Given that you plan on building the international airport so close to the downtown, it is extremely important to factor in where the runways will be pointing and adjusting the heights of the buildings accordingly.
All depends on the flight paths, I guess. As long as the planes aren't clipping the skyscrapers, anything goes! Plenty of real world examples of crazy airports.
I'm officially part of the build! Thanks Mr.Egg! Always a pleasure interacting with you and the community! Learning how to make networks and build downtown is a gift!
I feel so lucky to get another video so soon! Thank you Egg. I would suggest extending the downtown tram network into the new residential and commercial area, as they are quite high demand areas but sit between the metros and so dont rly have mass transit.
The "well hello people" is always the highlight of my day, it's like a guarantee for about an hour of peaceful entertainment ❤ Awesome views and layers already, love the green space at the stadium/shopping district, perhaps could do with a couple of cafés/fast food stands/thunderboxes around the edges. By the by what happened with the small industry zone? Did they not grow in the tourism spec or you just simply didn't like what came in? Excited for part 2 😊
You know you are doing it right when the up close views from within the downtown are as rewarding as the distant views of the skyline. You have created so many neat little spots to see and enjoy.
I like how different this skyline is so different from the other OE downtowns. It's very spread out and open and I think that's a really nice approach. Amazing work.
Phenomenal start! Many cities have weekly or monthly events called Live after Five or First Friday, where the public can come gather after work, bring their lawn chairs/camp chairs, check out art from various artisans, enjoy some cocktails and food from vendors, while listening to live Jazz, Hip Hop, or other types of live entertainment. Would you consider having the greenspace near the stadium and transit being used as sort of a pavilion where public events and open concerts could take place?
i think the tallest buildings should be build at the end of the island, in the middle which is directly in front of future airport, it should be height limited, so maybe that whole middle portion can be parks or brooklyn style buildings..
Hello Egg, at first I want wo mention that this is my first comment ever (+ - 20 years online) and probably the last. I enjoy ur series so much I can't really tell. I tried to rebuilt Orchid Bay (in my way) twice but was never even close to the satisfaction ur videos have for me. Ur way of building, ur patience, game sense, creativity and even ur calm voice and humor are unmatched on YT in my opinion. Thanks a lot and keep on going.
I think I know why you love orchard Bay. With the new ccps and new vehicles and add-ons. There is more variety to mix and match. Thanks for the tip about green cities residential didn't know they have the tallest residential high density buildings
You seem, Egg, if I may be so casual, for be playing roughly the same game I am, on my xbox1, unlike some of your heavy-hitting content creator buddies, which is nice. ...this build is a masterpiece
A wonderful start for what promises to be an incredible city centre for Orchid Bay! I love how nice and spaced out everything is. Great choice of assets - I had the same initial thought about the Korean twin towers but have grown to really like them and have found a good use for them. I love how the two tall Green Cities towers act as a second set of twin towers to compliment their Korean friends. Just ONE thing I would suggest - move that other tower a little bit further away from the Korean duo (even just one or two tiles) maybe putting a pathway or a small plaza between them, just to give the Korean duo a bit of breathing room since that other tower is quite wide. It'll still add to the skyline without butting right up close to the twin towers. Otherwise though, a solid episode. Love it!
specific things I like about your building style : generous yet tasteful and thought through tree placement. creative design of backdoor area and private or semi private gardens. buildings plaza, acces pathways, parkings. integrated multimodal transit system. using architectural themes coherently, taking into account the surrounding buildings yet adding diversity to the city. abundance of pedestrian area, cycling ways and parks. filling all the little spaces and giving them meaning using a lot a fences. I didn't include everything around your building style that make all of this so wonderful including your editing job, your personality, your interactions with your community etc Also, I have the upmost respect for your creative direction and your understanding of the general intent of the community. I know that this is only my opinions and I would enjoy your work just as much if you would'nt take into consideration my comments (i would prefer thinner roads tho x) )
I really love the way this city center is growing. The lawn area against the red path looks great, but may have you used the Heart of Africa conference centre yet? I can't remember. I think the low profile and pop of colour would suit the area well. I think Orchid Bay is fabulous and you deserve all the attention you are getting for such an amazing build.
High-density and highrise buildings are the hardest things for me. -Might be because Norway doesn't really have much of it, even in our biggest cities. :D
In the green space by the stadium, I think it would be nice to add a pond/ small lake. Bring some water inland a little bit with a bit of park spice and lights around the water
The left side of the downtown where the baseball stadium is should be night life. Sports venues sometimes run late at night and I have some fond memories of going to bars/ restaurants after a sports game to extend the night with my friends! Walkability is key for this thou so keep that in mind
Oh yes, this is what we've all been waiting for. I really appreciate all of the large green space too. One thing that always bugs me about large city downtowns is the overwhelming amount of concrete, and I would very much enjoy my time sitting in one of those parks staring at the skyline.
NICE! Can I just say how I really love the way you setup sightlines! You've only been doing it "forever, but downtowns really put the exclamation point on it. I've finally started trying to do the same in my cities
I'm very much enjoying the buildup happening! My only biggest concern, or small critique, is the lack of parking for the two large stadiums. It's just feels unrealistic in a way. I'm not sure if you meant to do that, or if you plan on doing that. Thank you for the streams, it's a good relaxing start to my day when I watch them.
Really is a great build! Love all the transport going thru the city and how it creeps it's way up in height, mixed with shopping etc. Looks wonderful!❣
Such a beautiful build egg. Amazing how a vanilla build is looking much better than mods. Hate to be the baron of bad news but that African pack conference center would be very fitting in one of those parks.
Love this and love the series! Im usually good at building out my lower / mid town vibes and then have a bit of a mental block with downtowns so always good to get the tips!
The new downtown area of open grass, I think is crying out for some sparsely placed wildflowers. Think of small patches trying to take hold. Enjoying the build. #Pro tip Feel free to name the new space "Gregory's Place" 😎 All the best, Gandalf
The Six Rivers Centre is the peak of the skyline? Wow! In my opinion, I thought it was going to be the Japanese Office Skyscraper or Pinoa Street. So that tells me that Orchid Bay Downtown Core is going to be very busy! Looking forward to it Egg!
I love seeing you upload! You inspired me to play Cities again. I love your enthusiasm and excitement when you play, it's so infectious. Can't wait to see this project through and see how Thessia turns out.
Really enjoying your channel. In Cape Town we have a “first Thursdays” event once a month where all the museums and galleries downtown are open and there are no entry fees. Could be nice to have a bit of an ‘art district’ with museums and chic little galleries closer to the waterfront? Keep up the awesome builds 😉
Not at all strange for a Baobab to be moved and made a feature. In Durban, South Africa, the Botanical Gardens has 2 which were moved there from the drier Kruger National Park area. The gardens also have an exquisite orchid house. 😂 These trees are not found naturally on the coast. Durban Boy's High also has a Baobab next to their rugby fields that was donated to the school. The tree is a very important part of the culture and traditions for the school.
I love this build guide Started following the build guide now that cities skylines has now a remaster for next gen consoles just waiting for them to finish updating and translating everything over to the new remaster to make the most of the dlcs and new ccp which are not available yet but when they all do I’ll be watching this again on a new bigger brighter map also I’m a sucker for entertainment maybe a nice small entertainment district would be nice close to the downtown
As inspiring as always! My own style is so governed by how you lay things out - it's almost like you've brainwashed me at some point in the last few years. And I too, love a couplet!
Currently binging through this brilliant series and loving every second of it ♥️ a little late to the party as one could guess commenting 9 months later 😂😂 Would like to know: is there a “before and after” time lapse from the view down from the mountain? Like from every time you took a look down on to the growing city? 🥰
Thanks mate! Glad you're enjoying it! Haha there is later in the series but cannot remember what episode off the top of my head! I'll let you stumble upon it 😁 enjoy the binge mate, thanks for watching
*SUGGESTION* : I think the six river center building feels a little smaller for the peak of skyrise as its only 286 mtrs high , where we can have the highest building available with contant creator pack that around 400 mtrs high , it would look amazing and can be seen from miles away.
I thought the modern city centre was broken as nothing changes with my high-density, and watching this confirms it. I wonder what could be up, I've never seen these buildings before.
What a great start to the downtown. Does the harbour hub have trams in it? If so I can’t remember if they got connected in on or not. Either way a tram line in the riverside park would look great especially as the parklife area would allow you to snap buildings onto the tram road
ahhhh!!! this is soo stunning!!!!! i'd love to live in this city. looking forward so much to the financial district!!!!!!! thank you so much for this omg love your stuff so so much

Thank you again and have a great day

Strong point! I'm thinking we may add some terraformed 'runway piers' to the island :)

If you connect the new police road with the monorail bridge junction would add more connectivity for the police.
That spot in the left of the island you could make into a large city park or large Intercity university campus or a bit of both
