      I've had ppl wanting it nerf since it made Helldive way to winnable lol. I think in Discord they are arguing Dominator should be nerfed too since it is over performing compares to all the other primary right now. NUTS

      It's absolutely wild how there's so many indie devs and even some AAA that test their game or have been seen playing it here and there, and then there's AH, who barely play their game, let alone with anyone over time.
      Makes me wonder if they hate their own game so much, that would explain the constant focus on nerfing and making the game harder each time and less fun.

      After playing Warframe for basically a decade now, that's exactly what happened. When Steve was in charge, he publicly stated that he disliked Warframe players, and he didn't play the game beyond balance testing. He said we were all babies complaining about energy and healthy economy, until he started a new account and played on a stream, complaining himself about how awful energy/health drops were before you unlocked super late game equipment that solved those problems. Then suddenly, energy/health drops were increased.
      That pattern kept going for a long time. For years, even. With community outcry over things like "universal vacuum", "buff weapon swapping speed", and a dozen other problems that made the game unfun to play, and earned tons of player complaints. Basically every single major open world update released with an insane economy problem, requiring dozens of hours of grinding to unlock the basics, and hundreds and hundreds of hours to grind to unlock most of the equipment, with incredibly boring farms for each individual resource.
      But then, Rebecca took over as the lead game designer for Warframe, and suddenly, basically every single one of those issues disappeared. Reb, who once said the immortal quote "memes are an important part of our community", actually plays the game she is responsible for maintaining. Once she took over as lead designer, she listened to the community feedback about problematic areas of Warframe, and started fixing them, because she understood where the criticism was coming from.
      The helldivers 2 developers openly admitted that they're the problem at 12:58. They said their goal is to make primary weapons feel horrible. I guess I'm not buying any new warbonds until they reverse course, because it's a waste of time/money to unlock warbonds if all the weapons are useless. That's just facts.

      See, this could be 'fixed' if they added a bonus side objective that removes mission modifiers on the rest of the campaign. Blitz missions as a main objective should increase enemy reinforcement time by 50% if completed, for example. Heck, liberate 4 SEAF artilleries on one map and use it on the other 2.

      I DESPERATELY want to use Obital Precision Strike, but every single bug planet right now has a bunch of these modifiers, so I have to just bring aimbot 110mm or railcannon strike.

      ​@@leonardorossi998 you aren't supposed to prefer stratagems to support weapons, you are supposed to use them to complement each other's weaknesses. Or your teammates are meant to cover your weaknesses.
      My primary and support cant take on tanks head on... but my airstrike sure can!
      Strategem Jammer? More like "Priority Target".
      You aren't supposed to be able to solo an entire battlefield head on with just a railgun+eruptor at max difficulty.

If you nerf a weapon and it is never used again by anyone then you have wasted money on creating it and everyones time putting it in the game. What is the point of getting levels and warbonds? I feel like everytime I earn the right to get stronger as a diver they nerf it. Why are we paying for warbonds and spending time to unlock things that have no purpose. I'm already carrying the game in every match why make me work harder and harder each time I choose to play it. You spend 10 hours playing to unlock something thats worse then what you already have so you never use it. Does that make sense?

      If I could add 1000 more likes to this statement right here, I would in a heartbeat. I’m not a sweaty, I know my place, I’ve beaten Helldives before but I stay on 4-6 for the fun times. That’s all but gone with the continuing fucked up baLaNcE patches. I used to play every day for hours because I was a fan of the gameplay loop and at least some guns were fun, but I started noticing patterns a month or so ago along the lines of “new gun out, new gun fun, new gun nerfed, newer gun out, newer gun fun, newer gun nerfed.” It just sucks because I wanted nothing more than to love this game, but I haven’t been able to bring myself to even turn it on because of all the fun sucking they’re doing to it.

      It's messed up at a conceptual level. It both deals less damage AND has absolutely massive spread, so what little damage there is is harder to leverage.
      And if you just want it to deal with masses of smaller targets by spraying in their general direction, the Incendiary is pretty much objectively better at that, and I don't think there's much they could do to change this.
      Poor thing could use a total rework so it can actually have it's own identity. I would say give it a slight damage boost, a tighter spread, basically no recoil, and double the fire rate.
      So this way you have the basic breaker for dealing bursts of high damage or dealing with squishy mediums if fired in semi, the incendiary for efficiently dealing with a wide variety of enemies at the cost of not killing them instantly, and the S&P for mowing down waves of squishy targets and killing agile/flying targets with accuracy by volume.

      Ya know what makes it even better? They nerfed breaker, made it feel and be worse overall, the breaker spray and pray just feels like crap in general. Then they decided to buff the breaker incendiary and its both better than the pre nerf breaker and just a better spray and pray even without the fire damage.

      As someone who uses the spray and pray religiously, it actually takes about 2. And if you're shooting at a group like you should be, you'll be killing 2 hunters and 4 scavengers at the same time. Pair it with a gaurd dog and it'll soften targets in the swarm and keep guys away from nibbling at your ankles. With that build I'm pretty much the anti-swarm build.
      Stack on some heavy armor for a little extra protection, and pair a support weapon of your choosing (I prefer EA-Ts for taking out heavies), and you have a very good build build for marching into the swarms.

      @@DeusMachina_EXE I can't help but feel like this describes a scenario which doesn't work in the actual game.
      For one, why would you ever wear heavy armor against the terminids?
      Even with the slight headshot protection buff, you will die in two headshots and one normal tap. Hunters can throw that out as a single combo which interrupts stim, and it only gets worse if you're actually "marching into swarms" where you can be attacked by multiple enemies (Such as warriors/Hive guards, who will headshot you even more consistently because of their attack angles). Especially if you're running a guard dog instead of a shield pack.
      You'd be infinitely better off just watching your spacing instead. At which point you might as well just use the incendiary.

      @@BackwardsPancake yeah, and despite all that. In every game that I'm in using that build, I'm the one holding back swarms. I personally pair the rest with the EMP grenades and revolver. To have my back if I need some bigger bugs down/need a little breathing room. But I've ran that build in helldive and still come out ontop. The teams I usually play that build with like it because that allows them to focus down the chargers/bile titans without worrying about most of the swarm nipping at their heels.
      And having practiced a lot you learn a sort of rhythm to it all. It definitely takes some practice, and you need to be aware to find the biggest blobs quickly despite being blind from blood spurts all the time. Lol. But it's really really good in the anti-swarm department.

      They want us to use stratagems but every high difficulty modifier is one that reduces stratagem usage or effectiveness, cooldowns are double or more from HD1 and stratagems have limited uses. It makes no sense.

      I think they want most weapons to be around the level of the AC, Flamethrower and Heavy MG because those weapons are exceptionally effective yet have not gotten any nerfs. (AC wrecks bots, Flamethrower and HMG wreck any bugs smaller than BTs)

      Its already bin confirmed multiple times that they don't play the live build. The first thing community notices is that the in game preview of the SPEAR isn't how it works when you get it at all. As well as a few times there were vids of interviews with the devs playing the game at the same time and they were making really odd mistakes for people that "KNOW" everything about the game.

      i mean helldive is not suppose to be able to cleared by everyone so yea its a get gud issue your not suppose to clear helldive everytime your suppose to die often and lose often even good players, this is the problem modern gamers dont want challenge they want games to hand them wins and call it fun being brainless. this guy literally thinks shooting a charger leg is the fastest way to take out a charger BAHAHAHA yea breaking the armor first good idea, how about just get better aim and not hit armor and not have to take it out or i dont know maybe blow its head off in one shot with other weapons. if you run a team all running the same gear YOU SHOULD LOSE THE GAME, they are steadily trying to show you all this is a TEAM GAME, but you all steadily want to be able to run off solo without your team and just walk through enemies no leave your team and you should die 90% of the time.

      People dont want to win each time and to have level 9 = level 1.
      They want fun while being hard.
      As an exemple, Waframe a game I used to play has only fun guns, but the game get hard an you get clapped, but never you are thinking it is the gun that is wrong.
      I myself lost a lot with the railgun while having fun in the begining. But the gun was fun and so the though was i was bad. Now it isnt that i am bad or good, it is the gun that is kicking my balls not the bugs and bots...

      They have only meaningfully nerfed a weapon from one war bond quickly. The Eruptor. Out of all other weapons from other war bonds that got nerfed they were not nearly as quick to drop the nerf hammer.
      I don't agree with some nerfs they've done but a single weapon shouldn't be a meaningful enough sample size to try and pretend it always happens it will always happens.

    I don’t understand why every shooter game lately has this weird approach to gun design. With COD and games like it, it’s “we always need a meta gun”, and then you have games like Helldivers that say “we don’t want a meta” so they’ll just nerf everything into the dirt that’s getting used by more than 1,000 people. What happened to the god-like philosophy of Titanfall where if everything is powerful then nothing is overpowered?

      Precisely, I'm so sick of this mentality that "oh shit, everyone is using this weapon. Guess it's time to make it nigh unplayable now."
      Why not just make EVERYTHING ELSE match the strength of that weapon? In a world where everything is OP, then nothing will be OP. It brings everything back to being viable and useful, not this half-assed bandaid solution of gutting weapons and throwing them away so players are FORCED into using other weapons.

      If a weapon is good, it could allow players to get through the grind faster and we can't have that in a modern game. That's really it. Modern games want to keep you on the treadmill so you have to play more and are more likely to buy microtransactions.

    Fun fact about the breaker, CEO on twitter before it was nerfed said that the Breaker didn't increase win-rates. It only increased kill counts. The breaker nerf was even unwarranted because the stats showed it wasn't out-performing. It was just a fun weapon to use and play with so much so that people wanted to kill more enemies-- likely even if it costed them victory because they were wasting reinforcements.

      ​@shadowninja8011 that was also before the nerf to chargers heads which allowed them to be oneshot which would have completely shook up the support weapon meta.
      Not to mention sickle is still and was amazing, and a slew of other weapons were good or are good if not better now.
      Back then people had way less weapons unlocked alongside the weapons that are good or decent now were bad or outright not in the game.

If it was so stale then you didn’t have to use it. Who cares what other people use. If they like certain weapons then they can use them.

      Personally I'm a fan of the Liberator. I mostly play automatons with the AMR and in this context, it's a solid primary weapon for the fodder enemies. So is the SMG, but I like the scope on the Liberator.

      @@kalkkar this, the sickle is just awesome. Accurate, great damage when bursted, and infinite ammo if you have decent trigger control. And the only nerf it saw is one I thought it needed since release (since a gun that encourages not letting it overheat had almost as much ammo as the liberator anyway when you just magdumped... now overheating is something far more worth the effort of avoiding)
      cant say about incendiary breaker, but the dominator.... the nerf here still leaves it FAR more powerful than it was on release (it used to do only 200 damage), and even back then it was a decent option against automatons, headcapping dominators like no other on headshots.
      overall may be me just being used to helldivers 1 where primaries were indeed NOT what you were meant to use to survive at higher difficulties (more as point defense and for mop-up duty), but I really dont mind the vast majority of the nerfs

    Arrowhead definitely employs the laziest form of balancing possible which is making the players' arsenal less effective instead of adding layers of complexity to the game which would naturally increase difficulty to counterbalance the effectiveness of the weapons.
    But no that would take effort and competence so there you go all of your weapons are now shittier.

      To be fair... Box Stacking Simulator was kinda eff'd from the get go. It USE to be a stealth game that had an evolving AI that would learn as you play. Then MatPat made ONE video about potential lore and suddenly they felt the need to pivot. Love the guy, but come on, MatPat made a theory about Sans being Ness, I REAAAAAAALY don't think you should be bending the knee to him. As he said later, make the game you want to make, they'll play it.

      Nope. I’d double down and say it needs to be a 2 minute CD or less. It is dead space for the entire time it’s on cooldown and that cuts your arsenal by a QUARTER. One call-in, a split second of firepower with NO guaranteed kill, and then it sits there doing nothing for 3 minutes. Even if it insta-killed anything it hit, that’s still a BIG ask for taking up a quarter of a resource you are supposed to “rely on to deal big damage.”

      This. There's no reason the orbital railcannon should be on such a long cooldown, when the 500kg has two charges, and a much faster recharge on top of having more charges.
      If there's no guaranteed bile titan kill, you really really need to have multiple options. Plus, the 500kg is more consistent if you're skilled at kiting the bile titans, and it also kills things in the surrounding area when you drop it.
      Basically every other orbital bombardment is in the same camp. The basic Eagle strike is just so much more powerful than any of the orbitals. They really need some huge buffs.

      @@alexlowe2054 im good at aiming 500kgs and i'd love to know what version of the game you have that has made 500kg bombs "consistent". In my experience you land it directly under a titan or even next to a Charger and you're luck to get 50% chance it actually kills it.

    Fun fact: in the railgin nerf patch they also turned up the fog. Every single planet has fog now. Yes, even on the bot front. Even the tutorial map. It's also the reason why flashlights and streetlights are so blindingly bright. It's also the reason why stalkers were visible all the time. The solution wasn't to tune the fog back down, or heaven forbid, remove the fog from most planets because NOTHING is that foggy all the time in real life. No, it was to buff stalkers.
    The game gives you scopes of 150-200 metera and you haven't been able to see that far for months.
    I have a friend who has had a visual noise issue his whole life, for him the game has been unplayable the whole time because of the increased fog.

      Slugger was a end game warbond, it took AWHILE to unlock with medals. I worked hard for it, and was satisfied when I saw decent damage, and knockback. Then they nerfed it. I absolutely hate the slugger, and this isn't the first gun I've unlocked to get nerfed a few weeks later. I get apprehensive about unlocking fun weapons because I know if they're "too fun", they get nerfed on next patch. And saying "its a skill issue" is BS.

      Happened once or twice, you just needed to hit chargers back leg in order for shrapnel to do the job. Still, it felt like ALL shrapnels hit = 1 shot. Even if last piece of shrapnel would not hit chargers belly, it would not be 1 shot. That's how it felt like when I used it.​@@Max_Ohm

      @@Elmato63639 so that's not been my experience. In over 275 collective hours. My family (on three separate PCs with different specs) have had 1 crash. All the bugs people are reporting, I personally, haven't run into.
      I've seen the weird dismorphia from enemy assets or I've fallen beneath the ground or had weird physics. But that's it.
      That's why I said IMO. If you are having the other experience and the game is almost unplayable I feel for you. That really sucks.

      @@cryptomancer2927 for sure man I appreciate your point of view. Not sure why some people have tons of issues while others don’t, as far as connection goes. I understand how it’s logical to think that it’s just issues on our end or with our personal connections but I’ve played all kinds of multiplayer games with this same group and we literally never have issues, but with helldivers, not only did we have a ton of graphical and game altering glitches, but most of our sessions would involve several crashes and disconnects. We spent hours a couple of sessions just trying to stay reliably connected to each other just to ultimately give up. I see both experiences being reported just as frequently.
      At the same time though, in my comment I was specifically talking about things that I thought were true for everyone, like how damage just doesn’t register correctly, whether it’s flame damage not working or bile titans tanking multiple shots/stratagems that should kill in one or two shots max. Some of these glitches are hard to notice but I can almost guarantee everyone is still being affected by them.

I was mining the samples, a charger appeared, I dodged it's charge so it ran into one of the high ledges/"cliff" faces, it bonked like it should, but then it kinda glitched into the wall or something, and then slid right up the completely vertical wall/cliff face to the top.

      I realized from the first week or 2 of the game that there is a LOT of idiots in this community. There's just something about co-op PVE games that just bring out the room temp IQ types. I was consistently doing helldives by about the 2nd week. I argued about the same exact issues OhDough pointed out, but way back then, and many just didn't understand it or thought i was some scrub trying to make the game easier. like, what a bunch of fuckin idiots.

    Used to be able to solo 5-6s, but an update came out, and I'm choking on 4s. Used to be able to only use the Sickle, but now I have to use the stalwart for the RPM, and if there are two chargers/titans, I have to run.
    There's just so many enemies that I can't gun them down anymore. I have to run from every fight due to the endless bot calls or bug breaches. If I wanted a strafing simulator, I'd play COD zombies.

      Same. I play solo 5-6. I can still complete the mission, but can hardly so sides/clear bases because enemy reinforcement and patrols are insane. It's not even fun anymore when I'm constantly being pressured from all sides no matter where I run.

      one of the community managers replied to a comment asking why they keep nerfing weapons after buying warbonds and they said they do it bec when adding new weapons they have to nerf the old ones to basically give you a reason to buy the new ones. Which makes kind of sense, still stupid but they want you to buy warbonds, but if the weapons are not better than what you normally use, you prob won't buy it, so they nerf the already good weapons.

      @@fire_drake12.arc.24 they certainly don't SOLO it,. i';m getting MORE SOLO KILLS than i am in the same time, on the same map, in the same mission as a 4-man same/higher/max difficulty.
      and i only solo to hit the daily, get into sample-maps (because ALL the quick-play groups are running defence missions with no samples) or just see what i can do before the patrol-changes surround me on all sides/available-paths with 4-6 devastators/hunter-packs/2-3-heavies.
      the only thing worse than having patrols spawn directly behind the player-camera (it's why they used to spawn "underneath" you the devs used your active camera-position like a modesty-screen for patrol/meteor/drop/breach-spawns or now where the devs randomly place the "patrols" 40-50 meters away from you one by one closing off EVERY exit with a pack of instant-aggro flankers.
      BTW the game/devs still spawn patrols when you are mid-combat vs drops/breaches, possibly even intensify them if you get bogged-down near an objective, because that "HEAT" mechanic sounds neat until you see non-stop enemy reinforcements on EVERY OBJECTIVE you end up in a fight near.
      The result is that unless you can 380/deathray the area remotely the enemy spawns will compound and overlap so you are getting more patrols, non-stop breaches, have the factories/holes auto-spawning some stragglers (rocket/mg/stabby troops or green-meanies/prawns/hunters) AND those patrols/drops/breaches/pop-mobs/POi-defenders are roling dice to see which one gets to call in the next drop/breach and where.

      the truth is most of yall shouldnt be playing on 7-9 with these balances me and my team have zero issues taking anything out fast. the issue is your team sucks or you suck bringing your team down. we never have more than 1 titan up at once chargers are still a one shot head shot kill with quasar, i feel like most people have zero clue where to shoot targets, look at this guy he thinks fastest way to kill a charger is take out leg armor first then kill it with leg damage thats the second slowest way to kill the damn thing.

    I want to comment on 2 different Helldive difficulty missions I had in the past 2 days.
    1. 3-man Helldive. We have finished the main objective and I'm solo doing the SEAF. A patrol finds me and calls a bug breach. I killed around 80 (it was a streak) little bugs (up to Brood Commanders), 3 Chargers, and 2 Bile Titans. I get surrounded by not one but 2 patrols in the meantime. They call a second bug breach. I have 3 more Chargers and 2 more Bile Titans with a plethora of chaf chasing me around. Mind you I back out of the objective, fighting the first bug breach. I find myself cornered close to the edge of the map and start circling around to my mates at the extraction leaving the objective behind. Manage to take down all but the 2 Bile titans as my stratagems are on cooldown. In doing so I got in the paths of 2 more patrols. By the time I reach them, they have a fierce standoff with a whole army of bugs. Managed to extract and in the end, I had 1000+ kills and my mates each had 400+. We were so occupied trying to fight for our lives that we only managed to do the main objective. I literally spend 7+ minutes of running and fighting and 2 full supply drops just for me. The problem was all of the patrols messing you up.
    2. 2-man Helldive. Right off the bat we land on a patrol of bugs and get a bug breach with 10s or 20s of Bile Spewers. While dispatching all of the bugs 2 more patrols swarm us from the sides and kill us. We get in a loop of dying/reinforcing. Somehow we got out of the swarm into a patrol of Bile Spewers and 2 Chargers getting another bug breach with Bile Titans. Managed to dispatch everything and we ended up surrounded by 2 more patrols on top of us. At this point we have no more reinforcement left. This takes the first 10 minutes of the mission - non-stop fighting for your life, barely having time to run and when you run you end up in a patrol. For 15 minutes we didn't have the time to even start an objective. We managed to finish the main objective AFTER the mission time had ended and ran straight to the extraction getting in at the last seconds. The end result was 1500+ kills between both of us and barely any time to complete objectives. Again the patrols ending on top of you every 30 seconds or so makes the experience close to miserable.
    In the current state, I don't know if I want to continue playing on Helldive just for my own sanity. Before the 7th of May patch, it was fun for me to play non-4-man Helldives. Now I find it mentally draining and not fun at all.

    Thank you for saying this. The arc thrower nerf pissed me off. They nerfed the railgun due to the ps5 bug. So players went to the arc thrower. They nerfed that because we were having too much fun with it. Then they nerfed the eruptor. It makes no sense.

    It's apparently unintended that the eruptor, which explodes into shrapnel, deals more damage to larger creatures due to more shrapnel hitting the target.
    There's oversight, and then there's sheer incompetence. Is the balance team also surprised by the fact that a shotgun can hit a target with multiple pellets?

      Not to mention Turret can't close bug holes, can't destroy building, target random enemies that they can't kill, long ass cool down and get destroyed if 3 bugs hit on them once.
      And they're useless against bots. Can't even penetrate medium armor except autocanon-turret and the useless rocket turret which don't even function half of the time.Then one rocket bot could single-handed kill all of your turrets even if they're on high ground.
      Oh there're more, Mortar sentry is a friendly-fire disaster, EMS only good for defense mission and only brain-deads use Tesla tower.
      If you think being able to put turret on high ground would create "tUrreT meTa", you're an idiot.

    For a game trying to avoid a meta, it's failing hard. I love using multiple weapons and changing strategy all the time, but i cannot justify bringing 90% of the primaries and stratagems to a diff 9 mission. Sure they are viable, but they are so much worse i dont have fun, i feel like im dragging down the team and wasting time

    Ever since they changed the patrol spawns the amount of fun I was having has dropped below half. Enemies are numerous and neverending and my strategems can only do so much when I'm being attacked from every side. Honestly, with how Sony and Arrowhead have handled the game over the past two weeks I want to take a hiatus until they get things right.

      THANK YOU! Seriously, I'm in the same fucking boat. Before the patrol patch, I could solo up to medium with absolutely no troubles. That's not to say it wasn't tough, I was still having to play smart and still having to be sneaky and all that, but it was completely doable for me. Now? Me and my buddy got absolutely butt fucked last night on CHALLENGING DIFFICULTY. We were fighting bots, and I swear to God there was tanks and cannon towers at almost every outpost, and the patrols had us constantly and consistently flanked from every direction. We couldn't fucking breathe, we were literally forced to just go find some randoms online to play with.
      I do not enjoy being forced to play a specific way, I don't give a single shit if it's a co-op game. Sometimes I don't have 3 other available friends. Sometimes I just want to grind materials solo. But nope, Arrowhead has completely just slapped us in the face over the sin of not having friends.

      @@thetalonking7233 Yeah, the change comes off as if they don't want anyone to solo or have any type of fun doing it. I primarily solo bugs on 6-8 difficulty and I couldn't imagine doing bots solo on those difficulties on current patch. What also sucks is that side objectives like points of interest, SEAF artillery, and stalker nests are punishing to even take on thanks to the sheer number of patrols. And that's also hurt my sample and super credit farm in the long-term.

    yeah i feel the same way. yesterday i joined a helldive game with a full team. mission completed, super samples extracted. I died 0 times.
    Go to solo play to test out the new warbond stuff on diff 4. Died 5 times within 5 minutes and couldn't complete a single objective. 2 patrols that spawned in 4 bug breaches, 2 stalkers showed up, 3 chargers all on my spawn. Found out i had to deal with not 1 stalker lair but two right next to each other.

    Never seen devs be so pretentious about balancing, throwing slogans around `` A game for everyone is a game for one one``, yeah true, except that a game for no one is also a game for no one, or is it just for the small minority that will literally lick the dirt of their boots no matter what they do. And whilst being so pretentious they shoehorn this game into a meta and tell us at the same time the nerfs are to move away from the meta... like what? You know its bad when people DREAD upcoming patches, you know its bad when they basically reverted the nerf to the railgun because they were too triggerhappy with the initial nerf in the first place, also the fact that this Alexis guy was behind the demise of hello neighbor 2 explains a lot, just like most of the CM's except twinbeard who is nice, were discord and reddit mods explains a lot, a PVE game with no leaderboard, and they pick apart guns that community finds fun instead of fixing guns the community does not use, that is fucking mental and completely contradicts their message of not wanting a meta when we are clearly being pushed to use certain loadouts and playstyles especially with the ridiculous mission modifiers. Also saying its literally your job description does not imply you are doing your job, A LOT of people really dislike the balance changes which implicitly means they dont think the balance team is doing a good job. Almost no one thinks they are trying to make the game less fun on purpose, you are just no that good at figuring out what makes this game fun for most people.... Also, remember when they nerfed the breaker, they said that apparently in spite of it being the most popular gun, it did not have the highest mission complete rate, I wonder why? maybe... because it felt good to use in comparison with most of the other stuff, maybe it was picked not because it was op but because it was, and hear me out here, FUN. But no instead of making other shit viable atm they just nerfed it. THEY SAID IT THEMSELVES IT DID NOT HAVE A HIGHEST MISSION COMPLETE RATE, BUT IT WAS FUN, which is why it was picked and they gutted it, fucking genius ! GENIUS I SAY!

      i can feel the frustration. it shows that they aren't very good at discernment and a lot of what they do is contradicting. idk much about this alexus guy or hello neighbor 2, but from where im sitting, he looks like an assassinator of games. that right there-> "most popular... (but) not having the highest win rate" means, despite having stats that tell them it doesn't overperform that much and doesn't win games, they still nerfed it cuz of popularity ONLY. is what their (or is it his) philosophy is. if everyone used the scythe, even tho its still not that good after the buff, i bet it'll still get nerfed and worse than how it started off.

      It really wasn’t the greatest option considering that it was ok for ads mid to long range but shit short range and it didn’t have enough armor pen to bring down the really big guys, so u had to bring something that can clear ads close range or bring something for the really big guys

      It was effective as specific scenario's still it had:
      Low velocity, poor weapon handling, low rate of fire, very slow reload.
      A lot of negatives. If you werent careful you would be overwhelmed by bugs and that weapon wouldn't save you. Also it was bad against shriekers. So it had it good specific uses but some good amount of negatives aswell.
      It was in THE perfect spot. Kudos to make such a well designed weapon on release. But they done FKED it up now. with 4 NERFS to the weapon making it not a viable weapon anymore. Only a utility weapon to break nests/factories
      I bet now they are going to remove the tech to rapid fire it. "Because that was never intended, even though it was fun" - AH balance dev probably.

    The biggest frustration is most support weapons, stratagems are actually close to being really usable.
    - Recoiless's ONLY flaw is how team reload works. If any player could help you reload it would be an instant S tier option with a communicative team.
    - HMG: just needs more ammo in its mag and its sights aligned. Somehow its only adjustment was a nerf?
    - HMG turret: just needs its turn radius increased with modules like the rest of the turrets.
    - Basic MG turret just needs its cooldown dropped from 180 to 120-150
    - Railgun needs more structural damage against bots, and a damage boost at 90% enough to make a difference that encourages risk/reward.
    - Smoke does need some serious reworking. Lace that s$%t with bug pheromones and electronic chaff so it messes with pathing and targeting way more, and have more consistent coverage.
    - Arc thrower: did not need its range reduced. You can talk about the quasar nerf all we want, but booooy is it tough to get 5-6 headshots on a charger at sub 35m on helldive, and it still only tickles a bile titan.
    - EMS strike: needs a cooldown reduction and the ability to stun large/tall targets like factoryWalkers/titans/towers/tanks.
    -110mm rocket: just needs 1-2 extra rockets so it hits more consistently, and to stop prioritizing replicator factories over turret towers.
    I could go on, but maaaaaan so many options that are SOOOOOOO close to being awesome.

    I know I am 11 hours late but an additional piece of info on the SG-8 Punisher Plasma, the blast radius of plasma can take out a scout strider in one hit if the blast reaches the operator.
    My favorite, the R-36 Eruptor, the ability to take down the scout striders in one hit from blast radius like the punisher plasma, however one is semiautomatic while the other is a bolt action, one is a arced plasma ball while the other is a rocket/jet assisted shell. Both stun however one is better to use at CQC while the other is better and mid to far ranges. One can take out fabricators and bug holes while the other doesn’t.

      It honestly feels like I've been gaslit into thinking this game was a fun third person horde shooter with Starship Troopers trapping, but instead it's a wannabe Souls-like shooter.
      Also feels like it's schizo inducing with how the devs tell you something in public, but then stealth nerf/buff shit behind the scenes. This is like the one dev studio that constantly stealth updates their game, without outright telling you, and it's god damn annoying and not "cool", like ppl thought it was during the first month of release.

      Some stratagems can be buffed easily, like mines stratagems can have 2 call ins with separate cd. The efforts we do to get the Destroyer upgrades, only to get abysmal results. I'm sure they have a spreadsheet of stratagem usage, but instead of buffing the least used ones, they drag down the popular ones.

      All artillery needs their cooldowns massively reduced. They’re so unreliable (ESPECIALLY the 120 and 380, EVEN with the cluster improvement from ship modules) that outside of the railcannon for an infrequent emergency AT option, I still cannot justify running any of them for more than one mission.

    yeah the devs seem to have lost their way. They want us to use more strategems, yet most are on a 2-4 minute cool down, with other strategems like support weapons being on a 5+ minute cool down.
    then when you take into account some of these modifiers, like stratagems completely missing the target, or strategem cooldown/call in time increased by 50%.

    I do not understand why they are trying to balance this game like a competitive shooter. If something is powerful it’s because the other options aren’t ever other weapon in the game is hot garbage until they kept buffing them. Their approach should be why is this weapon being used so much instead of this weapon IS being used to much let’s nerf it. Like yes nerfing a weapon is suddenly going to make the worse options better.

      They buffed the AMR to the point where it replaced the nerfed railgun. Then they fixed the sight. Soon they will make it like the rail gun because now everyone is using it instead and that’s “not fair” to the railgun so they will make both trash (after buffing the AMR) lol

    Alexus (lead balance designer for Helldivers 2), has a history of making horrible changes that nobody asked for and then quitting once the game starts to fail. He started off with Hello Neighbor 2 - a game that completely failed due to horrible changes made throughout development. Here's a small story about his bad history with game balance/design:
    "Alexus Kravchenko was the former lead game designer of Hello Neighbor 2. Working his way up from level designer of the unreleased Alpha 2, to the lead designer of the Beta and full release, he left the team right before the game came out. He removed the game's open world aspects as he said "No one would want to walk around an open world", and instead used a map labelled as a 'testmap' in the files for the full game.     I think balancing the quasar by making the aiming time longer makes more sense than just making cooldowm needlessly long. Quasar takes the most time and skill to aim, EAT has a small delay after pulling it out before you can fire, recoiless rifle can shoot instantly so you can switch to it and dome a titan instantly.

      This is exactly what I think as well. The main design point of the gun, both in strengths and weaknesses, leads back to the charging- why not emphasize that instead of just punishing players with an extra bit of boredom in the playstyle?

    It says a lot about the state of this game's balance that one of the most exciting patches for me so far was the recent one that fixed the DoT bug simply because I can now use gas strike and flame weapons without it being a 25% gamble that they'll even work at all. I *want* to use a variety of different weapons. Nerf defenders say "stop whining your crutch got nerfed, learn and adapt," without realizing I would love nothing more than to feel like I can pick a different loadout every match without handicapping myself.

    Just check Operatordrewski video, when he played with devs.
    TLDR: Wiped on difficulty 6 against bugs. Objective type was Destroy Eggs.
    Extracted 2/4 on difficulty 6 against bots, with no reinforcements left. Objective type was Upload Data.
    Do I need to say more...

      the sickle now has 3 in reserve, the redeemer has 6
      both still allow me to sometimes need 2 to reload it once

    damn i been saying it since the beginning and people call me crazy that they been stealth upping the difficulty while cutting off any weapon that actually evens the playing field at the knees. They've been doing it constantly rather than bringing up the garbage to be useful

    The game is being balanced to be +5% Positive Expectancy around 50/50% +/- Expectancy. This game popped off because it was FUN for enabling the feeling of having a very big stick in the face of overwhelming odds / enemies. AH is balancing for smaller and smaller sticks to obtain balance when people just want to have fun.

    One of my FAVORITE lines from the patch notes. Bruh: That mission type already ENDED A WEEK AGO before the patch went live!!!!!
    And they WASTED time on this! Serious time! Instead of working on actual broken crap *cough, HMG sight alignment, just to name a single one, cough*, they spent time making it so you can't land up high on a limited time mission. A mission we will never see again (unless they really go to shit and start recycling the TCS content).
    Just dumb. Priorities as straight as a circle.

      It isn't a hard fix, literally just add the deployment blocker box on top of the building model.
      If you remember when there was a bug where it showed you the red boxes in the defense mission, it's literally just a couple of simple map edits

      I don't know why it was a priority to fix though. I mean, this is a PvE game.... So there's an opportunity to make a level easier.... Why is that a big deal? It was actually quite fun to feel like you found a hack and could be a god killing a bunch of enemies. And if you thought that was you cheating, then you could just jump off and fight normally. It didn't even save significant time - just made it easy .... and fun.
      I'll tell you what's not fun: landing on a bile titan and not being able to actually play the level because your clipped below the ground and can't get out of your hellpod. Or playing for 35 minutes, having super samples, and then the game crashing and there's no way to rejoin the last session you were just in.
      I don't know if I agree with all the comments in the video, but I definitely agree the game is getting less fun.

      No, this is not the proper mindset. Power-creep is real and is a problem, to avoid. Teammates matter, you don't want a situation where people fight with their teammates to have a chance of interaction in battles. I experienced that in Darktide for a brief time. You do NOT want that.

    Yeah quasar is insane. That 15s dance between 3 chargers and 2 titans is literally the best part of the gameplay. But hey you can take down shrieker's nest in 1.5min

      Yeaaa I feel ya. I stopped using it cause of that. Playing freeze tag with chargers and titans. Recoilless rifle paired with stun grenade is my go to. I can get at most 2-3 shots before the Quasar can get a second shot (including charge up time to shoot). And ammo is not really a problem since the stratagem upgrade to restock all ammo to full +ammo on POI’s

      When I see a shrieker nest, I often run RR on bugs now anyway, I often drop the backpack on the ground to let teammates TR me. It feels so nice sniping those trees from 300-400m two shots each, just enough to go out of ammo. But the QC... I think people used it took much in the past. That said its cooldown nerf is kind of disgusting.

    To anwser Alexus comment about weapon "butchering"
    -Never got the chance to try the Railgun when it was good, tried it once right after, never tried again. But hey, not butchered, just so bad at the time I felt no need to give it a 2nd chance.
    -Tried slugger once after nerfs, havent even concidered using it since. Used it semi regularly before that, especialy against bots.
    -Sickle is still the same gun, still effective against the stuff it was good at before, it just runs out of ammo all the f*ing time now. Not "butchered", but deffinitely not FUN because one of your teammates ate 3/4 resupply packs cause he brought the grenade pistol and the other 2 shot eachother fighting for the one thats left. But hey, atleast I got half my ammo back and all it cost me were 2 "organic resupplies". You know theres a problem when your team has a joke for using reinforcements as a resupply mechanic... and no, I didnt shoot them, they clearly shot eachother in the back with a sickle stop asking questions.
    -Quasar is, and never was "insane". What it was, however, was a gun that had (and still has) ZERO ammo problems AND you can move while reloading. Or more precisely you can move while it reloads itself on your back. And it allows for a backpack slot. Its counterparts either eat a backpack slot, have a 500 year reload time AND hog your groups entire resupply OR are really finnicky to use and by god you had best pray to whatever higher power you believe in the game doesnt spawn more than 1 Bile Titan per minute (hint: IT DOES).
    So yeah, OhDough aint the only one that thinks theres a problem with the constant nerfing... Im sorry "buffing" wink wink nudge nuge

      i'll be honest, the if you run out of ammo on the sickle all the time you need to learn how to use it and let it cool down. i don't use it much but even when i played it on difficulty 7 i didnt need to resupply more than maybe two times for it. just remember you can let it cooldown instead of reloading.

      @@gando5572 It starts running out of ammo when its your only chaff clear against bugs and you brought a Quasar and Grenade pistol. Which is arguably a build/setup problem and not something wrong with the gun. But of the 4 its deffinitely the one thats still pretty much fine. You run uncomfortably low on ammo, but not out. I mostly just wanted a reason to make the organic reload joke and to move nicely into Quasars competition having ammo issues.

    They could do SO much to make the game better. One thing is to make the newer HMG have a belt fed backpack, so then you dont reload and its just one big mag before needing to resupply.
    Make Quesar have the same cool down but do more damage. Make it a alternate to the Spear rather than fight against the recoilless. Spear autolocks and has team reload, quasar gets self aim but gets a recharge, while both weapons are able to one shot biles.

    The quasar cannon cooldown should be affected by hot and cold planets. Then it can be great on cold planets, mid normally, and terrible on hot planets. That would encourage build variety based on the planet you’re on. Everybody wins.

    I feel you man. I have 300+ hours in this game, and using the same loadout is boring. I've tried using different loadouts multiple times. And im basically screwed when i dont have 500kg and railcannon to help deal with the 4 biletitans, 5 chargers and 2 patrols i have to deal with at the same time on helldive. Its not fun when this is every game.

      Same thing here. I've tried multiple times to differentiate from my favorite (one of meta variants) loadout only to be disappointed by the lack of performance. I'd like to play as a mashinegunner, for example, but every time I play as one, I have a constant feeling of "I could've been more effective at this situation"

    Reading the statement about the eruptor being "absolutely viable" made me realize that I should step away from the game, potentially for good. The devs and I simply don't see eye to eye on what is and isn't fun, simple as... I hope it changes and gets better, but with the current track record, I highly doubt it tbh

      I sometimes think they are unintentionally clueless. There were alot of bugs the team wasn't even aware about that nerfed weapons like DOT damage and AMR scope they just hate primary weapons for some reason. And the railgun.

    Bro, the only people playing the final dev "vision of this game" will be the devs as the players will move on. This game is a shadow of its former self on release which was a fun game I fell in love with. The beauty of this game is watching bugs and robots get shredded by guns and bullets without being over run by 30 bile spewers. The idea that we are to use strategems is nonsense as shiny lights from the sky on 2 min cooldowns just don't cut it.

    Yesterday we had to deal 20+ titans. There are those that spawn in a distance and slowly comes towards where we are and 2/3 comes out from bug breach. Automaton side there are waves of berzeker. AH balance weapon (which didnt do a great job at it) but nothing is done on enemy.

    For me, it's the lack of vision through the player's eyes. MANY helldivers are using quasar cannon not because its broken but that it's CONVIENIENT. Sometime players don't want to think and just play the game ESPECIALLY at the casual level. Looking at the pick rate for quasar isn't indicative that it's overpowered it's because people just want a support they can pull out and use and don't want to worry about ammo, reload cancellation, and just run a shield pack.
    Alexus doesn't understand that not everyone is trying to farm helldives and just want to play diif 6-7 and hang out with friends. It's crazy to me that nerfing support weapons is more important on the agenda then patching a infinite grenade glitch that has EXISTED SINCE LAUNCH! It's sad to see devs that fall out of touch with their own game.

      I invited my friend to a level 7 Automation command bunker mission. He had an autocannon and some good armor. After getting bombarded for first 5 minutes, he raged quit. I felt sorry because I thought going to suicide missions was too difficult for him. It was not, it was too difficult for anyone who did not spent 200 hours in the game to figure what the best meta build was. (I had walking barrage, AMR, shield, and eagle airstrike, but I still get owned constantly. The reason I did not rage quit these missions is because I'm just used to ducking, hiding, running away, and just don't mind dying in general (as long as it's not dying 5 times in a row). My friend, however, just did not have that much time and wanted to have fun. Too bad I could only do level 4 missions at max now with my friends as to not spook them.

      The Quasar was convinient BECAUSE it was overpowered.
      It was convinient because there were none of the downsides of the othe rocket launchers while having even more upsides.
      I'm quite baffled how you managed to wiggle 'infinite ammo' and 'no backpack used' as if they were some simple gameplay conviniences and not a huge gameplay advantage.
      Yes players are going to like an overpowerd weapon if they are after convinience because that's exactly what an overpowerd weapon does it gives far more than it should and eases things notably on the player's end.

      Easy fix for the Quasar: just have the recoilless be reloadable if the USER is wearing the backpack. All anyone has to do is run up and press “E.” That’s it. No extra gimmick, no swapping packs, no nothing. The teamwork is still there, the original user isn’t left high and dry if someone runs off with their ammo, and there is MAJOR incentive for someone to now run up and assist a recoilless user because it costs them nothing except a few seconds of shooting their own gun.

      same goes for the incendiary grenades, only stratagems got the buff to the fire damage, nades are just collecting dust in ther armory,
      but at the very least for the blitzer you can argue it doesn't arc between targets
