@@PurposeBuiltMoto just a little trolling definitely a cool build I couldn’t resist. There’s just not a cooler bike that exists than a regular drz that’s all! Good work fr!
Purpose Built Moto well said. Looking forward to seeing the front fender setup kit, that thing is beautiful! By the way, what the hell is that air cleaner?!? It looks like it ate Big Bird! 😁
This bike is really inhabiting my dreams! Here I am, 5 months later, watching the video again! A question, what machine did the radiator come from? You mentioned an ATV radiator, you wouldn't happen to know which one, do you? Thanks!
i WANT it. ive rode nothing but dirt bikes my whole life and all the street bikes i see just seem so clunky and heavy. I like a light weight low profile bike like this. Also being a 400 4 stroke that thing is gonna have some POWER! with a broad power band too!
Very nice, I really like what you have done with the DR. I had stopped putting my WR450 2007 project bike back together a few months ago as I was considering if I could convert it into a street tracker and because I had already done a WR450 project full refurbish previously. I wasn't sure how to tackle the subframe, but now you have inspired me to re look at it. Did youhave
@@PurposeBuiltMoto The last part of my comments didn't load (dodgy internet I guess) I was asking how you lowered the bike over all. Ddi you say you used front and rear 19"wheels? and pushing the forks along way through the triple clamps + building up the mount for handle bar clearance? And to stiffen the suspension I assume stiffer springs and adjustments?
Yeah mate there’s a bit in it to lower the suspension but can be done by a good guy that knows his way around it. Hit the link in the video description and read the blog it has a bunch of finer details for you
When you’re doing a custom wheel swap, find a local wheel builder and they will make the spokes to suit your application. You can’t just buy them in a kit
Looks great! Had planned something like this some years ago... But went and bought a Bonneville. Wish that I'd stuck with it. Is it simple to recal the stock speedo for the new wheels?
Yeah it’s a fun bike for sure. If we did this build end to end I would have done a custom speedo and calibrated pickup. We didn’t mess with this speedo so it’s out, from what I tested about 10kms at 90km/h The rider told us not to worry about it
I wish I knew how to squat the bike lower to the ground... I am not sure do you get a different front fork from like an r6 and a shorter spring for the rear. I just want that hypermotard look with slicks just naked and mean.
I’m looking to this to my DRZ over the winter. I feel like the biggest challenge will be finding the right tank, would you guys be able to point me in the direction of one that will fit? Trying to avoid too much heavy fabrication for my first custom build.
Suzuki should had made this bike. They came out with the TU250 and that's an awesome bike however, it was always a bit under powered. You had created a nice street bike with the 400 engine that should had been available a long time ago. I'd say your gearing is a bit on the low side probably a 15/16 front with a 39 on the back? Sure looks good.
This is like rubbing salt to my not yet healed wounds. I had a suzuki drz 400 that got stolen and crashed. Was about to build it to a scrambler... and after that i got a honda fmx that was about to become a scrambler/brat style. And fuck me that got stolen too. Never found probably taken to Russia or Estonia and sold in parts

Man that thing was way cooler when it was just a normal drz!!! Drz for life!!!
Thanks man! ⚡️

Reminds me of days riding through Mount Glorious
Wow, that's AWESOME!!! Just the kind of bike I need in my life!
After the test ride I think everyone needs a bike like this in their life
Purpose Built Moto well said. Looking forward to seeing the front fender setup kit, that thing is beautiful! By the way, what the hell is that air cleaner?!? It looks like it ate Big Bird! 😁
As usual nice work mate.. kinda wish I stuck with my drz tracker.. can't wait to see what you smash out next..
Cheers Shane, did you build a tracker yourself? This one was so much fun
@@PurposeBuiltMoto gave it a shot but stopped short of the custom subframe, those 400s go hard..
Yeah enough go for any sort of riding you want to do, in a light weight frame you can’t go wrong
Sick bike! Id love a custom build like it.
This one is a real all rounder that everyone could enjoy

I don’t have the details on the radiator sorry.
@@PurposeBuiltMoto no worries, man! I’ll figure something out when the time comes. Lots of good options out there.
Oh yeah light and right. Sweet!
I'm not a Cafe racer guy but I love this build. I'd love to see a sumo/bobber mix.
Thanks mate!
Nice built. Would be more great if you have a friend to record of you riding it. I want to see the bike full body on the roads
Friends don't let friends ride seize-ook-ies
Bad ass build though🤠
Hello brother. Very good project. This is Very beautiful. Hugs from Brasil
Thanks Mate!
This looks insanely cool! Great job!

Looks like tremendous fun!
Any idea what the seat height ended up at?
Ah we never measured that mate so I couldn’t say.

What did you use for spokes? I'm looking at doing the same thing and trying to decided on stock rim sizes, or go 19" like this build
When you’re doing a custom wheel swap, find a local wheel builder and they will make the spokes to suit your application. You can’t just buy them in a kit
@@PurposeBuiltMoto I was afraid of that. Unfortunately I do not have a local option. Thanks for the response 👍
Neither do we really, but you give the closest guy a call, send them your wheels and they ship them back with the new spokes and rims

Graham Moore graham, I don't have a DRZ (yet!), but I've read that the speedo can be recalibrated fairly easily.
Looks fun. The dash/speedo is a low point though.
Fantastic build - I couldnt spot the battery in the video, where did you end up squeezing that in on such a minimal build?
Thanks mate, the battery is hidden under the seat
Love this! well done guys
Thanks mate, do you have a DRZ?
@@PurposeBuiltMoto I had 701, but I`m planning to get old DRZ for this kind of project.
@@cudarsjanis They're a fun bike for sure.
Nice work. Now drop a tooth on the countershaft sprocket and let’s see some wheelies!
awesome bike. im working on doing a similar build what size are the tires?
These are 19" front and rear. 130 wide standard flat track tyres
I wish I knew how to squat the bike lower to the ground... I am not sure do you get a different front fork from like an r6 and a shorter spring for the rear. I just want that hypermotard look with slicks just naked and mean.
There's plenty of options available to lower your bike, especially with dirt bike suspension. just have a search around
I’m looking to this to my DRZ over the winter. I feel like the biggest challenge will be finding the right tank, would you guys be able to point me in the direction of one that will fit? Trying to avoid too much heavy fabrication for my first custom build.
The DRZ has a slim back bone so just about any tank will fit.
No matter what you’re going to have to make brackets and mounts for it though

I think you meant to say the gearing was a little on the fun side 🙌🏼😅 thanks all he same
Whats the price would be if it was for sale ....
Now all it needs is the stroker, big bore and wide ratio gearbox so it’s got 50+hp and sits on 120 at 5100rpm
That sounds like a mighty stage 2
Congratulations, beautiful bike! May I ask you the specs of those 19" Excel wheels? Are those 19"x2.15" on the rear?
Yeah mate that’s right.
That size it’s typical flat track set up
@@PurposeBuiltMoto thanks for the info!
Can you just fit that into the standard swingarm?
@@mtphelmond Yeah you can, The swing arm is no problem, the front end is really tight though.
Nice! What muffler is that?
That’s the Purpose Built Moto torpedo muffler. Check out our website for more details 🤙🏽
Inspiring
What is the width of the Excel 19" rims? are they 3" front and rear?
From memory they're only 19 x 2.5", maybe check the build blog out I may have written it in there. link in the description.
What about a hypermotard???
Very Neat...
yeah nice job, so exactly what tank was used ?.
breadring it was a tank I had laying around the shop. I’m not sure what it’s off
Would love to see this done with a WR450 !
Oooh, me too!
This Bikes awesome! What's the radiator come from ?
No idea sorry made, the owner did that mod.
Pros and cons about using street tracker conversion kit?
We didn’t use a kit so I have no idea about it
Nice 👍👍
What air filter is this! It's awesome and I want one
It's an aftermarket Unifilter I think for the DRZ400, you can get it from MXstore.com.au
You are awesome, thanks so much

suzuki still the best,, 😀😀👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Is that the s model or the e model? Cheers guys
No Idea mate, we didnt strip the bike down that was done in a customers garage.

whats the weight?
I dont think we ever weighed this one.
Please, I need to know what tank that is!
I Nust had it laying around the shop, I dont know what its from sorry.
Ok that’s fine. How about making a couple of those exhausts and selling me one!? Please!
