Fun fact: After this movie was released, they retroconned a scene from Iron Man 2 to include Peter Parker. During the finale, Stark is fighting all of the drones at the Stark Expo when one of them stops and aims at a young kid wearing an Iron Man helmet. Stark swoops in and saves the day before thanking the kid and flying off. That kis is Peter Parker. That's just something they did after the fact, but it is canon in the MCU.

So about this movie, No Spoilers!!!!!
Kevin Feige, the Head of Marvel Department at Disney Studios did NOT want to do a 3rd-time origin story of Spider-man where he's bitten by a spider,... since we've seen it TWICE at that point (first with Tobey Maguire in 2002, again with Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-man in 2012). So, they implied it in Captain America 3 - Civil War that Peter had already been bitten by the spider and he's already being the friendly neighborhood spider-man. Michael Keaton's character is the Vulture, one of spider-man's enemies in the comics. Also, the other guy with him in prison in the mid-credits scene (Michael Mando) clearly has a tattoo on his neck, of a scorpion. Hence he's another spider-man enemy from the comics, Scorpion. You should know him Rob, since you've played the games.
Also, that black guy (Mr. Criminal) that tipped Peter Parker about the Boat deal is actually Aaron Davis, Miles Morales' uncle in the comics. He also said that he doesn't want the weapons in the neighborhood, because he has a young nephew, a hint towards Miles Morales.
I wanted to explain some points that you might've missed there. 😀

One thing the MCU is really good at doing is giving us villains where you sympathize with their motives, and understand why they've gone down the path they have, but you don't agree with what they're doing. The Vulture is a good example of that.
Also, I think it's hilarious that The Martian is what you recognize Donald Glover from, and not from something that he's much more well known for, like Community or Atlanta, or from his hugely successful musical career as Childish Gambino 🤣 But yes, that's 100% him from The Martian.

The Spider-Man comics have always presented Peter (and Spider-Man) as being a very witty character, almost always ready to engage in banter. Tom Holland's entries in the MCU really found the balance between infusing his scenes with that wit while not losing the meat of the story. It's very evident a serious plot is involved but it doesn't weigh things down.

Not doing an origin story was totally the right move, being only 3 years after Andrew Garfield’s last film and 10 years after Tobey’s, audiences are already very familiar with a typical Spider-Man story and Spider-Man’s origin that it doesn’t need going over. It was good to just have a Spider-Man film set in the MCU and the world already set up here, and also it was good to have a Spider-Man film that wasn’t really depressing for once (the other 5 all have big downer moments, with 4 of them ending at a funeral) so it’s nice seeing a slightly less dramatic and more down-to-Earth friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.

0:32 Not our first time meeting this teacher. Back in The Incredible Hulk, Mr. Harrington was still a college student who Bruce Banner bribed with free pizza in order to access the computer lab.
2:45 Not to judge you too much over your lack of pop culture knowledge but it's kinda sad you only know of Donald Glover from The Martian. He's also an acclaimed musician and sitcom star. Based on your non-reaction, his comment about his nephew is a reference to Miles Morales who you may or not know from the game but should definitely know by now from Into the Spider-verse. Who knows? We may see Uncle Aaron suit up as The Prowler some day.
7:24 You probably paid no attention to Principal Morita but he previously played a Howling Commando in The First Avenger. In the office, you can see framed photos and medals of his character from that film meaning they brought the actor back to play his own grandson.
2:50 Sparkles? Not realizing the implication of Nacho's prominent scorpion tattoo? Are you sure you played the games and watched the old cartoons? These guys are major villains in those other media.
26:50 You seemed to have really missed a big part about how Tony Stark was the only one who listened to Peter. Tony listened to all of the voicemails even referencing how Peter helped an old lady with directions. He was also the one who worked with the FBI to organize that sting operation on the ferry. He didn't want Peter to take on challenges where lives were on the line because that's a massive responsibility that Peter wasn't ready for. Even Peter realizes that by the end of the film.
Also why are you criticizing Aunt May for not contributing enough to his heroics? She didn't know Peter was Spider-Man until the very end. She was the one pushing him to pursue teenage interests like going to parties and school dances. If Tony was Peter's superhero mentor, Aunt May was his civilian life mentor. If a hero has a dual identity, they have to remember to take care of both.

It really doesn't make more sense to have the web shooters organic. Well, it would if it came out of his tailbone area. The only reason it's on Tobeys wrists is because that's how the comic web shooters worked, he presses the button with his two middle fingers. Raimi sorta borrowed the organic concept from the failed James Cameron adaptation concepts, and said something like "it makes no sense a teenager can make a wonder adhesive 3M can't" which does follow but that's a weird place to draw the line on realism for a comic book adaptation.

The reason why Vulture didn't reveal SM identity, is because he is not dumb. By revealing Peter's name he makes his own daughter a big target! Remember, how many SM's love interests were a hostages, and survival rate is a really bad. The only way to keep his family safe is keep his mouth shut(especially while in prison). He can have his revenge later. SPOILERS: this situation was resolved automatically in "No way home" by memory charm.

Damn Rob! You know how to hurt a man. Calling Hulk tv show "really old" I was a kid watching that show, so I guess I have to face it...I'm really old 😜
I was born around the same time that Hugh Hefner 😆 created Spider-man.
I read and collected lots of comic books, but Spiderman was always my fav. A teenage comic book reader can't really relate to billionaire playboys ( Stark or Wayne) or aliens (Superman)
BUT... an awkward teenager with money, school, girl and family issues, who stumbles into power That is very relatable. Well done, Stan 😁 RIP
BTW, you stumbled into one of the messy Spidey debates. Organic webs vs the wrist web shooters. Most people are web shooter fans. Because that is how it was in the comics and it demonstrates Peter's technological skills (a mind like Stark) Plus, in the comic books the web fluid would often run out at the worst time, raising the tension

Although this isn't one of my favorite MCU movies, Michael Keaton's Vulture is one of my favorite MCU villains. His performance does not disappoint. I love the scene in the car when he pieces it all together and we see the green light shine on his face as he says "Good Ole' Spider-Man". Lots of Spider-Man Easter eggs in this movie.

@@robtrinreact2825 Fair. There are a LOT of X-Men movies. Not all of them good. Fun fact, did you know that while the MCU was making "Age of Ultron" featuring Pietro Maximoff AKA Quicksilver played by Aaron Taylor Johnson, the X-Men films were making a film that ALSO featured the character of Quicksilver, there PETER Maximoff, played by Evan Peters at the same time. The studios had to work out some weird rights deal for that to happen, butit was strange because in the same year two franchises put out a film featuring the same character, played by different actors, but the two versions had basically nothing to do with each other and were totally unrelated. Now THERE'S a weird situation for general audiences to wrap their heads around.

Vulture made his money from the alien tech they got and sold after New York, at the beginning. I get the idea that he was a blue collar worker to start and sacrificing his morals over the years has lead to his continued feeling of victimhood when in fact that has long been sorted years ago and he could have stopped at any time.

Also, there are a lot of scenes where spidey is completely CG and it looks just as uncanny imo. Now, I think it can be done better, since the suits in TASM looked so much better, just by watching the opening swinging scene from TASM2, you can see the difference.
