    hi
    so, how you ended up with rear shocks housing ? you bought new? w

  • @gianfrancoa
    @gianfrancoa Год назад +3

    This has happened to us at one point time, so don't take it to hard on you. I'm surprised that the lower shock bolt on the rear wasn't seized to the bushing, being a 10 year old ON car

    • @ETMotorsports
      @ETMotorsports  Год назад

      Oh jeez - that's all I'd need back there - more seized bolts 🤣

    • @gianfrancoa
      @gianfrancoa Год назад

      @@ETMotorsports haha. I had to cut one on shock bushing, so had to get a diablo blade to cut it.
      Then the aligment guy couldn't align the rear as the adjustment cam bolt were seized.
      I had to cut the mid controls arm and get new cam bolts as well. And we in AB don't use that much salt

    • @ETMotorsports
      @ETMotorsports  Год назад

      @gianfrancoa damn... yeah while I was scratching my head to figure out why the heights were off somebody suggested undoing all control arms to let the car settle in the new height so I went ahead and undid all control arm bolts - they weren't exactly happy about it so I was just hoping I don't shear one somewhere hard to reach... but the long bolts on top of the spring housings were a disaster...I really feel like manufacturers need to consider where their cars are sold and maybe apply antiseize but obviously they don't care much beyond the warranty period...

      @@ETMotorsports exactly 100%. I slather bolts with antisize whem I do any kind of suspension work.
      In addition I've been testing several undercoating waxes, to prevent corrosion. I'd recommend you to look into that as well

      @gianfrancoa it's awesome when people understand the pain of salt living...had a guy in Florida ring to explain to me I have no idea what I'm doing trying to get a pinch bolt off a B7 front hub carrier that was basically welded in place... he goes pfft - these come off without issues clearly you have no experience...

    I've had both my rear springs break and I too decided to install H&R springs. After install, I had a vibration on the passenger rear side. Thought it was a blown strut because of oil I found on the strut so I replaced. Again the vibration was there. Switched my winter wheels and had new tires installed and vibration is still there. I love and hate this car 🤦‍♂

      @@Yeah_Buoy haha well said I love and hate this thing!! I just finished a full rear suspension to try and deal with a very annoying alignment and shimmy issue... hopefully finally done wth it - I must have aligned the car 5 times

    Very good video, thanks for sharing. Looking at a very clean 2012 Touareg VR6 Highline with 130 000 km, here in Montreal. How much would would you say is a fair price?

      Hmm they've gone down quite a bit - I've had this one for sale for 14k for months... I'd say no more than 15-16k

      @@ETMotorsports Ok, thanks. If you don't mind, I have a few other questions. Did you end up replacing the rear shock upper mounts? Your thoughts on the ECS x-pipe? Not droning too much? And also, your general appreciation of ownership of this car?

    Are the front struts identical or do you have to buy separate (right , Left) struts?

      Leave your cats - won't gain anyone by removing them... any exhaust shop can get new flex pipes in there or you can do full exhaust too
