The studio version is totally different. Faster and lots and lots of layer, almost impossible keyboard. Ikura sounds more vocaloid.. this live is more emotional, imo the best vocal version of this song

This was actually the video, where I discovered Yoasobi, like 2 years ago.
I've been almost hearing Yoasobi & Lilas Ikuta exclusively since then.
    Incredible talent & incredible voice

Love how Ikuta is being super cute as always but Jinx's creepy face is visible on her hair due to the blurred video 🤣🤣
She has a squeaky clean voice.

The thing about this song, other than the wonderful quality of Ikura’s singing, is that it’s so well constructed. The beat has a nice groove to it, but not overwhelming. You see how easily she moves to it while singing. There are some videos of other singers covering it, singing at the faster tempo of the original, and you see them having to stop moving in order to be able to keep up. she sings this song with almost no stress in her voice or her breathing, and even plays subtly with the beat, but she always keeps it moving. Of course this was their first song and their first hit, so she knows intimately, but I don’t think it’s an easy song because the melody has some leaps, as well as flowing passages, the lyrics don’t repeat at all, and there are two modulations that increase the range. There’s also nice instrumentation. You mention piano, but there’s a vibraphone-like sound to it as well, and the bass has a nice drive to it as well. And then the vocals add a percussive effect too. That first break almost has a Latin flair to it, almost like the Miami Sound Machine, and then there’s a rap-like passage as well, and she does them perfectly with very clean, precise diction. Some of the elements built into the Japanese language also help with that.

I've listened to this song a lot but never knew there was a live version. This is almost as good as the final produced version!

This is a pure vocal performance, if you want more technical JPop than groups Zutomayo and Yorushika are your answers, simply amazing with insane musicianship to go with the more pop vocals.

I recommend constantly checking if the video has english subtitles. This video has them. Ado has the same thing. But not all videos have them.

If i may recommend, try listening to yorushika next. And if you're up to it, you can also look into vtubers. There are sone hidden gems among them like hoshimachi suisei, which fun fact, she is the first vtuber that performed in The One Take

Your mistake is not listening to the official studio product. It has more depth in music theory and more "yoasobi" feel on it.
