Another awesome video. Got a question for you do you ever have any regret buying the zircuti scales for the shaman? I love zircuti and would love to do that to my pm2 with dlc coated s90v blade but man those scales are so freaking expensive. Is the quality of the zircuti there to justify the price.

The Manix 2 is my favorite Spyderco, the ball bearing lock is genius design that in my opinion just feels more positive than crossbar/axis locks style locks, I put flytanium ti cages in my standard G10 and lightweight which is unnecessary but elevates the whole feel, great knives.

Axis locks or Axis style locks break way to easily then the ball lock. I have the Manix 2. Will change the ball cage and scales to copper. Only Benchmade knives I want someday is the freak or mini freak & the Osborne with the green scales. Otherwise Benchmade knives are way to pricey for the springs to break from fidgeting or over time of usage.

I put AWT scales on my Manix 2 and what a difference. For me, it went from a knife that I wasn't sure I would keep to my favorite knife. I also upgraded the internals to a ceramic ball bearing and a spring that is a bit easier to use.

    Yay!! Spyderco video!!
I agree with the Para 3 being number one ❤ it’s so good it’s the only knife model I have multiples of; I have one lightweight, one s45vn g10 and one DLT cruwear and purple g10.
One of the things I love about it is how customisable they are, all three of mine are decked out in custom scales, clips etc. the lightweight has AWT aluminium scales on it which only increase the weight by .1 of an ounce and make it feel so much more premium (but I actually really liked the way they did the FRN on the Para LW), my s45vn Para has AWT aluminium scales which actually reduce the weight via a liner delete and a black MXG clip and then the cruwear one has purple haze fat carbon with a bronze lynch clip

@ yeah the LW with the AWT scales is just a better deal IMO if you do intend on getting scales for it already. I would recommend getting a lynch (or similar) wire clip replacement because the wire clip tends to move under your grip which wears a hole in the cerakote under the clip, whereas the lynch clip is a lot more stable

First off, love your channel, funny you should say that about the material, is it for everyone, no, but I picked one up at a flea market along with a Benchmade Bedlam, at an ABSOLUTELY INSANE price of $175 ,,,FOR BOTH. Mine WAS the matriarch 2 the serrated version, was because I lost it dang it, but it was one of my hard use knives at work, cutting thick plastic straps, rope, boxes. My wife bought me a Spyderco spydeyshark though pretty much the same blade with serrations and now replaced the matriarch, it's a great knife but the H1 steel the edge doesn't last near as long as the VG10. I use to not be able to stand serrated knives till my matriarch and with the claw shape of the blade it doesn't slip off or out of anything. Also people check pawn shops as I've acquired several higher dollar knives for less than half price, one of my latest was a Spyderco Civilian for $80 , it was probably used once from the two scratches on the tip of the blade plus in that use they snapped off about a 1/16th to an 1/8th inch of the tip which was easily fixed, for that price I don't mind slight damage, got a Spyderco Szabo for like around $125, check the price if you can find one on one of those now. Anyways, thanks for your awesome channel stay safe and God bless.

I have most of this list. Haven't purchase any recently as they have become $$$. Currently my most used Spyderco is my Manix 2 - can tackle almost any task. A bit bulky but offset is great ergos. Still have my first Spyderco - a Tenacious. Still going strong after 10 years - although blades shows signs of repeated sharpening! Sharp blades all.

Okay. Yeah. Speaking as a lefty, I too find the compression lock easy to manipulate and disengage. I appreciate that most Spyderco (some are less so than others) are largely designed to be ambi. And I appreciate their average price point. My problem though is that, thanks largely to learning more about the knife world through your channel MC, I’m ready to move up into midtech and premium production (and eventually custom). Which is where the lack of conscientious design for lefties becomes a serious sticking point. I have no problem realizing the rationale behind the pricing in the midtech, semi custom, and custom markets. But I do have personally a big problem with the notion of plunking down $800-a few $k on a knife that isn’t fully accessible to me based upon my handedness. I (and I can only assume by extension many other prospective customers) would love it if more manus/designers were a bit more accommodating to lefties.

First of all, I love your videos, watch them all the time. Well,,, I'm the bigger knife fan, got my eyes on the Yojumbo and the Native Chief. I have a few ànd about half are from pawn shops, you can get absolutely AMAZING deals, recently bought a Civilian for $80 had about 1/6" of the tip broke off, didn't care, barely used other than that, I just ground the tip back to a point and resharpened it, barely noticeable. Get this, bought a Matriarch and a Benchmade Bedlam at a flea market, pakage deal for $175. Have unfortunately lost the Matriarch, one of my most used knives at the time for cutting thick hard plastic straps at work and various other tasks, it was the serrated without the wave. Since have been replaced by the Spyderhawk H1 serrated my wife bought me. Have the Manix 2 XL she bought me also, it's my second one, gave the first one to a friend and I bought that one at a flea market for a CRAZY $50 brand new in the box. Guys, check these places out and regularly, especially pawn shops with bigger hunting departments in them. Bought a Szabo for like I think $125-150 purely for investment as though it's a bigger blade but not a huge fan of it and I believe they're around $400-550 I've seen now since being discontinued and gave it to my oldest son, an Endura 4 not the flat grind version plain blade for $50 had one small nick 18" from the tip, regrind and resharpen, wouldn't know it if you didn't know, and a Chinook 3 a few year ago for $120 prety much brand new, resold it to a friend taht had to sell his once and regreted it. I use to couldn't stand Spydercos because they all pretty much looked the same, a leaf shaped blade with a hole in,BUT,,, when I bought my first one the Manix 2 XL at the flea market and got to messing with it I WAS HOOKED LOL. IF it's still there the next time I go to this one pawn shop it has another Manix 2 XL, last time I checked it was $80 but can probably get it cheaper I'm snagging it, practically new. Knives are an ADDICTIVE HOBBY LoL. At these prices WHO CARES ABOUT THE WARRANTY, but they'd probably maybe honor it anyway. Look around guys, be patient and look pretty regular, and you'll find ridiculous deals. Stay safe and God bless.

When the sides are exposed it looks so much cleaner and neater, when the carbon fibre is inset there isn't a real difference. The ZT0562CF has a solid slab of carbon fibre sitting on top of the frame with the edges exposed and it looks terrible. Just cheap and nasty. Hell. My go to yard carry is an assisted with a liner lock.
My usual night out knife doesn't even have my preferred deployment method(reverse/spyder flick).
For work and crunch time? I prefer not those.

That's why I like waiting for sprint runs cause I think it's a better deal. I got the DLT Exclusive Para 3 in 20CV for just $150 and I consider that a heck of a steal and a way better option than the standard.

I bought the S90V Para 3 lightweight and swapped out the teal scales with the AWT aluminum ones and replaced the wire clip with a Lynch clip. There’s nothing functionally wrong with the factory scales, I’m just not a fan of teal. I love the knife so much I got one for my dad for Father’s Day this year. I’ll wait to see if he likes the scales before I swap the ones on his.

    • @Spthomas47

Had my Smock for several months now and is hands down my favorite edc.
Blade shape/geometry is fantastic for my normal use and a head turner for people around me.
Deployment is a smooth breeze, but hey, it's a SpyderCo.
The finger forward grip has amazing stability and control both edge away/towards(thumb forward).
That button actuated liner lock though... gah it's so easy to use even with the second detent in place.
I can have this knife out of my back pocket, make several slices and have it back in my pocket before some people notice I've taken it out. Which frees up my hand again to continue the task.
At work that's, not critical, but crucial for efficiency and often safety.
I've thought about ordering another one just so it can stay in my pocket when making other scales, but I'll just make a couple sets of templates lol
      Whoops. Sorry for the novella.
