A subscription to view my data is like a subscription for the air conditioning you already have in your car! I’ll give it a hard pass! Get a Garmin. No subscription and tons of data, forever, for free! 😊
I used to agree with this. However I’ve now decided that I don’t mind paying a small subscription fee to a company that is continuing to research and develop new features for a device that I own. Means they can spend less on advertising to new customers and more on the research side of things
3 things to add for Ultrahuman: 1. Workout tracking is available in beta now, however, the heart rate accuracy is way off. 2. It also leaves gaps in HR and HRV data when it can’t get good readings. 3. Apple Health import is not as robust - it doesn’t read heart rate data from other wearables and does not update movement index with just a workout import - need to be wearing the ring while working out. Also, it doesn’t write steps and sleep data to Apple Health yet, though its expected to do that after an update by end of September! And as always, super detailed and entertaining video Shervin :)
Thx for the comparison. I really wanted to get one earlier this year, almost pulled the trigger to buy a Oura 3. But I generally hate subscriptions especially after I've already purchased the hardware and Oura is basically useless when you don't have a subscription. Rumor has it Samsung will announce their ring next year. I like the design of Ultrahuman Air a lot, but still on the fence. I'll probably get one next year. Sticking to my Apple Watch for now.
"The data is cool, it's interesting... but if it's not going to change your life, it's not gonna change your behavior... it's a nice paperweight, don't buy it." This is going to stick with me for a long time. Thanks for keeping it real. Much respect.
So far this is one of the best videos I've seen on smart rings. I wonder if there is a list for best smart rings for people with severe chronic illness yet, like I have. For me keeping tabs on my health in real time is very important and helpful without having to solely rely on my bulky an *loud* wrist cuff monitor all the time. This way I can see if something is off an then I have the option to look into it further and use my bulky wrist/finger readers to be sure on whats up with my stats. An yes I got a smart watch but I struggle with them. I don't really like anything heavy round my wrist and break out easy with them. I use it mostly just when Im exercising now a days. But I love rings! But I'm really not too tech savvy an brain damaged (destroyed my sense of time an lobg term memory) an that has been making comparisons difficult. 😅
Oura Ring gen2 owner since over 5 years now. Îd say that's pretty durable and luckily, as a early gen2 adopter, I got free cloud souscription for life (of that ring 😅). After 5 years and two months, I have now to charge it everyday. But the battery life is still one and a half day. All cost taken in account, IF a gen 3 last 5 years as well, the subscription would double the price of the ring. But if an UltraHuman lasts two years, well, the TCO at 5 years will be similar...
@@superkikim4916 my Gen 3 Oura lasted around 2 years and then had an issue with the battery lasting just over a day… oura replaced it for free though which was awesome and it’s been good ever since
Thank you for your well thought out, unbiased review. The first problem I ran into with Ultrahuman is ring sizing. I got 3 different sizes with their sizing App. I don't like that UltraHuman and Oura require you pre-buy your ring in order to get a sizing kit sent to you. I ordered my sizing kit for Oura from Best Buy for $10 and got a $10 GC from them, which will go towards the ring (if I decide to buy it). Trying to get away from my Apple watch and wear traditional. Was hoping a smart-ring was the answer but it seems that all reviewers use the watch by day and ring by night. Wah-Wah-Waaaaaaaaaaaah...
Just a reminder that you dont have to do what others do. Just because youtubers wear one during the day and one at night, doesnt stop you wearing your smart ring full time and ditching the smartwatch entirely :) Yeah it won't have a screen but if you don't want a screen on your wrist anyway, what do you really lose?
Thinking of swapping to a smart ring instead of a smart watch just since it's less annoying to have on they're still quite expensive though debating the investiment
This video you did on smart rings is fantastic, the best yet,I went with ring conn, charging box,the shape of ring, great information, got there sizing kit for a dollar on Amazon, again, thanks for doing such great videos
Very thorough and fair review of all three. As you alluded to, these need to fit TIGHTLY to work well. As Oura said in their sizing instructions, it should take a second or two to remove it. Plus then, you won't lose it.
i will be happy if they develop, design and sell their own ring...currently i have the oura because i wanted to wear regular watches and not my apple watch so much.
Ended up getting the Oura ring recently only because its covered by HSA/FSA. I paid ~$65 in total out of the ~$600 for a 3 year warranty stealth horizon ring and the rest is covered by HSA from my company. So price points to product is unbeatable here.
Hey, not sure if I missed it in the video, but how do you feel about lifting with those things on? I don't like to keep my watch on, but I can't imagine lifting with those rings everyday. Love your channel! It has a lot of answers to the questions that I had in mind.
Great Q! I don’t like lifting with them on, I would not recommend either. They will scratch much easier if you do and it makes your grip feel weird depending on the finger you put on
Personally, I don’t wear rings purely because I don’t like rings. but I’ll consider having a smart ring If it is gold with beautiful gemstones or diamonds as well on it. Also it has to be light in weight and more importantly, dainty for a small hand such as my head and I don’t want to have a ring just to check up my heart rate my blood pressure etc. to me that’s so ridiculous. I’m not a hypochondriac. I preferred the ring to be able to control my Mac, my smart TV otherwise I’ll pass.
Can you make a video about cheap vs expensive fitness trackers? and compare the accuracy of the most expensive with the cheapest. Example: Mi band, vs Apple Watch...
I appreciate your review. The discount link did not work and the purchase is already complete so it is what it is. But you know, it is always disheartening when you get fooled in that way. I hope that it was just an accident, maybe you should double check your link. I used your link and I bought the Oura. Good luck to your channel

So wait… none of them provide accurate data? Then why would I choose any of them? Why on earth do you have so many? What is the point if they don’t provide you with accurate data?
When I got my oura I wore the oura and my garmin (fenix5) in parallel for some time. The oura gave the same data as the garmin. The rings are most useful for trends tho. My oura has told me everytime I was about to get sick before I actually got noticable symptoms, 2x Covid, 1x Influenza. Which I find is pretty impressive. I got a smart ring because it's much nicer to wear during the night and very unintrusive.
Great review! I dig my Ultra….but there are times I’d like to wear a dress watch but would still like to capture my health data integrated with apple health and it would be nice not to sleep with a watch. I don’t want monthly fees…which one do you think?
I have had an oura ring for nearly two years now, pretty happy with it. It gets expensive with the subscription though. I like wearing traditional watches and using Android. Rings and the whoop strap have looked like good options but the subscription seems like a big drawback to me. I am also not a ring person. What is your recommendation? Dual wield watches or break down and go with a whoop strap?
Hi what do you recommend for for continuous pulse oximeter monitoring? On oxygen that is most important to me…and do you have any current promo links ty
I just ditched my Oura after almost a year. My specific problem is that it almost never tracked my sleep. But generally, the app tries to provide the data at such a high level when it shows nothing, I can't figure out what is wrong. I know it tracks pulse, but is it missing O2 levels? For that matter, how do I even check my O2 levels, since they only seem to expose it via sleep sessions?
One thing I've been seeing on my apple watch is 20-30 minutes of deep sleep and my Oura used record more than that. I've been trying to find the charger to my Oura to see if they're similar and something is wrong with my sleep. I see you have 1hr 40m. Envious because I never wake feeling rested.
@@ShervinShares - So it’s hard to provide a ton of detailed data analysis on these rings. You might be able to from Oura but for the other two it’s hard to export a block of data to do heart rate comparisons. I think your review was perfect. Very practical and helpful for people trying to pick between these three.
I bought a Nex Ring in China rmb800, cheap, it's ok just lacks exercing data but I think all of these rings do that. They sent me the ring kit. After selecting, I received the new ring in 2 days.. titanium chrome with a coating to minimize the scratches. 7days battery life Linktop is the designer they manufacturer a lot of medical grade products.
Hi Shervin, Great video! Thanks 🙏🏻 Please can I ask you an advice? Which ring can I buy to monitor the oxygen % continuously and vibrate if is too low. I d’like to try this kind of device for a young girl suffering a respiratory rare disease ❤
Ur convincing me to not get a ring when thinking about washing and typing on computer all day. Maybe I'll do Fitbit. That said I beat up my old Fitbit when watching my kids.
I like the health stuff, but I am looking for a smart ring that can act like smart NFC contactless payment. Example google pay. I have a NFC smart watch, phone, and a contactless bank card. Is there such a smart ring available in the USA to do such contactless payments?
This is my first video I've seen of yours so forgive my ignorance. But I noticed you also wear a Garmin. Which ring do you think makes up for the shortcomings that Garmin has? For example sleep metrics. Or which one works in tandem the best for you. Because we know the fitness metrics on the garmin are going to be better. But the connect iq isnt the best app.
Question: did you use the ring sizing kit first for the Ultrahuman Ring Air? If yes, did you experience a difference in the feel between the size tester ring and the actual ring? For background, the only ring I've ever worn in the past is a wedding ring, which had smooth, rounded edges, and was able to leave it on while showering or washing my face. I'm currently testing the Ultrahuman sizing kit ring and noticed that when I wash it basically scratches my face. The sizing ring is a different material than the actual ring and it just for ring sizing, so I'm wondering if the actual ring is shaped differently.
As always a great review ! Circular Ring is missing but that's ok for now because we'll ask you a 6-fold review anyway in the new year with the arrival of Iris Ring and the Ring One, both coming up with big claims like blood pressure measurement in their Indiegogo campaigns. What do you think about them Shervin ? Will they be able to keep their promise ? Samsung is also aiming a smart ring launch sometime in 2024, not to leave the market to the young rivals.
i was looking at them, but i think its too early on with circular to fairly compare them. Give it another year or two for circular to have a chance to develop further and improve, then they'll have a better chance
Can you charge the Oura ring using the ringconn charging case? Seems to use the same Suzhou battery supplier so I would assume the charging tech should be compatible. I like Oura but hate the charger. I’m interested in getting a used ringconn just for the mobile charging case. If you can test that I would appreciate it.
And just a note. The idea would be to purchase a ringconn charger with a ring size smaller than the Oura ring that I have. I might 3D print a spacer to help make the ring seat better too
Smart Ring question: 1. Does the ring need to be within so many feet of a smart phone or can the smart phone be in another state where my daughter lives?
This guy says oh well this one It kind of gets stuck a little bit when it's coming off my finger yeah that's what supposed to happen it's not supposed to slip on and off like a hot dog getting thrown down a hallway That's the whole point of ring staying on your finger is that when you're growing over your finger knuckle that it gets stuck a little bit so it keeps the ring on while you're wearing it
Yeah rings are dangerous in general. The moment you take it off, you have a good chance of losing it... Way too easy. Best thing is to get into habit to ALWAYS put it in your pocket if you do in extreme chance take it off, but rest of the time just leave it on or leave it off if you can't until you get home. Leave it on, or leave it home - pocket works for me for most time, but is also potentially dangerous
I am considering a ring for use while playing volleyball to track my activity primarily. I already have the Google Nest Hun Display with sleep sensing for snore tracking and an Apple Watch 7 that I sleep with. I did a sleep study and want a device that would help with snore as sleep apnea tracking. What do you recommend? Is there 1 device that would work for volleyball and sleep apnea tracking?
Ultrahuman is great specially paired with the glucose sensor, but their pricing and the charging dock are a NO, I'm not going back to any subscription based system ever again!
i've had the oura gen 3 for about 7 months now. while it has been useful overall, i'm definitely not stoked about the sub fee. for the initial cost (which seems like it must be a very healthy mark up from manufacturing cost), i would say all basic features should be included.. $20/yr would be much more reasonable in my mind and skip the meditation, etc sections. so much of that out there already, or allow those who want to be more part of the oura community to pay for what they want. certainly any upgrades could come with a fee. as well, for the money it'd be nice if you could connect to your larger screen device and interact with all the data on one screen and stored on your own hardware. the other thing i'm a bit disappointed by is that the data is not more granular. it would be nice to be able to zoom in on a larger screen device and totally sync where any tags are relative to the various data sets. perhaps i am missing it, but i don't see any option for this type of sync anywhere. i was really hoping that it would be very obvious that you have caffeine/sugar/alcohol/protein/carbs/toxic pharma or whatever that might impact your vitals and it would be right there for the interpretation. certainly illuminate me should you know otherwise. i will look some more, but at this point haven't stumbled across it. again, to have it all available on a larger screen device would make it much more worth the cost and effort. for most of my work, a phone screen is simply inadequate and so i definitely minimize the time i spend looking at a phone screen. as far as the data sets go, they generally fall in a range that i haven't found too many activities impact all that consistently. caffeine, for instance, really doesn't have a consistent impact on my quality of sleep, though it will for many others obviously. i have ranged from 3 months without to within a few hours before sleep. again i wish the charting was a level or 2 up, but it is rudimentary, which for the total cost is a bit of a disappointment. i don't know how much more than a b/b+ i could go and won't likely continue with the sub for more than a year once my various comparisons have had enough time to yield any results. as well, the sizing kit seems like a bit overkill unless you have someone to pass it on to. quick measure of relevant fingers and fire off 3 sizes in the smallest packaging possible would be my efficiency model to keep profits high and costs low. the blood glucose monitor shown from ultrahuman combined with more granular, interactive data and a few more improvements in the general functionality of the software/app would give a much more complete picture of the bio-markers that would allow for informed decision making and improve value and overall experience. early days i suppose and perhaps my expectations are unrealistic, but my two cents for anyone who finds them useful.
Dude wearing 3 watches at once😂. I am guilty of wearing 2 since I love the phone calling on Apple watch9. but love media features on Samsung watch 5 Pro!
I could ask you to review the Femometer, but you wouldn't get any readings. 😄 The Oura has been touted as a TTC ring, but with a sub I sure won't be buying it. Actually a TTC ring can potentially change your life. 😊

Why not include the Circular ring in the comparison? You showed it. I had the Motiv ring as well. I wish they had made it.
Just picked up a RingConn for $222 with your code. Thanks! 💪
I’m curious, did you do any testing on index finger vs ring or middle finger? I was wondering if you did, if you discovered any variability. Thanks!
This video is excellent. Nice work Shervin. 👏🏻
Thank you so much 😀 do you think i could've been more detailed in any other area??
@@ShervinShares - So it’s hard to provide a ton of detailed data analysis on these rings. You might be able to from Oura but for the other two it’s hard to export a block of data to do heart rate comparisons. I think your review was perfect. Very practical and helpful for people trying to pick between these three.
Very good point: What’s my normal (health) values? You would think Doctors would establish this for each patient.
Doctors mostly use a baseline too. Not as tailored as you’d like.
Excellent video brother. Much appreciated.
Hi Shervin,
Great video! Thanks 🙏🏻
Please can I ask you an advice?
Oura has the NFC coming in Ouraring 4
Which one of these allows the user to turn off bluetooth, i.e airplane mode? Thanks for the compaeison?
Very nice review. Which ring (if andy) is the best for AFIB detection?
Nice review!
Have you used it during running and compared with Fitbit/Apple Watch or similar, how exact is the steps count then?
Any of these rings have a a smart alarm? Where it wakes you up in light sleep?
Can you charge the Oura ring using the ringconn charging case? Seems to use the same Suzhou battery supplier so I would assume the charging tech should be compatible. I like Oura but hate the charger. I’m interested in getting a used ringconn just for the mobile charging case. If you can test that I would appreciate it.
And just a note. The idea would be to purchase a ringconn charger with a ring size smaller than the Oura ring that I have. I might 3D print a spacer to help make the ring seat better too
omg i was thinking the same thing. Hey Shervin could you please do this test??🙏
When my warranty replacement for my gen3 arrives, I'll try that.
Shervin, I love your videos! Thank you!!
Smart Ring question:
1. Does the ring need to be within so many feet of a smart phone or can the smart phone be in another state where my daughter lives?
Ultrahuman is the best imo
This guy says oh well this one It kind of gets stuck a little bit when it's coming off my finger yeah that's what supposed to happen it's not supposed to slip on and off like a hot dog getting thrown down a hallway That's the whole point of ring staying on your finger is that when you're growing over your finger knuckle that it gets stuck a little bit so it keeps the ring on while you're wearing it
would you say if you buy the sizer thing that a "6" in oura would be the same as a "6" ultrahuman or are all the sizings completely different?
Thank you!
What watch are you wearing on your left hand?
Best advice-buy what you aren't going to lose!!! 💯
can the ringconn charging case be charged or do you have to buy a new one after it runs out?
I wish these came in size 5. My size is actually 4.5.
These are cool for all day tracking, but you do need an apple watch/garmin for workout tracking and I don't know how good the integration is.
Rings are more geared towards lifestyle tracking. Fitness is something they don’t excel at (yet, we are probably a few gens away from parity).
Do any of these measure Oxygen continuously?
I am considering a ring for use while playing volleyball to track my activity primarily. I already have the Google Nest Hun Display with sleep sensing for snore tracking and an Apple Watch 7 that I sleep with. I did a sleep study and want a device that would help with snore as sleep apnea tracking. What do you recommend? Is there 1 device that would work for volleyball and sleep apnea tracking?
i think we can trust this person by looking at all the smart things all around his body..
Excellent video, always with lots of details!
thank you!
is there a technical detail ? i think dont
whats the oura ring idscount? or is there none going through ur link?
Does the charger come with when you buy the oura ring?
Just get a Garmin watch like the Venu 2. Much more functionality, less likely to get damaged or in the way and itll tell you the time.
Ultrahuman is great specially paired with the glucose sensor, but their pricing and the charging dock are a NO, I'm not going back to any subscription based system ever again!
How does the data gathering and stats compare to base model Fitbit?
I'm looking for a ring that i can connect to my phone and have the ring make phone calls. Also, no subscription. Do you know of one?
great video!
Thanks!
Hi Shervin, Can I know what is the watch brand and model you're wearing on your left wrist? Thanks
Garmin Epix Pro gen 2
i've had the oura gen 3 for about 7 months now. while it has been useful overall, i'm definitely not stoked about the sub fee. for the initial cost (which seems like it must be a very healthy mark up from manufacturing cost), i would say all basic features should be included..
I wouldn't mind one of the rings , but id never get it over my huge finger joints .
Does anybody maybe have an oura discount link? Thank you
Dude wearing 3 watches at once😂.
