Watching you from Perth,Western Australia.i am a pahadi but from Shillong-North East .I lived in Beautiful New Zealand for 16 years since 911 and now living permanently in Australia but now as I grow older-45 I feel like coming back one day to Shillong as I still have land and want to build a mountain cabin.After living in 3 different countries-nothing beats living in the mountains of India.The smell,the food,the people.the culture with close family members.Shillong is beautiful too.Forget the negative comments and don't waste time reading them.Enjoy this short time you have in this planet.

I feel that a large majority of urban population has got so used to city life that they can't imagine joy without malls, crowd, multiplexes, parties, and lavish spending. I don't blame them but not everyone is a nature lover. Not everyone understands the joy of simple living. Not everyone can understand the joy of waking up the songs of birds, light cool breeze and sound of rain drops falling on a tin roof. It is what it is. As for me, I can spend an entire day sitting by a lake.

I'm not earning that much, like I was during my job, but I'm doing well, I'm satisfied n happy. I think if someone is happy in living in city its fine. I do freelancing and I earn good but never enjoyed this city life. Its only because of my mother illness I have not been able to move into hills. The reason of negative comments is that they want to live life like you but won't want to take risk of losing their pleasure life. They don't think how many sacrifices you must have done to live the kind of life you wanted to live for yourself. You have achieved financial freedom now but when you took the steps to live in hills it needs some serious guts n this always comes when someone want to live his dream. Hats of to you. I remember when we came to UK,we both worked very hard, 2-3 different jobs & within 2 years we had car & our own 3 bedroom house. It really depends what your priorities are ? I feel that a large majority of urban population has got so used to city life that they can't imagine joy without malls, crowd, multiplexes, parties, and lavish spending. I don't blame them but not everyone is a nature lover. Not everyone understands the joy of simple living. Not everyone can understand the joy of waking up the songs of birds, light cool breeze and sound of rain drops falling on a tin roof. It is what it is. As for me, I can spend an entire day sitting by a lake.
Lakes r rare in hills! 😀 I could spend thr same time sitting on a steep mountain rock.

I think if someone is happy in living in city its fine. I do freelancing and I earn good but never enjoyed this city life. Its only because of my mother illness I have not been able to move into hills. The reason of negative comments is that they want to live life like you but won't want to take risk of losing their pleasure life. They don't think how many sacrifices you must have done to live the kind of life you wanted to live for yourself.
