I'm on a tight budget but want a quality lens. Samyang 75mm f1.8 and TTArtisan's 75mm f2 are similar in price. Which one to choose? Appreciate the convenience of an aperture ring. TTArtisan's 75mm f2 seems like a good option.
Cheers man. The 35 2.8 and 75 1.8 combo for the a7rii is perfect for travel photography. So compact and unobtrusive to easily get high quality natural photos
Nice another great review :D I wish they would make a 16mm E-mount version in this size for Sony's APS-C line up. I need a compact semi wide for my a6300 :). BTW where is that picture taken @ 1:06
That would be something! Let's see if they make something like that in the future. That's a place in the Philippines, Bohol. It's called the chocolate Hills.
Hey guys! I was looking at the Samyang 75mm f1.8 but heard there’s a new TTArtisan 75mm f2 out. Anyone compared the image quality of these two? Also, that aperture ring on TTArtisan sounds handy.
Interesting, thanks! I've been holding off on their 85mm for a while because of the size / weight. I use the 24mm and I think this would be extremely complementary.
@@JohnSisonPhotography I was thinking about Samyang 18mm.f.2.8, but can now see that you have tested it, so now I have enjoyed that video! I have Samyang 18mm.f.2.8 and 45mm.f.1.8 plus 75mm.f.1.8 and it is a fantastic light and small kit to carry in my photo backpack with my Sony A9 (plus 75mm.f.1.8) and Sony A7III (plus 18mm.f.2.8) and the last lens in the small robust lens box (45mm.f.1.8) .... Cheers Jess
Hi John, I'm looking for a new lens for my A7ii for firearm/car photography. I'm looking to be able to get up close and focus on the smaller details. Thanks
Nice looking images! I really like the small form factor of these lenses but they do feel really cheap sometimes. I guess the price of this one if also around 300 USD? The 85mm f1.4 does not have that cheap feeling and that one is truly a gem
I think Samyang are trying to cover lenses where they little to no competition. Not sure if they will come out with a zoom anytime soon but you never know.
T W Why would Samyang release yet another 85mm f/1.8 for the Sony FE Mount when there's already 5 available? All of those longer focal lengths you're wishing for are covered in the FE Mount, and that's that's why this lens exists. This is a relatively small, moderately fast, short telephoto lens at a presumable low price, and no competition.
Do you have any questions about this lens and how it works with the E-mount cameras? I'll see if I can answer them in my review video coming soon!
Thanks ,I appreciate.

Man Samyang has been coming out with some really good lenses! I love the 45mm 1.8
Me too! I'm glad that I brought that with me to my Korea trip!
Wowww, samyang is so productive on e mount
Yep! They're releasing quite a few good lenses for the system!
Great stuff John - this could be a great option that price range !
I haven't seen the pricing in my country yet but for sure it's cheaper than the 85mm.
amazing lens & great value
For sure! I love it!

You are welcome man. Definitely a good combo to go along with the 35mm f2.8.
looks like a perfect pair with the tiny Sony 28mm f2. 85mm is a better pair with a 35mm . And 50 is a better pair with a 24mm)
Oo yeah! I like the sound of those combinations.
@@JohnSisonPhotography no, there's samyang 18mm f2.8 smaller wider
Micro 43 user here... Ok, Samyang will be the one that will make me pick a Sony a7 for the 45 1.8 and this lens. Great to have those options!
I love the 45mm! Going to be doing a review on that lens soon too!

How about the Zeiss Touit 12 f2.8? I have it. Works well wide angle, indoor photos. Probably too loud for video.
Fantastic job, as usual JS, thanks.
Thanks Rick! 😊 🙏

That would be a good combo. No doubt!
Finally a Sony FE mount lens that will accommodate the middle finger, yeeeeeeh!!!
Haha its about time 😅
Great video; thanks for including more of your images/video in it, made it really interesting. Perhaps your best ever vid??
Hmm best video? I don't know about that lol but great lens! 😉
thanks for your video !!!
Hope they'll also make a 135 mm f/1,8 in the future !!!! :-)
You are welcome! I hope so too! It would be amazing to see 135mm F1.8. I can't wait for that!
yea that would be awesome. i love the 35 1.4 AF spec for that price
Great review! Would you suggest this lens for a sony a6000? (APSC camera)
Yeah definitely! It would make for a great portrait/street lens.
Thank you! Can the lens hood be mounted in reversed direction for storage?
Yes it can 😊
I really need a decent Portrait lens , just switched to a full frame Sony A7riii is this lens good enough or should I save and wait ?
Hi John,
Between the Samyang 85mm f1.4 and 75mm f1.8 which one do you prefer.
Thank you
I prefer the 75mm F1.8 hands down!
@@JohnSisonPhotography and the autofocus is similar or better?
Thanks
I want more reviews of Samyangs Tiny serie, please!
Any lens you looking at in particular?

Is samyang and rokinon the same?
It really look like the sony 50 MM 1.8 on for sony APSC BODY ... Light and bokeh well done Samyang
Its a solid lens!
Hi John, I'm looking for a new lens for my A7ii for firearm/car photography. I'm looking to be able to get up close and focus on the smaller details. Thanks
You'd probably go well with the Samyang 24mm. Wide enough for cars but for firearms? Maybe a dedicated macro lens. 50mm F2.8 macro?
Nice looking images! I really like the small form factor of these lenses but they do feel really cheap sometimes. I guess the price of this one if also around 300 USD?

I know what you mean. For me, as long as they delivery on good iq at a not so extreme price, I'm happy.
This was would be a perfect comparison video with the Sony 85mm 1.8
Let's see what I can do!
1:10 Is that Chocolate Hills?
You are correct!!
Looks like a really good lens 👌🏾✨
It really is! Worth a try!
wow! new lens
Elaine!!!! It's been a while! Hope you've been well!
Thanks john
You are welcome!

Sweet
Thx for making awesome review. :)
My pleasure! 😀
Samyang has lots of primes out on the market. They need to create trinity zooms as a true contender like tamron and sigma.
I think Samyang are trying to cover lenses where they little to no competition. Not sure if they will come out with a zoom anytime soon but you never know.
Good reviews
Thanks! 🙏
Some remarks are bizarre , like mentioning that adding lens hood adds length to the lens. Really?
Sometimes I like to point out the obvious 😉
How much is it?
At the moment, I'm not too sure. I'll update with pricing in my description soon.
*Samyang 75mm 1.8 vs Samyang 85mm 1.4 vs sony 85mm 1.8*
I could possibly do one on the 85mm F1.4 and the 75mm F1.8. I'll have to see if I can get the 85mm F1.8 from somewhere hehe
Wow great..and take care
Buhol! Thanks for the review
You could tell? 😅😉 you're welcome!
... great review, Jon. 👍🏻 but 75 mm is not my focal length - I prefer 24-70 as zoom and 85, 90, 105 and 135 as primes. 🤔

Abdon Phir'athon ... yes, you are right. there is definitely no reason for another 85 prime ...
