    I just came across your channel, as an instructor, it's not often I come across another instructor that impresses me.....its awesome to see some innovation and not the same thing being regurgitated over and over again. To many instructors get stuck on certain ways for certain reasons, usually because that's how they were trained. They get stuck on either using the side release or racking the slide. A lot of them always use the "fine motor skills under stress" argument, to teach the slide rack and most don't suggest training slide release more to make it a reflex. I really liked how you demonstrated both, but with a more efficient way to rack the slide. I also advise my rifle students running a white light the same way, for the same reason you do. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that. From the clips I saw, you seem to be a great instructor. Keep up the awesome content!

    I always had the “issue” of not being able to completely reach the mag release and I used the technique where you sort of twist the gun into your shooting hand thumb and it’s always worked wonders for me but I always had to take the extra millisecond to re adjust my grip afterwards.
    I’ve been doing this for almost a decade.
    When I saw you drop the mag with the non shooting hand I literally face palmed myself. After all this time I’m just now realizing I’m still an idiot because how the fuck did I not think of that.
    Ima go stand in the corner now.
    Good shit, Rick.

      Most those dudes were cops, and not regular cops more like SWAT and other teams. Maybe CA SOT manufacture here n there. Thats the only way they have cans on their rifles. Technically there is no other way to have that stuff. Shit technically I don't even know how someone from out of state gets their hands on ammo legally because you're not supposed to import it and you wouldn't pass the CA ammo background check soooooooooooo let me just say less.

    It would be great if more gun owners from around the country would see this video. Sure it's a small group of individuals, in one small area of California, but there's a lot of gun owners in the whole state of California. Just imagine how many others are just like them.

    The newer long throw candela rifle lights realy don't shadow much , if there is one is doesn't show up on video. The biggest problem anywhere near a wall is back splash of light , refracting light back on to the shooter or worse washing out your sight. You have to be very careful around walls .

    What's the reason for covering or taping the optic...

    • @achillesheeltactical
      @achillesheeltactical  Год назад +4

      Yes. By covering the objective lens, it assists in being target focused and not distracted by the dot. When you are shooting a red dot you are now on a single focal plane of view and focus. You should lock your vision to something small so that you can return it to a homebase on the target.

    Exceptional content...however! I've been trying to master pull with pinky push with thumb but the science of it doesn't seem to make sense to me. Plus Rick seems to have this kink in his right arm that looks like it absolutely helps to mitigate recoil..yet I don't understand it either!
    My girlfriend is starting to get worried because she keeps walking in on me squaring my hips and pushing with thumb and pulling with pinky!

      Another bad ass video brother. Hate I missed getting to meet you out here in Oklahoma. Hopefully soon I will be in your class. Dr said one more month rehab on the leg. Love hearing you go over the slide release and manipulating it with your thumb. I had a LE firearms instructor insist you have to go over the top because of fine motor skills in high stress situations. I disagreed I told him I felt as I train many rounds doing it I was faster and able to keep eyes on the threat better with it. And my trigger finger is also a fine motor skill and shooting enough correct rounds down range that motor skill had significantly got better as I was able to go from gear 1 to some drills my gear 6 by training.

    Obviously your students (most of them) were LEO. Kinda cool they just let you come to cali with your NFA items and DOJ didn't show up.
