This girl is the girl teachers use in comparisons like " oh you 'didnt have time' ? She does ballet 5-6 hours a day and she gets all her homework done. Don't make excuses!"
In the beginning, I felt kind of jealous of her life: living in the city & can afford ballet(seems like she goes to a good school, has a good education and classes) but honestly I feel so lucky towards the end bc the poor girl lives such a busy life. Your absolutely right. I used to to go to her ballet school and I honestly had no idea who she was. Like I took class with her all the time and passed her in the hallways but I didn’t realize she was this huge of a celebrity but that’s besides the point. I was emotionally abused there. Don’t get me wrong it’s an AMAZING school. Super rigorous and really great training. She most likely was not, but, it’s is still so stressful. As a dancer you have to give up so much. That’s why I quit along with all the trauma I had. I now feel so free, I’m doing violin again, I’ve done silks classes, baking classes, art classes, have time to focus on school, etc. Now that’s how a normal non celebrity person like me feels. Her schedule is way beyond what mine ever was. She has to love it to do that. I, didn’t love it that much. The joy I had when I was younger is no longer with me. That’s the only way you can do it, you truly have to love it. Although I really don’t know how she can do it, she doesn’t even live in NYC.
@@rizz8362 I think this is so old that she does live in NYC now! I didn't realize how old it is. Could be Rye Brook but that's closer to a half hour, not the time she said in the video.

Getting 6 hours of sleep a night is so unhealthy and dangerous especially for a teenager. Of course its not her fault that her classes start early and that she needs to rehearse, society should change. Health should be the main priority.

I got to me this talented woman recently at Jacob’s Pillow! What you see in this video is exactly what she is like in real life. She is hardworking, kind, humble, and hilarious! Kayla if you see this, I wanted you to know how incredible and inspiring you are!!🥰❤️
She is so dedicated and disciplined. I love that. At the same time, I would never allow my child to sleep 6 hours or less everyday. We have to stop pretending that sleep isn’t important to proper development and mental health.
Brittany Kelly 6 hours is actually really good for a junior in high school. No matter if you dance or have other extracurriculars, it’s impossible to get more than that. It’s the sad reality of taking hard classes
Jordan Hersh Scientific research says you are incorrect. 6 hours of sleep is not really good for a 16-17 years old child. I was once a high school student who ranked 2nd in my class, took AP courses, and was captain/president of several organizations (and I ran track). I still prioritized getting 8 hours of sleep. It’s only a sad reality to those who allow it.

this is literally why teachers shouldn’t give a lot of homework-kids have lives too... ik she’s special cuz she has so much but some kids can’t do their sport bc of hw and that just sucks edit: i accidentally edited this lol
yeah, plus homework doesn't have much of a benefit because the kids would do much better if they had 1 on 1 help with the teacher. And it just leaves kids with no time to socialize or excersise
And even if you don’t do a sport, you might have 8 siblings who don’t either do a sport. You can’t focus on homework when your entire family is making noises! And when there is no teacher around, and your parents/siblings can’t help you with the homework either, how are you supposed to learn?
every day I regret the fact that my parents didn't force me into some kind of sport. i took up figure skating a lot later than everyone else and have to train twice as hard
11:50 are we gonna say anything to that editor? Edit: idk if some people didn’t understand this but I just meant it’s amazing and it matched up so well
Just watching dancers do this daily for their life is making me nervous cuz this year im starting to become a competitive dancer and its super busy apparently😬😂
If you love something, you don’t need discipline as you are driven towards what you desire and that produces a completely different internal/hormonal environment in the body as somethinng done out of restriction and a sense of “have to” would that’s mostly adrenalin fuelled which is taxing for the body. Because she loves doing it, it isn’t “dangerous” for her.
@@drsalka tbh it has happened to me. I absolutely love art, I've been an artist for a few years now and recently during finals, I put too much pressure in myself. I had several commissions, Collabs and forced myself to post regularly. I also didn't go easy on my exam prep and didn't sleep a lot. It took a toll and after finals, I did have a complete break down and could do nothing for a week.
@@drsalka I respectfully disagree. While loving what you do is fuel to get through insane challenges, no amount of attachment or obsession with an activity can substitute for discipline, nor can it make you immune to getting hurt. People can put themselves in enormous danger for the sake of things they love. I am not condemning Kayla; I am merely pointing out that all the stress, both physical and mental, that she is putting on herself may (and at some point likely will) catch up with her if it hasn't already. This is not to say she should quit what she is doing, but I think it is wise to be aware of the risks of such a full life. As a psychology student, Kayla probably already knows these risks.
As a dancer, people don’t understand just how difficult dance can be. Because of tik tok, everyone believes that dance is simple. This video proves the opposite!!! So impressive
at some point in my life, i was like her - being so active and productive and balancing school and dance life. but now that i stopped, i cant even begin to understand amd imagine how i did it and how she still does this to the present. like seriously.
My schedule used to be like this in high school being a dancer + going to a regular high school. I would always get sick and get very painful migraines from all the stress and lack of sleep. Idk how this girl is surviving lol

@Pluv you do make sense, I do indeed take the train alone after ballet which is around 8pm, having to walk 25 minutes to the train station alone and it is around an hour and a half train ride which I do think is still okay.. I don't take the train at 11pm because that would be WAY too late "considering my age". I truly admire Kayla Mak's bravery and discipline.

She does not live in NYC, that's part of the problem and why her commute is so long. The red seats on the train? That's the train to Connecticut.

It is not your parents fault. They can't push you to do something you don't like. If you are truly passionate about something you would do it yourself
Layla Proffitt exactly!!!! I mean I’m not saying it’s their fault but it’s not like a 10 year wants to train 6 days a week, miss their favorite tv shows, birthday parties, etc but then when you grow up you realize how many opportunities and friendships it could’ve given you :((

Okay, she’s amazing and all, but can we just talk about her barely even getting 6 hours of sleep? She does so much every single day, she’s active all the time. Idk just a thought.
Getting 6 hours of sleep a night is so unhealthy and dangerous especially for a teenager. Of course its not her fault that her classes start early and that she needs to rehearse, society should change. Health should be the main priority.

She is so dedicated and disciplined. I love that. At the same time, I would never allow my child to sleep 6 hours or less everyday. We have to stop pretending that sleep isn’t important to proper development and mental health.
That's what happens when teachers give an hour of homework for each class every night
She’s only 16?’ The discipline is very admirable but in the long run could this schedule take its toll on her?
This is just for the performance week though. I think normally her schedule is not so intense
I had it similar. And it took a toll. But it depends on the person and on what they do as next steps in their life.

I can agree
Tik tok is cancer anyways
you did well today
Abigail B the dances aren’t too hard: mostly arm movements. that makes ppl think that dance is easy, when it rlly isnt
at some point in my life, i was like her - being so active and productive and balancing school and dance life. but now that i stopped, i cant even begin to understand amd imagine how i did it and how she still does this to the present. like seriously.
Her smile is so bright it literally makes me look like an idiot for smiling so much my jaw hurts too agh-
Army!!💜💜
HelloItsKassie 💜💜💜
Can y'all please stop screeching army and try to hold a normal conversation
Also yeah I love her smile
gross
My schedule used to be like this in high school being a dancer + going to a
regular high school. I would always get sick and get very painful migraines from all the stress
and lack of sleep. Idk how this girl is surviving lol
Cassii Rose same!! I also was always in pain...ended up being diagnosed years later with an autoimmune disease which affects my joints
@@samantharosenfield7322 which one did you get? I have an autoimmune disease too 😞
Imagine having parents who trust you to go out at night as a 16 year old ✌🏻😔
May Yannie mine probably wouldn’t let me at 20
Kids who grow up in big cities supposedly tend to be more independent
Yeah true lol 😂
I’m 12 and I can go to the mall w friends
Bimyself and can go anywhere
I’m a ballet dancer too and I under stand. Exactly how she feels it’s really hard and. Disciplined, and I take 7 classes a week and it’s hard, and I’m only 13 but I loveeeee it more then anything!!
Danggg that’s a lot…. I do ballet too but I’m only in inter, and I’m the same age as you
@@ラベンダー-k2g me too im about the same age and i take just as many classes
She rides the train and subway alone so late at night?!?! As a mom, that would scare the heck out of me!
I was just thinking how terrified my mom would be of me being out alone at night
I ride the train with my friends to ballet and I'm 11 and my mom is okay with that lol. she just texts me to make sure I'm all good😅
I'm not even allowed to go out after 6pm
@Pluv you do make sense, I do indeed take the train alone after ballet which is around 8pm, having to walk 25 minutes to the train station alone and it is around an hour and a half train ride which I do think is still okay.. I don't take the train at 11pm because that would be WAY too late "considering my age". I truly admire Kayla Mak's bravery and discipline.
It’s called trust. If you raise your child to be smart and alert they generally won’t have many issues
When she mentioned tiger balm, I was like “dang that’s the good stuff yo”
Tanie Lor that’s the good kush
Agree
TB actually doesn’t heat the muscle just the feeling that it does.
Heck yeah I keep that around all the time
Me gets 11-10 hours of sleep: *Gets eye bags and pimples*
Her gets 6-5 hours of sleep: *Stays bootiful and doesn't get any eye bags not even a pimple-*
jynette barro Facts. People like us are just unlucky
Bro I get probably get at least 8-9 hours of sleep and my acne has gotten so bad during quarantine and I’m really active and play tennis and volleyball 😭😭😭
Its most likely diet. She clearly eats healthily, and i assume she doesnt eat that much sugar or saturated fast
@Galactic Vegan i agree. as a ballet dancer and runner AND a teenager, i have very little acne. i do often eat sweets and all that but as long as i exercise and stick to my skin care routine and just try to stay healthy, it doesn't affect me too much. i was also pretty surprised by her schedule. im lucky because my dance studio is about 20 mins away so i don't have such a difficult schedule.
it's probs bc of eating habits , what goes inside comes right out / sugary, oily foods cause acne :) /
I'm seriously worried about the fact that she only gets 6 hours of sleep every night. That's not a healthy way to live, especially as a teenager.
If her body can adjust it as she is a dancer I m sure she get regular check ups
When I was in high school (2013-2017) I went to bed around 12:30am and had to get up at 5:45am every day. This was the norm for everyone I knew.
