Sadly people are much more likely to choose subscription that pay one off. And it’s always more money after all for company as you need to pay to use it. One off means they need to develop new one and try to keep the customer.
Great to see finally a critical comparison for UH ring. Got mine few weeks ago. App and exchange needs improvements, but at least on my side I get regular recommendations what to change when sleep scores are low and similar events. Finally your score comparisons are pretty similar considering that both will calculate them differently, so rather positive surprise on that end for me
I think you sold me on the Oura. I'm focusing on Wellness as a whole and I think this will be useful..even though it looks like I'm stuck wearing my Apple watch, which I was hoping to ditch. Thank you for your unbiased and well thought out reviews!
Thanks for the review Shervin. It was nice to see this one after Circular ring. New companies are joining Oura in smart ring business but their primary novelty is one-off payment, rather than measurement accuracy. That's how they advertise their products. I don't like subscription models either but data accuracy is more important. As far as I can see, none of the newcomers have gone further in measurement accuracy. And to some people like me, the ring alone doesn't mean much if it is not able to measure a few metrics with high accuracy giving the fact that you are paying 300$ for it. I am excited about the upcoming reviews as well, RingConn and Iris. I am especially excited for Iris because it looks like it will have a slimmer form factor than others. It has blood pressure measurement feature on their roadmap. A big novelty in wearable devices. Something that the community has been waiting for a long time. If they are able to release a product consistent with their promises, Iris can be my first smart ring. We'd like to see a quintet review sometime near the end of this year, comparing Oura, Circular, RingConn, UltraHuman and Iris, and only you can do it Shervin :) And we have Evie ring from Movano launching as well but they promote it only for women. Interesting business model. Let's see how smart ring business grows.

For me the best thing about Oura is they don’t emit emf radiation in airplane mode, therefore no issues down the line from those other devices health wise😅
Was seriously considering an Oura ring or Ultrahuman, but as a CriticalCare RN, my hands are in water and gloves...and things we won't talk about here, so much of the day, the thickness of the ring was a negative for me. Always enjoy your videos.
I’m going to buy oura ring mainly they been there for long time and it has better quality experience while ultra human is new but hey it’s $10 subscription a month in Australia which if people complain and they have subscription for anything like Netflix etc are silly haha

I understand that you can input fitness activity into the app but it still seems silly to have to remove a device that tracks fitness before you go to the gym. A slimmer/silicone coated version would be more appealing. Thanks!!
a question guys: when I do my 10km run does the oura ring show live tracking info at my iphone14 screen? I mean the heart rate, the route in the map etc just like a smart watch

You don’t NEED anything! These are all tools, find the best tool for your job. It all depends on your goals, level of effort you want to put in, and what you prefer wearing when
I personally love that the Oura ring doesn’t have any interface. So I don’t have to have a screen on me at all times which is helpful for staying focused and minimizing my tech addiction. I also find it more subtle, comfortable, and aesthetically appealing. :)
I'm happy with my RingConn. It was a good upgrade from my Oura ring. Just looking at the data transfer rate and charging makes the Oura ring seem very obsolete. I was grandfathered in so I don't pay the Oura ring subscription fee. But that still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. With RingConn there will never be a subscription fee.
The iris looks cool. But has a subscription like Oura, which is a huge negative. Plus it is 37% smaller which means it has at least a 37% smaller battery. My RingConn was 6.5 days between charges when it was new. Now it is a little over 2 days. 37% of those numbers would be 4 days new and 2.5 days. I could see daily then twice a day charging with the Iris.
I have an Oura ring. I literally only put it on before I go to bed to track sleep and recovery. For everything else I use my Epix. Activity tracking with a ring is not great. Even if it could track a workout perfectly, I probably wouldn't use it as I dont want anything on my hands when Im lifting etc. Edit: oh and in regards to the Oura ring and charger sizes, as long as the ring size is bigger than the charger diameter it WILL charge the ring (I have 3 different charger pads). To make it charge consistently, all that matters is that the center point of the notchless (smooth) part of the ring, makes contact with the center point of the notchless (smooth) part of the charger.

All rings have some sort of bump or notch. It’s very slight and helps denote the top or bottom of the ring

Ok that’s good to know! So as long as you have the biggest size then all the other chargers will work with it
