Have your sponge handy for swiping any beads that do make a run for it. Let sit for about 1 minute. 2) Dunk your sponge in the designated "dirty" bucket, and wring it mostly dry, then wipe down the misted area, rewetting and wringing after one good swipe on each side of the sponge. 3) Wipe down the area with the sponge again, but using the "clean" bucket of water this time. Be sure to only dunk the sponge in the clean bucket, but wring it into the "dirty" bucket! If the water is wringing out fairly clean, then you are done with the area after this, but go back to step 1 if the water is still wringing out dirty. I am so impressed! I have never smoked a single cigarette and find the smell disgusting. I would need a hasmat suit to even go in there before the clean :)
Great purchase, Meg! You did an amazing deep clean of that travel trailer! I now understand why the hotels I worked at in Banff and Jasper charged a $250 cleaning fee if someone smoked in a room.

Great work! But in the future, just a tip! Use foam and foam it down and let that soak for 10min or so,and rinse. If its not clean after that, then use the foambrush as last step. It makes the job to remove algae soo much easier. :)
I used to work for an extended stay hotel, and the top and the ozone work wonders. You could let the ozone go all night long after you clean everything. We also used to put fabreeze mixed in the carpet shampoo water
Wow Meg you sure lucked out with this! Such a luxurious trailer! Even with all the needed cleanng I think you got a great deal. Be great for the land you're looking for!
In my college years I took on a job as a freelance PC tech, fixing peoples computers. The ones that belonged to smokers, were much worse than what you are dealing with. The PC fan pulls air through the system constantly, and when that moving air goes around PC parts, it causes that smoke stuff to stick. Which causes dirt to stick. So it was layers of brown sticky stuff. That's a great purchase. Down here in the states people seem to want $15k even for 2000-2005 trailers
That's an awesome deal you guys got on that camper! I'm right there with you on the smoke thing as well - I started in my late teens and quit in my early/mid-20s, and man, after doing some similar cleaning and also realizing (now that I've quit) just how much of a smell it leaves everywhere, I'm very glad I kicked the habit. My lungs thank me as well hahaha Fantastic video as always! Always look forward to new projects on Saturdays!
Watching ypu clean it reminds me of cleaning a studio apt at my mother's home that she rented to my ex mother inlaw she was smoker it took us a long time and scrubbing to clean the walls and ceiling before we could paint it to make it liveable for our daughter. We used the ex mil car her windshield had so much smoke residual it was running down the windows.
just discovered your videos there great work. I recognized where you had the trailer. Temporarily there. lol I dozed those areas for the races. So cool to see local stuff on RUclips.
15:21 That cutout on the sink cover is an opening for your hand to be able to remove it. The sink needs to be mounted from the bottom for the drop in to work. The idea is to provide temporary counter space since it is typically limited in campers and trailers.
Very interesting project 👍 Big and spacious travel trailer, I can imagine it's very comfortable place to be in a holiday. A lot to clean too, but the result is very visible and satisfying. Most likely indeed makes nice profit when you sell it, if you want to even sell it after all ;) My parents had caravan trailer in the 80's - 90's, much smaller though, but it was still fun way to travel around in summer holidays. Saab 99 and Opel Kadett E served as a towing cars for it, so when the caravan trailer was parked at camping area, it was easy to drive around in the car for sightseeing, shopping, etc.

I went to Ecole Nouvelle in the 1960's in Lausanne, Switzerland. Smoking was allowed if you were 16 years old and you had an allowance to afford it. No smoking in classes. The Dining Hall and Rccreation rooms and living areas always were full of smoke. I was not ever a smoker myself. Just other people's smoke. Saturday's with Meg, what could be better? When I saw the trailer in the "trailer" (see what I did there) my first thought was this is where we will be living while working on the new property. Nope, This was a financial move and a smart one at that Congrats on the find this should really be a win in the end. As per usual you make hard work look fun, can't wait to see what you're up to next.
First RULE of RVing is to know your clearance height and width. Watch those low bridges also. You all got a killer deal on that RV. Good luck. My RV TT is just about the same size as yours is.
You are a very very brave woman Meg!! All that smell’ nicotine staining (shudder!). Great job mate! You cracked it. Enjoy the benefits of all that hard work!😍👍😍👍🎖🎖🎖🎖🎖🎖🎖

I am guessing you guys will live in there until you build your new home on the land that hopefully you were able to purchase. You guys got a fantastic deal.
Outstanding job. As nasty as it was I bet you had a feeling of accomplishment when you were done. You now know how clean it is and will be proud to tell any new owner everything you did to make it a home away from home. 👍
Just in case you didn't already know, you can lower a vehicles height by at least an inch or so by airing down the tyres- in case you ever get stuck under something again...

Best anti-smoking video every. That stuff is in your lungs, then onto the walls. Ew. Also why are videos like this and Midwestern Magic Cleaning so fun to watch? It's just dudes and dudette's cleaning stuff.
with ozone you need to clean first and then do the ozone. if there is grime all over everything the ozone doesnt get to the stuff under. when done right it works amazing. tho there are a bunch of low quality machines that done work very well. if you have a legit machine then a deep clean then ozone should get rid of all the smell. stick the ozone machine inside the fridges too, gets rid of smells in there too.....but have the fridge on when you do it because you want the fan moving the ozone through its pipes which is where most of the smell collects.
When I was younger I briefly had a job deep cleaning the prison cells attached to law courts. The tar on the ceiling was so thick It was like scraping congealed butter off concrete 🤢 (think we had to spray some kind of acid on it if I remember correctly)
Ah, I was thinking from the title that there had been a small interior fire so was expecting ash/carbon dark black walls and ceilings, but beginning to wonder if that's much worse than 'just nictoitne' stains. I'm a smoker, have been for 32 years, but remember when I part exchanged my first car for the second at the Ford dealer, I decided I'd clean it as best I could, and using anti static foam cleaner in the plastics, the indicator/windscreen wiper stalks were coated in crap and yellow stating on trims that I stopped smoking when driving and hardly smoked much at all, but then was stuck in traffic by Birmingham (England's second largest city), and thought sod this and sparked a cig up, and sadly never stopped for any decent length of time since, but this will certainly help me slow down a little. That cleaner you used looks good, what is it? I was thinking if this was me try steam cleaning, but your cleaner seems better, but would try shampooing carpets, and going over with steam cleaner and then wet vacuuming after, you can get carpet/ car interior shampoo's with enzymes in to kill bacteria and helps get rid of odours. That was hugely satisfying to watch, especially as I wasn't cleaning 🤣but in all seriousness, that has inspired me to doing some though cleaning of my car, house etc.
You know that's a good point, I honestly wonder what would be worse - small interior fire damage or cigarette smoke damage... The cleaner I used was Solvable brand TSP. It worked very well! It does leave a bit of a chalky residue so I gave everything a secondary wipe down with some diluted Dr Bronner's soap and now everything is squeaky clean. I'm glad this video inspired you to clean!! It honestly is such a great feeling getting a space cleaned and freshened up!😊
The sink cut out, is exactly that. When the manufacturer cut the hole for the stainless steel sink they left the cut out in the Trailer for any future countertop repairs. Standard practice and they don't have to pay for the rubbish too.
I knew a fellow once that worked for Air Canada back in the days when you could smoke on the plane. He said cleaning the air filters was absolutely disgusting the tar would be inches thick.
Got a little bad information for you worked on RVS and rebuilt RV's professionally for 9 years rebuilt my own RV's and let me tell you most RV's have wrought in them within the first three years because the fact rebuild does not properly seal them their computer sealed so if you want to keep your rv in good shape you have to get up there even when it's brand new and seal it with the proper good sealer which most of them are rubber roofs and there's two different kinds of rubber roofs so you have to get the proper sealer for the proper rubber roof if you use the wrong sealer it will burn it and stretch it the only way you can tell is if you have the book for the rv or from the color of the inside of the rubber one is white one is black you have to use a self leveling sealant for the roof and then a good silicone not cheap silicone on the seams on the walls They're not built to last because they wouldn't make any money if they did so trust me get up on the roof walk on it very carefully see where your rod is hopefully you got one with a winter package on the under case with the hard plastic or steel if it's got the perforated tarp type material when you drive water sprays up gets the installation wet and then you get mold on the floorboards underneath the trailer trust me I'm ripped out enough installations on RV trailers and it's really weird mold because it seems to like to eat particle board which your floors are made out of on all rb rentals that we had I had to rip out all the installation and we just ran them with no insulation because we didn't rent a motor in the winter I learned rvs were no good years ago before I even worked in an RV place and I bought a school bus and changed it into a motorhome because school busses are all metal so you got one thing good right fiberglass on the outside rv's is a good thing because most of fiberglass rvs have metal studs so good luck I found even rebuilding rvs that have got rod in them once you start replacing you don't stop never ending job If you see any leaks in the colors or the sealant it's too late And if you're gonna cook in an RV with propane and heat it with propane make sure you get yourself a very good dehumidifier
Gave it a thorough checking, no mold in the structure, just some very minor surface mold on some of the higher condensation areas, but yes, mold is no joke!
As a smoker. Don't smoke in the house. But in my 20s when living in Phoenix, Arizona. Did because of the heat. So we would wash our place from ceiling down to get rid of the build up at least once a month. Even as a smoker. Hated the nasty ashtray smell
Hi meg cigarette smell is har to get rid of gets in everywhere vents fabric etc I used to smoke but it up years ago air it out when done how big is this caravan I used to make them here in Australia biggest I made was a 30 footer.
Borax soap is a cheaper way to clean and deodorize anything, a box usually only costs $5 to $6. Just remember borax is only 4% soluble in hot water, so don't try to add too much, better to just create a new batch if the previous batch is dirty.
As a current smoker, no offense taken! I refuse to smoke in the house for the same reason. Even a lot of smokers can’t stand the smell it leaves behind! Not to mention turning everything yellow!
Great job at cleaning the caravan. Just remember, you are talking about a man who has died. Respect that and stop shaming him. We all had or have bad habits. I'm sure you did as well. Compassion for people goes a long way.
The only way it’s possible with this half ton is because it’s a heavy duty package with higher payload and towing, otherwise it would be illegal with a regular half ton! And honestly, it’s still pretty sketchy
For the amount of squirting you're having to do, it might be worth it to get a bug sprayer. Get the cheaper granular TSP and mix up your own. And check the date code on those tires. Trailer tires like to explodes every few years completely unexpectedly. Full tread on those tires aren't the same as looking at car tires.
@@Meg.August That's the problem with trailer tires. They LOOK good (right until the 'splode). You really need to look at the date codes and see how old they are. The problem is they sit for long periods of time in one place. And moisture can seep into a very small 'crack' and get the steel belts wet and make a small divot in them. Then when you finally start towing that belt starts bending back and forth until there's an internal failure. (think: bending a coat hangar back and forth until it breaks). Not trying to scare you, but when tires let go at speed, they tend to tear up the trailer they're connected to.
Having prepped more than a few dirty walls for painting, my standard method now involves two 5 gallon buckets half full of (initially) clean water, a heavy duty degreaser like TSP, nitrile gloves, a large grout sponge, and a smaller soft bristle brush for corners and smaller areas/details.
1) Mist an area of wall (I go for roughly 2x2 to 3x3) with the degreaser enough to make it damp, but try to stop short of where it begins to bead and run down the wall.

I also like to roll up a towel or drop cloth lengthwise and push it up against the wall under the section I am working on, to keep the mess from getting to much onto the floor.

You may want to have the a/ c coil cleaned that can be a source of smell to?
good point! I ran the a/c and then the furnace with the ozone machine cycles and seems to be good now!
May be worth a professional duct cleaning or replace the ductwork. Usually not too difficult on a RV
Hi Meg 👋🏻 Great work👍🏻 on a disgusting job my friend 🤢🤮 Hopefully all goes well with the trailer 🤞🏻 God Bless 🙏🏻 Appreciate you my friends 🫶🏻
Definitely a nasty job lol!! But totally worth it! Thank you so much!
Is that prince Edward Island? Nice find!
Thanks! It’s actually Vancouver Island!
When I was younger I briefly had a job deep cleaning the prison cells attached to law courts. The tar on the ceiling was so thick It was like scraping congealed butter off concrete 🤢 (think we had to spray some kind of acid on it if I remember correctly)
oh wow, that would be a nasty job for sure!! 😬
It honestly is such a great feeling getting a space cleaned and freshened up!😊
Love you so much Meg❤😊
My cousin owns and operates a nursing home on Vancouver Island, B.C. Hello from rocky coast of Maine, US. October 13, 2024.
Hey. You should check the structures of the caravan to make sure there is no mold anywhere, mold is a bad friend in a caravan.
Gave it a thorough checking, no mold in the structure, just some very minor surface mold on some of the higher condensation areas, but yes, mold is no joke!
👍
I had to have a smoke while watching this. Lol
lol!
I'd like to have you detail my cars and trucks.
It's definitely very hard to get rid of, yes!
Someone behind the camera is a heavy breather. :P
Now you know why the previus owner died..
That's sad but actually true
Great job at cleaning the caravan. Just remember, you are talking about a man who has died. Respect that and stop shaming him. We all had or have bad habits. I'm sure you did as well. Compassion for people goes a long way.
How is it towing with a 1/2 ton truck?
The only way it’s possible with this half ton is because it’s a heavy duty package with higher payload and towing, otherwise it would be illegal with a regular half ton! And honestly, it’s still pretty sketchy
You should have been sponsored by what ever spray cleaner you used lol
lol!
I need to fix my inherited travel trailer so this is perfect viewing. Then I need to find a used F150 and fix that to tow it
Glad to hear it! Good luck with your trailer!
Thanks for the tips! And yes definitely gave those tires a good check to look for damage, sun rot, etc. they looked good!
What was the stuff in the white bottle with purple label called
AND MORE THAT THAT IN THE GUYS LUNGS . SICK
Can TSP be used on thick cloth like car seats? Their webpage does not say anything about it
I’m not sure! I used the wet vac on the fabrics
how much tsp did you use to clean that trailer?
A couple gallons of concentrate lol!
How’s the land shopping going? You could park the camper on a space until you build a home.
That’s a great idea! 😉
Nice job Meg can you imagine what your lungs look like if you smoke that much ewww
Thank you! And yes, definitely made me very glad I don't smoke...
