It's also incorrect. Flour sack and feed sack material is what was most commonly used for homemade garments for girls. (Potato sacks got used too.) Feed and flour mills actually started producing packaging with cute patterns, because they knew that mothers were using them to make clothes. Parents would actually try to buy multiple bags of flour (or feed) with the same pattern just to get enough material for one dress. Girls: Shirley Temple
Boys: Potato time
This joke overuse
It's also incorrect. Flour sack and feed sack material is what was most commonly used for homemade garments for girls. (Potato sacks got used too.) Feed and flour mills actually started producing packaging with cute patterns, because they knew that mothers were using them to make clothes. Parents would actually try to buy multiple bags of flour (or feed) with the same pattern just to get enough material for one dress. Times were hard for everyone, and I assure you and everyone else commenting on this video's ridiculous usage of Shirley Temple as a fashion icon and a dress made out of a sheer fabric that would've been outrageously expensive, that boys were not the only ones who got clothing made out of something unconventional. Everyone did.
@@KazukiriMishamiota
Excatly. Im sure poor girls tried to recreate Shirleys looks. But I think it would be more likely for them to try to recreate her curls. But normal and poor people will always try to recreate styles. They just are made more cheaply.
Well that's not the case some families were rich and I could do that kind of stuff or richer but some families couldn't in this video they were showing the Richer families

Very true. They talked about the 60s school dress code while showing a girl that would have been breaking the dress code with a skirt that was too short!

those solver shoes in the '10s and '20s drove me crazy!

All the girls were wearing blue before that one LOL
@@idonated50jellybeanstothew56 lol
@@idonated50jellybeanstothew56 That part confused me because blue was never socially unacceptable to be worn by women.
That's because the text is actually wrong. The costumes are right. Pink started out as the masculine colour, because it was closer to red - which was seen as aggressive and masculine. Meanwhile blue was associated with the Virgin Mary.
It wasn't until much much later that the colours ended up swapping places.
Yup
I love that I see all the different types of styles of clothes for little girls they were adorable 👍❤️

It’s an example of the clothing.
Because that look was popular for only a short period in the 90s, it's VERY 1995! :)
@@CassidyStarke it should be historically accurate. If they have money to buy all this they can buy replicas or athenic clothing. You can get them online and at vintage stores. They obviously don't sell them at day to day retailer's.

It is so adorable to see little girls just having fun dancing around and modeling :)
This literally just looks like a Gap advertisement...
Side note: the boys didn’t wear actual potato sacks, they wore clothes made out of potato sacks not full potato sacks.(I think)
I don't think that's any better.
Yea and a lot of girls in poorer families wore dresses sewn out of potato sacks as well
In my days we wore potato sacks over our heads to cover our bumz
it wasn't just boys either. poorer families had been wearing clothes made out of potato sacks for quite a while because it was essentially free fabric. and the potato companies knew what they were doing. they knew whoever had the nicest fabric and prints would get the most sales of their potatoes. there was even instruction ON the bags informing the women how to remove the adhesive and what not so they could proceed to make clothing out of it lol
They also used flour, chicken feed, and other material.
Is no one gonna talk about how cute the girls are?
