Say hi to Kathy, Geoff's wife. She's actually said when she needs to find Geoff all she needs to do is follow the vibrations (not her exact words but close).
They actually had to film this twice. Something went wrong the first time which was a shame because Rick Underwood (their normal mackup artist) wasn't able to do the make-up the second day.
The set is from PattyCake Productions (co owned by Layne Stein (Voiceplay Percussionist) and Tony Wakim (former member of Voiceplay)) part of their Villains Lair, totally going to recommend watching.
Thanks for the reaction 😊
Geoff began editing the first video, realized it was too dark-- lighting and tone, gory makeup. Decided to shoot it again. Rick was unavailable so Geoff and Kathy did all the makeup.
They have a running joke now about her talking him out of reshooting videos if he didn't get what he originally envisioned, or solving problems that come up during filming or editing.
Kathy is profoundly deaf and wears hearing aids. She can hear his low notes. That’s why she twitches when he hits the low notes. The characters are Dracula Wolfman and Igor.
I thought that was The Frankenstein's Monster, what with the chains and gray-green shirt like he always wears? Except when he's wearing a tuxedo ans singing "Putting On The Ritz."💙
Yeah, it's Frankenstein's monster.
We're always happy when lovely Kathy shows up in a video, it's like a bonus! She's Geoff's partner in every sense of the word! She helps with the videos so much, VP and Geoff would not be the same without her intelligence and creativity. And she's kind to Geoff's thirsty fans, cutting off the arms of his shirts for us! LOL! 💙
As others have mentioned Kathy is profoundly deaf , they made a video about hearing loss that is very informative and touchingly funny and sweet as well on his channel. Worth a watch. Can you imagine being a singer and married to a voice like that and no longer able to hear it?
Klown you are so funny. "I gotta go over this, this, this, this, this, this...and this" Love it!! 🤣
Geoff is a big fan of Halloween. So far he has given us four great Halloween treats. First was The Headless Horseman, Monster Mash, Ghost Riders In The Sky, last year was Jack's Lament. Patiently waiting for this years Halloween treat.
Keep trying with your music, remember Geoff and friends have been doing this since 1997. If you look at their earlier work you can see that it is better now. The talent was always there. Discipline and hard work produce something more than just talent. VoicePlay has it. Dimash has it. Many people have talent. Keep training, working, and producing ❤
Geoff and Voiceplay love the spooky stuff!! Try his version of The Headless Horseman....
The vocal layers are, indeed unbelievable.
Plus just think about the number of takes that were necessary to film each monster independently and then he video edits the best from each monster into a seamless whole.
Geoff has a huge library of samples which he uses to augment his backing tracks. He spend many hours choosing exactly the sound he wants, moment by moment. Geoff has said “Did you pick up on the "la la la" section? It's Bach's toccata and fugue in d minor, just shuffled and swung”. At the end, there is a hint of Fur Elise.
Keep in mind, Geoff worked for Disney/Universal for years - actors doing stop-motion jerkiness is a staple of the park. He may have created this effect by slowing down film, but he's quite capable of simply DOING it. There are traces of this in many of his VP performances.
Al the Voiceplay members performed at Universal Studios, Disney World or both.
Geoff and Tony Wakim were both in the Beetlejuice Graveyard Review for 10 years. Tony was Dracula and Geoff was Frankenstein's monster. Kathy also was in it as Bride of Frankenstein at Universal Studios.
At Disney Geoff was the Butler in the Haunted Mansion ride.
They still sing at Disney every now and then.
Wiggle those hips! This song is such great fun. Thanks for the video, your energy is great. Have a wonderful week.
The set is Pattycake’s castle set for their Villians Lair series. It was finish painted by a guy that did design work on the Hogwarts castle at Universal Studios.
Originally Geoff filmed this with much more of a horror feel - dark lighting, costumes and makeup. He started editing and realized that wasn’t what he wanted. (And was really disturbed at how dead Kathy looked). So he went back in, spread out the set and added color, and changed the costumes. Rick wasn’t available for makeup, so Kathy did his makeup. I agree with him that the result was much better.
Geoff & VoicePlay are reactor friendly. They don't have a big company behind them but are just funded via their patreons. So as far as I know there are no copyright blockings for their content.
Geoff's solo videos aren't acapella. Of course all voices are his ones, but he also plays some instruments (at least a piano / synth to create different instruments). And afaik he doesn't beatbox, so sound effects will be created differently.
No one notices his wife in the first view. 😂
To see Geoff beatbox, watch VP's Death of A Bachelor. It's just Geoff and Earl, and Geoff beatboxes and sings the bass line.
What a lot of people don't think is that because Geoff sings acapella with Voiceplay he sings it also on his solo channel.
He doesn't. He uses instruments and sound effects from the Native Instruments plugin and a piano keyboard.
He said that when he wants to sing acapella he has Voiceplay. And he doesn't want his channel to be the same. So he uses instruments.
Also.... Each of his clones have their own names with their own personality and ranges.
Jeoph and Daryl are bass. Goff and Jeff are baritone and tenor.
When Geoff sings solo the background voices are Goff, Jeoph, Jeff and Daryl.
Not Voiceplay. The only videos he had someone in it with him was the Hawaiian Christmas song (never remember the name) with the American Sirens.
And "Saddle Up" with Layne doing a non singing cameo throughout the video.
The standing monsters are Dracula, the Wolfman, and Frankenstein's Creature.
Geoff work is astonishing and can't wait for this year halloween
You picked up the Für Elise at the end, but if you pay attention to the ”la la la”’s it is Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor in a slightly scrambled swing beat.
The clones represent Dracula, Wolfman and the Frankenstein Monster. The dance moves also refer to tthem, with the addition of the Mummy: The Frankenstein Monster strangling his victim, Wolfman slashing. Dracula with his cape and the Mummy wrapped up.
By the way, he played the Frankenstein monster for over 10 years. He and his wife Kathy were in the Beetlejuice Rock n Roll Graveyard Revue at Universal Studios. She was the Bride of Frankenstein. You can find footage of them performing along with Tony Wakim (prior baritone for VoicePlay) as Dracula.
Although his solo work is not strictly a cappella (he does use instrumentation and plug-ins) some of the sounds I do believe were vocal. He worked with Layne to teach him how to beatbox and is capable of beatboxing on his own - although not professional quality at least not anymore.!
One reason I like to listen to his work (and that of VoicePlay) is how complex the arrangements are. I have no musical training but by watching reactors and analyst I’ve picked up a lot. I try not only to listen for pleasure sometimes but also to see if I can find some new little nugget of sound that I’ve overlooked in the past. Since you are a beat boxer you pick up on things that others don’t, just like the opera singers pick up on things that you wouldn’t. So it really makes me appreciate all the work that goes into it.
To clarify, Geoff originally taught Layne how to beatbox. Layne has since developed that skill to an awesome level. If you want to know if Geoff can beatbox at a professional level, watch VP's Death of A Bachelor. It's just Geoff and Earl. You can see and hear Geoff beatboxing and singing the bass line.
@@shirleykarr560 Death of a Bachelor is one of my favorites. And thanks for adding to, and clarifying, my comment. It was the first time I saw Geoff beatboxing and I was astonished.
There’s some very very old footage from when he worked at Disney where he’s also doing a little bit of beatboxing. But I couldn’t find the clip. I could’ve sworn I had bookmarked but 🤷🏼♀️
@@janetdw In that clip at Disney, are they dressed as conductors, performing next to a train? Or is there a clip I've missed?
There are several clips of Geoff, Earl, and Layne in various combinations, performing as conductors at Christmas time. As individuals in a group Disney assembled, not as VoicePlay. There's even one with Layne singing bass and beatboxing.
There's also an old clip -- like high school or college, maybe -- of Geoff in a red t-shirt, beatboxing on the steps of what appears to be a school building. When the guys started performing professionally in 1997, they were still in high school.
@@shirleykarr560 The train conductors, yes. I think Earl is there too. I’ll have to go look for the others now. 🙂
It was the first music I heard on RUclips and Geoff sang for me and then found VoicePlay! The choreography of Dracula, Wolfman (complete with fleas), and Drac's son, was by Buckey (ex-member of VoicePlay from yrs ago) who can be seen in VPs Drunken Sailor. It used dance moves by Frankenstein, the Mummy, draping of Dracula cape over the arm, Wolfman. The lady is Geoff's wife, Kathy, who did the makeup for this one. It had originally been done by Geoff's regular makeup artist, Rick Underwood (see his work in the outro of Jack's Lament) and they decided it was the vibe they wanted and Rick was already on to his next gig so Kathy did it.
He can also see Bucky in Voiceplay's 500 miles short. It's really cute!
The headless horseman song is fire 😊 deep notes 😮
I’m a renegade but I have been enjoying watching your other reactions as well. It’s been a lot of fun!
Yes, I am also a Renegade and love VoicePlay and Geoff. They, too are independent and do almost everything themselves. Glad to meet another Renegade here!
Hola desde Argentina... Desde que encontré tus videos no paro de verlos... Jajajaja sobre todo los de Voiceplay y Geoff... A quienes amo... Realmente super divertido!!! Un saludo a la distancia!😊
Thank you, one of my fave Geoff tracks 😊
Awesome reaction. I never noticed that she was there the whole time either, reacting to the lows
Geoff uses instruments in his solos.
Need to do Headless Horseman
Amazing and so much fun!!

Great reaction Geoff awesome - check out - Marcelito pomoy -the prayer - live on the wish bus - you will not be disappointed love and respect from the UK 👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing channel 👍
I don't know if you've seen their video for Oogie Boogie's Song from The Nightmare Before Christmas but the guy who play Sandy Claws is the brother of the lovely lady you see here, which makes him Geoff's brother-in-law. I think it's Eli doing his voice though.
That was my very first video i watched👀 made a video on it too :)
Hi you can react to sh boom cover voiceplay please?!
Layne has a fun inhale in it!
@@hwyla4416 yeah i know its Amazing
Beton Hofi - Bagira pls.🙏
This is a good one! So much fun. I’m so glad you enjoyed it💛💛💛
Geoff does use instrumentation with his solo videos so that he will not compete with his accapella group, VoicePlay.
Geoff's solos aren't acapella.
