I am 74 years old, and I have always bemoaned the fact that I was not born Simon AND Garfunkle. Listening to this duo made me weep for days past. Their harmony, in particular, is so reminiscent of the height of the folk era and Simon and Garfunkle. I have become a huge fan. I hope they stay together for a long, long time and continue to write fantastic, beautiful songs and music.

@, Beth Resille: Very well put. I've always said I was born too late. I'm 55 & long for the tranquil, almost hypnotic lyrical content missing in today's music world. It's not completely lost but, The Milk Carton Kids have a way with making one feel they've arrived "home" where all is safe & peaceful. I for one have been a huge fan of these fine gentlemen for years. I believe your hope for their longevity will hold true. They're not going anywhere soon. They'll be around for decades to come ! Check out the concert "Live From Here" with, Chris Thile... The special guests will astound you!

and if there is more than us standing out this way of no where

I only discovered this duo on the radio driving home last night. I was mesmerized immediately. They are Bob Dylan, Rod McKuen, Peter, Paul and Mary, Donovan and Doug Foster combined, with their own musical HONEY, HONEY stirred in like just the right amount of Brandy in your evening coffee. And w/ a droll, dry delightful injecton of humor to entertain us and cause us to forget trouble outside the walls that protect us. May they continue ad infinitum! Thank you gentlemen. Thank you. And now I will set about trying to imitate your style and talent and skill.

I had first watched The Milk Carton Kids perform on NPR Tiny Desk Concert a couple of years ago, but got distracted by the more louder Avett Brothers, who then became my favourite ‘new band’.
Then, a few days ago, I stumbled upon them again, when Molly Tuttle covered their beautiful “Maybe It’s Time”, with the Kids (Joey Ryan & Keith Pattengale) backing her up.
So, I did some digging and came up with this an hour and thirteen minute long concert that just blew me away. “Michigan” and “Maybe It’s Time” have been playing on repeat since then.
Damn, it feels good to find something new music one can love.
Sorry Scott and Seth, you need to rest as bit. Joey and Keith will be keeping me company for a while now. :-)

But when I listen to it now, after years of doing so, i i can remember driving through the mountains, snow piled up on the sides of the roads, driving to see an old friend. I can smell the car I had at the time. I can smell their house.

I really like these guys. Great harmonies and that little Martin has about the best intonation of any guitar I've seen.

Deep music and wonderful composition! As a metalhead, I just feel overwhelmed and deeply connected to their music and so confused in an awesome way. They give me the chills.

The intelligent, well-crafted songs, exquisite harmonies, Joey's acerbic wit along with Kenneth's superb flat picking make a refreshing change from the mindless, auto-tuned dross that passes for music these days. Thanks, guys.

wouldnt say the same thing about their guitars, the martin o-15 that kenneth uses is likely over 3 grand, still doesnt invalidate your point though, these guys could make music with a trashcan lol

I've lost both my parents before the age of 30 and I never feel sad or get emotional. But for whatever reason this band brings me to tears and moves me and it's not sad, it's just beautiful and so engaging. I don't know what it is other than perfection. It's absolutely amazing. It's basically the pinacle of music without drums, bass or any instruments. It's just two guys and two guitars.

How beautiful it has been to find these guys. Great songs , great harmonies and I cannot underestimate the blending and timing of their guitar playing. The way Kenneth flat picks, creates a wonderful tension and beauty. It almost sits a millisecond behind to create that triplet feel. Bluegrass meets folk meets entertainment at its best. Thanks guys , a revelation.

Pleased to be wrong, but they kinda skewed my world perspective, now I must accomodate the idea of a younger generation knowing and feeling the truth of things, and expressiblah blah blah I can't finish this thought gonna listen some more.
