    This is a knife Spyderco should bring back. I hate when quality working tools are relegated to safe queens because of rarity. Mayve they change a couple small details and call it the Bowie 2, so collectors can keep their valuable item different. I just think quality tools should always be available to buy.

    I got one of these when they came out, and it’s been EDC since release. They are pushing $1000 asking price now. I use mine, have sharpened it, it’s gets worked, hard. CTS XHP is perfect for this knife, still holding up like day one.

    I just spent a RIDICULOUS amount of Aussie dollars on a new example of this knife on eBay. I can’t wait to unbox this grail.
    Everything thing I’ve got from Taichung has been SUPER impressive so far…

    Great review. The Kizer T1 has a similar profile and is much more fairly priced. The T1 is a great knife as well - beautiful simplicity and incredible action.

    I just picked up the Knife Joy exclusive CC version in blue titanium for $500 on the 2nd hand market. I think its a steal at that price these days and I'm happy to have it in my collection.

    Like the blade shape on the Bowie a lot. Price is what deterred me. I was expecting more criticism from you, but always nice to see a change of heart when you finally get a hold of it. That is how I felt about Spyderco at first .. nah.. then I used my friends and was like oh I see. Hope they make it again or a second version. Nice review

    I bought mine on the secondary market late last year for north of $400 and I don't regret it. I am a Spyderco enthusiast and I wanted it for that reason. Now that I see what it is going for today, I think I got a deal. Oh, and I love the knife. It's awesome.

    Great review. Whenever I see that knife, I think Nick Shabazz's love child. You can tell how he talks about it, that he loves that knife. Being discontinued, puts it basically beyond my reach. I'm not paying secondary market prices for one of those.

    Ok this knife was one of the first review knifes I’ve seen year back by shabazz . I’m guessing we all have. This knife has always bugged me. It’s a great start - is what I see when I see this. It’s like a primed car or an all white Harley it’s missing color the textured handle etc..- you where spot on- but it’s missing so much more. Am I going to buy this for 400 or more bucks - no not before I spend that on approx 2 dozen other awesome knifes. CRK - umnumzaan for example how about a Hinderer or 50% down on a Koenig - so many great knife companies Brian brown all day- spyderco Slyz Bowie again you where spot in 250 bucks possibly how was this 400 retail 600 average price now robbery - great video as usual

    This knife was discontinued due to very slow and poor sales. That will probably guarantee it never comes back. Too bad though. I love the look of its simple lines and design.

    I do like the Spydie Chef and Techno. The Bouwie sound amazing. I wonder if there is a design language that will translate into the Swayback. Considering pre ordering it.

    Imagine if they brought it back with T8, the orange peel texturing on the scales, an inset, and with an M4 blade, which they used for the Advocate, or M390. I missed this last time around due to complacency. I wouldn't miss a second run with those upgrades.

    you're coming from the point of an edc/knife user and reviewer where as a chef would definitely appreciate the qualities of a knife like the spydiechef more than the slyze bowie, granted i've hand eked neither the spydiechef nor the slyze bowie so i'm essentially talking out of my ass but i can see the fundamental differences in the two designs and what each was meant for. i'm not saying you're wrong or anything but they're different knives for different people😂

    I had one of these.
    Completely HATED it. Most over hyped knife in existence.
    Jimping didn't line up with my thumb position.
    Contouring at the top of the scale made it dig into my palm because the titanium was thinner.
    The wire pocket clip was a cheap choice that wore on the scale.
    Was a bit thick behind the edge from factory.
    Mirror stonewashing was beautiful but made me scared to use it.
    I ended up trading it for a Microtech HALO VI signature series and I'm glad I did.
    Edit: I'd highly recommend the Spartan Harsey Folder over this Slyzs Bowie

    • @TheBigToe69
      @TheBigToe69 4 года назад +1

      Anthony Campos The Spartan is almost twice as much as this was. This is a video about liking this particular knife. If you’re not a fan then move on rather than hate on it and recommend knives hundreds of dollars more.

    • @anthonycampos7417
      @anthonycampos7417 4 года назад

      @@TheBigToe69 they also came out years apart. Now you can get a Spartan Harsey Folder new for less than you can get a Slyzs Bowie used.
      So that point is moot.
      Also being a voice of decent doesn't make me a hater. It helps anyone who may be considering purchasing this knife get a better more well rounded image instead of the 1000s of glowing comments of people who've heard from the grapevine about how good it is.
      I don't know about you but I prefer to hear the about the pros AND the cons when I purchase something to help make a well rounded decision.
      But hey any negativity on the internet must be from a no life hater with nothing better to do huh.

    I have listened to Nick and some others over the years about what a superb knife this is. Unfortunately it had been discontinued when I started collecting knives. The thing I just can’t wrap my head around is why? Why...why...why? Did Spyderco stop production of a knife that was so popular and still is? There must be a whole lot about the knife industry that I just don’t understand. From what I’ve seen...Spyderco has many knives have become a regular production knife...for example the SpydieChef, or the Para 2 and 3, among others. I just don’t get it. Can anyone help me?

    • @TheBigToe69
      @TheBigToe69 4 года назад +2

      Mick Keim Except it was discontinued due to poor sales. It must not have been as popular as we all want it to be.

    I really only like the blade, and the action. Blade is amazing in many ways, crowned spine, stone mirrorwashed XHP. The handle had a too small of a grip area thanks to that protruding bit of the scale on the butt of the knife, so it was uncomfortable for me. Also the cheapass looking g10 backspacer? Pfft. Need to make a refined Slysz Bowie 2 for me.

      Ian Sharpe It’s beauty lies in the simplicity of its lines. Very symmetrical and pleasant to the eye in my opinion. Plus, I’ve always hated the way the spidey hole looked on most of Spydercos knives like the Pm2, Pm3, Military etc.. It looks perfect on the Slysz Bowie.
