When I used to run a backhoe and had to dig a trench. I'd dig the trench and pickup the out riggers and use the bucket to push the machine. If i was coming off center I'd pick the machine up with the bucket and move it left or right.
with such easy digging on level ground just leave it in neutral and push yourself with the hoe. use the outriggers to hold you in place

Putting that backhoe on and off looks like a major PITA. I have a sub-compact with a backhoe that I can literally put on or take off in less than 5 minutes.
The technique that I use is when I need to move the tractor forward, I reach back to the operator station and raise the bucket/loader, raise the stabilizers and push myself forward using the backhoe. Then I can lower the bucket/loader and the stabilizers and go back to digging. Of course, this works with an open operator station (no cab) and a small sub-compact tractor.
It definitely aint my favorite thing to do.

Too easy to reach back and pick up the bucket and use the boom to push yourself forward. That's how they teach it when you get licensed.

Well the backhoe is way too hard to install! They need one that has a dedicated subframe that has the backhoe that hangs n it with two big hooks. Worked very well!
You do not get off and on. You lift the stabilizers and push yourself forward with the dipper stick and bucket.
Until I saw the word Backhoe, I thought you were about to mention the super fast in comparison, a subsoiler with a tube that places a cable or PEX roll in the ground as fast as you can drive with a subsoiler.

I got rid of mine..backhoe and tractor because of this...sorry to say this..the seat can't be adjusted my knees killed me.
If I need to do that kind of digging I'll just call the rental place and have a mini excavator delivered

Why you didn't get a 3 point hitch backhoe
TYM backhoes come with subframe
They are weak compared to one with a subframe. Also prone to breaking your tractor in half.
A few weeks ago I tried putting my backhoe on my tractor after 3 months of having it off. Boy it took me a hour and half to put that hoe back on I was piss should not have taken more then 20 minutes.
Hank your tractors got a leak need have look at that you could have a problem later
Maybe, maybe not, I like Hank own a tractor with a cab, which for TYM means with A/C people trying to be helpful have pointed out my condensation drip tube leaking. And I'm a sweaty guy, making for a lot of humidity for the A/C to remove from the cab.
