My Dad is still alive but we're not close. I always think I longed for a Son and got one problematic daughter instead. Nevertheless my childhood was filled with trips to air museums and the best air shows in the world. We are both huge aviation geeks and I will always remember watching Top Gun with him and thinking "this is my dream". I luckily got to have an experience inside a Hawk at an RAF base near me, pulling some light acrobatics and it was the most amazing day of my life, a feeling like nothing else in the world. I'm so sorry for your loss, I hope can continue to honour is passions yourself and keeping him in your heart. He's flying high for sure.

As a current Naval Reserve Officer who is "just a Captain" and with 2,000 hours in the Hornet from my active duty glory days, I can say watching the original Top Gun in the 80s was what set me on my Naval career path. I am very much looking forward to Top Gun 2. Now don't mistake that enthusiasm for a statement that everything in Top Gun (or Top Gun 2) is accurate as far as Naval Aviation is concerned, but it is a movie that celebrates the spirit of Naval Aviation. How can you not love it?
My guess is that all the flack they caught from the first film from a "military/aviation technical" standpoint, they probably hired even more advisers this go round to make sure it's better. Just a guess though, but I can say how the hell is it 33 years later and he hasn't been forced out of service yet at O-6? Maybe reservist rules are different?
1989-1993 I was an AO in VF-51, Commander (Rat) Willard was my CO for the first 2 years. He was the head flight coordinator for the first film. He had a slide show that documented the making of the movie from his point of view. He had some great stories, the one that stood out for me was how he described how enthusiastic Tom Cruise was to get to fly. He said the other actors were not so thrilled to ride in the back seat. They didn't like getting sick.
By paying attention to how the CCP conquers the entire world without shooting a single bullet, including vetoing what gets displayed and what doesn't in this movie. Victory is achieved when the "enemy" is demoralized, well, they skipped the fighting and went straight into demoralizing mode.
I saw the movie yesterday and cannot stop thinking about it. Tom Cruise is the last real movie star who can still put people in the seats. I am so happy this movie broke the box office record for a Memorial Day weekend opening. He deserves it. Tom Cruise may just be responsible for saving the movie industry all together. I like streaming at home, but nothing beats seeing a great movie in the theater. Since I am over 60, and the original Top Gun came out in the 1980’s when I was young, this movie really took me back. I saw some great previews for other films and plan to get into the theater a lot this summer, including seeing Top Gun Maverick a second time. Bravo Tom Cruise!
Just went to see it at the theater with a friend. Best thing I did after Covid restrictions had been stopped. Tom Cruise is always the ONE. This sequel is so good and exciting. It brought back so many memories from the 80’s when going to the movies was the highlight of our weekends.
Born in 76 as well, so I'm with you 100% lol! My absolute most favorite movie of all time is Top Gun! Can't wait for this to FINALLY come out already lol!!
This is not just a film. It’s a journey through your emotions to humble yourself and value your relationships. It touches every corner of your heart and it brings out our vulnerability. Nothing less that a masterpiece.
I had just joined the Navy and completed boot camp when the original Top Gun came out. I remember I was SO pumped on the Navy, and just life in general when I walked out of that theater. Seemed I couldn't stop pumping my fist and yelling "YEAH!!" at the top of my lungs every few minutes! lol An incredible feeling back then and looking at this trailer brings it all back complete with chills and goose bumps all over. Tom Cruise has always been a stud of a man's man and he is still going strong! Can't wait to see this movie. RIP Goose.
@@1979Spica It's definitely coming. They did too much stunt work and put too much money into it for it to not happen. Plus cruise won't let that happen
This motion picture is a anniversary of our marriage! 34 years ago we got married and went to see Top Gun! So this movie as far as we are concerned is an Anniversary Gift to us. Also on a second note I finally decided to get my pilot's license at the ripe old age of 72, inspired many years ago and finally living the DREAM!
You staying married is 1000 times harder than any pilot license or being naval aviator. Congrats in achieving almost superhuman feat of resilience (and your wife, what a woman!)
No way I will ever watch anything with Tom Cruise because of his position on post partum depression/ psychosis and psychiatry in general. He can have these views and I don’t care, but going on national TV and saying the things you said is inexcusable. Please never watch Tom Cruise again.
@@jasonw5177 He was on the Today Show many years ago and said that new mothers didn’t have post partum depression or psychosis that is was just a failing of the mother to be strong enough, etc. He then said if you were “sick” you shouldn’t take medication or seek the help of psychiatric profession. Then he went over on the mental health profession as a whole. The video is old, but it is still around online. I don’t care what his beliefs are, but telling new mothers they are weak and just not trying hard enough and don’t take the medication just be a stronger person and it set back treatment for many woman. That is where my problem lies.
I absolutely cannot wait for this movie. Top Gun was absolutely thrilling and amazing. My dad flew the Drummon Helcat in WWII. I actually have his flight logs from then. I had no idea. My brother told me that my dad would have kept going if he had known the types of aircraft that was coming. But I think it was too much for my mom. Seeing his stuff is nothing short of amazing. Thank you to everyone who serves this country.
That's fantastic! I know I would be extremely proud and I'm sure you are. I'm in Lincoln UK and near RAF Waddington and Scampton...very proud of our aircrew who flew during WWII from our bases.
Takes me back to Top Gun 1 and my time in the RAF. I was young, fit and having a great time. I am now nearly 63 and still remember the 80's like it was yesterday. To all my old mates hope you are all keeping well.
I really respect Tom Cruise, he keeps that old school Hollywood feeling alive. Locations, real stunts, and I feel like he pushes everyone to be their best.
As an aviation engineer all my life, I have just seen the original 86 version documentary of the making of top gun. It is very illuminating to anyone who is interested in aviation. That documentary told of all the shortcomings they faced, things the producers script wanted that were not physically possible to do in a real aircraft, even one as special as the F14. I am eagerly awaiting this new release. It just makes you feel proud to be an american.........and I am Australian!
I was in the Navy Delayed Entry Program in Oct of 1985, just before this movie came out, and was in Boot Camp in Orlando, FL exactly 2 months after watching it. I retired 20 years and 2 weeks later on July 31st of 2006 and then went on to an 11-year hitch with CA Department of Corrections and retired from that job on Dec 31st of 2017. I do believe that 36 years is the longest I have ever waited for a movie sequel.
I saw this movie at the cinema and it was pure emotion, truly cinematic gold. I’m quite convinced that it’s destined to become a legend. Finally, when I get old I will be able to tell my children "this movie in my golden age was epic"
This could be one of the last "real" made, excellent scripted movies with real people in it instead of voice over animations of our time. It tied back to the original so well. I'm going to go see it again.
it seems almost impossible that in our times such a good movie could come out… Usually sequels are always worse but this was practically at the same level as the original in terms of involvement, only Tom Cruise could allow all this
The cinematic footage of the aircraft was great, but the movie itself absolutely sucked. Crap soundtrack, fair acting, ridiculously stupid script and story. Getting caught up in the hype is a peer group acceptance thing right? Stuff that, tell it the way it is.
I’m pretty impressed with Tom. His dedication to making the best movie as authentic as possible goes far beyond most actors. He is very fit so when I see him begin to cave in to the effects of G force in the plane, it makes me wonder how superbly fit and trained the real military pilot must be. G force is G force.
My dad, who turns 50 this year, can quote the original movie word for word. Still one of the coolest movies I've ever watched. That brake maneuver mav does to get behind the mig? Blew my mind when I was a kid 😅 My dad loves the movie so much I have a half brother named Maverick. He got the name because he was turned the wrong way in the womb for a short bit. "Because I was inverted"
Being born in 1986, I consider it a privilege watching Top Gun as a child - when it was larger than life. The movie did age very well, but I’m still sorry for younger generations never being able to grasp the movie’s dimensions back in the day!
I saw the movie and it is one of the best movies I have seen in years! Worth every penny! It made a grown man cry. A great gift I gave myself today! You got me for that dvd/blu-ray!
I'm 71 and I am so psyched about this sequel. I went to see this is the biggest screen and they loudest sound!!! Not a Tom Cruise fan but love Top Gun.
This Movie was a 10/10 for me. I saw the original when I was just a wee lad with my Grandfather in 1986 who was a WW2 Veteran and a tail gunner. One of my memories of him.
They sant yo leer a true Top Tun Pilot, Watch the video of Attack on the English fleet with a training aircraft, AERMACCHI MB 339, very Little armament and fuel yo return.
Regardless of plot, tone or acting quality, based on how they've shot the flight scenes and the access they've been given this might well be Tom Cruise's masterpiece and is absolutely my most anticipated film this year. If this is good, it will be unforgettable.
This is why Tom Cruise is by far the best action movie actor ever, and it isn't even close. The guy is on a different planet when it comes to what he actually does for his movies. The fact he wants everything to be authentic as possible is why he's the best for me. And why i gladly pay to watch his films. The guy puts his life on the line to entertain us.
@@cavitycreep what the fuck are you talking about? Who mentioned anything about a test pilot? And what about 60 year old test pilots? There's been plenty around that age. Chuck Yeager was in his late 50s when he quit testing aircraft. There's no correlation between age and being able to handle some Gforce.
@@rjadragel not to take anything away from Jackie Chan and the way he does his own dangerous action stunts, but you can't compare it. This man right here literally straps himself to an airplane and then spends an entire year learning how to fly an F18 for real just so he can make the best and most realistic aviation movie ever. That's a level of dedication to entertainment that is unparalleled by anyone including Jackie Chan
Just trying to imagine ... Had there been no dam covid ... I'd have worn my custom TopGun Maverick leather Jac to the cinemas !! Dam you Covid !! dam You !!

Excited to see this !!
After watching Top Gun in high school, a buddy of mine said, "Yeah...that's what I'm gonna do." Sure enough, he became an F-14 pilot, and finished his career with a Star on his collar and was Commander of the fighter pilot school in Corpus Christi, TX.
@@BigRocksWilderness He quit flying about 7 yrs prior to getting his star. He was promoted to being more of an administrator at that time. I heard through the grapevine that he considered getting out at that point, but stuck it out.
For all the bad press Tom gets with his private beliefs , He is a damn good actor and there isnt an actor around of his age and his genre that would have the balls to do all his own stunts. He is and always has been an adrenaline junky. And the fact that the majority of this film will be all legit and not stained with CGI will most definitely be the ultimate cinema experience. Utmost respect for anyone involved with this film. Used to love going to Halloween Parties as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell.
His beliefs don't bother me. They are no more ridiculous than Christianity and a lot less dangerous to humanity. Christianity and Islam are both 'end of the world' cults. Putin is currently talking about God and destiny, just like Hitler did. I've never seen a Scientologist claim the world will end and most humans will perish in flames or threaten people with eternal torture in hell or say they don't have to care about climate change as God is in charge. Christians have slaughtered and enslaved millions in the name of their religion. The Bible of course fully supports slavery. So the bad press Tom gets for his religion is just the same religious bigotry that any non-Christian gets from Christians who claim there is a war on Christianity when what they really mean is that they want to see all non-Christians burning in hell.
@@AnyoneCanSee that's why many pray 📿 and chaplets for the conversion of sinners, beecaause we Christians want to see sinners in hell. This movie if it has nothing else will have the most epic recorded aviation footage of all time. No contest . Footage like this will never happen again. MAGNIFICENT.
I was in navy dive training in 1986 when Top Gun came out! All the sudden it was way cool to be Navy! When I came home for a break all my friends came to see me! Good days!
WOW!!! Everytime I see this trailer, I´m waiting more to see the movie. RESPECT to Tom Cruise (Maverick). With almost 60 yrs of age still going the G-Force 9 is outstanding and impressiv!!! Like the good old times in TOP GUN from the 80´s!!!! Thanks Tom and the Crew (Jerry Bruckheimer and Cast). After 35 years of waiting.... It will come to the end this Year!!!!
Top Gun 1986 was an Epic. I remember watching it when it came out in my second year in the Navy while stationed in San Diego, close to the then USN Fighter Town NAS Miramar. Having just seen Maverick 2022, I can tell you it is Magnificent!
I saw Top Gun as a young man when serving overseas in the military. My son was born on a military base in late 1987 and flies Hornets today. How about that?
my roommate in Geibelstadt Germany Spc Greg Dunn from Hollis Queens had the sickest system in our barracks, he bought a gizmo that worked like an alarm clock, for it and we woke up to the precursor to "highway to the danger zone" at 5AM daily... it still gets the heart pumping almost 35 years later... Rocky Marne My Brotha!!!!
So I am sure you all can tell that most of what we will see is in trainer jets !!! If was 4 real you would not be able to see behind pilot..... but its guna b hell of a ride any who !!!!!!!!! Can't wait
Tom Cruise teaches the world why old school stuff still rules over the new stuff, no CGI, no Drone shit on the movie, no streaming, no desperation and waiting the perfect time to release the movie, in fact this movie and his spectacular and perfect shooting just reminds all people why the 7nd art it's an art that cannot be replaced by the streaming, the experience, the sound effects, the movie itself, is just perfect 10/10, like nothing seen over the past several years in the movies, well done Tom, you deserve at very least one Oscar
My siblings and I are going to go see this together in memory of my Dad! The original was his all time favorite movie! We would all complain that we had to watch it again and again. He must have watched it two to three times a year if not more since the original released on DVD. Then once it started streaming, well it was watched when he felt there was nothing (especially baseball) to watch. Now I wish he was here not only to complain about having to watch it with him again but to be able to take him to the premier. Sad to think he won’t get to enjoy this . But we will be going to see this not only because we want to but in memory of Daddio!!!!
Top gun is such a cult classic. First 2 minutes of the original Top gun a real rush, the music, the cinematography, the the afterburner sounds 👌 I hope there's a danger zone sound track in the new one
I dont think CULT classic applies here my friend. That implies it had a small but loyal popularity that grew over time. Top Gun was one of the biggest and most popular movies ever made. EVERYONE saw and loved it when it was released and led to thousands upon thousands of people joining the Navy because of it. So a classic no doubt, but not in any way a cult classic
@@dperl5640 maybe your perception of cult is different to mine. As it was an 80s film there's still people who revel in the age. I'd call it cult classic today
@@dperl5640 A cult film or cult movie, also commonly referred to as a cult classic, is a film that has acquired a cult following. Cult films are known for their dedicated, passionate fanbase which forms an elaborate subculture, members of which engage in repeated viewings, dialogue-quoting, and audience participation. Inclusive definitions allow for major studio productions, especially box office bombs, while exclusive definitions focus more on obscure, transgressive films shunned by the mainstream. The difficulty in defining the term and subjectivity of what qualifies as a cult film mirror classificatory disputes about art.
I joined the Navy right out of high school (1987). Top Gun was a HUGE part of my decision to do so. In my 50's now. Desert Storm is behind me. I'd do it all over again without hesitation.
I saw the first movie the weekend it came out, and history will repeat itself again. This movie was all the rage amongst my family and friends right after it released. There wasn’t much else like it.

Yeah, especially since Tom has come a long way as an actor since then. I remember back in the 80's I hated his movies because of his cocky acting but after his performances in movies such as the MI and Jack Reacher sequels I've notice he's gotten better by the years.

It’s so dead easy to see why the CRUISE / McQUARIE machine took a home run HIT this year & made $ 1.38 billion at the box office. This actor is Hollywoods most bankable asset since FORVER. I was so, so very skeptical with all the hype & trailers about this sequel & yet I found myself in a place, in a cinematic space - WRAPPED UP in this film that indeed belongs on the big screen. Can’t even remember the last time I cheered for the protagonist, laughed at great one liners, dug my nails into the seat at the suspense and story that took you - the audience for the RIDE of your life & yet there was CRUISE putting us in that CINEMA SEAT once more.
That is awesome! You rock! I admire you. Congrats.
Good for you Jim! All the best with your flying!

As an aviation engineer all my life, I have just seen the original 86 version documentary of the making of top gun. It is very illuminating to anyone who is interested in aviation. Usually sequels are always worse but this was practically at the same level as the original in terms of involvement, only Tom Cruise could allow all this

I’m pretty impressed with Tom. His dedication to making the best movie as authentic as possible goes far beyond most actors.
Dont forget that not only he is so dedicated to his craft, he also does all his daring stunts. That's crazy.
When is it coming out?

OMGOSH!!!!..."TOP GUN 2 MAVERICK?"...I am a natural genuine sucker for aircrafts, motocycles... high speed!!! & I am not a captain neither a rider but oh boy.. .if I like to fly!!!! .... That's freedom! 🍺👍
Thanks that's a wonderful😍 thought thanks for all of your supports✌️✌️ towards my career🌹🌹 and my movies❤️, where are you watching from...?
Can you please just release this movie already I've been waiting. I'll pay triple the asking price
Honestly same, I just hope they don't sell out to a streaming company like HBO Max, this movie deserves to be showed only on the big screen
No kidding, I’d pay $100 just to watch it loo
Same here, fam.
a very looooooong summer eh
This should help AMC stock, I hope.
A masterpiece of a film with an unbelievable soundtrack. But more importantly a tribute and thanks too the brave men and women of our armed forces.
Wrong.
It's a terrible social experiment.
It's already failed.
All right - even I'm gonna see this one! I would like to say I am glad that Cruise made sure Val Kilmer was in this film. Val's had some bad luck and I especially wish him all the best! God Bless him, and Cruise as well!
Uhuhhh I LOVE MAVERICK - You keep taking my breath away
Still an aviation enthusiast after so many years of seeing Top Gun as a child, growing up in an Air Force family, learning I'm actually deathly afraid of heights and not realizing that I could have had a career as a Drone pilot plinking terrorists from half-way across the world. No matter how many times they delay this film, I still wanna have perfectly assigned seating with my wife and family to watch this with me. TC can believe whatever he wants, I don't care, he's an awesome actor who is reviving my childhood dream and I appreciate everything he's doing.
This NEEDS to be a 4th of July film in the US in 2021.
i agree
It was , pushed back again til November now 😒
i legitimately want to watch this movie in theaters with the surround sound blasting in my ears. $AMC #tomcruise #rebootingtopgun franchise
YES!!! None of this streaming BS! This movie DEMANDS a theatre for the proper experience it deserves!!
full dolby sound!!
Tom Cruise wont allow crowds to watch this didnt you hear. Who you voted for and your stance on guns now required in California to purchase movie tickets.....but not to vote🤣🤣
Me too!!!
Too bad theatre volume is always so low. I wish they would blast the sound.
"Blockbuster" is not enough of a word for this film
I first saw Top Gun as a kid when i was like 5 years old. My parents bought it on vhs for me since they knew i was obsessed with fighter jets. I lost interest in jets growing up and going into high school but now that i work in the aerospace industry welding, i’m getting back into aviation and cant wait till this movie comes out!
You in to guys playing volleyball shirtless too?
@@BreckThePanther :~)
Damn, I miss the navy. ....but I'm still glad it's over. Flashbacks galore...especially mustering in the hangar bay on the boat. ..happy for my 20 years of haze grey & underway. Go Navy!!!!..4ever!
Thank you sir for your service.
@@grayman4062 Thank you.
What defence does an aircraft carrier, or any boat for that matter, have against a surface to surface or air to surface missile? Why couldn't Russia just launch a shitload of missiles at the USS Nimitz and just sink the motherfucker? Cheers.
@@ShipReK66 lol come on bro, no need for the fake machismo. US soldiers have too much to lose not to fear death. But I was asking a serious question, what countermeasures do the boats have against missiles? Aircraft carriers are floating fortresses, how can they stop a missile attack? Cheers bud.

This is what you get when you minimize the use of CGI and use real life planes instead. 80's at it's best.
Tom Cruise is like Jackie Chan, he doesn’t like green screens and will film death defying stunts multiple times to get it right
TOP GUN 2!?? ABOUT TIME! 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
I am a 46 year old mother of 2 teenage girls married 20 years.. and i love tom cruise like it was 1986.
Err...Well thank you very much, is this a speed dating approach or a film review?
Ok
Don't you still love Kelly McGillis like it was 1986?
the best decade ever!
and somehow he still looks the same as he did in 1986
I just have to imagine top fighter pilots who already achieved their dream and grew up watching Top Gun getting the proverbial cherry on top when they suit up with Tom Cruise to film a Top Gun Movie. It is like a "One more thing" moment.
I found very interesting video. Please click on the link now.

Seen the first one in the theater, and it’s absolutely amazing to be able to see it again for all of us in our 40’s growing up with Top Gun
Yeah but Mav became a a weird scientologist so the whole thing's a little tainted.
Wish they'd just release the fucker so we can go watch it. Been watching previews for two years now, getting old before it's even released
I was 14 (almost 15) when the original came out in May 1986. I will be 50 in 2 day's. I remember going to the theater and seeing Top Gun when it came out. Looking forward to seeing Top Gun: Maverick when it's finally released.
@@kw5732 totally agree with you. His ego is a bit too big. It comes with fame. I do love top gun for many other things besides Tom Cruise.
