Hi so I’m interested in getting this and I love this video. I’d like to ask how it handles focus? Is it automatic or manual? I prefer manual to create interesting shots.
Thanks for the video, it's really helpful. I was recording an event yesterday and I noticed that the camera seems to have a time limit of 12 minutes, 10 seconds, after which continuous filming cuts off. Can you please tell me whether this a setting that I can change or is it a limitation related to the model itself? I was not aware this would happen and ended up losing some key bits of the event I was recording, so it would be great if I could understand whether this can somehow be modified or whether I should simply record clips in bursts and then pull them together.
Hi, There are two parameters at work here. The camera will record a maximum of 29 minutes continuous video, provided it is below the maximum file size of 4GB. If you record at a low quality, then the camera will run to 29 minutes. if you record at a high quality then the camera will run to 4GB. If you record at the highest recording quality, you hit 4GB in about 12 minutes. Of course you can press the record button immediately and record another 12 minutes (provided the memory card is big enough).
when i'm recording video i hear just a lot of static and beeping when playing it back on a computer, is there any way to fix this? I know it is not the best quality camera for video, but i needed it for my production class. Any help would be appreciated.
The easiest way, i think, is to download it to a computer and then email it to your phone. You can't use the wifi function to do this as it doesn't work for video.

Hi, tysm for making a video on this topic I’ve been looking for answers everywhere 😭 If it’s not too much to ask could u please guide me through the [exact] settings to film sit down videos for my channel using the 4000D? I film in my room and have 2 white LED tube lights but Every time I film there's so much noise and the footage doesn’t look like it’s in 1080p. I’d greatly appreciate it if u could help me out
Hello Haylee. Did you shoot the video about highschool with the 4000D? If so, I think it is pretty good. Firstly I would say that to get better video, you should look at the lens. If you are shooting with the kit lens, then a good prime lens will make the video look better. depending on what focal length is best for you, I would look at either the Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM or Canon 50mm f1.8 STM. A prime lens will always be better than a zoom for fixed photography/video, and the kit lens is generally good, but not great for video. When I shoot my videos, I shoot at 1080/25 fps (or 30 if you are shooting NTSC) and with a shutter speed of 1/60sec. My aperture is f8. So my only variable really is the ISO, which should be as low as possible (whilst keeping the other variables). It shouldn't be above 1600. Your lighting should be on each side. One - your key light - should be high above your face, and the other - the fill light - should be below your face. but actually your lighting looks pretty good. The only other thing I would say is to look at your focussing. I fix my focus, by autofocussing on something that stands just in front of where I will be (where my hands will be for example). Then I switch of autofocus on the lens. That way I know that I will be in focus when I appear in front of the camera, and the focus won't change if I accidentally nudge a button when I am doing something else. Remember with depth of field, 1/3rd of the sharp area is in front of the focal point and 2/3rd is behind, so you can have the camera focus on something just in front of you. The f8 aperture should keep you in focus. I hope that helps. let me know how it goes.
Hello, I was wondering if there is any way to get the white/green square that focuses when using the lcd monitor to the viewfinder when taking pictures? I use to see it but now it's gone.
Hi maybe you could help ...I have a youtube channel too .....all recorded on my phone ....but I want a better quality so I got Canon 750d ...I love it but for some reason I can het focus on my hands well ...I set it all up grrat on manual and focus too but as I am moving my hands for crocheting somehow I always end up out of focus ....I need focus on whole screen ....I used AF multi .....Thank you
I always switch focus to manual. So I will auto focus the camera on the space I want to have in focus, and then switch the manual, so that the focus does not change. Make sure that you have a good aperture - f8 at least, so that you have a good depth of field, that way you can move slightly and still be sharp. I would light it with two lights - one each side and from above so that you can shoot 1/60th second shutter speed ( for 1080 30fps), with a reasonable ISO, say 800 or 1600, and still have that F8 aperture. What lens to do you have?

Hi David, the 4000D is designed only to work with Canon EX flashguns. Third party flashes don't usually work, though the manufacturers are working to get around Canon's restrictions. It may be that the focus will only work as TTL at the moment.
Video snapshot: when should it be set? I have to move the tripod a few places to take videos, but I would like to end up with just one video. If it over rides all the settings, then what happens to that video?
I think video snapshot is a fun function, perhaps if you wanted to record what you are doing on a vacation or short break. It works with spontaneous shooting. But if you want to have some control over video, it is much better to shoot the individual videos normally and then put them together afterwards
the camera is limited either by time or by file size. so you have 29 minutes or 4GB. 4GB at full HD (1080) is about 11 minutes. However this is only for a continuous shot. You can shoot 4GB and then another 4GB etc. So, if you stop filming at the right moment, say when the ball is out of play, and start again immediately, you would be fine.
Can we use the 4000D as a web can with the new software from Canon? If so what cables do we need? What solution would you subject foe battery life if using the 4000D as a webcam?
Hello, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I didn't know the answer so, i had to buy some kit and check it out. Ok, so the answer is yes. You need to download the EOS Webcam Utility Software, which is available on the Canon site. It will work for the 4000D, the 1300D and the 2000D. There are versions of the software for Microsoft and Mac. Activate the software and then switch the camera on and onto video mode. Set the focus and exposure on the camera. Then attach it to the computer via a mini HDMI - to USB cable. If you have the 2000D or 1300D, you may well have got one when you bought the camera. If you need to buy one, make sure it will fit the Canon DSLR camera socket. Then, when attached to the computer, go into the preferences of your webinar software ( I have zoom) and the software should offer you the option of changing the camera from webcam to your Canon camera. Because you are not recording, there shouldn't be a time limit. ( I haven't tried it for longer than about 15 minutes tbh). For the power, I bought a Power Adapter Supply Compatible with Digital Camera Canon EOS 4000D online and it is fine. One thing I didn't realise is that on the 1300D and the 2000D there is a little piece of rubber next to the battery door that lets you shut the door properly. It isn't there on the 4000D, so you will need to carefully clip a corner off the door to let the electric cable out. the door must shut properly or the camera won't go on. With the power adapter in place the camera seems happy to run indefinitely, but please be aware that this isn't a canon adapter, so don't leave it plugged in when you aren't using it. The only other thing you might consider is a ring light, that will illuminate you properly and you can put the camera through the ring for even lighting effect.
@@NikonD5200Channel Hi Thank you for the reply, I have sorted it out. Well kind off !. I worked out the download and even filed a small groove in camera to let the cable out. Hello, if you are shooting video, you can change the shutter speed, the ISO and the aperture manually. There are two things to consider: first that there is no external microphone socket, so if you want to use a microphone to collect your sound, you would have to use an external recorder. Secondly, this is an APS-C camera, which means that the effective focal length of your lenses is 1.6x the actual focal length. This is good if you are looking to to extend your reach, but if you want to have wide angle, fast lenses (for a shallow depth of field), you might be better to look at a full frame DSLR camera. I hope this helps..

How to take photos while recording a video canon 4000d PLEASE??
You cannot take pictures and shoot video at the same time. You could take a still from the video, but that would be in your editing software.
Useful explain sir
Thank you
Very useful
thanks
Hey can you plssss tell me how to change the movie format in the canon EOS rebel t100 please
Hello, the camera only shoots MOV files. You will need to change format in your editing software.
@@NikonD5200Channel thank you but when I try to import my video from camera connect it Says movie format not supported
@@j_457 You can't transfer on the wifi. the best way is to transfer via the memory card.
Hi I would love to know what app should I use from my iphone 6 to act as a monitor since the camera has no flip screen?
this is the App you need www.canon.co.uk/apps/canon-camera-connect/
@@NikonD5200Channel Hi I did download that app but unfortunately it doesn't allow connecting via Movie function which is the only function on the camera to shoot videos with but only allows or connects via shooting (picture mood)
have you tried Canon Utility? it is a different App and allows you to shoot videos..www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/software/eos-utility.html
@@NikonD5200Channel Hi Sir I'm using an iphone 6 and on my app store can't find that Canon Utility app only EOS remote app which doesn't support videos too...only shooting pictures. it operates just like the canon camera connect app.
Also I went through the link you sent unfortunately their lines are busy and unavailable for enquiries so I left an email based on my enquiry. thanks
I have the issue of the cam stopping when I'm shooting video... It just stops recording after a few minutes
hi, there are limits to how much the camera can record in one take - 4mb in size or 29 minutes in length. However if you are recording at full HD, you hit 4MB fairly quickly, after about 11 minutes.
hi, i would like to ask how to adjust volume when making video? there's no sound whenever i play video using 4000d..
i hope u can answer my question..
thank u😊
When you are in video mode, go to menu 2 and look at sound recording. start of with it on auto, and check that the sound levels move when you talk. try that and let me know how you get on
@@NikonD5200Channel yes, it was moving..but why i can't hear the sound when i playback the video?..😊
@@charmaineimperial2300 Are you talking about playback in the camera? there isn't a speaker in the camera, so you won't hear anything until you play it on a computer.
@@NikonD5200Channel ohhh..i see...
yes, i'm talking about playback...:(
anyway, thank you so much for your help..really appreciate it..
more power to your vlog😊
Heyy, I can't Recording on my 4000D because When I try to film, on the screen writes "movie recording has been stopped automatically" can you help me with that?
Im so sorry for mistakes🙏
there is a time limit to recording. depending on the frame rate and size, it might be 20 minutes or 30 minutes. There is also a file size limit. so could you please tell me when the video stops working?
You must get yourself a memory card that will support that video I use a sandisk which runs at 170 mb/s this means it can support the video being put onto the card, is if you can get a memory card that can support 170mb/s is will work
Hope this helped :)
Cant transfer videos to my phone, it says format unsupported Any ideas
You can only transfer pictures via the WiFi, not videos, I am afraid. It is quicker to transfer via the memory card for videos.
God bless you sir
Hey guys so i need help i recorded but i cant hear the audio of my video can you give me help please
Hello, the camera does not have a speaker, so you cannot here the audio when you play back on the camera. It will be there when you play back on a computer..
@@NikonD5200Channel Thankyou so much I really appreciate it:)
I recorded with canon eos 4000d but it doesn't record sound, why's that?
Hi, It does record sound, but it doesn't have a speaker in the camera, so you will need to play the video back on a computer.
@@NikonD5200Channel I tried it on computer but no, but I threw it In premiere pro and it worked, audio is awesome
You sound like the guy from studiobinder 👀👀👀
I can’t hear what I’ve recorded
there is n speaker in this camera, but it does record sound. You just need to play it on a computer or device with a speaker.
👍🥰
Very educational and easy to understand. But your style of speaking puts me to sleep! I'm not kidding! I was yawning all the time!!!
You sound just like Michael Cain.
Please help me I got this camera to upload makeup tutorials for my channel and as of now the camera is completely useless to me because I can’t get the videos onto my iPhone to edit them like I usually do 😭🙏🏼
Hello, There are two ways you can transfer videos form the camera, either via the memory card, or using the mini hdmi cable which goes in to a USB socket. This means that to transfer videos to your phone, you will need a cable that either has an SD card reader at one end and a plug that fits into your phone, or a cable that will connect your camera cable to your phone. You should be able to get them on the internet and not too expensive. Have patience, you will be able to shoot some great videos for your tutorials..
@@NikonD5200Channel thank you so much my friend I really appreciate your response and your videos are lifesaving!
**For those also struggling(I found a lot with the same issue on this model)
➡️Use the SD card like the creator said.. put it into a computer. Download a video converter app (found free ones on App Store) one that is compatible with your tablet/computer ect. Open your video on the SD card, transfer to gallery, upload it to the converter app, change from MOV to MP4, then save to your Google drive. You can then open the video on your iPhone and upload it to your editing app of choice or have for personal use.
Hope this also helps.. CameraWize let me know if I can do anything different I know your a lot more of an expert than I am.. this took me 4 days to figure out 🤦🏻♀️.
Make sure to subscribe to this guy before you leave you guys..he has a lot of incredibly useful info you can use!!

@@NikonD5200Channel thanks 🙏🏼 and thank you again for responding because now I know an easier way to fix this.. I just have to do it this way until I can order and receive that usb cord adapter that you told me about! At least there are two solutions now and hopefilly we can help others who are having the same issue too 🙂🙌🏼

My canon 4000D has no Sound pls help
Hello, could you give me more information? when you are in the video mode and go to menu 2 to look at sound recording, is the top option (sound rec) either on auto or manual? Do the sound levels (the dotted line across the bottom of the screen) move when you talk?
