Basically, what you pay for with WHOOP is the subscription for the accurate technology itself, the band is just a freebie. Also, like Oliur said in the video, WHOOP is more focused in fitness, so if you are not into fitness (moderate-hardcore), it may not just be for you. I would instead also recommend the ring or apple watch to you if you are not a fitness-first person.
This whole "buy a physical product and than pay extra for a subscription model" is an entire scam. So I am basically investing in a company, and I am at their mercy when it comes to pricing. Because if they change the pricing and I don't want to use the service anymore, I am stuck with a +200$ investment. I'd never buy such a product.

whoop is insanely detailed. It's almost overwhelming how much it tracks and how much info you get from it. Was super useful to me as a college athlete, but since then it just feels way over the top.
What is cool about the whoop over any device is it is all based on strain. As an example, if I sat at my desk all day my whoop would say my strain is low and to get out there and walk, run or whatever I wanted to do. If I dont even start an activity but work hard in the warehouse all day my heart rate goes up and gives me credit for strain. It takes that automatically as basically a workout. Unless you start your Garmin as a work out while let’s say working a job all it will do is drain your body battery and not give you any load. The other day just for the heck of it I decided to put my watch on cardio on my Garmin and do my normal work activities while working and in 2 hours gave me load of 100. If I wouldn’t have started the workout it would have done nothing but drain my body battery and gave me steps for the day. My whoop counted it all automatically.
I don't care how good the Whoop band is. I'm not paying a subscription for my health data. There are plenty of good options out there that don't paywall your health data.

It is virtually equivalent to my Polar H10. I find the Apple Watch far more confortable. However, the Apple Watch does not have well developed recovery tracking because it does not measure HRV automatically. The Whoop is great for sleep and recovery but absolutely terrible for activity tracking. It has the lowest correlation to the Polar H10. The Ring is great for tracking sleep and recovery. It actually was better at tracking activity than the Whoop. So glad I came across this video, I've been looking for a ring sleep and recovery tracker that DO NOT have a monthly subscription. The ring covers literally everything I was looking for.
I’ve had them all and returned them all. Waste of money. People just need to have balance and watch what they eat. Work out and have a plan. You don’t need an $800 device to tell you that.
3 days before I got my whoop, Its amazing but subscription model is wried, anyway! I feel like everyone talking about whoop on internet! I think Whoop marketing team is working really hard!
Used both the Apple Watch and Whoop for 2.5 years but once the AW8 came out I just stuck with the watch. I figured I would always need the time for the gym or while running, and once the 8 came out with the improved battery life I was finally able to use it throughout the day and night for sleep tracking. The Whoop was also wildly inaccurate when it came to sports with heavy hand movement (Tennis, Football, etc.).
Great video! I have personally started with the OURA ring which I've used for about 18 months. It started bothering me at night as I often have my hand under the pillow and it started to create too much pressure and I woke up frequently. My second purchase was the Whoop band... super comfortable also at night but significantly different in sleep tracking results compared to the OURA ring. Sleep tracking was my main objective so I find it confusing that the results can be that much different. With the OURA ring it is pretty much impossible to get a rating above 95 vs. the Whoop band gives you 100% quite easily, which is also the reason why so many influencers brag about their great sleeping results with that band :) I certainly did not like the monthly fee with OURA and after I have learned what I could learn with it I stopped my subscription and sold the ring. The Whoop band is even more expensive monthly which is why I think about getting the Apple watch as well, so this video is very helpful!!
I'd have loved it if Oliur had used the Athlytic App in Conjuntion with the Apple Watch and maybe have thrown in a Garmin Fenix into the mix as that thing is amazing for fitness!!
had the same opinion on calorin tracking for workouts with my normal Apple watch, but for nearly a year I have used the apple watch ultra and it looks way more correct with this one.
Amazing video. Been wondering how accurate a tracking ring could be compared to other devices and I'm pleasantly surprised! Just a note about you having trouble sleeping 9 hours, that's not a bad thing!! Average adults require between 7:30 and 8 hours of sleep to reach optimal form when everything else (exercise and nutrition) is, again, average. The fact you managed to reach 7 hours so consistently with the life and schedule you have is already very impressive imo
I love the idea of a ring, which is why I purchased the Motiv ring when it came out. They ended up selling the technology and went out of business a year or so later. I wasted $200+. I won't do that again!
I wish I didn't hate wearing my Apple Watch to bed so much. I've tried 6-7 times now and it always ends up bothering me so much I take it off. Maybe I should get a ring or something
It's been a bit over a year. I'd love to get an update from you about these three trackers. Especially with the Athlytic app also giving incredible health insights based on the Apple Watch itself. I am currently testing the Ultrahuman Ring Air, have the Apple Watch, and also started using a Polar H10 for some advanced testing (HRV & resting heart rate). It's an absolutely fascinating field of self development.
The apple watch really is NOT good at sleep tracking. I've just been diagnosed with severe sleep apnoea, and my apple watch seems to think I've been sleeping great every night this whole time...
tried whoop and stayed with the watch. Dont like the subscription model at all, rather pay 500 upfront and have the device forever with trade in option maybe, than paying 20+ a month. Also whoop track a lot effortlessly but when its about to work out at the gym you need to put he exercises and reps manually, apple watch (with external app) can detect that by itself, also kinda like to have an option to skip my music, change volume on the go and see heart rate within seconds or always with AOD, dont want to use my phone to see the stats. So for this reason stayed with apple watch also the answering phone calls and pinging a phone is a must. However the sleep stats and recovery score, smart alarm with whoop is the top of the league however its not worth paying 20£ a month to see the sleep stats (at least for me, there are freak people who will pay and are paying for this)
I really like Whoop band but the problem is that you have to pay for subscription every month, so I'm considering to get Ultrahuman ring air but problem with these rings is that you cant wear it while weight training also Ive heard that the software isn' great either & I think with WatchOS 11 Apple watch would be able to track sleep more accurately without putting it to sleep mode every time. So I might wait for Samsung or Apple to launch their ring.
As a runner, I personally love my Whoop. It's definitely not perfect, but it's helpful to have some data to go on. Is this device for everyone, definitely not.
I have had the Apple Watch, it's ok but doesn't track naps. I use for my sleep an old Huawei and for that it's very consistent. Just bought the ultra ring, to not have to change watch when I sleep and it absolutely reeeeeeks, it's god awful, it doesn't register naps, and it's always losing time of sleep at night. I'm giving the whoop band a chance I think.
12:37 I would imagine the Whoop to be much better at tracking heart rate in general. The reasoning being the Whoop is getting so many more data readings per minute than the Apple Watch.
How do you know the Apple Watch overestimates kcal burned? Or does the Whoop underestimate it? On what basis do you make that claim? The Apple Watch has better heartbeats tracking then the whoop.
I have the Ultrahuman it gives me all the information I need. I'm not that pedantic. I think that it's improved via updates alot. My only critiques are I wish they offered half sizes for the ring. And that it can be uncomfortable for some weight lifting.
The Apple watch is completely underwhelming for health tracking with Apple's native apps. You really need to use something like Athlytic which provides all the same metrics as something like Whoop or Garmin.
Let’s compare whoop, which tracks health, to the actual sports club that I subscribe to… same initiation cost. Whoop asks for $30 a month, while the club asks for $72 for a month supplying me with pool, state of the art machines, beautiful views, yoga and other group classes… Come one man.
for WHOOP, what's keeping me from subscribing, is the complete lack of glanceable indication, mainly that of heart rate - I don't really care how far I've run, any the time isn't as crucial either (though it would be great to have as well, NGL). But if only they just incorporated at least an LED indicator to show HR zones, than it'd be top. Anyone know when the 5.0 is coming out?
You should definetly try some Garmin device. Body battery there is amazing. I track every day for over 2 years and there was none with inconsistency measuring. And if you look there at sleep score, rest HR and body battery as a complex number, there is amazing tracking - sometimes you can have long sleep and so good score, but at the same time you can feel not so good - and i will it as low body battery (in case of alcohol in the evening or hard training, whatever).
Oliur, I'd love to see you try the Zoe Glucose Monitor. I've seen a lot of positive feedback, as its measuring your internals and they have a cool app to go with it. Would love to hear back 👊
is the vibration on it more intense than an apple watch. and is it actually enough to wake you up. my apple watch would vibrate until it ran dead and it would be dead in the morning from my experience.
I feel it would be better to do a video were you use them for a month but never look at the data and just record a video each day on how you feel. Similar to what Better Ideas did with his sleep tracking video. As one big issue with the whole “recovery” stuff is that when you wake up and see it saying “you got bad recovery” you will then start to feel worse and start justifying doing things that would correlate with being “low recovery” Just an idea as it would allow for less mental interference from day to day, that way you can learn if it’s actually lining up.
while I get that people don’t like having to subscribe after purchasing the product. The cost isn’t that bad, $70/year. People spend more money per year on coffee than this.
Just wear weight lifting gloves while wearing your ring. I'm wearing Apple 8 and Ultrahuman Air ring. Whoop strap is subscription which is a deal breaker for me.
I use the Apple watch for a rough estimate of the calories i burn daily. So if everyday it says I burn “400” active calories and i decide to lose weight then i just adjust my eating and strive to keep burning that “400” calories
Is there any Apple Watch App that specifically uses the well-measured data recorded by the watch (not gathering themselves) and puts it into a nice interface with sleep and readiness score?
Hi, is there a way i can see apple watch data and compare things between different dates? I can't find anything neither via the apple watch nor the health app on iphone
Ultrahuman is a great tracker with a very bad hardware and awesome customer service. In 6 months, this is my third ring. Today it has stopped being detected by my phone, I.e., the Bluetooth of the ring has stopped working. So probably i am looking at my 4th ring.
To add, non of these devices are “accurate”. Yes the Apple Watch is over which is true but they can’t truly track a workout based on your heart rate and your weight. It has zero idea into your intensity and the only way to truly do it is to track your weight daily and calories in. Really depends on what you value. Do you value the health data so much to be spending hours each day inputting info?
Love the idea of the Whoop strap. I just wish it didn’t have a subscription service and was just a one time cost

But if only they just incorporated at least an LED indicator to show HR zones, than it'd be top. Anyone know when the 5.0 is coming out?
What’s the difference between the UltraHuman Ring and Oura ring?
The question is the tracking consistence and comparable with both
You should definetly try some Garmin device.
Ia less accurate
Love your videos! What strap are you using on your apple watch? Looks cool. Thanks
Ooooh would love to see you using a CGM next !!
yess
Omg Shervin, i would love a "what i eat in a week video" from you too 😂 its the healthy eating part that i always struggle with LOL@@ShervinShares
Oliur, I'd love to see you try the Zoe Glucose Monitor. I've seen a lot of positive feedback, as its measuring your internals and they have a cool app to go with it. Would love to hear back 👊
Thank you! This was thorough.
is the vibration on it more intense than an apple watch. and is it actually enough to wake you up. my apple watch would vibrate until it ran dead and it would be dead in the morning from my experience.
I feel it would be better to do a video were you use them for a month but never look at the data and just record a video each day on how you feel. Similar to what Better Ideas did with his sleep tracking video.
As one big issue with the whole “recovery” stuff is that when you wake up and see it saying “you got bad recovery” you will then start to feel worse and start justifying doing things that would correlate with being “low recovery”
Just an idea as it would allow for less mental interference from day to day, that way you can learn if it’s actually lining up.
while I get that people don’t like having to subscribe after purchasing the product. The cost isn’t that bad, $70/year. People spend more money per year on coffee than this.
Does the health app import the sleep and recovery score data from the ultrahuman ring?
Just wear weight lifting gloves while wearing your ring.
I'm wearing Apple 8 and Ultrahuman Air ring. Whoop strap
is subscription which is a deal breaker for me.
This seems oddly similar to a Shervin video I saw 2 months ago 🤔
I use the Apple watch for a rough estimate of the calories i burn daily. So if everyday it says I burn “400” active calories and i decide to lose weight then i just adjust my eating and strive to keep burning that “400” calories
I found that ultrahuman has been more accurate for sleep and for steps apple watch
The only metric that worked for me and seems very accurate was body battery
Dude thanks for doing this, I'm getting the ring then! Also, what's the song at 9:22? 👀
i wonder if the whoop and ring would pair well together? 🤔
Is there any Apple Watch App that specifically uses the well-measured data recorded by the watch (not gathering themselves) and puts it into a nice interface with sleep and readiness score?
Yes. Athlytic, Superset Health and Chipr.
Apple Watch and Athlytic App. Problem sorted.
great video, thank you so much
great vid mate
Excellent video!
Great review....Thank You
Hi, is there a way i can see apple watch data and compare things between different dates? I can't find anything neither via the apple watch nor the health app on iphone
Is Apple Health the only available aggregator for all these data?
I think you need to use all 3 for at least a year to give us more or a detailed summary coz apple watch has good 3rd party apps for the apple watch
Would never choose one that I have to pay an additional subscription fee. A Garmin is better than these for sure.
Have you tried the Oura Ring or a Garmin watch?
Where/ how do you keep track of what you eat? Find it the most distressful of all things to do. Thanks
MyFitnessPal is an easy app that has helped me stay on top of protein goals
How you track sleeping with Apple Watch? I have Series 3, and I don't know if it's possible with this device. What app do you use?
Does it automatically. Here is a quick guide on setting it up - support.apple.com/en-gb/HT211685
Would you go UltraHuman or Oura?
Thought it was pretty clear from the video that I’d go Ultrahuman lol
@@Oliur Why did you pick UH over Oura?
@@KeyurKumbhare more easily available worldwide and no subscription. It's also thinner than the Oura.
I appreciate the response. Went back and found it at 24th min

Where did you get the jumper from?
Whoop is insane expensive
Loved this video, Oliur.
Would love to see another one of these videos comparing it with the Apple Watch Ultra Gen 2.
Much better title now lmao
where did you get the apple watch strap from?
Great review!!
What Apple Watch band is that?
so wonderful beautiful video Oliur i love it so much to see so nice
Ultrahuman is a great tracker with a very bad hardware and awesome customer service.
In 6 months, this is my third ring. Today it has stopped being detected by my phone, I.e., the Bluetooth of the ring has stopped working. So probably i am looking at my 4th ring.
Whoop is still the best with new AI support. Listening to our body
One Garmin ⌚ to Rule them all.
