These musicians inspire me to pick up my guitar back up and write songs again....I put them down in 1986 after I lost my first and only true love...now I am 59, they restored the music in my heart..they are wonderful, talented and very very gifted ...
I have a first and only true love too. I've been carrying her around with me in my heart for 36 years, and music seems to connect me to that world in a way nothing else does.
I have to agree with @Alden Harold Everybody likes Michigan best, you search milk carton kids, every cover is of Michigan. I will honestly say, michigan is in the bottom of my list. Hope of a Lifetime is my favorite song at the moment. The Ash & Clay is by far their best album.
Not once does Kenneth look down at his guitar to see what he's playing. What a talent they both are. Genuine music ability and musicality that has them listening so well to what each is doing and blending the sound into one.
I only discovered this duo on the radio driving home last night. I was mesmerized immediately. They are Bob Dylan, Rod McKuen, Peter, Paul and Mary, Donovan and Doug Foster combined, with their own musical HONEY, HONEY stirred in like just the right amount of Brandy in your evening coffee. And w/ a droll, dry delightful injecton of humor to entertain us and cause us to forget trouble outside the walls that protect us. May they continue ad infinitum! Thank you gentlemen. Thank you. And now I will set about trying to imitate your style and talent and skill.
So sweet harmony and playing in chords and note picking - they just know exactly how much is needed to create such eloquent sounds !!! Kudos, good sirs. Please - Play on !!!!! GBjj
Just saw them this month in Kirkland, WA - took my 15-year old daughter and she LOVED it - highly recommend their music and catching their show if they come through your area. Amazing musicians, entertaining stage presence, clean show - one of my favorite live shows ever
Oh my gosh! I* stumbled into this wonderful music and words of these two guys.. They are so GREAT! I am 70 years old---that's old, right? Maybe I/m not TOO old----because I can still hear great music from these super talented guys. Damn, they take their smart for granted. Amazing.
Perhaps we might learn something. Not you. Clearly not aimed at you. I like an English lecture . Nice to see there are a few Americans who have more than a finger hold of this language. Pray continue 🙏
My new favourite live show to listen to at work. The combination of musicianship, incredibly skilled song-writing and highbrow humour in between songs is so unique and creative. It feels like these two strip down folk music and bring it back to it's musical roots while seemingly being incredibly stylistically progressive.
Saw these guys a couple weeks ago in person, they're so great. Very interactive with the crowd, funny, and amazing musicians. I'll definitely be a fan for life.
18:43 Kenneth gives credit to Joey for his stoic rhythm and vocals. These guys are for real man, proper people playing proper music with proper intentions
Amazing and wonderful music. Listening to this show for some days in a roll. That was love from the first note! These guys are the best duo ever. Greetings from Bulgaria!
Not me thinking because I work for Taylor Guitars on the raw necks I can strum like Josh but the dude strums his shit this session like it's his fifth limb, absolute kings ❤️
Joey reminds me of Buster Keaton. Check the banter right between Michigan and Snake Eyes. How can he keep his face straight while being so hilarious, talking about typography, ligatures and stuff. They are great musicians, very happy to have found them thanks to an NPR Tiny Desk session. Lucky lucky audience here...
We were watching the movie 'Promised Land' , in which these guys did a couple of the songs, including 'Ash and Clay'. Had to find out more about them, and we're so glad we did find them here ! I'm sure there will be much more from them. They're fantastic.
I saw the guys in September 2013 in Groningen, the Netherlands. It was a great gig. It's a show like S&G and the Everly Bros in the early days. The voices and the music is GREAT. I enjoy this DVD. Come back to the Netherlands
This concert is definitely the best performance I’ve heard in any video with them. I prefer this concert to the actual recordings of the songs I listen to it all the time. Such a good vibe love these guys and how they vibe with each other live
Just discover them today through NPR Music and then this. Absolutely in love with them. And the humor takes the beautiful music only a notch higher. In fact it can't get better than this.
Heard them first last year on the NPR Broadcast from the Newport Folk Festival It has been fun to watch them grow and mature. This is a joy to see. Wonderful music. Hope to see them in concert some day
In these days of concussion protocol and the other adverse affects and consequences of competitive activities, perhaps encouraging our children to master a musical instrument like these very impressive guys (Kenneth at least) would bring lifetime joy to their lives. I'm thankful I was introduced to this "group", as their talent for music and humorous conversational banter is truly refreshing.
I've seen many comments saying these guys are heavily lacking in the originality department and I've gotta disagree. Yes, although they clearly draw from influences like Simon and Garfunkel and maybe the Everly Brothers, I think its also evident that these guys bring much of their own to the table; more than enough to justify the similarities. These guys boast incredibly intricate songwriting skills and god damn are they funny. I discovered these guys from their Tiny Desk concert and I'm really glad I did.
Captivating and impressive performance from true musicians. Close harmonies like the Everly Brothers but the songs - they're MORE. The humorous comments had me thinking of the Smothers Brothers --and I know that isn't quite right either - but ... I happened upon Milk Carton Kids because the antirecords youtube channel also has a video of Mavis Staples and Jeff Tweedy. A very happy accident!
Thanks to #PhilipBowen, I found these guys. So very reminiscent of Simon and Garfunkle harmonies -love them!. If you havent heard him, his fiddle would be an amzing addition to this duo ..or just listened to on its' own.
would anybody tell me what are they talking about in 42:00 ? it's like an interesting conversation between them and the audiences but i can't understand since my english isn't good enough :(
This is one of the most perfectly recorded things I've ever heard - hats off to the audio engineers that worked on this!
These musicians inspire me to pick up my guitar back up and write songs again....I put them down in 1986 after I lost my first and only true love...now I am 59, they restored the music in my heart..they are wonderful, talented and very very gifted ...
rebecca - very sweet post. good for you - it's always wonderful to open up that case again. Sing it!
you play away rebecca let the world hear your song!!!
I wrote some of my best songs (not nearly as good as these) when I was sad or depressed. great therapy.
I have a first and only true love too. I've been carrying her around with me in my heart for 36 years, and music seems to connect me to that world in a way nothing else does.
I'm also 59, and just picked up the mandocello to learn it. Wish me luck! ;-)
is Michigan the best and most beautiful chorus of all time? probably
I like hope of a lifetime, stealing romance and girls gather round much more.
Sayan Mukherjee well that’s silly
Might just be, Alden... Might just be.
I don't know, playing a song with that title in Columbus , Ohio.
Not once does Kenneth look down at his guitar to see what he's playing. What a talent they both are. Genuine music ability and musicality that has them listening so well to what each is doing and blending the sound into one.
Yes, it's like the guitar is a part of his body.
I didn't notice that. That's crazy!
I only discovered this duo on the radio driving home last night. I was mesmerized immediately. I really like these guys. Great harmonies and that little Martin has about the best intonation of any guitar I've seen.
How could anyone possibly dislike this?
Lactose intolerant people.
I agree, but then again there were 74 million people who voted for YOU KNOW WHO
@@rgg2727 Gosh people like you are just the worst - enjoy the music and leave your self-righteousness out of it
So sweet harmony and playing in chords and note picking - they just know exactly how much is needed to create such eloquent sounds !!! Kudos, good sirs. Please - Play on !!!!! GBjj
This is some seriously high quality stuff. There's not much out there these days that gets my attention, but this definitely does.
Just saw them this month in Kirkland, WA - took my 15-year old daughter and she LOVED it - highly recommend their music and catching their show if they come through your area. Amazing musicians, entertaining stage presence, clean show - one of my favorite live shows ever

these kids are amazing. they got their album free to download, prologue and retrospect at their website. Respect.
I am so deeply in love with the song "Michigan". Thank you!
Why is Joey giving an English lecture in the middle of a concert the funniest thing I have ever seen?
That shit was hilarious.
Perhaps we might learn something. Not you. Clearly not aimed at you. I like an English lecture . Nice to see there are a few Americans who have more than a finger hold of this language. Pray continue 🙏

Such an incredible perfomance and Music is not the only wonderful thing they know how to deliver Their humor is ferocious !
I'm exactly six years late to the party. I guess that's better than never.
Saw these guys a couple weeks ago in person, they're so great. Very interactive with the crowd, funny, and amazing musicians. I'll definitely be a fan for life.
I saw these guys in Nashville a few years ago and just 5 days ago in 2023! They’re so great. Their humor is superb and the harmonies are amazing.
Bewitching, honest and beautiful.
They are amazing. Like a cross between Swan and Flanders and Simon and Garfunkel! Dry humor and superb musicianship.
This is just wholly marvelous.
Amazing song plus added bonus of comedy! Brilliant
18:43 Kenneth gives credit to Joey for his stoic rhythm and vocals. These guys are for real man, proper people playing proper music with proper intentions
I can watch this video for the rest of my life. Most popular music is forgotten with 2 years. Real music lives on forever.
A really great performance by two talented young men. Great harmony and some solid Hot Pickin.
I listen to this in its entirety a few times a month. I can't get enough!
Oohhhhh lovely quality...... delicious delicious picture and colour... okay I'm spending the entire coronavirus lockdown watching this video.
Incredible artists, just discovering them for the first time. Blown away!
The best thing I've heard in a very long time. Hope these guys stay together for ever.
Amazing and wonderful music. Listening to this show for some days in a roll. That was love from the first note! These guys are the best duo ever. Greetings from Bulgaria!
Tickets bought for January, London, Union Chapel. Cant wait!!!!
+Harvey Morris It's today! I can't wait either!
+James Pitt Just seen this and I am gutted I love these guys
Saw them at a 250 seat church hall in Vancouver. Incredibly talented, pure and natural voices and superb song writing.
Washington or BC? PNW either way and I can't wait until they come to the Seattle area. Cheers!
@@joem7572 Vancouver BC. St. Andrews church hall. AA meeting in the basement at the same time. June 12, 2013.
love the music very much. I especially love the monologues in between.
Not me thinking because I work for Taylor Guitars on the raw necks I can strum like Josh but the dude strums his shit this session like it's his fifth limb, absolute kings ❤️
I've come back to listen to this concert in its entirety several times. The talent, the quality, the banter... It's all unbelievably enjoyable.
It doesn't get much better than this.
It sure is!
Quite quite True Brother... Jus soooo very Listenable....
Kinda feel like they're the modern Everly Brothers, tho I do hate Myself for saying that...!
They are old-souls that sound like a modern Simon and Garfunkel!
7;&;&
Priceless
If they could just play or just sing...but damn, they put it all together in a surprisingly incredible way.
holy shit, how am I only discovering these guys now?!? Absolutely blown away - first class! Instantly my new favourite :)
I wasn't even aware I needed this right now.

I often come here, absolutely fantastic!

Snake eyes puts me in tears

They bring back fond memories of the Smothers Brothers.
Beautiful, hilarious and magical.
This is an amazing performance :)
Argentina needs The Milk Carton Kids....thanks guys!
masterpiece, including the comentaries performance between the songs
Just discover them today through NPR Music and then this. Absolutely in love with them. And the humor takes the beautiful music only a notch higher. In fact it can't get better than this.
This pops up some hidden memories from long ago, somewhere hidden inside between my head and the rest of my body. Great musicians and great music
I think these guys are about everything I love in music! I too have this show on repeat and it never fails to make me smile, laugh and cry.
Yep, Simon & Garfunkel for sure, maybe Gillian Welch & David Rawlings as well...pretty frickin good company if you ask me. Keep it up please.
Oh Man, oh man! Thanks for the music
Such a perfect concert. Thanks guys.
One of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen/heard/etc
Heard them first last year on the NPR Broadcast from the Newport Folk Festival It has been fun to watch them grow and mature. This is a joy to see. Wonderful music. Hope to see them in concert some day

World class talent.
Their deadpan humor is awesome. Great music, great lyrics, an hour well spent. Note the smile at: ruclips.net/video/gL8eBrhVTJ4/видео.htmlm42s
Marvelous! I've surely discovered some fabulous music during this difficult time. Yes, they do remind me of young Simon and Garfunkel.
They are incredible...
The comparison to Dave Rawlings brought me here and wow, Kenneth is totally channelling Dave with the solos! That's quite amazing! Great duo!
Lucy saved the day with her notary stamp!
Girls gather 'round.
Perfection. This IS music!
Saw them a week ago. 4/26/19 GREAT SHOW. New Album is great. New Band is great.
Pure talent. Great songwriters
Talented and hilarious.
清廉にしてほろ苦い歌。完璧なハーモニー、アコギの魅力を感じさせてくれます。1,960年台にタイムスリップしたい。アメリカの音楽の懐の深さを感じさせてくれます。感謝、感激!
Such talent is hard to come across these days.
Can't wait for your show in Montreal this coming May!
Absolutely awesome!
So talented.. and funny too! Love TMCK
These guys are a modern day Simon and Garfunkle meet the Smothers Brothers... Really dig it...
They just love being on stage.
Holy sh*t. This is incredible. Thank you for sharing.
I want to know if Kenneth got his notary!
