I’ve been a daily user of Apple Watch for years and I just started wearing a Whoop 4.0 about a month ago. I wear both daily for different things. Apple Watch is unmatched as a phone sidekick, helping reduce screen time as I can see my messages and calls. Also Apple Health is amazing for tracking workouts, and doing an ECG and blood oxygen whenever I need easily. Whoop has been great for tracking sleep mostly and providing great analytics as far as my baseline health and how what I do during the day factors into my health. Apple Watch downside is having to charge it more frequently and take it off, which can lead to forgetting to put it back on, or sometimes forgetting to charge it. Whoop charging is great because you never have to take it off. Downside of the whoop strap is when it’s wet it can feel kind of gross and uncomfortable, so I take it off when I shower. I love these two devices, but if I had to pick only one I’d have to go Apple Watch.
‘The Apple Watch is an ok sleep tracker’ - there is another channel that scientifically tested devices and Apple was the best sleep tracker. There is a big difference between being the best physical sleep tracker and having the best sleep insights/software that analyze the sleep data.
While the watch is very accurate, there is little insights and data outside duration and the various sleep stages. If Apple could deliver the same level of insights as whoop, or there was a 3rd party app where you could journal and that could also leverage data from the sleep information that was recorded and activity then that would be great but I have not seen an app that is able to deliver the same level of useful insights that whoop can do. Has anyone else?
Athlytic is pretty good. I’m using that with the Apple Watch and the whoop at the same time. Whoop is better overall for analytics, but Apple Watch with Athlytic gets you 80% of the way home. For sleep, I find that the whoop is harder on me as it says I’m awake for longer during the night. The Apple Watch is very forgiving. I’m not sure which is correct to be fair. More research to come.
@@grantvogel759 thanks for your comment and this is really interesting. What do you think of the whoop AI coach? Both from a training aspect? But also helping analyse your health data? I wish apple had a better interface/analytics to help people interpret data as I feel the watch collects almost as much data but does not do a great job presenting the info or insights.
Shervin, I have an Apple Watch Ultra and has served me well for tracking most of my health information except for sleep. For me it is too bulky to use for sleep tracking unless I was backpacking or something, I usually charge it overnight anyhow. I then bought an Ōura ring,it is excellent in tracking my sleep which I exclusively use it for. It is laking in the fact that it doesn’t completely transfer data between all three devices(ring, watch and iphone) seamlessly using the Health app. My “Previous Day Activity” is not logged into my Ōura Ring app. at all. I have to ware my Ōura Ring wile working out for it to register. I usually wear another ring on my finger during the day and never ware any rings when I workout with weights. I solved this by connecting the polar H10 to the Bluetooth on your phone first, and then going into the Apple Watch after. I don’t know if this is what others have tried, but I know the issue you’re describing is a problem, and it was for me as well. It always disconnected when I only connect the Bluetooth to my watch. This seemed to fix it. As a sidenote, I have not tried then leaving my phone at home to go for a run with just a watch. If anybody has any feedback on how that works I’d be curious to hear if it will then disconnect.
@@grantvogel759appreciate you sharing you sharing your experience. I need to use it without the phone (for ice hockey). I’m thinking of buying the polar unite watch just for the h10 strap.
Bro the recovery rate is not a very good estimate to rely on😂 The Apple Watch can take an ECG which is how the chest thing works but good luck doing that while running
@@OlavJ It doesn't. They have a whole article dedicated to why they don't, which boils down to: they think it is irrelevant to overall health, compared to their other metrics
The Apple Watch remains superior because it's a piece of tech that I can still use without any subscription or membership fees, and it won't turn into electronic junk once I stop paying a subscription. The Whoop has been great to use, but once I got some kind of insight after a few months of using, I didn't feel the need to pay for a membership or own one as the average person. I can however see it being better for athletes who need constant monitoring.
I agree, the Apple Watch is great. I can actually get just over 2 days on my Ultra 2 and it is frequently used. No subscription fees. Yes you have to be tied into the Apple eco system but its not a bad thing.
Solid comparison! Personally I’ve been using Huawei fitness bands for the past year and just got their Runner GT watch, has been awesome for tracking workouts and runs with high-accuracy HR tracking and GPS. 10-14 day battery is also huge for me. But I guess you can’t easily buy or use Huawei devices in the US…
Compre Apple watch ultra 2 y Garmin fenix 8.
Why is the Ultra Maps in permanent dark mode - horrible you cannot change to a light mode. In this permanent dark mode the quality-visibility is just poor.

Apple watch an Oura ring combo is the best solution
I don't want a closed ecosystem thanks. World needs openness.
Omg 😂 you are ridiculously lame 😂 would you like me to also tell my mother and my cousins in Mexico how you feel about apple and your “freedom” 😂😂
Which one has the least EMF?
I’m going to keep asking the important questions 😂. When is OuraPay and WhoopPay going to be in testing? 😂😂😂
Bro the recovery rate is not a very good estimate to rely on😂
The Apple Watch can take an ECG which is how the chest thing works but good luck doing that while running
The fact whoop doesn’t track steps is the smallest but biggest reason for me to not get it.
It does not track steps??
@@OlavJ It doesn't. They have a whole article dedicated to why they don't, which boils down to: they think it is irrelevant to overall health, compared to their other metrics
@@kylebiggs8849 wow, thanks for the reply! That’s enough reason for me not to get it
I agree with them. Whoop is not for the average Joe that thinks that doing X thousand of steps is enough exercise.
I don't want a closed ecosystem like Apple thanks. I wanna have freedom
Do you find that the Oura ring gives you more deep sleep than AW?
Great video. Keep in mind most people charge there Apple Watch at night. I’m more lazy so I’m leaning towards the oura ring.
On which area of ur wrist should u wear ur Apple Watch Ultra, how far away from you wrist bone ?
Solid comparison! Personally I’ve been using Huawei fitness bands for the past year and just got their Runner GT watch, has been awesome for tracking workouts and runs with high-accuracy HR tracking and GPS. 10-14 day battery is also huge for me. But I guess you can’t easily buy or use Huawei devices in the US…
Garmin?
Compre Apple watch ultra 2 y Garmin fenix 8.
Why is the Ultra Maps in permanent dark mode - horrible you cannot change to a light mode. In this permanent dark mode the quality-visibility is just poor.
The real answer is actually Garmin.
It doesn't have LTE/esim capabilities. Plus when it comes to sleep/recovery is miles away from whoop.
I'd only have a Garmin if I were a runner and things like that.
For me, smartwatch (not Apple) + whoop/oura
According to the tests done by The Quantified Scientiest (look up his youtube channel) Garmin sleep tracking is mid at best and all three devices in the video are much better.
No lte and not fully integrated with the iPhone. Hard pass as a replacement for the ultra 2 but I changed my mind on the garmin. I’m probably picking up a phoenix 8
Or you buy a Garmin Epix and you have everything together 😅🎉
Wrong. It doesn't have LTE/esim capabilities. Plus when it comes to sleep/recovery is miles away from whoop.
I'd only have a Garmin if I were a runner and things like that.
For me, smartwatch (not Apple) + whoop/oura
For almost the same price of 500$, the apple watch is a no brainer to get instead of a ring…….. (Also the ring wants you to pay membership……) 😂😂😂😂😂
Poor sleep man. Most important thing you do. Three devices, poor sleep.
Working on it 😉
Throw your whoop strap in the washer, it cleans it
One day I’ll have 11h avg sleep
👍🏽👍🏽
This guy sleeps 11 hours
i need my beauty sleep
5th!
This is cringe. Wearables are over.
Lol no
Quit mumbling
