Geoff is not just talented vocally, he knows how to be effectively theatrical. It's fun.
And this is really the lane Geoff has. Especially comparing him to Avi Kaplan, Tim Foust and Matt Salee, both in his solo work and with Voice Play. He's the one furthest into the musical theater space. It's great that this niche suits him so well, and allowed him and VP to get through Covid, and transition to a non-touring phase afterward.
Bassist Peter Barber has a very good discussion with Geoff on his YT channel. That I highly recommend.

      > And this is really the lane Geoff has.
I was unaware that Layne was even involved with this one, apart from being a co-owner of the studio where it was filmed. ;-)

Geoff's low notes are actually sometimes called "Geoffquakes." And he _can_ hit the lowest B on the piano, the B0. His talents abound. He can and does play the piano. And he has another talent you'll see in "Folsom Prison Blues" but I won't spoil it for you. Fantastic reaction! Although I will say that Voiceplayas love to see reactors watch the bits at the end. And you get more Geoff, which is awesome.💙

Be sure you watch all the way through the outro as it shows a little bit of behind the scenes.
A walking talking earthquake is a perfect description of Geoff.

His version of Jack's Lament is pure ear candy ❤ Love it when he flexes up and down the octaves 😂
The little " ghost dog" is named ZERO 😅
    Nice reaction, thanks 🙏🏼

yes of course the music is pre recorded. How else could he do the acting for the video, as I'm sure you know. And yes he uses samples - he has a collection of thousands. Geoff says he isn't an actor but he's just being modest. And yes his range is currently A0 to A#5. Unless he's improved on it. The dog is called Zero and if you watch the rest of the outro you can see how they achieved the dog's appearance which was then edited in. You should be able to find a video of the original song from the movie if you don't want to watch the whole thing.

He IS quite modest. A bit unusual in this business 😂

The dog is his companion. Kathy (his wife) animated Zero. Watch the remainder and you can see some background on how some of this from props to makeup is done. Geoff often does some extras at the end and I never tire of them. Jack's Lament is a beauty. Most of the props came from Geoff and Kathy's home because they love Halloween. The first music I heard on RUclips over 2.5 yrs ago was Geoff doing The Monster Mash. I was so impressed I found more of his work including VoicePlay. So darn good. Let me know what you thought of the outro!

Not gloves on Geoff's hands... It is makeup! This man is so talented

If you watch the outro you get to see the makeup being applied to his face and hands and how they created Zero, the ghostly pet of Jack's.

Thanks for your enthusiastic reaction! Yes you would enjoy watching the classic movie 'Nightmare before Christmas' as Voice Play does a few songs from that movie. Geoff and his wife, Kathy, (and most of the other members of Voice Play and their featured guests) are from Orlando Florida and started their career as performers for Universal and/or Disney theme parks. Geoff and Kathy worked performing at the "Beetlejuice Rock&Roll Graveyard Review" and the annual, monthlong 'Halloween Horror Nights" so they really are very good at producing and performing these spooky, Halloween themed masterpieces on their own. If you go back and watch to the very end, You will see the behind the scenes with Kathy and "Zero" the ghost dog and see Rick Underwood applying Geoff's makeup (Rick Underwood is longtime friend that did their makeup for shows at Universal and does their more difficult makeup involving prosthetics). Geoff has been playing piano since he was 5 years old and does use instruments on his solo channel as his group Voice Play is acapella.

In VP's cover of Oogie Boogie, Zero the dog is represented by Layne - which, in the movie, has a lit-up nose. Always enjoy your reactions, thank you!

Since I'm not into proper horror _The_ _Nightmare_ _Before_ _Christmas_ is my favourite Hallowe'en movie, so give it a go! Some great music from Danny Elfman, too, which VoicePlay has plundered very effectively.

Geoff has developed the amazing ability to switch seamlessly into subharmonics, and those low notes sound just like his chest notes.

Since you are getting into Voiceplay, I have 2 songs to recommend. They have a cover of the Halo theme that is absolutely a treat, they have a dueling beat boxers moment, make sure to watch the outro of it though. They also did a cover of Enemy from Imagine Dragons/Arcane, and that has both some good beat boxing and some range flexing by Geoff

I would also recommend watching Voiceplay's version of "Death of a Batchelor". It's just Geoff and Earl (the high tenor you mentioned in the 21 Pilots" video. Since it's just them, Geoff does the beatboxing too. He's not as amazing at it as Layne, but it's cool to see him showing off yet another talent!

A "lament" is a type of poem that expresses regret or sorrow. Probably the most famous ones, are the collection written by Jeremiah son of Hilkiah in the 590s and early 580s BC, related to the destruction of Jerusalem, which have been translated into over 700 languages.

That is Geoff playing the piano, but not _that_ piano, which was out of tune and just for looks. He prerecorded the music on his own instrument.
