This was one of the most intense fab work I've done so far, this ford 8.8 came out of an explorer and is going into our beloved #3 65 mustang. Maybe a 4 link soon?
Some people have also asked if I have a wishlist, so here you go!

When I was a fabricator we had many days where we had to do a LOT of heavy grinding. If I ever forgot to put a dust mask on I, and many of my coworkers, would end up with what we called "Black Booger Syndrome".
I got the black boogies even with the mask lol!
Cool 😎 I looked into nowing a diff many year's ago, and had books from hotroders and engineers they had set up a drop saw and made sure it was straight to cut and bolted into a jig to keep it straight , but I never did one lol back then to lots of guys doing them so could buy one already done , but if I do a project I may need to do this in future?
Tape measure ends slide on purpose so when you hook them on something, you get the right length. It moves exactly the width of the lip.
Looking good, Angel Pumkin Cake! And the only thing worse than gear oil is burnt gear oil😢
That’s definitely right lol
Your tape measure is working correctly. The tab is designed to live like that. That slop compensates for the thickness of the tab, if you are using it in a push or pull mode.
thanks !
Always great to see you work things out. BTW your measuring tape is correct with the loose end; it slides so you can do a butt measure, or a hook measure and it allows for the thickness of the end piece.
Thank you!
It was your first time. Having already seen later videos I know you have learned loads - and shared this with the rest of us
..and it was at this point in time, @20:30, he should have cleaned out the axle tube prior to welding. LOL Good video dude. I'm doing the same thing to my L33 swap TKX '68 Coupe !
Exactly!! 😂😂😂
Hell yea that sounds like a fun project!
I really enjoyed the way you attacked this scary project. Good luck at SEMA! Keep positive and work like crazy. (Because sponsors is work!)
Thanks Bob!
Very good fabrication work.
ayo, i didn't expect a callback! haha thanks man - loving this project so much! /highfive
🤘🏼
Great to see your clamps in action again! Glad I could help out.. Hopefully some more folks will jump on board, and you can snag that sweet floor jack!
without them I definitely could not have done this job, huge thanks again! Yes hopefully cause with age mine isn't staying up lol
The hook on the end of your tape measure moves the thickness of it to allow for hook and butt measuring..that's what makes it accurate
Building a work bench would be a good idea
Nice work...👍🤠
Always use hose clamps, not tape for cutting round tubes bare minimum
Has a tape measure that has both inches and millimeters, still uses the less accurate inches. 😅
Looking good! I hope you get some sponsors at SEMA. 🙂
Nice work joven 👍🏼
For the clocking, you could always go back and look at your footage. You wrote "like, subscribe" on the tape. You could line that up same as on the camera, then add your clocking marks.
If it wasnt for those words i would have 100% would have welded it 180 degrees off. So you’re absolutely right! 😂
Might want to check the clutch pack in that. They're a wear item and many are worn out by the time they get to the wrecker stage. Better than putting in the car only to find out you don't have a LSD. 😊
Great point, thanks!
If you have a next time use the axle if you can get the clip in you can make it work, Straight and square is a bigger deal. Cars are not built that precisely back in the day.
Wow! Excellent attention to detail and a great result, very nicely done!
Thank you! Cheers!
love this video - as for the doodle oil smell, next time, cut up an onion before hand, or.... light a match! 😝
Good idea!! maybe light a candle 🤣
Great work Angel
Good job! thats how you learn from your midtakes...
Yessir!
Hey Angel awesome job I would have been nervous too. And now for the hard part of placing and welding the brackets in the right spots, lol sorry did not mean to make you nervous.
Well thanks kirk 😂
I absolutely hate the smell of gear oil as well. It is probably the worst lubrication smell in the lubricant family. Your videos are awesome though. I plan on building a mustang 2 for drifting and I'm loving this up-to-date mechanical knowledge from your videos. Keep it up!
I agree! Hell yea man thats sounds like a badass build! Thanks man, I appreciate it!
Nice job Angel. I agree with you about the more powerful welder for next time - better safe than sorry. I also agree with you about the smell of gear oil, just watching you I could smell it. Good Luck at SEMA. Regards, Dave
Thanks Dave!
You’re a good welder! That mustang is going to be a sweet ride!
Thanks graem!
@@rookie__pilot hope to see you at SEMA!
Great job! Hopefully a 4 link isn’t too bad to find. I was curious when you’d realize you forgot to mark that line.
Haha thanks!
Hey Man, I like your channel and your face. After having one disc explode in your face, please put the safety guards back on your damned grinder. One slip and ain’t AFC anymore!
Great job Angel. I'm guessing you'll be able to use the same length axle on both sides, since they're the same length now?
Correct! We have to go on a fieldtrip to the junkyard
@@rookie__pilot noice 👍
I would had made a piece of strip with the correct length as a caliber so you didn't have to measure it every time with the ruler.
Thats perfect, will do that next time
hello from Venezuela, your video its perfect, its made for dummies ,i will make these job for a ford falcon 1961 the measurements are the same??
i enjoy this video, good material , thanks you
Thanks for the daily dose of GEAR OIL & 2 7/8 17 3/8😂🙌🙌
Lol, i should have done a count of how many times i said either 😂
@@rookie__pilot 😆
I've never messed with a dif, is there a reason you couldn't pull the axle tube out of the pumpkin and cut and press it back in????
That is definitely a good option which would probably leave a cleaner result, but requires a press big enough to push the axle tube back in!
Maybe you mention it in the video, but what is the overall length of the axel after you make the modifications?
Someone please explain to Angel how a measuring tape works :)
Did you measure the runout at the end of the axle tube? Im assuming you can buy shorter axles, or you gonna have to cut and weld one of those too :) :) ?
Someone already explained lol, you can use another passenger side axel
@@rookie__pilotanother axle from the other side - of course! 😁
👍👊
🤘🏼👍🏻
Hey bro, nice work. One question, how did you fix the long axle to fit back?
You have to use another short axle, i pulled the extra from the junkyard ✌🏼
@@rookie__pilot like the short side but from another rear end?mmmm ...... Smart!
@@rookie__pilot one more question, where did you get the bracket to mount the new rear end?
You need some better metrology tools...
For those who don't know: Gear oil smells like cat pee
You got all that extra space in that engine bay with that mustang ii suspension, might as well toss in a big block
My wallet says i cant have anything over 302ci lol 😂
@@rookie__pilot that's fair
