I always love the scene where Bucky tries punching Spiderman and then spiderman just catches it.
Bucky ends up being shocked by the event and I think its for 3 reasons, normally his punches are strong enough that they shouldnt just be caught so easily, and as soon as his punch was caught so nonchalantly he hears spiderman say “woah you have metal arm?” And realizes hes fighting against kid, not only that but the same kid was strong enough to catch his punch and be relaxed enough to throw banter in the middle of a fight between superheroes. This movie is truly incredible and I cant wait for the rest of the marvel reactions😭❤️‍🔥

Martin Freeman will return, and they make good use of his comedic timing; I will be very surprised if you don't appreciate it.

This film is arguably the most profound and thought-provoking of all the Marvel films.
The ethical and moral dilemmas of being "superheroes" and the responsibilities involved can be debated for hours.
Should superheroes do as they please, wherever they please, destroy whatever they want, without anyone's permission? NO!
Should superheroes be fully controlled by politicians and governments, who may be corrupt? NO!
Tony Stark and Steve Rogers were both right AND wrong regarding their freedoms and responsibilities.
They were both prideful and self-righteous. They let their egos destroy their friendship as well as the Avengers team.
With great power comes great responsibility. HUBRIS can and will destroy a superhero faster than any villain.

    • @Caseytify
      @Caseytify Год назад +3

Except the Avengers weren't doing "what they pleased." Most of the damage shown was due to evil actors. The main exception is Segovia, which is 100% on Tony, because he created Ultron. So in a way Tony's sense of guilt is proper.
Can't see where Steve was ever prideful or self-righteous, or Tony for matter. He had reason to feel guilty about Segovia, and he's still suffering from PTSD from New York. Steve's choice was illuminated by Carol's words at Peggy's funeral; no, _you_ move.

    • @Stogie2112
      @Stogie2112 Год назад +6

The Avengers twice went into Sokovia and wreaked havoc. SHIELD saw itself as above the Law by building Project Insight, and they were almost defeated by HYDRA. Great carnage unsued. In “Civil War”, the Avengers laid waste to Lagos, and then they wiped out an airport in Berlin. Not once did any of them ask permission from a sovereign nation or the United Nations.

    • @1215298
      @1215298 Год назад +7

      @@Caseytify
Because he wasn't willing to compromise, period: Steve said it himself. What if the Avengers want to go somewhere, and they get told no? From their perspective, they'd be 100% correct to disobey that order. But in real life, would you really want an international and non-government organisation with superhumans like the Hulk and Vision to operate unilaterally and without oversight? And specifically led by someone who says openly that having said oversight is "surrendering the right to choose"?
He may be morally correct because its fiction, but that sort of attitude in real life is terrifying: just because Steve is moral does not mean everyone around him is. Wanda, Scott Lang and so on are all criminals to some degree, even openly willing to kill in Wanda's case from Ultron. Even if there was some kind of oversight whilst remaining independent, Steve was never going to listen to them if he truly believed he was right. Which is exactly what he criticised Tony for. He's a paragon of virtue, but still hypocritical because he is human, which is what makes him a compelling character.

I understand Tony’s conflict at seeing his parents’ murder, but I’m surprised at his blanket blame of Bucky. Tony used to make weapons so he more than any other should understand it is not the gun’s fault. A gun can’t tell the difference between a tin can or a 6 year old. It’s the person who aimed and fired the gun’s fault. It’s the person who gave access to the gun. It’s the person who made the gun. Bucky didn’t choose to fire the gun, he was the gun. He had no choice. He had no free will and is actually making the decision to go back into cryo rather than take the chance of being used again. And it’s especially sad because he didn’t want to get involved with any of this, he just wanted to eat some freaking plums!

You can see why MCU movies do have a lot of rewatchability value. There is so much packed into many of the movies.
Peter Parker's reason really meant he could have been on Cap's side. What he did for Tony was add a person to his team who could restrain members of Team Cap. Tony didn't want to hurt anyone on Team Cap.
The planning that went into this movie looked at so many details. They looked at each hero's beliefs and how they would align between Team Iron Man and Team Cap. They also wanted to make sure that the teams were balanced so it was as even a fight as possible.

the great thing about this film is the growth on Tony and Steve..you thought Tony will be the 1st to reject the accords right? that is if he's still the Tony from Iron Man 1..but Avengers came, Iron Man 3 came, Age of Ultron came..so felt more responsible thru the his experiences..same with Cap..if he still the Steve from Cap America 1, he will accept it because he is a straight-soldier..but Avengers and CA2 Winter Soldier came, and he felt
like being under the govts authority or any authority is very prone to being compromised just like what happend w/ Shield..and yes, they both have good points..
with your point of they are still people..that's where Ross point comes in when he ask Cap if they know where Hulk and Thor are..those are also just human forms..no suits..but they are pretty dangerous if something triggered them that might endanger civilians..
you will know that its a great movie if you cant choose which side you'll be on..because you understand both sides..
this movie is actually loosely-based on a Marvel comics storyline, Civil War with Cap vs Tony also..the premise of the conflict there is different from this one..
with the Spiderman films..they are Marvel, but not Disney-owned Marvel Studios..the rights for the spiderman is owned by Sony..so Tobey's trilogy and Andrew garfield's 2 amazing spiderman films are both owned by Sony and they are not MCU..Disney just made a deal with Sony to have the character be shared on both studios..thats why spiderman is here..the Tom's spiderman movies are Marvel Studios and Sony produced..anyways, you have to watch the 2 amazing spiderman films..its important in the future..hehe..

The serum given to Bucky by HYDRA was almost identical to the one Steve Rogers received. Zola reverse-engineered it from the Red Skull's blood (remember he was Dr Erskine's first serum recipient). However, the forumla was lost when Dr Erskine was killed and many organizations attempted to recreate the super-soldier serum over the years/decades since WW2. The serum Bucky retrieved from the car trunk in 1991 and given to the other Winter Soldiers was one that Howard Stark helped develop. And don't forget that General Ross (now Secretary of State Ross) had a two-part serum that he administered to Emil Blonsky/Abomination in the Hulk movie. In any event, all of the derivative serums have similar effects to the original, but are slightly less effective and/or have negative side-effects.

This was actually the movie in the MCU that caused me to go back through and watch every MCU movie, and commit to the future MCU movies. I had seen a select few, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Avengers, Age of Ultron… as good as those movies are, I never really fully “got” exactly what they were trying to build. I didn’t perceive it as an ongoing story/universe.
Civil War absolutely blew my mind. A complex story, a balancing of this many characters EFFECTIVELY without it feeling too crowded, with the action we all know and love. I went back through and watched everything because of this movie, so well done.
The one point I want to make to all of the people who agreed with the accords being signed, is that even TONY himself did not agree with himself by the end of this movie, and acted without government authorization. By the end of this, Natasha, Tony, and Black Panther all changed sides to go against the accords, and for good reason. Spider-Man’s motivation he laid out to Stark when they met suggests he wouldn’t agree to the accords, and Vision is obviously conflicted. Only Rhodes stayed agreeing with signing the accords.
If you agree with the accords, than you disagree with every time the avengers have acted in the past, or in the FUTURE of the MCU, simply because the actions were not approved by a government panel. At that rate, forget saving the world! Gotta wait for political debate and agreement!

I don't necessarily agree with the Accords, but I do agree with Tony trying to be proactive with them so as to get at least some say or leverage. The Accords were coming whether the Avengers agreed to them or not. If Thanos hadn't come along, it would have been almost impossible for the Avengers to do much because the world would have been against them.

    • @gurgashmire

@@mechanomics2649 I see what you’re trying to say, but if the world would have been against them to that degree, I don’t see why the world tried for the accords to begin with. Clearly the world leaders believed they needed the avengers at some level, otherwise they would have just sought to disband them altogether. There was always going to be another threat. Even a threat smaller than Thanos, and they would have been needing the help of the avengers, whether they signed or not.

I'm late to the party and someone has probably told you this already but Spider-Man took so long to join the MCU because of legal reasons. Marvel sold the Spider-Man movie rights to Sony in the 90's (Sony was the one who produced the 2000's and 2010's Spider-Man movies). By the time they were producing Civil War, Sony and Marvel had come to a legal agreement and Marvel was able to bring Spider-Man into the MCU. The stand-alone Spider-Man movies are still produced by Sony, but they are officially part of the MCU.
It's the same reason why we don't have the X-Men or the Fantastic Four (also Marvel characters) in the MCU. Their movie rights were owned by Fox. Disney has since bought Fox, and they already owned Marvel. So now Marvel is now free to add them to the MCU.
When you think about it, it's absolutely incredible what Disney/Marvel did with the MCU during the Infinity saga. They took characters who were basically unknown to non-comic book fans and created a huge franchise out it.
The X-Men, Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four were by far the biggest names in Marvel comics and they couldn't use them in their movies, but Marvel Studios still made it work.

In "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", Dr. Strange's name was one of the ones that Zola's algorithm identified, according to Jasper Sitwell: "You. 9:12 I love that they put this part in. Spiderman is perhaps one of the strongest Alpha level mutants in the Marvel universe. He does count as a mutant because his DNA was mutated by the spider bite, but he has a sustainable lifting strength of 15 to 20 tons (13.6 to 18.1 tonnes), a burst lifting strength of about 35 tons (31.8 tonnes), and can punch twice as hard as the Hulk (confirmed canon in the Devil's Reign: Spiderman series). Yet, because of the great power great responsibility thing, and because he has superhuman agility and control, he is holding back 99.8% of the time in the comic books and MCU.
Bucky is no slouch either, as most people that he punches with his arm are disabled or injured, and he can kill if he focuses all of his strength into a single punch. He punched full force at Spidey, and yet he catches the punch, and using maybe 15 to 20% of his strength, easily bends the arm away while commenting on how cool it was. It's a very subtle nod in the MCU to just how unbelievably strong Spiderman actually is.

All the lady does is reach for a photo, but Tony's PTSD/anxiety makes him reflexively protect himself. He's paranoid. Lost his girl, shaken to his bones by aliens, fresh from a parent-memory.... and then the tremendous guilt of the collateral cost of saving the world.

During winter soldier he learned that those organisations can't be trusted as they are vulnerable, he needs to make the decisions for himself. Tony was arrogant and cocky, he thought his shit didn't stink. The threats he dealt with in his films, stane, whiplash and killian were all made by either him or his dad, he caused the threats to appear, ultron being his greatest fuck up. He blames himself and thinks that he can't be trusted with the power he wields so he needs oversight to stop those problems he causes.

I grade the Avengers movies separate from the stand alone movies.
I will say that, for me, this felt like an Avengers 2.5 movie amd only because Thor and Bruce weren't there.
I personally think both Bruce and Thor would be on Steve's side.
I am definitely team cap. That's his best friend since childhood and also the only link he has left from his life in a different era.
Of course I don't blame Tony for being upset, but who would Steve be if he just let Tony murder him in the name of vengeance?
That would also make Tony the very example of going rouge against the accords and he would have to face murder charges of a P.O.W. war hero who was captured and experimented on.
Steve and Natasha were told by Zola that there were many S.H.I.E.L.D agents killed off, and the screen showed Howard Stark along with others.
Steve knew the Starks were murdered, but he wasn't sure until that video if it was by Bucky or some hydra agent. I don't think he asked Bucky because maybe he didn't want to feel guilty by the answer if it confirmed his fear of it because of the conflict.
The report file that Natasha gave Steve on Bucky in his second movie, may not have had all of his secret assassinations listed.
Again, I understand Tony's anger because it's freshly hot from just watching their deaths.
However, Steve knows Tony well enough that he wouldn't see Bucky as a victim too.
Steve knew that if he didn't stand between them, that Tony would indeed kill Bucky for something that wasn't his fault.
I would do the same. I also side with him on the accords.
Each movie or after credit past phase one has intros of people for a future movie.
Sometimes a callback may take years to come back around.
Ultron, and what he did to Sokovia, was absolutely Tony's fault, and he was siding with the accords because of his guilt.
When Cap dropped his shield, he became a different character named Nomad. He became a soldier without a country.
Back in the 90's Marvel comics was heading into financial ruin, so two studios came to buy the rights to certain properties of Marvel characters and Story arc.
Sony bought Spiderman, and Fox got the Xmen franchise.
Disney and Sony locked heads with negotiations because Sony won't sell his character. They had to compromise a deal that could benefit both studios.
It almost didn't happen, so Tom Holland even made a call to the execs and begged them to figure it out .
So, this is why you haven't seen him in any of these other movies.
This is his and Black Panther's tease up for their own individual movies.
The 90's Blade movies were purchased by another studio, but they are all Marvel based characters.
Watching this in the theaters got me so hyped that my nerves were on end and my body muscles were wound tight. It was badass overload and I loved it.
Remember, a lot of what you see is based off of comics. The writers and directors take certain liberties to make story arcs bridge together and make sense.
I'm glad you both enjoyed that rollercoaster ride. Lol.

Bucky and Cap have lived around 100 years. What happens if the Winter Soldier gets dementia someday? What would the world do if the Hulk had a psychotic break? So yeah, they both had good points, but ultimately I'd have to go with Tony on this one.

Steve on the other hand, was a consummate soldier, always following orders. In this movie we see how they have both gone to the other end of the spectrum. In fact with Tony, you see it at the beginning of the movie - he's talking to some college students and he's reading off a teleprompter. He would have never done that before.
