This is what separates Welker Farms from other guys on RUclips, they just go buy or lease whatever they need. You guys go find a piece of equipment that needs work and turn it into exactly what you want/need. The best part about this is, when it's done you know exactly what you have. I'm really looking forward to this project, can't wait to see how it turns out
I am a retired mechanic and I would love to spend a day with the gentleman that is working on your transmission ! guys and gals like him keep the world turning every day .
You're Spot on Jon. Unlike other hitting up the finance company these men actually get in do the work them selves. Wheather moving 2nd hand grain silos or rebuilding ~50 year old tractors even a bent header front. Fantastic. DIY & cash flow + . Rebuilt, reuse, repurpose Environmentally freindly. I hope the season is good for them. They deserve a good break.
“simple to work on “ is way understated and underappreciated these days. These Big Bud tractors will save your farm tens of thousands in service repair bills just because you can repair and maintain them yourself. I’m a huge fan of simple and doing my own mechanic work.
This is the type of content that I first saw when I first found this channel. Very happy to see this tractor transform. Interesting to see modern upgrades get integrated into this old platform as well.
Hi guys. The KTTA 19 was developed in the late eighties and was marketed to replace the aging and not the greatest VTA 1710 engine and compete with the 3412 and 3508 cat along with the 12V92 Detroit. The KTTA 19 had a maximum of 700hp. They are a great engine but on the limit somewhat particularly being a jacket water after cooled engine. Stretching a KTTA19 by increasing the fuel pressure to put out more than 700hp is asking for trouble. I have seen it a few times. You will know a KTTA 19 that is running hard as the top of the aftercooler will be discolored with a dark pinkish hue. So Nick no 800hp The BMEP was close to the design limit of the power cylinder and there were improvements to the K series leading up to the KTTA 19 release including STC injectors. On this if you ever change the cylinder head gaskets, make sure your protrusions are in spec and you use the construction style head gasket. The oil pan you have looks to be a 12.5 gallon cast aluminum piece. This is a good deal for the KTTA 19 @ 700HP as the shallow 10 gallon pan called for a large LF750A canister style bypass oil filter housing to increase the oil volume. Make sure you still run a LF777 remote bypass oil filter. They may of left this on the old machine The KTTA 19 that we still get new out of the Seymour engine plant has a CPL 1253 and a fuel pump code of E790. This has been the same since the late 90's early 2000's Here are some of the codes below. I have a feeling you may have the E240 being an Auto transmission if you have a 1253 CPL E 240 700hp @ 2100 15% torque rise Automotive governor E 783 520hp @1800 5% torque rise VS governor E 784 650hp @ 2100 15% torque rise VS governor E 785 700hp @ 2100 15% torque rise VS governor with out check valves E 790 700hp @ 2100 15% torque rise VS governor with check valves E 813 600hp @1800 15% torque rise VS governor Its great that these have been freshly rebuilt, however I would be cutting the oil filters open just to make sure there is no issues. I can not wait to see this tractor running.
One question, I've seen a few kta19 engines turned to 800. What would need to be done to handle that hp? We don't want to do that but I'm just curious what it takes.
Hi guys charge air cooling, larger gear pumps on the fuel pump, increase flow through the injectors and timing are all the things I have seen on juiced up kta 19 engines. You can get away with it in on highway trucks, however applications such as tractors that can spend quite a bit of time at full power will eat themselves up. The k19 is unique in that it's a square engine, bore and the stroke is the same, unlike the c18 cat which is stroked. The k19 is an industrial engine unlike the c18 which originated from the c15. Huge difference in engines with a lot more spinning mass on the cummins. This project is going to be awesome
This is the reason I subscribed to this very channel. No other farming channel I know comes close to the Welkers. The passion you guys have to build and be creative is unmatched. Can't wait to see the new bud come to life. Greetings from Kenya and God bless 🫡

Sweet! Reminds me of when i had to get a 3406b 425hp into a cat d8n due to its 3406c 285hp engine locking up from oil starvation. The modifying and swapping parts then seeing your own blood and sweat coming alive makes it all worth it. Keep up the great work!!

I’m excited to spend winter building this Bud. Just a thought , those combine tires may have some wear. I’d call and get specs on new one!!! Enjoyed watching.
Would such a fun job to tackle. It’s a testament to the way the frame and rear ends were built that it will handle that much power. Way ahead of there time bud was
Big Buds is the reason I found you years back. Love the big old girls - a couple of them around here at one time. Great to hear you are going to be fixing this one up. Cannot wait to see her work your fields. Happy Thanksgiving to your crew / family and you. God Bless - Be safe.
The Big Bud rebuilds are what got me onto this channel years ago. This will be the most exciting series in a long time! Will be an interesting cost comparison to a new unit of the same HP. All I ask if that you either make or modify a series 4 hood to go on there! Love that hood! Was never a big fan of the 3 eyed Series one hoods! Excited to follow along!
This is going to be the most exciting build ever on You Tube. You guys absolutely are building your tractor pretty much from the ground up. Excited to see the build start.
Just found this channel, at first I thought you all were hauling a Soviet Kirovet tractor, I don’t know a whole lot about tractors so had never heard of a “Big Bud”, so this is going to be great! I am definitely subscribing, can’t wait to watch this build!

It was the rebuild of the Big Bud that brought me to your channel in the first place and have watched every episode since, now this will make sure i wont miss one in the future. Also love those 6-71 Detroit humming in the background. Love those engines. Good luck and stay safe around that heavy machine.
absolutely incredible how you guys stayed true to ol fashion and fabricate, rewire, and repower your own equipment and in the long run save a ton of money by not purchasing brand new equipment that has nothing but problems with emissions, cheap sensors and Chinese made parts.

I can't wait to see it finished and working in the fields. Maybe editing time would be too much. But i would love to see some longer videos during the build. I catch myself watching some other youtubers for about 2 hours on one video. I can't sit through a two hour movie sometimes. However, i love sitting and watching my favorite youtube channels. Love the videos, guys. Keep up the good work. Also, last thought, we need to thank more farmers for putting up with all the headaches and price problems because without you, we wouldn't eat.
Welker Farms can do it. This will be an impressive power train for the Big Buds Tractor. You know how to deal and you know what components work. You have the experience to prove it. We wish you the best.
Scott, Nick, Bimbob: love the new tractor! Don’t waste your money on the old UGLY ice box cab and hood. Put the new style bud cab and hood on the old tractor. You guys rock!!!!!!
Very cool tractor. Nice to see these being restored. Please keep the green and yellow stripes when restored. Same colours as my County. County Donegal, Ireland
absolutely made out like bandits! lol that Cummins/Allison combo will be a solid choice. The only downfall to the PTO pads on the Allisons... or really any industrial transmission is the power draw capacity. Being an ag application it's not really an issue, but in O&G applications it was easy to try and draw too many ponies from the PTO pads.
Funny you mentioned Bakersfield, Ca. I grew up there and my father’s friends were the guys who had the 747 built. I remember when it was basically new. Very cool!
This is going to be a fantastic journey watching this big new big bud being built cant wait to see all the work get started to all the welkers and your families have a happy thanks giving and god bless
Pretty awesome. That’s going to be impressive when you’re done. Sounds like an amazing deal on the Engine and Transmission combos. Thanks for the videos, definitely will be looking forward to seeing what happens next.
Every time I start to think you guys are running out of new original content you go and do something like this I love it! Thanks Scott and Nick you guys are truly impressive!
By the grace of God I have a big smile after watching this. Oh boy, winter is going to be interesting and fun for us too. I am sure there are challenges ahead but you guys have made a great start on an awesome machine. Simple is best. Hope you get reasonable rain next year to to help defray the costs but what the heck it is a great idea. The question is will it be ready to run at Indy in May? Thank you, take care and God bless.
My gosh guyz.. I’m just over the top excited and happy for the farm.. please get lots video of this build. That tractor deserves to live and farm again.
Saw 2 Case 9240 rice combines roll by me on tracks. Those class 9 machines were bigger than I expected moving down the country road. Look like it was some 40 something foot shelbourne reynolds stripper headers on each
This looks to be an exciting winter project that I'm going to be able to watch with all your videos in the warmth of my home and I will be cheering you all on, can't wait for you all to get started.
I am so excited to see another big bud on the farm!!! Since you have 2 motors and transmissions and have the idea of the LSW 1400s. I think a good idea would be to put a motor in the new bud, replace the motor in the series 3 big bud 650. Then take the tires off the series 3 and put them on the new bud. Then put the LSW 1400s on the series 3 bud since it’s a more open fender design. I really hope you guys see this comment and I’m so excited to see the upcoming videos! PS: I hope you guys at least demo if not buy a series 5 bud when they come out!
Leg Arms can't quit smiling. This will be just one more engineering feet. That transmission guy looks like he really likes a challenge. Scott from Titan Tires do your magic. WELKER BUILT
Ya'll are actually doing mods in real life that I put on my farm sim tractors!!! Love it.... Crazy amount of work for some big tires!!!! Good luck cant wait to see the finished result
I think a lot of us will learn new things with this project. Yes, excited to see the project as it unfolds, and to see the end product at work in the field.
Honestly I’ve always loved tractors and big machine but never have I ever more then now hot rodding tractors is cool hahah it’s like a retro mod tractor love it can’t wait to see it going
Allison transmissions are pretty bullet proof. I've got a much smaller 3000 World Series in my RV, and the safety interlocks to prevent it from shifting have bailed me out more than once on grades with my RV. I think once you get it all connected you are going to love how it operates.
I love the old screaming jimmy hes got for a test stand. I was slightly confused at first why your Cummins engine sounded like a jimmy. I figured it out now hahaha, just something about those old Detroit's
Nick and Scott, I wish you could feel the pure glee and joy I felt when I saw another Big Bud. When you had the episode where you lost the planetary I was thinking the very same thought, "Thy don't have enough redundancy of critical path equipment." Well clearly you guy were thinking about that too. What a wonderful project. I wonder if Case IH or Big Equipment might want to sponsor into this project to show off features of their equipment going into your "resto-mod". Case electronics would be super cool to see. Even a seat would be nice. I can't wait to watch this develop.
You could use extra frame length, so maybe splitting the frame through the center line of the fenders and lengthen it 8” plus raising it 4”. We wanted another 4x4 so we did the same thing on a smaller scale. Repowered a Versatile 900 with a aftercooled 855 and sent it to the field for $4500. You are making great content with this build.
RUclips can be so annoying. You guys haven't showed up on my feed in a few months and I have the notification bell hit. Glad you did again! Miss these builds
This is going to be amazingly epic I cannot wait to watch this!!!!! So ready to start watching this project from beginning to end! I hope your guys is entire family has a blessed Thanksgiving!

absolutely made out like bandits! lol that Cummins/Allison combo will be a solid choice.
Very cool!
@@pjschuetz very cool!
I'm so happy about this. Big buds are so cool.
This is GREAT! You can’t have enough Big Buds! The Allison trans rocks too!
Looking forward to the build, like others have said, just like old times, fabricating and rebuilding.
The more the BIG BUDS the better.
Looking forward to watching your project go forward.
I am very excited for this project! I love the farmer ingenuity and self sufficiency. The field trip to Al's diesel was cool.
Thanks!
Appreciate your gift, blessings
My gosh guyz.. I’m just over the top excited and happy for the farm.. please get lots video of this build. That tractor deserves to live and farm again.
Haha nothing like another Welker project, going to love this. Big Bud with LSW’s 👌
Wow.. I'm going to be glued to your channel from this point on. I'm very excited to see how it turns out, it's going to be a beast...
Saw 2 Case 9240 rice combines roll by me on tracks. Those class 9 machines were bigger than I expected moving down the country road. Look like it was some 40 something foot shelbourne reynolds stripper headers on each
Oh boy!! Can't wait to watch you boys get started, now don't leave nothing out, thank you Welkers
She's a beauty!!! Congratulations Welkers. Stay safe and healthy and do not let Scott work on it alone, we like you guys healthy.
I would have my doubts if i hadn't seen you do the semi tractor build. You will do this just as easily. 🎉🎉
Bought a smile to my face! Can't beat a big old diesel.
This looks to be an exciting winter project that I'm going to be able to watch with all your videos in the warmth of my home and I will be cheering you all on, can't wait for you all to get started.
That two stroke diesel at Al's was the all star in this video.
Guys, I love seeing that old articulated steel brought back to life. So much better than the new stuff in my opinion.
Pure guy tv for the snowy days ahead. Welkers are are amazing.
This Buds is going beast mode!! I do love me some Allison transmissions. Miss working on them.
I think a lot of us will learn new things with this project. Yes, excited to see the project as it unfolds, and to see the end product at work in the field.
Maybe you could get a set of Tracks for that tractor.
I have rebuilt a 855 versatile. It took a complete winter and into spring. Good to watch y’all. Do it. Watch your axles with big tires.
They're gonna be into it for close to 100k
Honestly I’ve always loved tractors and big machine but never have I ever more then now hot rodding tractors is cool hahah it’s like a retro mod tractor love it can’t wait to see it going
Allison transmissions are pretty bullet proof. I've got a much smaller 3000 World Series in my RV, and the safety interlocks to prevent it from shifting have bailed me out more than once on grades with my RV. I think once you get it all connected you are going to love how it operates.
That was an amazing into to this video! I worked summer hire almost 50 years and never lost my love of everything farm.
I'm absolutely extremely excited. Can't wait to watch the build.
A twin cummins engine big bud would be sick the other route that would be sick is to cram a 24v92 in it with big turbos etc
LegArms is like a kid in a candy store. I can’t wait to see it running!!!
I remember that tractor sitting in New Cyuama CA back in the early 90s
@@chrisgriffin2587 no way! That's awesome
Yeah there were 2 of them sitting next to grain bins out by airport rd. @WelkerFarms
You can never have too many buds!!!
Can’t wait to see what you do with it!
I love the old screaming jimmy hes got for a test stand. I was slightly confused at first why your Cummins engine sounded like a jimmy. I figured it out now hahaha, just something about those old Detroit's
This is going to be so much fun to watch as you guys get her going.
This is going to be sooo cool to follow the progress this winter Looking like a lot of hard work and fun
This is what the USA is all about. This is awesome. 😎👍
The editing and storytelling in this video are absolutely top-notch
Omg im super excited to see this build happen!
