@@davus2250 Yea we're talking about the same mission. Geralt wakes up from taking the potion, Roach starts talking in a male voice and then Geralt says something like "that's an interesting voice for a female mare"
You forgot that Yennefer doesn’t sprint at your speed in Witcher 3. EVEN WORSE, she SLOW JOGS. So if you walk, you’re slow and if you jog, you find yourself waiting on her.
I like Vesemirs comment over Yennefer in the "killing monsters" comic Geralt: "I dreamed.. Of her. Yen. But it felt so real... Could she been there, teleported perhaps?" Vesemir: "Was she good to you?" Geralt: "... Yes." (it was a sex dream, surprise) Vesemir: "Believe me. It WAS a dream"
I remember when I took Yennefer to kaer morhen to figure out how treat Uma, and when vesemir suggests something and Yennefer snaps at him and Lambert tells her something among the lines of "watch your mouth, you're not talking to Geralt here" I literally cringe. Everyone sees she treats him like a cuck. I always break up with her, once I thought maybe I can have a playthrough with her as a romance option, but she grinds my gears over and over with statements such as "Please, Geralt, I'm also really intelligent not just extraordinarily beautiful" Take a chill pill, beyotch
@@MyaB1986 The thing is that Triss is also an asshole, she literally doesn't tell Geralt about Yennifer when he lost his memory just to fuck him. It's just that in TW3 events she is more well-behaved and less honest about her intentions. But book and TW1 and 2 Triss are even worse than Yen. Not to mention Geralt isn't exactly a perfect gentleman either and will cheat fucking constantly.
@@XPSGames None of his other friends in the first game tell him about Yennefer either. Not really fair to single Triss out on that one. Dandelion at the very least should have been willing to fill him in, but also Zoltan, Vesemir, Lambert, Eskel. None of them even bring it up.
@@XPSGames first of all: geralt cheats-or the player choosing this path? Vast difference. I don't really mind talking about the book issue, but be aware that Sapkowski made them decades ago, and I hate to say it but a white old man from a "white old men" - country writing this story is quite.. Out of fashion. There are no saints around, but Yen is actively toxic towards her "lover" where triss, not being nice and yes, hiding truth from Geralt, never tried to abuse him nor got mad when he refrained from being intimate with her.
The fact their is a spell that bind them together and geralt didnt want to break but she did. In the end her reason is bs where as geralt wanted her regardless of the spell. She really is a bitch lol
@@k.a.i1539 What she really just wanted to learn if her feelings were real rather than just being magic controlling her actions. I can't genuinely blame her for that and I don't understand how wanting to know what your true feelings are is bs and makes her a bitch. She didn't want to break up, she wanted to be free of the spell but that isn't synonymous with breaking up with Geralt necessarily. Besides, she never asked for the spell to begin with.
@@KanohiVahi I get that but the fact the spell bid them both together so no matter where they were in the world they could always find each other, dont forget either spell was placed on them because of her foolishness before hand
One more story about Yen not caring for ordinary people from the books. Geralt was taking a bath and Yen wanted him to get ready. He got out and she magically took the water and threw it out the window to land on some poor guy. Geralt commented about it and she just dismissed it as not a big deal.
That was in A Shard Of Ice, a story where Yennefer from beginning to end acts even worse than she normally does. She has absolutely zero redeeming qualities in that story.
I don't know about the english version, but Yennefer actually calls her ugly in the german one as a direct reference to the fairytale "the ugly duckling", which I always understood to be a reference to Ciri feeling out of place like the duckling in the fairytale who was called "ugly" because no one realised it's actually a swan. It was a nickname with a deeper meaning, showing that Yennefer always saw her as something special and it's understandable that the meaning may be lost on people who don't know the fairytale. Sapkowski references a ton of germanic fairytales in his work. Emhyr's curse, Renfri's story, even Yennefer, all of them are based on germanic fairytales.
That's actually kinda cool. In Polish, Yen calls Ciri "brzydulka" which, while having the connotation to the word "ugly", is a really sweet and caring way of saying it. Like when mother talks to her child. I've always hated the English translation for this, making people hate Yen for no reason while the idiot translator is at fault there
I don't know that much about Witcher's books, but I don't think Sapkowski based those characters on germanic fairytales, rather Slavic ones. In original books "brzydulka" has nothing to do with "the ugly duckling" ("Brzydkie kaczątko"). To be honest my parents call their grandchildren: "słodziaki" (sweeties), "ślicznoty" (beauties), but also "robaczki" (little bugs), "brzydale" (uglies) :D .....and it is not cause they are mad/angry with them, but it is that level of love, that whatever they say kids can feel grandparents mean "we love you sooo much". Maybe it is a Polish thing....... 😅 It is more important not what you say, but how you say it!
@@allespomidores2845 I'm sure that's true! But he really did base a lot of stories on Grimm's and Andersen's fairytales. Snow White, The Little Mermaid, The Snow Queen, Beauty and the Beast, Hans my Hedgehog and many more. Many legends and inspirations are drawn from Scandinavian and in general northern mythology, even scottish as well as germanic and slavic. He included a lot of stuff. The Wild Hunt is described in northern german/dutch tales and is subject of one of Goethe's most famous poems.
I think she is like this because of the abuse she suffered when she was deformed. Ppl who were hurt this much cannot trust in others and never beleive they can be loved (even if the circumstances change like Yen being beautiful and powerful now). Being rude is also a defence mechanism to alianate ppl. These traits make them the 'toxic partner' all commenters are complaining about. But Geralt is a piece of cake too. He does not know caring love. His mother left him and then no-one expressed love towards him properly while he grew up. So when he later experiences (e.g. the bard girl in the books or Triss), he cannot accept the warm love and care and he is drawn to a person who often refuses him and treats him badly because this is the only way he has ever experienced love. So I think their relationship is realistic from a psychological point of view.
@@agentj3627 Apart from Witcher 3, Yennefer was never invited to Kaer Morhen. Also, it was one of the only things that she kinda respected. Vesemir, Lambert and Eskel absolutely despised her as a human being, at least in books. And remember, only them, Geralt and Ciri knew the exact way to the castle. They despised her because they've seen what this relationship was doing to Geralt.
The scene where she teleports him over the sea was too much. When I had to run back to her to complete the quest, I was literally afraid she would do it again if I said the wrong thing. The distance from the shore to her room was no joke.
She only does that when you piss her off though, she gives you at least 3 chances in that conversation to end it before it gets to that point and only does it if you keep pushing her. Justified if you ask me
And maybe he is, lets think about him, he just want to save the people of his world after Auberon refuse to do it, so you cant blame a person (elf) for do what ever it takes to save his own kind. In others words "the end justifies the means"
Well that's because there's a lot of truth in this particular comedy. Obviously the stuff nitpicking her pronunciation of stuff is just silly humor but a lot of the points about her being extremely disagreeable to people in general and of her behavior towards Geralt in particular are pretty much spot on. Other characters throughout the game talk about how badly she treats him. It really seems to be only Geralt himself who doesn't see it. I don't hate Yen as much as some people who want there to be an option to sell her out to the witch hunters or anything like that but I do think her and Geralt's relationship is toxic and there's no reason he should stay with her given that he has other options.
@@nickstv3824 Yes and no. Mostly no. I'm a big fan of the books, and what I like about the franchise is that everyone is just awful. Everyone is a terrible person but only because of the world they live in is far far worse. Ciri tends to be selfish, a little entitled, hot headed, narcissistic, and for some people it's a big turn off. In the books, Ciri is a "child of destiny." A girl who exists to only do what she was destined to do and the entire universe is set on ensuring it. She spends the books fighting this fate, struggling to find just a sliver of independence and freedom from it, all while being a under 15 years old. During this, she gets the absolute shit kicked out of her both physically and emotionally. In the game you'll see a red rose tattooed on her inner left thigh. It's a reference to the book Baptism of Fire. Its an old love/messed up relationship that ends horrifically. That part of her life is just one example of several. Part of this fate thing, is that she is cursed romantically. Any relationship or romantic affection she shows towards anyone, that person dies, sometimes immediately. The actual lore based reason for this curse is kind of fascinating. All in all, her behavior that brings out many negatives, is completely understandable. What makes her so great, is despite being the universe's punching bag, she still actively works to maintain her kindness and loyalty. It's almost a form of rebellion in itself. This theme of her independence carries over into the games. The Witcher games takes place several years after the books. They're an unofficial sequel. The only thing I don't like about the games, is they're too clean. Too bright, colorful and too fantastical. The books are disgusting, gritty and very real. It's literally medieval Europe that suddenly had magic and monsters introduced. The books are very reminiscent of The Last of Us in its world building. This is an aspect the show nails perfectly.
@@nickstv3824 just enjoy the game, it is THE masterpiece! Be careful about your choices tho, u could end up with the sad ending and you will end up scarred for life!
@@Centuries_of_Nope that was so well said, you’ve genuinely inspired me to finally get back into reading the books! @@nikich340 "Triss, you already had tried to be her in witcher 1 and our semi-adopted son grew up into genocidal maniac while you and Shani were arguing about who is worthy of my third sword."
Yennefer is the kind of person who would walk right into your house, toss out your furniture and tell you to do stuff for her while she moves all her stuff in. I know this because that's exactly what she does to Kaer Morhen and vehemently refuses to converse on their level without a great deal of coersion. She places herself so high on a pedestal that she barely acknowledges the other witchers existence unless she needs something from them. You wouldn't tolerate that kind of behavior from anyone else, why the hell would you tolerate it from her?
I mean... considering she did none of that when she moved in with Geralt in Touissant. She moved herself in without Geralt’s help so... Also she threw the bed out cause Geralt and Triss slept on it so understandably that piece of furniture makes her mad. Also I don’t get why folks are so upity that she’s trying to get people to get to work. Ciri’s life is on the line and time is precious. Once Ciri is found you can see how Yen is legit much more chill and cooperative. Such as when Ciri and Geralt went to kill the elf dude that killed Vesemir. She supported Geralt’s decision to go with her. Or even adding her own little contribution to destroying Ciri’s supposed elf friend’s room. She’s stressed cause her child is in danger, duh. Not shut up and get to work.
I would kinda tolerate it if she is desperate to find MY child that is hunted by an fucking "medevial biker gang" that could catch her every fuckin moment.
To be fair she’s spent the past few months searching for Ciri (who I assume Yennifer sees as her child) and was close to finding her so the fact she’s kinda uptight about things especially concerning her adopted child never bothered me much
She's in a desperate search for her daughter, about to submit some monster that she genuinely believes could be her daughter to one of the worst things imaginable, has a stupid bed that is constantly reminding her of how her boyfriend/husband cheated on her, and to top it off none of the guys trust her, nor do they respect her. The fuck did you expect?
So to be honest, Yennefer in the game so far seems spot on for how she is in the book. Strong, independent, and at times cruel. I will say however that Geralt our Witcher is very different in the books and not nearly as nice as you can make him be in the game. Finally, in the books it's made clear that these are two lovers that are centuries old, and at times many decades have passed before they see each other again (Yennefer herself admitting to having fallen in love a few times, not some random fling.) Yet, against all odds this couple keeps finding eachother again, making out, getting pissed, breaking up rinse and repeat but they do raise Ciri.
Acctually, i do think Geralt was damn good adapted. The part of being a good guy is just because it is an RPG, man. Yen is cruel, almost all the time. Triss is, in games, a better version of book Triss. - Book: insecure, friend and can easily be manipulated. - Games: not so insecure, romantic partner, can manipulate discretly and brave.
It’s not against odds, he literally wished to be tied to her to save her life from a Djinn. They will quite literally always find each other again, it’s a matter of time.
To be honest, Yennefer is a bitch, but and theres a big but and she isnt that cruel, not by the standards of Sapkowskis world . Other sorcereses, including Triss are not that different either. They have for the longest time been given the last word in courts, lawmaking, kingmaking, politics, intrigue etc etc....Yennefer is considered kind of neutral good next to the likes of Philippa Eilhart, Vilgefortz and others. Its just what comes with the job I guess, but all sorcerers in this universe have a particular god complex pattern of behaviour.
@@cycomiles4225 In the books there's a point be made that both Yennefer AND Geralt are flawed people, however upon meeting Ciri and having to care for her they start to change. Geralt becomes less of a broody philosopher and Yen has someone someone she cares about more than her own life. Both have issues but their love for Ciri causes them to grow and in some ways mature.
1- he arrives too late. 2- he's stuck behind the fence again. 3- he's actually a she. 4- she is in the house somehow. 5- not inside the house, she is in the walls of the house. 6- she can't descend mountains but can scale them with ease after you call. 1 redeeming quality, I'm sure she struck a deal with O'dimm to become the demon she is.
She is. Came 6th in this year's Grand National - despite a +100 stamina racing saddle - most bookmakers only paid up on the top 5 places Yes, the jockey was a 100-year-old old fart with long flowing white hair and two swords on his back ... but I expected a better showing than this! "Righteous Roach" owes me £50 - she should be banned from racing as a "non-tryer" [which is when horse trainers deliberately make their horse lose, so that they'll get long odds in the next race, and make a killing]
As someone who just recently finished the witcher 3, i was bewitched by Yenns looks. I avoided Triss but then throughout the game Yenn was a bitch, lol. I really liked Shanti though.
@@kostiantynchomakov3077 She really doesnt and she is partially lifting the genies spell to allow Geralt to be free of her as well, though maybe thats not as clear to someone who never read the books. Additionally at the end she basically gives up everything that defined her until then, which is being a sorceress and doing politics to ask geralt to go far far away and just be together. She may be a bit short tempered at times, but she is desperately searching for ciri while at the same time trying to save her fellow sorceresses who are getting slaughtered in the north, so maybe we can give her a bit of leeway here that she isnt super nice all the time.
The Mmhm bit was so funny. One of my pet peeves is when voice actors aren't corrected on their mispronunciations. Sometimes they're not even consistent so you have people in the one game refer to something differently because whoever is in charge of the voice actors is too damn lazy to tell them when they've got it wrong.
Yennifer is the perfect archetype for every beautiful, high status woman who's had a rough childhood. I've met far too many women like this. Andrzej Sapkowski nailed this beautiful, unsatisfied woman archetype!
The only good romance option for Geralt is Shani from the Hearts of Stone DLC who is independent but years him with respect. Both Yen and Triss are awful.
I don't understand how you expect someone, who deals with monsters on a daily basis, to want a normal regular boring relationship. Yen is the most powerful, intelligent and capable woman around. She doesn't need Geralt at all. I can imagine how these would make Geralt crazy about her. And Geralt himself is cold, sarcastic and cheating, too. So it's only natural for him to fall for Yennefer.
That's the point tho. Yen never said she was the shit. Geralt could always see past all those layers of her terrible personality and she does in her own way love Geralt.
And Geralt isn't perfect either, he can't communicate with her, be honest about his feelings. And Geralt isn't really a catch as well. He is (or was at some point before yen changed outlook) convinced he would die on the road (like most witchers do), was loney, cynical and just generally living a crap life.
Oh my God. The idea that you can get passed the layers of a sociopath has got to be the most fantastical story of all in the Witcher. Not even dragons can hope to reach the heights of this kind of imaginative thinking. 😂
Here's the saddest part - Yennifer being such a terrible person makes almost perfect sense given her tortured background. Yennifer became hostile to everyone and incredibly cautious of anyone who showed sincere interest in her as a character after her early experiences. She made decisions based on bad information and uncertainty, and as a result even the things that she was in control of resulted in pain. So, we have Geralt who comes in and inexplicably wants to help her and she responds with hostility and caution. He hurts her with his actions later, (unintentionally and unknowingly), and therein confirms all the things she thought about the shitty world she sees. Then, he wishes in an effort to save her and she sees it as a reason to question the feelings that they have for one another. The character of Yennifer quite literally has no reason in her eyes to act differently or be positive about the world's place towards her.
@@C0wb0yBebop ikr I always prefer Triss when it comes to romance options, and even though they both are pretty bad people in the books at least Triss in the games had a somewhat proper character development.

Geralt: ghosts Yen, sleeps with Triss, relies on Triss for help with ciri and only contacts Yen with a shitty letter that explains nothing and isnt even apologizing properly. Yen: Drops everything and trains and raises Ciri like her own daughter. Community: "Yen is such a bish why would Geralt want to be with her" Ehmm...
I always hated that part in the game when Geralt just wasn't in the mood and instead of being a normal person and going "Okay, that's fine, another time", Yennefer just goes "STOP!" and walks off like she's super upse and offended, acting like Geralt is the bad guy and she is the victim. It's toxic and manipulative and so disgusting

Triss is the best. Played Witcher for the first time last year, when I first met Yennefer in Vizima i was shocked. THATs the person people are so in love with? And they hate this charming red-haired woman who shows nothing but humility and apologizes for something I didnt even know she did in a previous game? By the eternal fire, who would ever choose Yen over Triss in W3?
@@Serryy Triss literally lied to Geralt for a year just to be with him knowing very well he would take off for Yen+Ciri once he knew. Yen is sometimes over the top and dislikeable, but Triss is basically a manipulative bish who took advantage of Geralts memory loss just because she was jelous of what he had with Yen. In the books she always says its just a desire for him as well, not actual love. If she was really in love with him then maybe that would be somewhat understandable.
@@LunnarisLP I was specifically talking about Witcher 3. I haven't read any books nor played previous games (I tried out W2 but the controls felt terrible and it was hard to get used to the game after playing W3) so it really doesn't matter how she's characterized in other media. At least it doesn't matter to me. In W3 Triss feels genuine guilt for her actions, she's charming and selfless. Yen is incredibly toxic, blames Geralt for his amnesia and lashes out when he doesn't want to sleep with her. Not to mention her behaviour in Skellige and Kaer Morhen, when she manages to treat others even worse than she treats Geralt. Might be that she's an awesome character outside of W3 but what does that matter when the subject is W3?
On my first playtrough, having zero knowledge about The Witcher’s lore or the characters, I knew from the first time I saw Yennefer she was a detestable person with a nasty personality. I really don’t get what Geralt sees in her, he’s a fool.
She's beautiful and smart, and Geralt had a VERY messed-up childhood with no proper mother figure to give him an idea of what a good woman is like. I would imagine most witchers have poor taste in women.
having a messed up past, and panicing without having the optimism that geralt has most of the time, i'm pretty sure she can be forgived for being rude and all that, and the skjall necromancy thing? thats different. she doesn't have a nasty personality, she just gets shit done, when she has shit to do, didn't you see the blood and wine ending? she's just relaxing and chilling instead of being as usual, thats because she's free of work.
Geralt is a Yennefer simp, basically. Might as well ask what any simp sees in the object of their affection. The woman in question is never as perfect as the simp thinks she is.
She's just nasty on the outside, but more committed to Geralt in reality than Triss. I find this kinda hilarious in real life too, a lot of people cling onto people who are seemingly kind and trustworthy, but actually anything but under the surface. Superficiality is a sad thing.

@@anjasapriadi That’s cause it’s not that serious whatsoever 😂 Yen is a genuinely problematic character, but that’s essentially what makes her such a favorite and so beloved. When you bring in only the problematic stuff a character does it makes them appear like the villain but Yen has many layers to her character. She’s harsh on the outside but genuinely soft and yearning to love on the inside. The game nor other characters make light of her harshness. So not only is the game self aware, they still make her and Geralt’s chemistry genuine and her contribution to finding Ciri could only be done by someone like her. Plus it’s not like you as Geralt can’t do fucked up shit in the game from killing stray pets in towns to letting soldiers rape a woman to letting Whoreson live. The world in which this is set in is not a Disney movie, it’s messed up. Triss herself is extremely messed up too. She fucked her best friends man and lied to him for a long time by refusing to tell him about his true love and adoptive child. Heck it’s rape by that point given Geralt under the right mind never wanted to be with Triss or fuck her. Not to mention the other things she’s done in the books to Geralt and Ciri. The problem is the game barely highlights the horrible things she did and makes her all super sweet baby when in reality she’s kind of a bitch. She just hides it better. She’s very two faced and when you legit see how she plays the cards you can see how she is pretty manipulative even in game. Again, she just hides it. At least when Yen doesn’t tell Geralt what she’s doing she doesn’t hide the fact that what she’s doing may be controversial. But she does it for Ciri’s sake and manages to get important info every time. Granted I semi get why they didn’t say anything more on Triss’s actions. Yen is Geralt’s true love, they have better chemistry, shes more involved in the main storyline of the game so you interact with her more, she’s part of the family dynamic with Geralt and Ciri, she’s roughly Geralt’s age, they both retire after the game whereas Triss wants to be involved in politics, I could go on. Basically if the game comments on Triss’s actions the game would feel one sided in terms of romance option. And most RPG’s more often than not want to avoid doing such.
From my POV, books Yennefer is exactly the kind of character to be rude and insult everyone, be extremely selfish, ruin and use people, and then sacrifice herself for ones she cares about. That's what happened at Striga Castle (I believe it was that name). Game Yen is much more down to earth I think. BTW Happy April fool's day XD
Everyone who read the books knows that Yennefer is simply toxic and a bad person. Not gonna like, when i was playing Witcher 2 and got the ending (at first try) where we get the info that same as Geralt, Yen is back, i was like "OH SHIT!". I was trying to give her benefit of the doubt. I was actually TRYING to get her point of view. BUT 2 things i cannot look past are: 1. After all the things that happened in the Saga, getting on Emhyr's payroll is like a slap to the face from her, to EVERYONE that took part in the Saga. 2. The final straw was the necromancy part. After that i simply could not force myself to play the "Yen's line" anymore. Even Vilgefortz and Sorel Degerlund did not use necromancy and have seen it as an abomination. High Vampires see it as something evil. Azar Javed did not use it, despite having resources to do so. The only character in the games that used it apart of Yennefer is Detmold. And even considering that Detmold was a twisted and despisable, he still had second thoughts.
Masochists everywhere. In the current game through, I tried, I really tried to make Yen my love interest, but Triss's willingness to sacrifice herself in Menge's dungeon to help finding Ciri, I couldn't resist. While Yen was working with Emhyr for months and didn't even think of contacting Geralt! The woman can jump from space to space and locate people with a spell, was too busy to tell Geralt where she is and what's new about Ciri. It's a toxic relationship full of "trust me" then mocking him and doing horrible things, like necromancy.
The Menge situation might have been a true act of self sacrifice but it was probably driven by guilt for, you know, selling Ciri to a circlejerk of mad women
Book Yen is like a child waiting for christmas when she was waiting for Geralt to tell her that he loves her. Not sure if she could have said it first herselft. Maybe she didnt wanna pressure things because she read it in his thoughts already anyway, which is to be fair the one thing she needs to stop doing...
And yet doesn't want you to move on. Just wants to keep using you. (Edit for clarification: I've personally not had a relationship like that. I just read too much)
Triss was risking her life to save strangers and was willing to allow herself to be tortured to help geralt, while yennifer refused to get help geralt save her friends life because she didn't want her boots to get dirty!
Shani is like the first woman geralt is banging in the books as well I think (at least where it is explicitly said). In TW3 Triss seems to be the easy choice until you actually think about how much she lied to be with you the past ~12 months when you had your memory loss..
I've always hated Yennifer, specifically starting with the scene of them talking his relationship with Triss while having amnesia. Oh and her excessive used of the word Excuses.
The only prominent character the game got right in my eyes is Geralt. By that I mean he is far suerior to his book version, which I honestly found unlikable. Yennefer on another hand suffers from same syndrom that Isengrim dodged in second game. A.k.a. CDPR acting as if character development in books never happened. To explain: In TW2 devs wanted Isengrim in the game. However, they had enough sense to realize that wouldn't make any sense so they literally renamed Isengrim to Iorveth and called it a "new" character. If we look at Iorveth we can easily conclude that if devs went with their original plan (Isengrim), they would completely ignore HIS development in books and revert him to his base state. This is literally what they did to Yennefer. They removed any development between her and Geralt and reverted her back to base a.k.a. her being a huge ice-cold c*nt. This is a woman who sacrificed herself for Geralt and Ciri without thinking twice, enduring torture, and CDPR is trying to sell me some ice-cold queen that barely has any scenes with Ciri, or acts still like that with Geralt? Ah, yes. Instead have Triss wank, a character who SOLD both Ciri and Geralt to Lodge, and Ciri trusting Avallac'h of all people the most. A man who forced her to get R'd for magical baby, threatened to experiment on her, lied to her about letting her go if she gets child because in reality he wanted to make his experiment dream come true (probably would experiment on child too). Also... Tired to kill her, among many other "nice" things, yet this is a man she trusts most? More than even Yennefer and Geralt, her parent figures? Imagine if FF7 had a line in which Cloud puts more trust in Hojo than Tifa. This is literally what CDPR did with Ciri/Avallac'h in game. They even gave her random crush on this disgusting man (she had crush on Eredin, by the way), when real Ciri only ever wanted was to crush his disgusting head! Terrible. Although Dijkstra and Radovid win terrible Olympics because nobody got done dirty as them. TL;DR: TW3 was an abomination when it came to its characters.

Him pulling "me or your bro" card out in open is the dumbest thing TW3 pulled, and it pulled a lot of dumb crap. The fact that this was coming from a character who is meant to be extremely smart... Made it all the worse.
Your FF7 analogy is spot on because Avallach is basically elven Hojo. Which is what makes me confused. Just which creepy ass employer at CDPR read these books and thought: Yea. I can see Ciri trusting this man. Even having crush on him. I find this duo absolute appalling. Hell, I'd sooner buy into good guy Eredin than good guy Avallach. At least Eredin, as sketchy as he is, has survival of his kind in my mind. Meanwhile, Avallach is just salty old disgusting elf who is eternally butthurt that Lara preferred a filthy human over his creepy ass. I dare saying that Avallach is easily the most despicable character you can find, yet this is the dude CDPR simped for enough to redeem his ass? Forget me sooner believing in good guy Eredin, I'd sooner believe mad version of Radovid if he organized charity work for sorceress than Avallach being a guy that CDPR tried to sell him as in this game. That bastard was absolutely disgusting and the only thing he deserved was silver sword through his neck for everything that he did.
@@uptuutxtgt219 i wouldn't say Avallac'h was the greatest evil in books, or even the most disgusting character, but he certainly was one of the most disturbing ones. Especially because his character ironically felt most human. While Emhyr and those like him only desired power for their mustache twirling, Avallach was really just a spiteful man filled with hatred. Which is why he works as excellent villain. However, that's a keyword here. A VILLAIN! Him being "good" guy that deserves redemption? Absolutely not. In fact, devs shot themselves in the foot when they picked Eredin and The Wild Hunt as the end game instead of Avallac'h. Almost all problems that went down can be related to said Avallac'h. Geralt not being able to find Ciri on time is thanks to Avallac'h honking Geralt by the nose. How Avallac'h wasn't the true final villain after he was the main cause of what happened back then is beyond me.

I like Vesemirs comment over Yennefer in the "killing monsters" comic
Geralt: "I dreamed.. Of her. Yen. But it felt so real... Could she been there, teleported perhaps?"
Vesemir: "Was she good to you?"
Geralt: "... Yes." (it was a sex dream, surprise)
Vesemir: "Believe me.
One more story about Yen not caring for ordinary people from the books. Geralt was taking a bath and Yen wanted him to get ready. He got out and she magically took the water and threw it out the window to land on some poor guy. Geralt commented about it and she just dismissed it as not a big deal.
Of course, she's better than the ordinary folk :)
That was in A Shard Of Ice, a story where Yennefer from beginning to end acts even worse than she normally does. She has absolutely zero redeeming qualities in that story.
To be honest, back in medieval times, people would regularly throw the contents of their chamber pots onto the streets all willy-nilly.
I thought that was funny though. The guy in the street completely goes off 😆
Thats make her more attractive to me. Dont know why tho
I've always hated the English translation for this, making people hate Yen for no reason while the idiot translator is at fault there
I’ve heard of that sorry before. Isn’t it called The Ugly Duckling?
It is more important not what you say, but how you say it!
Before I read the novel, I hated her. But after I read the novel, I hated her even more.

"Ciri is the worst character."

Is ciri really bad? Im asking cuz i have just gotten into the witcher 3 recently. Also havent watch any movie or read book about witcher

Trish also is worse than Yennefer
Exactly Triss is worse
Not shut up and get to work.
because she's likely to kill you in some horrible way for upsetting her? but for real she is the worst.

Don’t make excuses for her bro

@@Serryy Triss literally lied to Geralt for a year just to be with him knowing very well he would take off for Yen+Ciri once he knew.
Yen is sometimes over the top and dislikeable, but Triss is basically a manipulative bish who took advantage of Geralts memory loss just because she was jelous of what he had with Yen. In the books she always says its just a desire for him as well, not actual love. If she was really in love with him then maybe that would be somewhat understandable.
@@LunnarisLP I was specifically talking about Witcher 3. In W3 Triss feels genuine guilt for her actions, she's charming and selfless. Yen is incredibly toxic, blames Geralt for his amnesia and lashes out when he doesn't want to sleep with her.

@@anjasapriadi That’s cause it’s not that serious whatsoever 😂
Yen is a genuinely problematic character, but that’s essentially what makes her such a favorite and so beloved.
BUT 2 things i cannot look past are:
The necromancy had surely no justification, like saving your child?
The Menge situation might have been a true act of self sacrifice but it was probably driven by guilt for, you know, selling Ciri to a circlejerk of mad women
Thanks for the info. I just started the triss quest on novrigad .-.

She mind reads you and when you tell her to stop she implies you have secrets. Truly the worst.
"once he says he loves her, she rejects him"
Yen: "I love you too"
Like watchu mean
Book Yen is like a child waiting for christmas when she was waiting for Geralt to tell her that he loves her. Not sure if she could have said it first herselft. Maybe she didnt wanna pressure things because she read it in his thoughts already anyway, which is to be fair the one thing she needs to stop doing...
She kinda like abusive ex girlfriend who don't want to break up with you and never care about your feelings either.
And yet doesn't want you to move on. Just wants to keep using you. (Edit for clarification: I've personally not had a relationship like that. I just read too much)

Oh you! I remember the Ciri one.
it took me seven minutes to get the joke. i was even complaining about how nitpicky some of your points were. god i’m a dumbass
TL;DR: TW3 was an abomination when it came to its characters.
how did the do sigi dirty?
@@AxxLAfriku Hint: "Hey, Geralt! Wanna be apart of my team? Let me kill your bro here. Also... I came here in person." - the supposed master spy.
If he wanted Roche gone, he would've eliminated him behind shadows, making it seem as if it was his opposition instead so he can get Geralt's support for sure.
This is why I don't read the lore.
