Maybe you guys did it but just didn't show it, but go ahead and bleed the crap out of the brake fluid too. VW/Audi recommends doing it as often as every two years and you can bet your secondhand car has not had that done. It should really change the pedal feel if its vague or squishy at all. If nothing else its a good compliment to the $$$ brake setup and will ensure you're getting everything out of it. If you go the powerbleeder route... good luck finding the right cap adapter for the reservoir!

I have a 2014 Touareg. I recently changed the brakes and was surprised to find them only 50% worn. The wear indicator light had come up on the dash and all wear indicators were worn and broke on changing the pads, even though I was really careful. I'm debating on whether or not to replace them, or just to short them out. I wasn't aware that there was a brake disc upgrade. That would be something to consider next time I change the brakes, but I haven't found them to be a problem. Thanks for the video.

I must be the only human that likes wheel bolts. I think it’s awesome because if you wanna run aftermarket wheels with a lower offset, you can go purchase longer wheel bolts and you’re done. When you wanna throw your stock wheels back on, just use the original bolts
With you wanna run a lower offset wheel and you have wheel studs, you gotta disassemble the brake system and beat the old studs out. Then install new longer one and assemble everything back. Then you want to put your oem wheels back on for winter and you got these massive studs sticking out looking all mad max like.

    • @logmegadeth72
      @logmegadeth72 5 лет назад +1

No, it's not just you. I don't get why they bitch and moan about wheel bolts all the time. I guess they never heard of wheel hangers... in fact I'm pretty sure Touaregs come with them in the spare tire tool kit. Thread it in, slide the wheel on and then remove before installing the last wheel bolt. Easy peasy.

I prefer the OEM “premium” Rotors on my Passat solely because my wife and I drive infrequently and we both have a problem with the rotors rotting after only one winter. The dealer told me they do not sell many but I prefer the plated coating especially on the fronts because of corrosion staring in the cooling fins and moving to the rest of the rotor. They are twice as durable due to the fact they are plated in our app. I find the OEM stuff to be very good but do realize you are selling your frequently used product and are into performance. On the subject of ride harshness. The 20” tires on the Toureg are a known bug for many. Going down a rim size and up a profile size to maintain oem diameter will smooth out that ride at the price of turn in roll on that higher sidewall profile. I won’t buy a Toureg with 20” rims for that reason because of that known issue. But then I’m an old fart but not ready to drive a Buick yet but close!

i got tired of replacing OEM brakes/pads every 50k kms and having black brake dust constantly coating my Touareg wheels. So i went with after market discs and ceramic pads. no dust, poor pedal feel and longer braking distance as compared to OEM. they feel like they are so hard they will last a long time. despite dirty wheels and more frequent replacement, better braking has me leaning towards OEM next time. A word on tires- serious All Terrain Tires, such as Nitto Grapplers, feel more truck like and keep my winters and summer tires in the garage. Bought the Nittos after a friend with Nittos ran circles around me on snow and ice, with my Michelin X-Ice winters. Stiff sidewalls and a little less fuel economy but great for year round use.

Etiquette in the left lane vs bandits staying in the fast lane and driving slowly:
#1 you just approach like you mean business, with a high delta they should notice you and pull to the right and let you pass.
Lingering there (tailgating) is not a good idea for an extended period of time this is a message not a way of driving
#2 if they do not notice you flash very briefly just to say hi, I am here, maybe you did not notice me
#2 nice gesture follow-up: if they let you pass flash 4way amber indicators once saying thank you
#3 if they still stay then flash them longer / repeatedly, conveying annoyance
#3 nice gesture: if they let you pass flash 4way amber indicators once saying thank you - defuse the situation
you just wanted to pass and eventually they did let you no need not to confuse them with kindness now
#4 if they still do not let you pass, pass them on the right and be on your way
#4 optional: as you pass them honk briefly to express your disdain for the danger they put everyone in with their driving
there is no point in thanking them as they did not let you pass on the left safely, they forced you into two unnecessary moves
What to watch for: if they have someone lame in front of them, if they are stuck passing multiple trucks, if they would not have space to pull to the right then there is no point in doing any of this if they cannot do a better job physically then they just cannot do a better job let them be
What else to watch for: general driving behavior, maybe catch a glimpse of who they are maybe they are older people, etc you want to be kind if there is a reason for them driving less dynamically. If would be nice if they did that slow driving on the right so flashing is ok, honking can be skipped.
Additional rule: you cannot be angry at someone driving slowly on the right. That is where they should be doing that maybe they have cargo maybe they have something broken in the vehicle does not matter if they are limping in the slow lane that is good that is where they need to do that stuff. Appreciate it that they are in the right lane for that. If you are stuck behind them in the slow lane, well, get into the fast lane and pass.
What to avoid: don't overtake on the right and then pull in front and brake. You do not want to brake test someone who has already extensively proven bad driving skills to you. Let them be. You passed them you can go now. If they do not understand the short honk, the problem they caused, then that is the end of the story. You are not their driver's educator, you are not the police, you should not do this. You are actually creating more danger on the road. There was a slow car in the fast lane now there is an even slower car in the fast lane. Also, this can get personal it can develop into a road rage incident etc etc. DON'T DO IT. Just ... don't. Not worth it. Passed them, let it go. They are someone else's problem now. They are behind you. You are free to go.

I think flashing and holding the horn on the driver in front of you hogging the left lane is much much safer and smarter than tailgating a likely inattentive/unaware driver. If a deafening vW horn or blinding high beams doesn’t get them to wake up and move it’s a lost cause

I don't know who manufactures the Brembo stuff sold in the States/Canada but I have to say their products sold in Europe have had quite a bad reputation for the last couple years. Even the genuine Brembo products sourced through certified dealers are riddled with common defects and so they're on the avoid at all costs list of most car enthusiasts I've come across. It could be entirely different overseas but I personally lost faith in the company. I'd choose StopTech or EBC over them any time.
