time. A simpler time.
I was 14 when skyrim came out ten years ago. I put in literal thousands of hours of free time in between school, training and my social life happily into the game. I came to this vid hoping to find nice, familiar ambiance to fall asleep to but now I’m taking a trip back down memory lane.
Same as myself brother
And I was 3 when it came out. Time flashes by.
The man who wrote this music is an absolute genius and legend.
I came here for some peaceful music to read to, and now I'm feeling sad and nostalgic for a simpler time. Reading all these comments makes me feel less alone tho 🥲
You'll never feel alone, we might not be ass popular as we were back in 2012, but we are here to help, support, and chat too. Skyrim will not die, we will be in sovengarde, awaiting new members
Blessings.
God, I hope when I die; I am reborn into a beautiful world like Skyrim.
Hehe. Dragon go brrrrrrr
@Egolo Egman and after all of that, retire due to a injurie on your knee due to the penetration of an arrow...
We're all gonna make it, brah...
@@TheGreatAustino FUAARRRRKKK BRAH, FOREVER MIRIN
Then immediately sent to the stratosphere
skyrim has a special place in my heart, litterally one of the best games I've ever played. It's absolutely beautiful and fairy-tale like .
I’ve been a gamer my entire life and have played a huge range of games over the years. Strangely I never played Skyrim until last year. One thing I will say is no other game gives off that “feeling” Skyrim gives off. I find myself listening to these playlists whenever I’m stressed or can’t sleep. They just bring a wave of calm over me. What a timeless masterpiece
Genuinely just brought a tear to my eye of me being so involved and lost in this game, life was so much simpler, this is a happy memory I long for.

Sometimes I wish I could explain to people I discuss about games, how amazing Skyrim is. Nostalgia hits hard when I remember the good old times. I really wanna start playing again when the new update of Beyond Skyrim will get released. Still have my old account.
wait...what?
It' s not an update, is a mod, that adds new content :)
A lot of new content
Went through it twice. Would be nice to have a reason to go exploring again.
Alain Archambault you can always scamper about the overworld.
Memories of 13 years ago just came flooding back with this.
I wish really savored my childhood instead of being in a hurry to grow
up.
Me: Just ignore the dragon in the background. Enjoy the music.
Inner Me:
*INTENSE URGE TO SPRINT TEN MILES JUST TO KILL THE DAMN DRAGON*
Actually not relatable at all lol
Exactly how I feel when I see a free soul worth the taking
Cuz the Dragon be like AAAAAAAAAAAAAA in the distance
Miraak : *exists*
Ladies who like Skyrim = Respect +100 .
This game got me through some of the loneliest and saddest of times....I will be on my deathbed and will still cherish my memories playing this through my 20s
All those years ago we played a game of beauty and bravery, it shall live on by our hearts for another 10 years my fellow skyrim players
Make it 11❤️
It's insane to think this game is now 13 years old and never once have I gotten tired of playing it!
My boyfriend plays this when I sleep over. Now it's the only thing that puts me to sleep. I don't even play skyrim but it just makes me feel safe.
Edit: We are happily engaged and own a house together!
I love this
That's pretty cute 🥺
Win at life
I also love this.
At this point I don't think any Elder Scrolls game will be better than Skyrim. I've built it up in my head so much and I still love playing it to this day. So many memories just listening to the music.
For me, it was Morrowind. But then Morrowind was the first ES game I played... And I had a 4 day old baby when Skyrim released. I still haven't "finished" playing through it, lol. My gaming years book ended by two of their games. I miss escapism.
Sadly no new Elder Scrolls will ever be better than the past ones...
This game made me power through depression and suicidal thoughts. I always had the urge to get back to it like Fallout New Vegas. They both hold a very dear place in my heart
Let us all agree that Fallout New Vegas is hands down the best Fallout of all time
@@bubby0220 I'm afraid that's your opinion. Doesn't mean I don't like fallout, I just prefer some others. Mainly because I started playing them first
@@narcleptik Just because you prefer others, doesn’t make them better. Just better to you. New Vegas is, and always will be #1.
