Last month my mom and I were looking for a keychain in a very old Japanese beautiful box that was my dads. I actually found something with so much more importance... his super old Zippo! The other day was his birthday and he made a visit. Miss him so much... he passed 4 years ago.

My grandfather had a zippo from the 1930s I found 15 years ago filled it up and it still works great after so many years good to have such a quality made lighter you really don't see quality like zippo anymore!

I sent my Zippo lighter back to the manufacturer a few weeks ago because the top became disconnected. Just received it back today with the top reconnected along with a new lighter insert. FWIW, this is the second time I have had to send this lighter for repair for the same reason and each time they honored their warranty.. It just doesn't get any better than this, Zippo is the best darn lighter on the market today and their warranty is unmatched. Thank you to whoever handled my lighter......

I have the black matte, street chrome, iced paisley, brass, and a whole box of misc. zippos.
I love using these instead of bic lighters because you never have to worry about them not lighting.
I’ve fixed every zippo I’ve ever found myself and it’s turned into a full blown hobby now.

You can also sign up for e-mail from Zippo! It's really cool to see all they offer. Check it out. You won't be sorry!

      Fill for another 5 secs

I bought a black matte regular sized zippo in Bangkok. Beautiful and simply a quality piece. Unfortunately, it got confiscated by the airport security people despite being a brand new and dry one. It’s sad it got taken away brand new.
What’s funnier was that I had in its original box and receipt to prove it’s new but oh well.
Later on, got myself another zippo but it’s an armor one. Repacked the cotton, fixed the wick, filled it up and now I’m using it for almost a month. This is awesome! It’s a blessing to be able to have one.
One thing is that I noticed how the hinge have a little bit of play from brand new. Is this normal?

    • @zippo

Zippo lighter fluid is a petroleum distillate, which means it will eventually evaporate even when not in use. There are a few things you can do to limit the evaporation, though. Make sure you keep the lid closed when you're not using the lighter, and keep it upright and away from heat or direct sunlight.

You don't need a pin to lift the pad, just use the nozzle off the lighter fluid, as the liquid won't come out off the nozzle until you squeeze the tin..Also that hole, you can put a flint there just incase the other one goes while you're out in the wilderness off a town centre. Lol.

As for the zippo lighter fluid fuel metal container....remember back in the day when the cans/container were solid metal? Now, because every company always sells out, the metal container is flimsy thin sheet metal that waffles under the slightest pressure. I have to hold the top lip of the container so I don't spray the fluid everywhere. Thanks Zippo. You're doing a fine job bringing AMERICA down to 3rd world country status. I at least hope the Board Members are enjoying their wealth on their yachts laughing their heads off.

Hi Morgan, this video fits all of our standard windproof lighters. Did you have a question about something specific?

A gas station sold me Ronson multi fill butane fuel and told me it was good for zippo. Nope. I wrongly assumed. Ugh

Our Zippo windproof lighters take Zippo premium lighter fluid and Ronsonol. Butane fuel is not used for our windproof lighters. Butane is only used in our utility or candle lighters. Hope that helps!
