Pete "Maverick" Mitchell mentors a new generation of U.S. Navy fighter pilots.
Plot : After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy's top aviators, Pete Mitchell is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him.

For all in their 40s can remember, it was not just a movie. It was dream of every person who ever imagined flying.

I could not have said it better myself.
where I am, they never accepted anyone with any eyesight problem, I had dreamt to be an air force pilot when i was a teenager..
After failing the eyesight test, I can only resort to building static model and remote control plane and helicopter.
I grew up in Maryland.. And wanted to play hoops at navy, and be a pilot... Shocker...neither came true.

Yes! Raises the hairs on the back of my neck and fills my eyes with a nostalgic tear.
nice play on the pun!
No way I will ever watch anything with Tom Cruise because of his position on post partum depression/ psychosis and psychiatry in general. He can have these views and I don’t care, but going on national TV and saying the things you said is inexcusable. Please never watch Tom Cruise again.
@@timothywilson3785 what did he say that you didnt like exactly
@@jasonw5177 He was on the Today Show many years ago and said that new mothers didn’t have post partum depression or psychosis that is was just a failing of the mother to be strong enough, etc. He then said if you were “sick” you shouldn’t take medication or seek the help of psychiatric profession. Then he went over on the mental health profession as a whole. The video is old, but it is still around online. I don’t care what his beliefs are, but telling new mothers they are weak and just not trying hard enough and don’t take the medication just be a stronger person and it set back treatment for many woman. That is where my problem lies.
This (Top Gun) was my dad's all time top favorite movie, he passed 12-21-12 due to muscular dystrophy 48 years old after fighting it for 5 long years. Thank you for a great tribute to your father Alex! Enjoy the movie when you see it! - MSgt Rob Garcia (Air Force)
What a beautiful tribute post. I can't wait!
Thanks for posting this Alex. Your Dad will not go forgotten.
Your father had good taste. Respect
My Dad is still alive but we're not close. I always think I longed for a Son and got one problematic daughter instead. Nevertheless my childhood was filled with trips to air museums and the best air shows in the world. We are both huge aviation geeks and I will always remember watching Top Gun with him and thinking "this is my dream". I luckily got to have an experience inside a Hawk at an RAF base near me, pulling some light acrobatics and it was the most amazing day of my life, a feeling like nothing else in the world. I'm so sorry for your loss, I hope can continue to honour is passions yourself and keeping him in your heart. He's flying high for sure.

This trailer is far better than 50% of Hollywood stars' career combined.
I always thought Top Gun was Cruise's best ever movie. I was wrong. Top Gun Maverick is his best. I loved his character's aging, maturity (not quite as cocky as the original) and his vulnerability in this one. His concern for his "students" and how he made them a team is epic. Hollywood will probably never give him anything for this movie because it doesn't fit their woke agenda. But in my book this is Oscar worthy. This is just a great, good old fashioned, emotion stirring movie. I could watch this every day.
Damn, I miss the navy. ....but I'm still glad it's over. Flashbacks galore...especially mustering in the hangar bay on the boat. ..happy for my 20 years of haze grey & underway. Go Navy!!!!..4ever!
Thank you sir for your service.
@@grayman4062 Thank you.
What defence does an aircraft carrier, or any boat for that matter, have against a surface to surface or air to surface missile? Why couldn't Russia just launch a shitload of missiles at the USS Nimitz and just sink the motherfucker? Cheers.
@@ShipReK66 lol come on bro, no need for the fake machismo. US soldiers have too much to lose not to fear death. But I was asking a serious question, what countermeasures do the boats have against missiles? Aircraft carriers are floating fortresses, how can they stop a missile attack? Cheers bud.

Tom Cruise I respect you
thank you
I saw the movie yesterday and cannot stop thinking about it. Tom Cruise is the last real movie star who can still put people in the seats. I am so happy this movie broke the box office record for a Memorial Day weekend opening. He deserves it. Tom Cruise may just be responsible for saving the movie industry all together. I like streaming at home, but nothing beats seeing a great movie in the theater. Since I am over 60, and the original Top Gun came out in the 1980’s when I was young, this movie really took me back. I saw some great previews for other films and plan to get into the theater a lot this summer, including seeing Top Gun Maverick a second time. Bravo Tom Cruise!
The first movie that actually makes me wanna go back to the theaters !
this movie also very popular in Aisa
Just went to see it at the theater with a friend. Best thing I did after Covid restrictions had been stopped. Tom Cruise is always the ONE. This sequel is so good and exciting.
It brought back so many memories from the 80’s when going to the movies was the highlight of our weekends.
Good grief. Just start the church of Tom Cruise already so you can kneel down and worship him.
Agreed
I really respect Tom Cruise, he keeps that old school Hollywood feeling alive. Locations, real stunts, and I feel like he pushes everyone to be their best.

Awesome movie about rekindling old friendships and testing then maxing out your abilities to achieve the impossible. As an aviation engineer all my life, I have just seen the original 86 version documentary of the making of top gun. It is very illuminating to anyone who is interested in aviation. That documentary told of all the shortcomings they faced, things the producers script wanted that were not physically possible to do in a real aircraft, even one as special as the F14. I am eagerly awaiting this new release. It just makes you feel proud to be an american.........and I am Australian!

It was bold of Paramount to take a shot on a film with a middle-aged, White, male protagonist. The odds of that happening in Hollywood today (though "Maverick" was finished 4 years ago) are about the same as a gay woman being excluded from the casting decision-making process.
Army movies: Everyone is Special Forces and can kill 50 bad guys with a potato peeler.
Air Force movies: Everyone is Special and eventually leaves to fly for NASA or Air Lines.
Navy movies: Chicks running around half naked. Pilots flying with just their taint.
Marine movies: Instructional videos of the hazards of eating Crayons for extended periods of time.
And I'm here for all of it.
Wait aren't you taking a pencil oh wait a minute that was fiction and it was gothem, and the joker and wait a minute and the first top gun wasn't there a pilot called The joker? 😄😄

As a current Naval Reserve Officer who is "just a Captain" and with 2,000 hours in the Hornet from my active duty glory days, I can say watching the original Top Gun in the 80s was what set me on my Naval career path. I am very much looking forward to Top Gun 2. Now don't mistake that enthusiasm for a statement that everything in Top Gun (or Top Gun 2) is accurate as far as Naval Aviation is concerned, but it is a movie that celebrates the spirit of Naval Aviation. How can you not love it?
My guess is that all the flack they caught from the first film from a "military/aviation technical" standpoint, they probably hired even more advisers this go round to make sure it's better. Just a guess though, but I can say how the hell is it 33 years later and he hasn't been forced out of service yet at O-6? Maybe reservist rules are different?
My turn, just finished 4 years enlisted…next stop flight school
1989-1993 I was an AO in VF-51, Commander (Rat) Willard was my CO for the first 2 years. He was the head flight coordinator for the first film. He had a slide show that documented the making of the movie from his point of view. He had some great stories, the one that stood out for me was how he described how enthusiastic Tom Cruise was to get to fly. He said the other actors were not so thrilled to ride in the back seat. They didn't like getting sick.
By paying attention to how the CCP conquers the entire world without shooting a single bullet, including vetoing what gets displayed and what doesn't in this movie. Victory is achieved when the "enemy" is demoralized, well, they skipped the fighting and went straight into demoralizing mode.

I absolutely cannot wait for this movie. Top Gun was absolutely thrilling and amazing. My dad flew the Drummon Helcat in WWII. I actually have his flight logs from then. I had no idea. My brother told me that my dad would have kept going if he had known the types of aircraft that was coming. But I think it was too much for my mom. Seeing his stuff is nothing short of amazing. Thank you to everyone who serves this country.
That's fantastic!
I know I would be extremely proud and I'm sure you are.
I'm in Lincoln UK and near RAF Waddington and Scampton...very proud of our aircrew who flew during WWII from our bases.
thats sooo cool. Do you still have those flight logs?
@@sidv4615 agreed I’d love to hear about em.
Shits gona be mind blowing on Imax
Me too! I cannot x wait to see this movie. OMG :) :)
I predict the female pilot will out fly everyone and save the day, cause that’s Hollywood now.

As much as I hate to admit it that's probably gonna happen
yah, not into broads in any cockpit.

What a masterpiece. I cried at least 10 times watching this movie. Tom Cruise is the biggest movie star on the planet.
Cry for a movie that prepares people for war against another country
It is unfortunate
Oh, the sound of the Bell..." One note takes me back to Jr. High...Me and my buddies watched Top Gun at least 100 times. Still tell people when they ask me a question ..."because I was inverted". Some just look at me like WTF?? But most just laugh.
I'm sure as with countless other people, whenever my answer is no to a question asked of me, my response is always "negative ghost rider, the pattern is full".
i legitimately want to watch this movie in theaters with the surround sound blasting in my ears. $AMC #tomcruise #rebootingtopgun franchise
YES!!! None of this streaming BS! This movie DEMANDS a theatre for the proper experience it deserves!!
full dolby sound!!
Tom Cruise wont allow crowds to watch this didnt you hear. Who you voted for and your stance on guns now required in California to purchase movie tickets.....but not to vote🤣🤣
Me too!!!
Too bad theatre volume is always so low. I wish they would blast the sound.
Being born in 1986, I consider it a privilege watching Top Gun as a child - when it was larger than life.
The movie did age very well, but I’m still sorry for younger generations never being able to grasp the movie’s dimensions back in the day!
They will. After they saw Top Gun 2, they will go back and watch the first one 😁
Oh idk. My oldest son must've had me put it in a hundred times. He's 24 now.
@@brianrufh3684 That's not like watching the original film in the theater
Using latest max tech in planes and camera for filming and dolby or DTS tech. for audio film going be cutting edge as real as it will get.
I saw Top Gun while I was in the military and my eldest was born on a base overseas.
He flies Hornets today. How cool is that?
All right - even I'm gonna see this one! I would like to say I am glad that Cruise made sure Val Kilmer was in this film. Val's had some bad luck and I especially wish him all the best! God Bless him, and Cruise as well!
Is this movie ever going to come out? Tom will be collecting SSN before it does.

When you hear that bell toll ... the adrenaline starts pumping.
100% It gets me every time.
After watching Top Gun in high school, a buddy of mine said, "Yeah...that's what I'm gonna do."
Sure enough, he became an F-14 pilot, and finished his career with a Star on his collar and was Commander of the fighter pilot school in Corpus Christi, TX.
Is he still flying?
@@BigRocksWilderness He quit flying about 7 yrs prior to getting his star. He was promoted to being more of an administrator at that time. I heard through the grapevine that he considered getting out at that point, but stuck it out.
I've seen the movie 3 times already. It's amazing! Go and see it on the biggest screen possible, you won't regret it!
I can't wait to see Iceman one last time. Go Val, we missed you.
Yeah, Val was awesome. Sucks he got cancer and aged badly😣
It’s depressing that we can’t see this film until next year now
Who cares? It's loud and obtrusive

I GIVE UP!
What do you mean by "political correctness"? I'm running out of ideas
I saw both 1989 and this year's Top Gun, and without being biased, the latter is superior: the aerial fight scenes are better, the story is never boring, and the daughter of Penny is particularly attractive.
Is it just me or you guys are also getting goosebumps every time that music playing?
it's insane really... Tom Cruise refers to himself as an entertainer... and to be making this kind of movie, one has to agree with the man.
Not just you. Imagine watching this in imax theater, with the perfect sound system.
I was a fighter jet pilot in the Navy for 6 years, And watching this trailer it seems like they nailed how hard it truly is to be a fighter jet pilot. Cant wait to watch the movie! 😀

no you weren't because in the navy pilots are called aviators, not pilots.

End of the world!
This looks next level awesome. Loved top gun when I was 9 years old. Just watching this I feel like I'm that little boy again.
You'll be an old man when this flick finally debuts
This is why Tom Cruise is by far the best action movie actor ever, and it isn't even close. The guy is on a different planet when it comes to what he actually does for his movies. The fact he wants everything to be authentic as possible is why he's the best for me. And why i gladly pay to watch his films. The guy puts his life on the line to entertain us.
A 60 year old test pilot? Yeah........................ mmm kay
@@cavitycreep what the fuck are you talking about? Who mentioned anything about a test pilot? And what about 60 year old test pilots? There's been plenty around that age. Chuck Yeager was in his late 50s when he quit testing aircraft. There's no correlation between age and being able to handle some Gforce.
Ill put him head to head with jackie chan.
@@rjadragel not to take anything away from Jackie Chan and the way he does his own dangerous action stunts, but you can't compare it.
This man right here literally straps himself to an airplane and then spends an entire year learning how to fly an F18 for real just so he can make the best and most realistic aviation movie ever. That's a level of dedication to entertainment that is unparalleled by anyone including Jackie Chan

Tom is so great!!
Loved Top Gun. Great scenes, the ocean, Kelly McGillis. Looking forward to this one. Looks really good and has Jennifer Connelly.
Not expecting Kelly McGillis are you? She said she would have cameo-ed in it but-- they didn't ask her.🙂
Yeah, especially since Tom has come a long way as an actor since then. I remember back in the 80's I hated his movies because of his cocky acting but after his performances in movies such as the MI and Jack Reacher sequels I've notice he's gotten better by the years.
@@archangelliii2536 in the color of money he is very good because he needs to be cocky for his character so it's a perfect match 😜
I wanna know what happened to Cougar.....did he regain his edge or did he end up becoming an airline pilot?
truck driver unfortunately..
For all the bad press Tom gets with his private beliefs , He is a damn good actor and there isnt an actor around of his age and his genre that would have the balls to do all his own stunts. He is and always has been an adrenaline junky. And the fact that the majority of this film will be all legit and not stained with CGI will most definitely be the ultimate cinema experience. Utmost respect for anyone involved with this film. Used to love going to Halloween Parties as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell.
Dont forget that not only he is so dedicated to his craft, he also does all his daring stunts. That's crazy.
His beliefs don't bother me. They are no more ridiculous than Christianity and a lot less dangerous to humanity. Christianity and Islam are both 'end of the world' cults. Putin is currently talking about God and destiny, just like Hitler did. I've never seen a Scientologist claim the world will end and most humans will perish in flames or threaten people with eternal torture in hell or say they don't have to care about climate change as God is in charge.
Christians have slaughtered and enslaved millions in the name of their religion. The Bible of course fully supports slavery. So the bad press Tom gets for his religion is just the same religious bigotry that any non-Christian gets from Christians who claim there is a war on Christianity when what they really mean is that they want to see all non-Christians burning in hell.
When is it coming out?
@@AnyoneCanSee that's why many pray 📿 and chaplets for the conversion of sinners, beecaause we Christians want to see sinners in hell. Even though there is those like Putin, kinder egg from North Korea, the monkey from Iran, Bashir arassad from siria, sadly for me as a Venezuelan Nicolas maduro and all that share their ditatorship ideas would be an exception for the way they treat their own people without going outside the borders.
