    Just some advice for later... Extend your backhoe bucket and then use your hydraulics to pull out your mower... Your hydraulics are a lot stronger than the backhoe for pulling and it will keep you from getting stuck so easily too! 👍👍

    Next time, mount the tire halfway, install the tube, inflate it partially, mount the 2nd half, and inflate fully. A pair of needle nosed vice grips can help hold the valve stem in place while mounting the tire. Inflating the tube partially helps too.

      @patrickduncan9724 this size of tubes rarely comes with threaded valve stems. I used to carry a special nickel plated chain that'd thread onto valve stems to ensure they wouldn't get lost in the tire

      The other side of your valve core removal tool threads onto the valve stem (where the cap goes when you're done) to keep it from falling inside... then use the needle nose vice grips (or zip tie) to hold it while you inflate.

      @@Meg.AugustLove this video! Brings back old memories. Here's a pro tip from 60 plus years of doing field mowing. Too dramatically. Improve The cutting performance of any field mower. If you take the blades and cut anywhere from 1/2 in to 1. In off of each end of the blade and rebalance it will cut like the engine is three times the horsepower. Obviously each pass you make is not as wide but the speed in which you can do it will more than make up for it and less stress on the engine.

      THE BEST COMMENT OF THE CENTURY... WELL SAID MARK

  • @chuckdavis7681
    @chuckdavis7681 Месяц назад +7

    Kudos for all of the hard work. Changing tires isn't easy. First, the wheel is made to take the tire off from one side. If you look at the rim of the wheel, you'll see the side with valve stem is much shorter. Both tires beads should be mounted from that side. Much easier. When you install a tube, all you need to do is break the bead on the short side of the rim, stuff in the tube, use a pair of locking pliers to hold the valve stem, and install the top bead back on the tire. The comment below about airing up the tube and then letting the air back out to straighten the kinks out of the tube is golden. Finally, it would have been much easier and cheaper to put on a set of chains on the back. I felt bad for you working that hard. But every challenge overcome is experience gained.

  • @kirk467
    @kirk467 Месяц назад +52

    Doing a good job Meg, I’ve never seen a tube put on before you put the tire on the rim! I usually just break the bead and push the tube in working it around the rim, air it up without a valve core fully and let all of the air out and then air it up again! That straightens the tube out so it doesn’t pinch! The tubes with a locking nut are usually the best ones!

    I have been in the Property Maintenance business for over thirty years. Started with very little equipment and had to learn just like you. Just to help, you are going to reduce the life of your lawn tractor mower using it to mow down the currant highly overgrown acreage. If you get what you have down to manageable height first then your mower can probably handle it, if you stay on top of it. If you are able to rent a field mower, mow it down this time. Then when you mow with your mower, keep the discharge opening away from the tall material and just take small swaths at a time. That will help the mower deck to clear material easily. Next, keep the blades sharp, get a second set and change them out twice a day then learn how to sharpen them yourself or take them to be sharpened at a mower shop. Using sharp blades will help your mower live longer. Also, when you change out your blades, use a good putty knife to clean the underside of the mower deck. At the end of the mowing season, remember to go over your machine and clean all of the material buildup off and service your machine before you put it away for winter. Wishing you good luck.

    As an old man now, it is hard not to yell at the screen and think to myself how much I want to show and help you how to do some of those tasks in an easier, quicker, safer, cheaper way, but then I realize that your just a 45 year younger, female version of me. I am the guy everyone comes to for how to do this or that on a huge variety of tasks, but I know how to do those things or have the correct tool, because I learned how NOT to do it first.
    One quick tip is to think about how you can utilize the boom on the back of the backhoe, keeping in mind the range of motions available. You could have used that for breaking the tire bead, extending the boom and retracting it to pull the john deere out and I am sure many other tasks you have.(This is your first video I have watched)

    on putting a tube in !! 1 powder the tube with baby powder , 2 put the bottom side of the tire on, 3 Tuck the tube in with valve stem in hole , get a pair of vice grips to hold it or even a cross style stem puller or both, 4 carefully spoon the top side in( this is where you can pinch the tube with your spoons ), 5 once the top is down make sure your vale core is out -- inflate to stretch out the tube and let back down , 6 reinflate and put your core in and inflate to seat the bead then let back to correct pressure!! dont inflate with a core in UNTILL you know everything is correct that way IF you got the tube in upside down you dont end up with a inflated tube / tire that you cant get to the stem that is drawn into the tire!!!!! i am not a pro tire person But i have done my own and watched many a pro for many years even helping a tire man whp does BIG (6 ft tall) tractor tires by himself take your time and be careful and dont fall !!! smaller tires are harder i think if you plan on continuing doing your own tires harbor freight has a tire machine for around 100$ (not the best but cheap ). bolt it to some heavy board s/ platform that you can stand on as you work the tire have fun

A predator for the loader to pull up stubborn root systems. I have seen some of those stand up mowers clear some dense thicket and fast too. Also, my loader has saved me Many times from getting out of, up to the axle, holes in the ground. Those were the tools I used ..... Hope this helps a little. I live somewhere rural and mountainous, a lot of times those tires with liquid in them aren't just to add weight but to keep you from tipping over if you mow on a hill like I do. Also wondering where this is, because I'd have to have on boots to my knees to walk thru that much brush around here or risk a copperhead or rattlesnake bite. I've done stuff like this all the time, only daughter of a US Army trained mechanic who went on to work on equipment at the coal mines and for his farmer friends plus I'm subborn and don't like asking for help and don't like paying anyone to do stuff I can try and always succeed in doing myself. Should wire wheel the bead and valve steam then use bead sealer on it, so it seals and prevents slipping. You can also J.B.Weld around the valve steam to fix the rust hole, and smooth it out so it doesn't cut the new tube. You did fine though, just suggestions.

      ALSO there is a tool that is used to fill a flat tire to not lose you valve stem. It has a clamp on the air valve that locks onto the tire valve. Take the valve stem core out and use this tool to fill the tire . once the bead sets. you can let the air bleed out and replace the valve stem core and then refill the tire with air.

    Try using the split brakes. Right tire spins, hit the right side brake, and it will transfer power to the left side, and vice versa. Majority of the time that should get you unstuck. You can also use them to turn sharper, or turning when you're pulling something heavy and the front end gets light.

    When cutting tall grass and weeds keep discharging to the already cut side so you don’t add material to where you are cutting.

To make things easier and put less strain on machine keep those blades sharp as it cuts with less effort and pushes grass out of the shoot. An old bloke also gave me a great tip which is to clean under deck spotless then when dry spray furniture polish. Grass does not stick and again helps with shooting grass out and very easy to clean when done. Great tip for long days of mowing .Plus less resistance means getting stuck less as grass building up acts like a huge brake. Like others have said cut as high as possible on first pass with such high grass.

      As far as the lawn tractors go, mostly the pre 1990’s are that solid. The JD’s sold at the big orange and the big blue stores are crap, a lot of them were actually Scott’s brand that JD had bought out and just changed the color and name on them. Nowhere remotely close to as good as a true Deere product. Post 1990’s only the new ones from an actual dealership were really good. I still have a preference to pre 90’s dealership tractors. I am a former JD dealership mechanic. Worked at dealerships for many years. Will always believe that true JD products are the Cadillacs of tractors (kind of like the Honda Goldwing is the Cadillac of motorcycles).

    Some advice if you are open to it, if not ignore this post. lol
    If the international is stuck, you have the backhoe arm and a front loader on each end. You can pull with the backhoe like you did, or you can also uncurl the loader bucket as far as it will go, put onto the ground, put in reverse as you curl the loader bucket back. You might have to do this 2-3 times as you back out, reset the loader bucket to be fully uncurled, curl and back, repeat until free. I have done this with my John Deere a few times when I didn't have my backhoe on and it pushes it out of holes while tires pull it out of holes at the same time. You shouldn't need to take the time to put rocks under the tires with the front loader and backhoe. Plenty of tools attached to the international to get you out without all the manual labor and time involved.
    That land looks very marshy and soft though as you can see the international sinking as you drove it to get your John Deere out. This is probably why there are so many ruts in the area.
    One last suggestion, instead of mowing it, why not use the international front loader bucket and scrape the very top layer of the land there to maybe do a couple of things. It might level the land out by filling in existing ruts as you bulldoze the area with the loader bucket. Yes, I know, it's soft as I described above. But once the vegetation is cleared, you can use the loader bucket to back drag and fill in your ruts you make as you clear the land. The vegetation eventually will grow back in like it currently is and you will have more level land to mow and not get stuck every 10 minutes.
    Great video though and pretty smart thinking about the ATV tires. I know you don't want to do it, but you might consider adding a bunch more air which will fill up the tires. The air can only expand so much outward (diameter of tire) and will exert more pressure to the sidewalls, which eventually will seat the tires fully on the rim. Then deflate back to the 10 pounds of pressure once fully seated.
    Ok, one final piece of advice, get goats. Hahaha. They won't get stick and might even supply you with milk.

    I’m really impressed, you done a fine job working through everything, I’ve been around farm and construction equipment all my life, so I can really see when someone knows what they’re doing. A little tip with the backhoe, when you get off the machine briefly like that to hook up a tow strap, I would put the outriggers and the front bucket down, leave the machine in neutral and leave it running while you get off the machine. It’s really bad for the starter and the hydraulic system, and the cooling system to shut it down like that, multiple times while using the machine. Obviously shut it down when you are done with it, but just to get off briefly, it is not good for it. It doesn’t give the battery time to charge either, it is extremely bad for your battery and charging system as well. Just a friendly tip, to help better maintain your equipment. But I am impressed, you sure don’t see many young women like you who knows their way around equipment, that isn’t afraid to get down and dirty, and use their hand and work out their problems in the field that way you do, especially don’t see young ladies who are as cute as you getting dirty like that either, you are really attractive no doubt. Put the hose of the sprayer over the valve stem and pump in the fluid. Window washer fluid or rv antifreeze anything that will not freeze. Of course remove air and valve stem first. You may have to remove hose to releive the pressure a couple times till it is full. Install valve stem and add air. Lower the pressure, better ride and traction. Love your will to getter done :) Have a blessed day :)

Go down in front of the brush untill the bucket just touches the ground. Then pull back the tractor dragging the bucket. After the brush is removed. You can go back over that section with the bucket just barely tilted down. If the tractor you have has float mode. You can float that front bucket with it slightly down and it will help level that ground. Second option. Find an old telephone pole. And dragged the telephone pole around the field with the tractor. After you have remove the brush with the front bucket

Damn Girl, you’re a Positive, Humorous, and Influential Person! Super Cool! Keep Her Moving! Cheers from Wisconsin!

    I like your spirit of not giving up easily, life is like that, sometimes easy and sometimes difficult. But don't give up and keep your mind so you can finish all the work well and finish it. Anyway good job 💪💪💪👍👍👍 keep update and thank's 🙏😊

    Go for it girl, I love your attitude, you make mistakes but you don’t throw the towel in, some of them make me laugh but you get yourself out of them and like you say you learn from them, your so cool

      It's you're (a contraction of you are) so cool, not your, which is a possessive.
