$20 on steam and slated to drop on console this year
Bless your heart,
I was actually wondering.
which console
thx!
game is gud
hopefully no account linking to that console 😂
Sights on the AMR: still misaligned.
Sights on Sony's foot shooting gun: _perfect._
How is it misaligned? Is it surely not a zero thing? I know the HMG is fucked up but how about the AMR? It seems occasionally capricious on my end but I attribute it to lag
Sony didn't just shoot Arrowhead in the foot, they blew their leg off.
Nah those sights are misaligned too. They missed the foot and hit their head.
They used the AFR, anti-foot rifle
Arrow head: mY lEg!!
The thumbnail "100,000 negative reviews" made me think of the starship trooper meme, "100,000 dead in an hour." Which fits so well with what's going on.
*writes negative review* im doing my part! none of my friends even play hd2 now cuz of this
For real, just last night it was siting at mixed and overnight it's mostly negative. I absolutely love how this game has trained its player base to band together for a single cause like this to absolutely chuck the steam reviews into the abyss. I came to the game two months after launch and the PSN link was mandatory for me which I did, but even I can step in to do my part to fight for my unfortunate fellow helldivers who don't have the option, but to suck it up and lose access to a game they paid at least $40 for. Had SomeOrdinaryGamer say that the PSN linking is for Snoy to boost their concurrent PSN player numbers for this game, no doubt it helps raise their share prices and what not. I never believed for a second that a soulless corp would give two damns about player safety outside of them getting a lawsuit.
face palm! god danm life have an twisted sense of humor 😅
The amount of boot lickers telling you to "read the fine print" when Snoy was caught changing said print retroactively is hilarious.
I gotta consooooooom!
They're not real people. If something sounds like a bot it's a bot. The age of just pretending there was botting online is long gone. You can see it everywhere now.
i heard it form another person the correct way to pronounce sony as soyny
The text for the agreement was there DAY 1. I didn't like it, but I still agreed with it to play the game, and so did all of you. I'm living with the decision because I knew I could cope. You're all pissed because you didn't plan ahead. Maybe learn next time before making a purchase? This is YOUR fault for accepting the terms. Welcome to the corporate world.
You can tell by the Steam review bomb how many "bootlickers" there really are. ~4k positive reviews, ~95k negative. Get some perspective, there's almost zero people defending this. We don't have to listen to the loud racket of what is objectively a tiny, tiny minority.
Sony execs better change their mind, I am not making a PSN account just so they can show their shareholders or whatever how many active PSN users they have. I'd rather not play the game.
I’d rather play the game I love while also being equally outraged at Sony’s terrible decision(s). You can do both pal, just food for thought. Now if you’re unable to, that’s a different story altogether.
@@Accupace Being outraged and still playing actively makes Sony see that they can just do this without consequences.
I just made a fake psn acct. Fake name, address, email, etc...
@@GuidingLightAngel Arrowhead aren’t to be blamed here though (at least not to the extent people think), Sony is. There are a plethora of better ways for affecting Sony, lol. That’s a flawed line of hive-mind logic imo. I like the game, so I’m going to still play it, however I can still dislike and condemn Sony for their horrible decision making. Two things can be true at once, that’s the thing some of y’all don’t understand.

Arrowhead literally want more negative reviews to give them more pull with Sony.
They've just been using people from the start. This isn't Sony's fault, it's Arrowhead's.
@@JoMcD21 the questionable patches and all? sure arrowhead did goof up there but everything related to psn? thats mostly on sony here and they are 10000% at fault for this shitshow HD2 is in
@@JoMcD21 Yes, there are CMs who wanted PSN to make banning easier, but to say the views of a few reflect the views of the whole is misguided. I don't think Pilestedt is working for Sony, he seems to genuinely be on our side. When an "AH_Joel" was running around spawning in the APC a few months ago, the devs didn't seem made. If it was a hacker, they could've easily buckled down and enforced more rules, but they didn't. If it were Joel, it shows they wanted to make a few people smile and bring some hype in a new way. Some CMs (Looking at Misty specifically, but Baskin and, now to a lesser extent since Spitz seemed to do some damn research) shouldn't have a microphone. They're the literal reason why "children should be seen and not heard" was so popular in the 15th century.

It’s shocking to me how many people are trying to defend or otherwise excuse this mess
Boot lickers are everywhere
Yea it’s genuinely mind-boggling.
How many people are defending it?
I am defending Arrowhead. People are lumping them into it even though they CLEARLY dont want it. SONY is the publisher, they set up the steam page, they set that it can be sold to people outside the places PSN network and they are pushing AH to turn it back on (It was already on in the first 3 days)
@@madhudson1I don't there is actually that many, just that those that are are really stubborn
As Dough says, the only way to get back at Sony for this is to be a responsible consumer. Vote with your wallet, and ignore Sony products. Most people can't or won't do that, which is why the industry is in its current state of treating consumers as whales to be drained of money, but the simple fact is they only care about your money.
So don't give it to them. Obviously.

Just a perfectly clear cut example of the modern videogame industry. Incredible game with small dev, absolutely shit on by corperate greed. Shit, even when we get the miracle of a COMPLETE game on launch, it has to be hindered by corperate ties.
We just cant have anything nice.
as far as i am aware... this isn't the game's launch... but early access... a.k.a. "closed beta"
nvm... double check now and it is indeed a full release. Don't know why i was under the impression that is was early access.
@@Sith90lord don't blame you, most games are "early access" for years before "release" just to excuse it being unfinished.
Corporate greed and shareholder capitalism in general is a cancer on human civilization in very literal terms. And this is hardly limited to video games. Car and gas companies collude to keep fuel efficiency shitty. Appliance makers all design their shit to break in ways that can’t be easily fixed after a few years so you are forced to keep buying appliances. Not to mention the food companies cutting corners and putting toxic chemicals in children’s food to save money.
The entire corporate structure is actively evil and very deliberately puts short term profits over long term survival of human beings.

Sony's policies need to change. They have had 3 incidents within a month. Helldivers 2 is one example of them strong arming devs.
Sony is a Japanese company, just like Nintendo. They're very top-down and hierarchical so when the top brass says something everybody below them just needs to nod and say YES SIR enthusiastically. They're backwards, old fashioned and don't care about users much. Especially users outside of Japan.
I love Japan as a country, but they're silly in some aspects. They still unironically use fax machines. I don't expect (the fossils in C-suite positions at) Sony to easily back down.
The UELA on steam for HD2 also doesn't say a PSN account is required. That's what matters when I bought it. To now make it mandatory is illegal. Especially in the EU with personal data laws.
The requirement has always been on the steam page but enforcement was disable do to launch issues. I dont like it anymore then you but Im not dense enough to think Sony hasnt covered its legal basis here especially when this such requirement are common practice. Also I dont think you even remotely understand what an EULA does, because just trust me on this, giving leverage to the consumer is the very last thing it would do.
@@helmholtzthemulewatson4763 The EULA trumps the little banner on the steam page though. And Sony hasn't covered their tracks. They only today changed their ToS from optional PSN account to mandatory.
@@helmholtzthemulewatson4763 they are dence enough just for 1 reason.I can buy this game in Russia and for 3 month i play it with my buddies. Eh, I don't think it is illegal, but is is unethical. If you think sony will get legal backlash from this, then think again.
Minecraft purchases for many were before microsoft bought it. Yet we had to link accounts to microsoft despite it not being the terms we bought into. Not a single lawsuit to be found, because there is no reason to sue. Good luck to you if that is something you yourself will be pursuing.
There is no recovery beyond removing the requirement to have PSN. I already uninstalled HD2.
100% I don't trust them. It doesn't matter who's fault it is. The end result is all that matters.
We gotta start tagging shareholders at Sony so we make them thing the company is not doing their best interest

2.- We use that money to short $sony

I left my negative review. Called out Sony, mostly, but also included the bizarre/annoying patching and balancing philosophy of Arrowhead. They want people to speak their minds, they got it.
Totally agree, but was wondering exactly what you dont like about the balancing, because i have my reasons too. Just want to hear other opinions.
@@hunk8562 They balance based on usage statistics. Warframe pulls the same crap and I’m tired of it
@@hunk8562 It's a lot of things coming together to be just an overall bad time, honestly. Needless, borderline arbitrary nerfs to weapons that simply don't really need them. Buffs that are so minor as to be nearly inconsequential. The fact that they are so fixated on minute nerf/buff juggling when there are serious or at the very least annoying bugs that need to be dealt with. Bizarre and poorly thought out buffs or changes to enemies while simultaneously disadvantaging players.
A lot of my current play time has been duo dives with my wife. The latest balance patch feels like it over tuned spawns/patrols while nerfing various weapons that were reliable and versatile (coupled with the usual long standing bugs that are just irritating and limiting to players). Even lowering the difficulty to 4 when previously we had been hovering around 6 or 7 didn't really help. Things just felt drastically and noticeably more "unfun." I understand that "buff only" is not the most intelligent way to maintain a game, but making so many decisions that force the player into a specific situation or play style while removing viable "fun" options is way worse. Not everyone wants to use the weapons Arrowhead wants you to use, nor do they want to give up the weapons they enjoy using just because Arrowhead finds certain builds annoying. Also, people have several reasons that they dive with "x" amount of players. Requiring that you need 4 divers to have a non-shitty experience because of enemy changes is moronic.
Additionally, Arrowhead's cocky/arrogant response to player concerns about balance was amusing at first, but it's gotten incredibly tiresome with every subsequent patch. Sometimes players who frequently interact with your game know a bit more than someone looking at a graph of all the popular weapons.
Exactly. Arrowhead isn't clean in all this either. Their balance has been terrible and the community manager is frequently insulting players with legit criticism. Spitz was the one telling us to leave and get a refund if we didn't like it. You have to verify your phone number to talk in the Discord now too. Actual big brother type shit.
Same. My review went from raving about the game to, "do not recommend" a few weeks ago due to smug community managers defending poor prioritization of dev resources.
"I'm doing my part!"
IM DOING MY PART!
"I'm doing my part!"
"I'm doing my part!"
*Sony:* *Well I didn't do fuckin shit!*
I’m doing my part
It's crazy how quickly the reputation of a beloved game can switch up so easily in just a couple of days, all because of corporate greed from the parent company 😔
Steam shows over 130K negative reviews currently. Sony needs to be honest about the "why" of it. The devs need to be honest about the "why" of it. This is about padding numbers and fishing for new subs, so, it's about Money and not "player safety". This could have been handled in a variety of better ways including making it optional for PC users due to the number of Nations that simply can't access the PSN and to incentivize doing so with ingame currency or other rewards because carrots on sticks still work and the greater the carrot the greater the incentive.
It's not the developers who made the decision. The announcement was signed "Sony". The devs are also against it, which is why the CEO was talking about the review score on Twitter, saying it was "warranted". Go after Sony, not the developers. The PSN requirement is definitely for padding numbers, but it's Sony who wants to pad numbers, not the developers.
They shouldn't have sold the game on those countries to begin with, it is a CLEAR scam, they even stealth changed the ToS but the internet won't forget.
@@alexlowe2054 It's so easy to overlook the original failure of getting into bed with Sony in the manner which surrendered so much control. You don't get to blame "the Devil" while holding the contract behind your back. C'mon now.
@@Blakkrazor69 The last sentence here is so crucial. I love the game arrow head has given us but they chose to partner with Sony and now they are paying that price unfortunately.
It's a co-op game. What griefing are they talking about? Simple. They aren't. It's a bullshit excuse, and looking at the last 10 years of nonsense, I worry about things like that Carol Baskins (whatever her name actually is) CM banning people left and right for arbitrary reasons. She's made it very clear that she hates the type of people who like games like this. She's not the only one I don't trust, either.
We also had spitz come out with a bs response about not knowing which "john" was which when trying to ban cheaters without PSN unique identifiers while forgetting that steam has steam64 ids which already are unique identifiers. I can't imagine that is helping them at all. Maybe I am missing something but that response didn't clarify anything for me. Also Sony 0/10.
ye there's three different identifiers they can use. Just misinformed
@@BigDBrian Ha you wish they were misinformed have you seen how this person in particular and all CMs in general treat people and act? They're disgusting tyrants. Spitz was lying. On purpose. I know this is mind blowing to gaming autism-o's. Spitz is the Sus the Amogus.
It's worth nothing that the same individual from Arrowheads' community management team at 3:55 was actively antagonizing the playerbase yesterday and pretty much saying "what are you gonna do, reviewbomb us?". They're "on the side of the players", my ass, another one of their community managers tweeted the day before saying that Arrowhead also wants the PSN link so they can ban players without having to go through Steam guidelines. They deleted that tweet and then made their account private.
And then they got review bombed to oblivion. And now they're backpedaling and pretending to be on the players' side the whole time. Absolute scum.
your wasting your energy on an incident that holds little relevancy in the grand scheme of this Sony situation at a whole. your just looking for someone to get mad at and I get it
which community manager was the one that deleted their tweet and then went private? absolutely sounds like AH behaviour but i'd like some proof on it to be sure. the amount of bootlicking people are doing for that company in the wake of all this is unreal.
@@Kaphriel1That CM was clearly mocking players concerns so yes the CM should be fired and it was the same Spitz that probably got chewed off yesterday.
@Kaphriel1 don't you have some boots to lick? Why are you wasting precious company time on RUclips? Go on. Get.
Keen eye. Respect.
I'm pretty sure the culture in Sony's C suite is that if customers are happy, that's just an indicator of higher tolerance for anti-consumer practices so they can juice people for data/money/whatever. I really hope that Arrowhead is hurt as little as possible in this.
In the Battletech universe, when Stefan Amaris schemed his way to the overthrow of the Cameron Dynasty and the rule of Terra itself, he then attempted to convince the mighty Star League Defense Force--and in particular one General Aleksandr Kerensky--to join his side. Kerensky replied with a single word--"No"--and proceeded to conduct a masterful campaign that saw the defeat of Amaris's Rim Worlds Republic forces and the restoration of order to the Inner Sphere (however temporarily). This is broadly applicable to our situation; Sony has played its hand and is now holding the developers who were naive enough to trust it as hostages while it demands that we, the Helldivers, serve its every maniacal whim. I don't know about you, but I'm feeling a lot like Kerensky right now.
Seylah!!
kick down the doors to the palace with his own personal orion too
I believe the stellar blade censorship changes were actually the day OF release. So people who got hard copy versions day 1 had one version of the game, and then they got the "day 1 patch" which censored a ton of the stuff in the game.
People who got digital review copies got the day 1 patched version so you'll see a lot of creators saying it was always like that but this is because they got an already patched version.
Even if both Steam and Sony had similar rates of data breaches, Steam users are being forced to double dip the risk by linking accounts.
Not even similar.
12 years on steam. Haven’t been hacked once. Owned a PS3 2 years and went through that big hack where the network was down and for over a week and 70 million people had their data breached.
I trust one and will never trust the other.
This guy Spitz is a CM for Arrowhead, it shows how useless these people are in their "jobs" since they can't even inform themselves before shitting on players.

One of my issues is that I could not care who is toxic in my game, I could mute them, kick them, or leave the session - I don't need Sony to do that for me.
Sonys "very questionable decision" pretty much violates the very premise of the EUs GDPR legislation. If they go through with this both Sony and Arrowhead will be liable for violating GDPR and at this point they cannot count on this not getting reported. It will be. By a whole bunch of people. If they do NOT NEED a piece of personal information to provide a given service, and try to get you to give it anyway, they are in violation of GDPR. They have just proven that PSN IS NOT REQUIRED in any way to run Helldivers 2, as it has now operated succesfully for several months without it. EULAs are pretty much considered non binding toiletpaper in the EU. ESPECIALY if one side decides to change and tweak the EULA after the fact. Just a teeny tiny bit.
I would also like to point out that BOTH Sony and Arrowhead are large enough companies/corporations that they are required to have a "compliance employee" who should make sure they do NOT violate GDPR. BOTH Sony AND Arrowhead SHOULD KNOW BETTER.

That truly is the best question, how can we hold SONY accountable. Sony has even changed their support site to hide the fact that until yesterday, sony themselves claimed PSN was optional to play games on PC. The best thing we can do is leave negative reviews for HD2 on steam to give the CEO more power when talking to the sony morons, and to punish sony we need to drop all sony subscriptions. Sony wants more money? We hit them where it hurts, we simply stop giving them money. Want to play armored core 6? Say no and go play something non-sony. If you have a playstation and want to fight, boot up your pc and play something else. Their Q2 reports are coming up, and what will hurt them most is them having to show investors a massive drop in player count, revenue, and customer trust.
I'm not saying we stop permanently, but long enough to cause massive damage to sony's reputation and make their investors furious.
Not giving them your money would be a good start
Refunding the game would be an excelent start
But we all know you're already hooked
@@kokorochacarero8003 Not really. I only play with my friend group, and none of us have played ever since they announced that. We all are actively working on getting refunds as well. I am currently on attempt 3. There are tons of great games to play, and there always will be other options.
@@mobiust708 I stand corrected
Would a collective lawsuit to get Sony to refund everyone if it doesn't resolve itself be technically feasible?
Some players have successfully refunded HD2 with 92+ hours played over 2 months
There's a huge chance that Steam will allow refunds for this case, might take a few attempts to get to a human review of your refund case but I'm very confident that's how Steam would do it.
For Sony's T&C you can check the way back machine. They were caught red handed
Is someone building a case on Reddit or somewhere like that? I could have sworn it said it was optional.
i only see 2 reasons why sony pushed this change:
- it makes their userbase look bigger on reports
- being able to ban players gives them leverage over arrowhead's creative direction
It's funny that Sony hasn't been able to fix their security issues when they've had a decade of opportunities to fix them. That's not just incompetence, that's malicious. I've worked on lots of software teams. Even the worst teams full of the most incompetent developers can learn and fix problems if the business actually cares enough to assign that work to the devs. PSN is insecure because Sony doesn't care. They don't care, and a decade long history of security breaches hasn't hurt their reputation enough to make them care. They know that the data they're collecting is available for free to people who want to steal it, and they're choosing not to secure our personally identifiable information.
Hit Sony where it counts. Hit them in the wallet.
Also, this has blown up enough that it's suddenly becoming a legal problem for Sony. In the EU, you can't unilaterally change the terms of EULAs, and the PSN account requirement was never part of the actual EULA. If Sony wants to enforce mandatory PSN accounts in the EU, they'll probably end up getting sued. There's also some potential GDPR violations, since Arrowhead demonstrated for 3 months that the account linking information wasn't a requirement to play the game, so linking accounts constitutes a collection of "unnecessary" personal information, which isn't allowed under the GDPR.
Also, since adding PSN accounts requires a EULA change for a THIRD PARTY SERVICE that BREAKS THE GAME, that opens up the door to request a refund through Steam, even if you've played for hundreds of hours. Do not accept a new EULA. Mention that the developers (publishers) are blocking access to the game, unless we sign up for a third party service. Mention that they *obfuscated* and *waived* the requirement for months, to get past the refund window. If they don't change the EULA, mention that the requirement was NOT listed in the EULA you signed during purchase. If Sony does change the EULA, mention that the EULA was changed to require a Third Party Service signup after your refund window, and you do NOT agree to the new EULA.
I'm betting that the account requirement never happens, due to the legal troubles Sony would end up in if they ever tried to actually enforce it. If it ever does, there's a good chance we can push back against Sony by striking them with a mass refund policy. The more refunds that get approved due to this issue, the more likely it is that Valve will have to step in and either allow unilateral refunds, or help by pushing back against Sony's requirement. Getting the game delisted in all the non PSN countries would be a huge win too. Especially if it happens before the May 30th deadline, which would put additional pressure on Sony.
We are also treading in waters of ruining the chances of cross platform play with this situation and that needs to be accounted for.
Good.
Exclusivity is necessary to help prevent this Bait and Switch.
OP was cooking with this one lmao good job.
@@bugbug6342 Unfortunately, crossplay is likely to die in this fight. Fornite "accidentally" enabled crossplay a while ago, which demonstrated that there's no technical reason to block crossplay. Most of the limitations are completely artificial. Helldivers 2 already showed you can do crossplay for months without PSN accounts. The typical reason we can't have crossplay is because companies are greedy.
Sony is likely to disable crossplay as revenge for non linked PC players pushing back against the PSN account requirement. It's stupid, but I'll take no crossplay over not requiring a PSN account. It's likely that you'll still be able to do crossplay if you link your PSN account. If Sony wants to make their game a worse game because of whatever profit motivations they have, that's on them. I'll stay away from their future products, and farm my war bonds the long way.

Personally I don’t think they will back down. Sony want their games on PC, but they also want us on PSN.
It’s just sad the best game in years is being used as their shield to force it through.
imo if microsoft can get away with it, i bet sony can too
they'll just ride it out. sure they'll lose some players. some will be unable to play because of PSN, others will uninstall on principle, but the game is too popular to completely die.
depressing af
Whatever their argument for it, the fact that they release the game on Steam without limiting the region only to those who can actually create PSN account made their whole point moot. If its mandatory then why don't they also restrict the Steam release to reflects it? Why did they change their stance on PSN account requirement for PC just before the announcement?
Don't be dumb, you're not dumb. You are a living breathing human being, don't just resign to be an added number for PSN account, so that Sony can happily report it to their stakeholder.

There is no point currently as it falls outside of the default steam refund policy. Unless the developer contacts their steam rep otherwise, it won't get approved.

you guys are so odd for wanting to get someone fired so badly
@@qxvzh He's uninformed, incompetent and gets into his feelings about everything. If that doesn't tell you he's unfit to be Community Manager, I don't know what other evidence you need.
Shame people havent read his following messages, they dont get the whole picture
100% Agree you can't be a cm if this is the way you act, period. This kind of action from a community manager shows they don't have the skills required to do the job. Everybody knows gamers are passionate about their games and get upset easily so when something like this happens there is always going to be backlash. As a community manager it's your job to defuse the situation or keep your mouth shut so you don't make it worse. Spitz obviously can't keep their mouth shut when they are in their feels so they need to be removed from an area of access to customers, however I don't think they need to be removed from the company they just obviously can't be allowed to communicate with customers or they are going to cause losses to sales.
@@sergeytq You mean the posts where he backpedals on everything because he clearly got reprimanded by his superiors behind the scenes? You think that makes this better? If anything, it shows how he'll run his mouth without looking things up and gets carried away easily, literally the worst qualities you can have as a CM. Stop trying to defend this glorified discord mod.
"Oh but Steam has these kinds of issues as well". Correct, but if it's an issue on the one place I want, why would I make it worse by making it 2 places? You didn't pull a "gotcha" on me, you affirmed me.
As somebody who's suffering identity theft, absolutely not.
if it was for safety of PS players then disable my cross play if i dont sign up. i have been happy with high level pc randoms. they go straight for objectives and pick up samples all while not saying anything and spamming hugs.
I have a feeling the compromise is going to be PSN is optional but having a PSN link gives you an exclusive armor.
That would've been a better path to go than the current.
Never in my life have I seen a company with monopoly compromise with what customers want. They give you what they want to give you. If there's a huge backlash, they erase the whole product. Then later they say, "you rejected cancer A, so it's your own fault you don't have anything".
Exclusive armor with an instakick behind it, lol.
Honestly that would be most understandable, I wouldn’t even care!
I was on the fence of getting a ps5 too, never touching a sony product again after this
I was really hoping to hear you weigh in on this Dough. Glad to see you did, this is one of the best vids I've seen on it so far.
Isn’t this technically ransom ware? The people are holding the game hostage, like pay us by a certain time or we break your toes.
If I saw those reviews I wouldnt buy the game. I wouldnt even look into why I'd just buy something else. I hope this gets sorted and gets back to at least Very Positive or its really going to hurt the game long term.
They can revert that as long as they apologize and remove the PSN requirement completely, also add at the ToS that they can't add this EVER again.
The Stellar Blade tldr is they promised no censorship for anyone then had a day 1 patch that immediately censored outfits and gore.
So much damage already done because Sony F’d up
It’s too late to remove 100k reviews from steam. No going back on that anymore
Welp, got the last few achievements I needed, took a screen shot for something to look back to and requested a refund. My buddy overseas wont be able to play with me anymore so RIP. Helldivers 2 is a solid game for what it is with how the game industry is nowadays, unfortunate for what's happening.
The costume change weren’t even in any advertisement, and they weren’t even the revealing ones 🤦🏾♂️
I really agree with the setting a precedent bit. This kind of crap has been happening more and more often now, and they just keep pushing it.
Stellar Blade wasn't just outfits getting toned down, it was also heavy censorship of graffiti and reduced gore.
Reduced gore yes
With graffity it wasn't a heavy censorship. They just changed one asset into another because, even devs admitted it was an accident and they did it in the original version as well, was a heavy slur.
So with graffity its not an argument

I got banned for 3 on PSN. Someone with the same IP address as my router was "hacking" so they banned everyone using the IP. I'm no network admin but doesn't it make a lot more sense to ban the mac address? JS...I shouldn't have to fight against something I didn't do because you don't know how to IT.
I never got reimbursed for the months of PS Plus I already paid for and didn't get to use. I was so close to never picking up the sticks again.
No because the MAC address is the physical address of the physical device. Only your ISP requires the MAC address and that's so they can ASSIGN your IP.
Nobody aside from you or your ISP will know the MAC address and MACs are generally useless for most networking aside from physical topography since the IP in IP address is literally 'Internet Protocol'.
As an actual Tech guy, better your IP then your MAC. IPs can at least be changed if things go sideways. If a MAC issue goes sideways, that's generally a defective device and you need to replace the whole modem/router.
@@graveyardshift6691u know that u can change Mac address of router, right?
@graveyardshift6691 I had just assumed that Sony was able to keep track of each playstation on their network and could isolate problems that way since they were banning my account. Routers share IPs so it seems a bit unfair to everyone else who gets banned based on one person. Thanks for enlightening me, I had no idea that they didn't have access to MAC addresses.
@@Dldavis1530 Indeed. In fact banning an IP is actually better then banning a MAC.
If they ban your MAC, they're banning your modem/router so if someone who's device ISN'T banned comes over and tries to use your network, it will block them.
How IP works is that there's a general IP assigned to the modem/router and then there's a sub-address that changes the last digit in the sequence depending on the number of devices. So while your modem/router is xxx.xx.xxx.0. Your PC would be xxx.xx.xxx.1 and your playstation would be xxx.xx.xxx.2. By only banning the PS IP, they get your console without bricking your entire network.
And if they brick your network well... not even SONY wants to challenge an ISP in court over THAT.
(This only applies to IPV4. IPV6 is a WHOLE other beast.)
Because of risks and complications, it's even FAR better for Sony to just attach a unique ID to your account and ban that per game rather than run the risk of bricking your entire console. Even the least consumer friendly courts would be willing to fry Sony over THAT.
Sony wants your business. They want you to buy consoles and games. In the end it's how they stay solvent. If they start bricking your physical devices, that's a fast way for them to get dissolved as a company.
Funny thing, I was considering buying a ps5 because my laptop struggles to run the game, I'm glad I didn't give this a-holes a single penny.
your system should be able to run the game fine. They did not deserve your money in the first place because their coding and file optimizing is garbage, thats why it wont run on your system
@DoIoannToKnow sony is the problem. They must have a lot of wolf of wallstreet wannabe on their board.
The most stupidest thing is even you link account, there is no cross-save/progress function.
It could be so easy.
Make it optional and exclude us from crossplay if we don't link and give those who do a goody (a cloak f.e.)
Remember David Manning? If Sony conjured a fake critic to make positive reviews of their films, odds are it has a Discord account or two in the Helldivers Discord to keep tabs.
Also; an entertainment 'network' has absolutely no business keeping an ID on file. Did not know about this. Thanx for the heads-up!
I don't care about corpos collecting and exchanging my datas like Pokemon cards, because in the end it will only result in annoying but mostly harmless ads. What I care more is hackers entering in PS servers as easily as your neighborhood grocery store to steal user's datas and then selling them to actual scammers (or worst) and risking being victim of scams or identity theft shenanigans.
Last night at like 2am it was well over 120k negative reviews.
The biggest way to affect them RIGHT NOW is to leave a negative review on HD2 and to request a refund. Steam is currently fulfilling refund requests regardless of playtime as long as you explain to them that its because of this current situation.
Standing up for the rights of others is one of the most important aspects of a functioning democracy, so winning against sony would be a nice meta-narrative on top of preventing all the bad repercussions of this change.
noones mentioned the kernel level anti cheat.if sony gets breached again they hace access to EVERY FILE on your pc snd all your data
I left a negative review just to put a dent in them. Hopefully they change the decision. If not, oh well. I didn’t really care but I might as well help
I got a ban for saying playing against a nasty composition in League of Legends was "cancer" a few months back. Wasn't even in all chat and was to my own team. It wasn't directed at anyone and it was just expressing that it felt bad to play against. The censorship of stuff is really getting out of hand everywhere.
i got banned on facebook for talking about potatoes, it seems we live in a dystopian nanny state, where people can say awful things if they are politicians but us gamers just get fucked
Just saw on Reddit someone with 97 hours got their game refunded on Steam. Pretty cool, hope they continue to do this for those who can't play the game anymore if/when this is implemented.
You have to give them your ID To make a psn account? Well i already wasnt going to make one, but even more reason not to make one especially since they get hacked every other week. If they dont roll it back, then im hanging up my cape and going back to civilian life on superearth.
I think it depends on the country, but that's just ridiculous, SK asks for this stupidity i don't want it here in Japan.
@@Tamachii12 oh okay, still stupid haha. hope japan doesnt have to, guess we just have to stay optimistic
Linking your PSN account enables crossplay. Thats all youre gettjng out of it.
You already have crossplay without it though....
wrong, no account link here, on 195 hours playtime, and playing with pc and ps players alike just fine without it.
Just stop playing until they start respecting the players and back pedal
PC players like me are fueled by energy drinks, less than 4 hours of sleep, and pure, unadulterated spite. I will never back down. I will never have a PSN account for those corporate gremlins.
So are you going to start playing Palworld again?
Probably not
Arrowhead CMs have straight up been telling people to leave bad reviews to help give them more pull with Sony. Problem is I don’t think Sony gives a damn
They have also been taunting the players complaining about the psn requirement.
i'd like to see some proof of them telling consumers to leave bad reviews. like aethen said, i don't believe that kind of behaviour comes from the same group that openly attacked their consumers for not agreeing with their god-awful balancing ideas.
Yeah, you gotta hurt Sony financially and statistically to make them give a damn.
I've supported Arrowhead for a long time, but I don't think this was their intention. They are in it for the money, just like any company. Spitz is just a bad community manager, this isn't the first time Spitz has angered the community, the job is to literally keep hate off the company, not provoke the community. I let the railgun shit slide because frankly it did need a nerf to incentives players to try out other options.
I like Helldivers 2 quite a lot. I will miss it. I’m in the US and could easily make the account and be done with it.
A better course of action I feel is to band together and fight this tyranny, especially for our brother and sister Divers that are barred by location.
Sony, you may never read this, but you’ve GOT to see how harmful this is. The HD community is amazing, and I hope we all vote with our reviews and our wallets.
For Democracy!
The steam community discussions are going insane
Went from GOTY to “oh it has mixed rating, it’s probably not worth it”
Not enough.
Needs to be “OVERWHELMING NEGATIVE” reviews by the end of next week.

This is going to negatively affect Steam if they don't step up and deal with it.
I already started to hate the braindead balancing of "nerf anything players enjoy" of helldivers 2. Devs with skillissue screaming at players because they voiced their opinion about the braindead balance while not implimenting rudimentary bugfixes (because the devs can't code the said fixes). I am now enjoying the house of cards crumbling with a bucket of popcorn and a nice smile on my face.

Sony cought changing their statement to suit their narrative.
Major Order: "Give Sony a steaming cup of Liber-Tea!" Message received, AH. Sending reinforcements.
I have a PSN account from my PS4 days, so it's not a big deal for me to sign into it or whatever. But linking it to steam? No. Valve earned my Steam data, not Sony. And to protect who from what? All to protect useless teammates who get kicked, and to make hosts scared to kick? How do I have 600 hours and I've NEVER been kicked once we drop in mission? I'm useful enough to keep around, that's how.
I've never really had trouble with other players. Once or twice I was killed unnecessarily, but I can just leave and host my own game if I cared that much. This PSN account is no benefit to me.
Wait I’m confused.
As a console player, am I obligated to have a steam account just to play Helldivers 2 or what?
@@justaguyonyoutube4592 No. I (a current steam user) will be forced to have PSN account connected. If you're on PS5 this doesn't effect you at all. Sure I have a PSN account that I haven't used in like 2 years, but now I have to link it with steam. Don't wanna
Imagine if they gave anyone who linked their accounts 1000 super credits. How many people would sign up? And make it optional. Instead they take the “do this or you can’t play” path. Then I don’t think anyone would have a problem. At least not a big problem. It would be a long term advantage for Sony vs a short term goal.

What people don't understand is that Sony is a Japanese company. Their views on how to deal with their subsidiary game studios, customer relations, hierarchy etc. are all very different from those of the vast majority of the people playing Helldivers. They are also stupidly stubborn and more likely to double down than to change their position.
They aren't for a long time since they moved their HQ to Commiefornia.
Good.
Sony will be sued and lose millions over this in damages.
The hammer will be brought down and lessons taught.
They are just another company it doesn't matter where they come from money controls their decisions. If they lose money because of this they are gonna revert it overnight.
I don't understand the point you're trying to make. So it all good to just let it slide because "they don't know better"?
they are almost konami level of stupid
I don't even know if I linked my account or not, I don't even know if you can see the extra accounts you link on Steam or not, I tried looking in the settings, but I couldn't find it.
Nah PSN wanting a photo id is wild asf 💀💀💀
Never getting that from me. Are they high?
sounds like there is a Sweet Baby agent in Sony
You say you are not one to say "woke this woke that", and I respect that. But these people are EXACTLY the ones responsible for censoring stuff like "ur mom" and "toxic masculinity" like typing "gg ez". There are leaked seminars where they cover exactly that type of stuff. These people worm themselves into these companies as HR or "community managers" and actively despise gaming culture. Maybe I've just become hypersensitized over the years, but sadly you can't approach them with compromise or good faith like I used to. If you give them an inch, they will take a mile and most people at the top are not even aware of their company being slowly burned to the ground from below since they are so out of touch.
Sony changed the definition of that as fast Fauci changed the definition of gain of function..
Worth mentioning that apparently some people got the game refunded despite having way more than 2h playtime which means more refunds could easily happen. If they don't back down on these changes they will literally loose money because of it
