It’s 2024. Much has changed in my life in the last decade. So many beautiful moments accompanied by The Milk Carton Kids. And here I find myself yet again.
If no one else is; I lean beside you. and if there is more than us standing out this way of no where we stay together going whichever way you decided. But with everyone in motion what are we supposed to do Without you.... We've been waiting. And here you are again
I am 74 years old, and I have always bemoaned the fact that I was not born Simon AND Garfunkle. Listening to this duo made me weep for days past. Their harmony, in particular, is so reminiscent of the height of the folk era and Simon and Garfunkle. I have become a huge fan. I hope they stay together for a long, long time and continue to write fantastic, beautiful songs and music.
@, Beth Resille: Very well put. I've always said I was born too late. I'm 55 & long for the tranquil, almost hypnotic lyrical content missing in today's music world. It's not completely lost but, The Milk Carton Kids have a way with making one feel they've arrived "home" where all is safe & peaceful. I for one have been a huge fan of these fine gentlemen for years. I believe your hope for their longevity will hold true. They're not going anywhere soon. They'll be around for decades to come ! Check out the concert "Live From Here" with, Chris Thile... The special guests will astound you! ruclips.net/video/pGlXLhnF8G8/видео.html
Wow, I’m so glad we have them to listen to in a time of such musical chaos and refresh with actual talent in song writing with exceptional Guitar playing. TY
These musicians inspire me to pick up my guitar back up and write songs again....I put them down in 1986 after I lost my first and only true love...now I am 59, they restored the music in my heart..they are wonderful, talented and very very gifted ...
I have a first and only true love too. I've been carrying her around with me in my heart for 36 years, and music seems to connect me to that world in a way nothing else does.
What I love most about the banter parts are the times when Kenneth cracks up along with the audience just listening to the stuff Joey's saying. His expressions during Joey's song introductions are hilarious. So glad this video is here on RUclips, although I would buy it on DVD too because this band deserves all the support. Their songs are truly breathtaking. So many times I expected to hear wild applause right in the middle of a song because it was just that good!
These unbelievable, wonderful musicians... harmonies so close you can't tell who's singing what, and playing as if on one guitar. And they're just getting started! What the years will bring forth from these two - the heart picks up tempo in anticipation. Was blessed to be at the Lincoln the night of their October 29 2013 performance, and again this past Wednesday, July 22 2014, at Lincoln again. They've promised a Columbus OH show every tour!!
I only discovered this duo on the radio driving home last night. I was mesmerized immediately. They are Bob Dylan, Rod McKuen, Peter, Paul and Mary, Donovan and Doug Foster combined, with their own musical HONEY, HONEY stirred in like just the right amount of Brandy in your evening coffee. And w/ a droll, dry delightful injecton of humor to entertain us and cause us to forget trouble outside the walls that protect us. May they continue ad infinitum! Thank you gentlemen. Thank you. And now I will set about trying to imitate your style and talent and skill.
The solo bit of "Girls Gather 'Round" is twice as funny when like me you have been listening to the album on Spotify for the last six months and thinking Joey was actually playing the solo.
This is a fantastic performance. There are moments where you are laughing and others where the hair was standing up. I will be purchasing their music and hope to see them live someday.
The writing, the harmonies, the picking, the humor. There’s something special here. One word to describe this...compelling. Also scones. I just thought I’d mention scones.
When I first heard them they reminded me of that duo I really loved to hear. Those perfect harmonies and great acoustic guitar reminded me of The Milk Carton Kids.
My wife and I saw them in concerts in Richmond, Virginia about a month ago and we were glad they can also improvise their monologues/dialogues based on the crowd's reaction. A very enjoyable evening!
Maybe it's Time to listen to these guys. When I want a lift I watch this concert. Thought I'd get to see them in Chicago a few weeks ago but it didn't work out...but my son was there and loved them. One of these days....in the meantime I have RUclips. They ROCK.
Not once does Kenneth look down at his guitar to see what he's playing. What a talent they both are. Genuine music ability and musicality that has them listening so well to what each is doing and blending the sound into one.
There is just soooo much incredible young and talented musicians and song writers out there today, Blows my mind . The Milk Carton Kids, Mandolin Orange, I'm With Her (3 of the finest vocalist I've heard ),
This amount of skill, talent and presence within the musical community should not be forgotten... This performance should be studied and talked about in music classroom dialogue for decades to come. Utterly exceptional
I now have a beautiful 🤩 grandchild called Charlie too with another on the way.thanks for such a beautiful concert.I’ve listened to this whole concert for years it matures like a fine wine 🍷 so cheers 🥂 boys as I write the thousandth comment at 0515 on the 25 th February 2022
Have they considered naming the next child something different? I see this comment was left two years ago. I hope I'm not too late. If I am, how is it having two grandchildren named Charlie? Does it get confusing sometimes? I imagine it would.
I had first watched The Milk Carton Kids perform on NPR Tiny Desk Concert a couple of years ago, but got distracted by the more louder Avett Brothers, who then became my favourite ‘new band’. Then, a few days ago, I stumbled upon them again, when Molly Tuttle covered their beautiful “Maybe It’s Time”, with the Kids (Joey Ryan & Keith Pattengale) backing her up. So, I did some digging and came up with this an hour and thirteen minute long concert that just blew me away. “Michigan” and “Maybe It’s Time” have been playing on repeat since then. Damn, it feels good to find something new music one can love. Sorry Scott and Seth, you need to rest as bit. Joey and Keith will be keeping me company for a while now. :-)
I have never liked folk music, but these guys are incredible. When you hear about music that makes you feel something, these guys are at the top of the list.
Just saw them this month in Kirkland, WA - took my 15-year old daughter and she LOVED it - highly recommend their music and catching their show if they come through your area. Amazing musicians, entertaining stage presence, clean show - one of my favorite live shows ever
I had never heard of The Milk Carton Kids before last night's Emmylou Harris tribute at DAR. What the heck? What have I been missing! They killed it at the show. Now the day after, I've spent all this morning listening to them. Fantastic! Do yourself a favor and just sit and watch this whole video. Did I say Fantastic!
I am responsible for at least 100 listens of this record. The music is wonderful, the humor is funny and the sound is amazing. So grateful to RUclips for recommending!
I can listen to this in the afternoon and get so much school work done. & I can also listen while going to sleep and not remain conscious for more than 5 minutes.
Those of us who grew up with Paul and Art can sincerely appreciate these guys stepping up to fill any void created by their absence from current stages ... Thanks so much!
Unreal! Ive heard their name, but never the songs, till now. Today, the song “Michigan”, has wrecked me. 39 yrs. She was born in Flint. After 4 yrs divorced, thought i was ok. Nope. Ill never recover. Ive played acoustic 50 yrs, these guys are brilliant
These guys are consummate artists. I could listen to them play and talk all night. Saw them in St. Louis and they were every bit as good as everyone said they were.
So sweet harmony and playing in chords and note picking - they just know exactly how much is needed to create such eloquent sounds !!! Kudos, good sirs. Please - Play on !!!!! GBjj
I think I've probably watched (or at least played) this close to a hundred times by now, after discovering it around a year ago. Girlfriend is hating me for it - not because she dislikes the music, she likes it almost as much as I do, but rather because I play it so often - but I can't help it! It's an incredible concert, by an incredible pair of musicians. Such a great connection with the crowd, and amazing music mixed with great humor. Best concert I've ever seen, live or not! I downloaded both of their free albums from their site as well, they have roughly the same stuff that they play here - which I'm not about to complain about!
6 years ago i got sober, every now and then i still need to drop by to my roots of what got me here today where i am now. thanks for helping me feel for the very first time in such a long time MCK, you have a way of hitting chords that arent even on those strings.
@Shenbyre congrats on your sobriety! I have been sober for 20 years, 5 months. My son introduced me to these guys about a half hour ago and I'm just blown away by the musicianship and the perfect harmonies. Now, when my son was much younger I introduced him to a variety of music and now he's introducing me to new music. I'm so glad I watched this video. Thanks, son. @Shenbyre keep at it... one day at a time; an hour, a minute at a time.
Oh my gosh! I* stumbled into this wonderful music and words of these two guys.. They are so GREAT! I am 70 years old---that's old, right? Maybe I/m not TOO old----because I can still hear great music from these super talented guys. Damn, they take their smart for granted. Amazing.
I don't think I could ever get enough of this performance! These two are absolutely delightful to listen to, their banter and melodic flow make for true entertainment!
I saw them live last night in Dublin and felt exactly the same. They are incredible, it's beyond talent in my opinion. They harnessed the whole theater's energy and just hypnotized the whole crowd for over an hour. Their tone/sound is so sweet, precise and clean, it makes you forget it's only 2 guys with guitars. Pure ear bliss and very funny guys as well!
I don't remember how I discovered Michigan. It's like it just appeared in one of my playlists. But when I listen to it now, after years of doing so, i i can remember driving through the mountains, snow piled up on the sides of the roads, driving to see an old friend. I can smell the car I had at the time. I can smell their house. Amazing what a simple song can do.
This is so beautiful ! I think of the great Simon and Garfunkel, The Everly Bros . and Peter and Gordon , Peter Paul and Mary , The Brothers Four , The Kingston Trio . Just wonderful music ! ty
Just discovered these guys - thanks for sharing your music and your humor. Hilarious dead-pan comedy, heartfelt & touching songwriting, amazing talented musicians.
18:43 Kenneth gives credit to Joey for his stoic rhythm and vocals. These guys are for real man, proper people playing proper music with proper intentions
I discovered them two weeks ago or so and since then I come back to this video, I watch it over and over again and I just cant stop being amazed by how funny they are, how perfectly their voices accord with each other, and how insanely well Kenneth plays the guitar while singing to it simultaneously. I absoluely dig it
How beautiful it has been to find these guys. Great songs , great harmonies and I cannot underestimate the blending and timing of their guitar playing. The way Kenneth flat picks, creates a wonderful tension and beauty. It almost sits a millisecond behind to create that triplet feel. Bluegrass meets folk meets entertainment at its best. Thanks guys , a revelation.
Wow. Simon & Garfunkel, Everly Brothers, Smothers Brothers, Marketa Irglova & Glen Hansard, all shaken together and then taken to a new level with sophistication of guitar rhythm and chord movement.
Still have no clue how Kenneth can play the guitar like he does, it’s crazy. Love it. He makes an acoustic guitar “sing” like there’s another vocalist. It’s amazing.
Heard them on Spotify tonight, I came right over to RUclips and I've been here for almost 2 hours now listening to them. Amazing sound! I'm now a fan of The Milk Carton Kids!
Listened to, for the first time.. Tadaaa ... I am a fan :) That would be worth a concert visited - perhaps, one day ... May GOD Bless and keep, inspire and use them, to spread messages of love, hope, comfort and encouragement.. Thanks, for the upload. Greetings from Germany Ruben
This concert has got me through so much. Aside from being a great background to everyday activities, the run of maybe it's time to girls gather round to Michigan is the perfect balance of heavy emotion and light hearted banter and amazing guitar licks and harmonies. If I'm really feeling down I stick around for the bit about the ampersand and notary public never fails to put a smile on my crying face.
Loved these guys from the first time I heard and saw them. An intimacy that hit me where it counts most. Their music has a direct path to my soul .Got everything they’ve done .
The new breaks to show where the specific songs are SO great! I haven't watched/listened to this in quite a while, so I don't know how long they've existed, but it may be the best thing since sliced bread!
My new favourite live show to listen to at work. The combination of musicianship, incredibly skilled song-writing and highbrow humour in between songs is so unique and creative. It feels like these two strip down folk music and bring it back to it's musical roots while seemingly being incredibly stylistically progressive.
This is one of the most perfectly recorded things I've ever heard - hats off to the audio engineers that worked on this!
It’s 2024. Much has changed in my life in the last decade. So many beautiful moments accompanied by The Milk Carton Kids. And here I find myself yet again.
If no one else is; I lean beside you.
and if there is more than us standing out this way of no where
we stay together going whichever way you decided.
But with everyone in motion
what are we supposed to do
Without you....
We've been waiting.
And here you are again
I understand. I really enjoy this show and these musicians. The whole experience stirs my soul. Thanks guys

Nice
But at least could u spell Art’s surname correctly 🤪
Sorry!

Fooled me too ! Thought they were S&G at first ...
That's Right!
These guys are brilliant. Joey is one of the best stand up comics around.
These Guys are truly amazing and sooooo talented... I wish I've known them sooner......
It's 2021 and I'm only now finding these guys. Way to let me down algorithm.
me too....I am 75 years old and seems I find wonders everyday...thank you Amazon Music
2024!
I've come back to listen to this concert in its entirety several times. The talent, the quality, the banter... It's all unbelievably enjoyable.
It doesn't get much better than this.
It sure is!
Quite quite True Brother... Jus soooo very Listenable....
Kinda feel like they're the modern Everly Brothers, tho I do hate Myself for saying that...!
They are old-souls that sound like a modern Simon and Garfunkel!
7;&;&
What a fantastic evening of theater here. I have watched this many times and will many times in the future, I am sure.
"What's the fee?" might be one of the most perfectly delivered lines in comedy history. Well done.
the dead pan delivery of the stories is just brilliant.
I love everything about this.
And the dang sound engineers! wow!
Those voices& playing is angelic imo👏👏👏
Wow, I’m so glad we have them to listen to in a time of such musical chaos and refresh with actual talent in song writing with exceptional
Guitar playing. TY
For me, the banter is almost as entertaining as the music. It's hilarious. Loved this set. So refreshing.
These musicians inspire me to pick up my guitar back up and write songs again....I put them down in 1986 after I lost my first and only true love...now I am 59, they restored the music in my heart..they are wonderful, talented and very very gifted ...
rebecca - very sweet post. good for you - it's always wonderful to open up that case again. Sing it!
you play away rebecca let the world hear your song!!!
I wrote some of my best songs (not nearly as good as these) when I was sad or depressed. great therapy.
I have a first and only true love too. I've been carrying her around with me in my heart for 36 years, and music seems to connect me to that world in a way nothing else does.
I'm also 59, and just picked up the mandocello to learn it. Wish me luck! ;-)
I have no words - that was one of the top most incredible performances I have ever seen.
+fgbowen I had the same reaction. An incredible performance. I keep watching it in awe. Beautiful~
I come back to this video again and again for that very reason.
@@jaredmh90 , Same for me.
Here we are, nearly 6 years later and this never gets old. It has aged incredibly well.
This kind of music is timeless. I'll bet you in 6 years, you'll still feel the same way.
Hell...I still pull out Hank Williams, all is possible. Bill
My God, they're fantastic, like a couple of old souls.
I don't think I'll ever tire of listening to this show.
"Years Gone By" wrecks me every time. 😭
These unbelievable, wonderful musicians... harmonies so close you can't tell who's singing what, and playing as if on one guitar. And they're just getting started! What the years will bring forth from these two - the heart picks up tempo in anticipation.

That is very entertaining!
I'm exactly six years late to the party. I guess that's better than never.
This is some seriously high quality stuff. There's not much out there these days that gets my attention, but this definitely does.
Snake Eyes is the first Milk Carton Kids' song I heard, and it's still my favorite. Beautiful!!
I can't believe I just discovered these guys, this is gold!
This is powerful music. Tears of joy running down my cheek. Feels like this world ain't so cruel place to be and we all still got a lot of hope.
This is a fantastic performance. There are moments where you are laughing and others where the hair was standing up. I will be purchasing their music and hope to see them live someday.
I gratefully hear David Rawlings voicings and colors. Thats a great example of roots growing. You 2 guys are great players and singers! Gems
Yes, if I didn't see who was playing, I'd have thought it was David, hands down...same style and feel.
The writing, the harmonies, the picking, the humor.
There’s something special here. One word to describe this...compelling.
Also scones. I just thought I’d mention scones.
Joey is incredibly funny. Perfect delivery. A comedy show AND a lovely music performance. Good value for money. ;)
When I first heard them they reminded me of that duo I really loved to hear.
Those perfect harmonies and great acoustic guitar reminded me of The Milk Carton Kids.
Their songwriting actually reminds me most of Don McClean. Keep it going, guys,, you're great!
These guys are so talented. I was in tears when they sang Maybe It's Time. It made me think of my past relationship. 💜😞
My wife and I saw them in concerts in Richmond, Virginia about a month ago and we were glad they can also improvise their monologues/dialogues based on the crowd's reaction.
A very enjoyable evening!
I was there too! Great show :)
They are amazing. Like a cross between Swan and Flanders and Simon and Garfunkel! Dry humor and superb musicianship.
Maybe it's Time to listen to these guys. When I want a lift I watch this concert. Thought I'd get to see them in Chicago a few weeks ago but it didn't work out...but my son was there and loved them. One of these days....in the meantime I have RUclips. They ROCK.

"Nobody said anything about pizza...". Beautiful performance by this two guys, love all the songs.
It's amazing how this is both the funniest and the most musically mesmerizing show I've seen. Incredible talent from both guys. Just wonderful.

I really like these guys. Great harmonies and that little Martin has about the best intonation of any guitar I've seen.
I have never liked folk music, but these guys are incredible. When you hear about music that makes you feel something, these guys are at the top of the list.
I listened to this entire concert at least three times in 2020. The harmonies and guitars calmed and chilled me out everytime.

Such an incredible perfomance and Music is not the only wonderful thing they know how to deliver Their humor is ferocious !
Still have no clue how Kenneth can play the guitar like he does, it’s crazy. Love it. He makes an acoustic guitar “sing” like there’s another vocalist. It’s amazing.
And sing at the same time.
Yes! Definitely influenced by Dave Rawling, but his guitar sounds much sweeter.
@@thomasszejnmann3917In their tiny desk appearance on NPR, he cradles his gorgeous guitar as if it were a child. Heartbreakingly beautiful.
He has crazy skills with that 1954 Martin. I can play but am jealous I can’t do what he does

He mentioned somewhere that his style is inspired by Dave Rawlings, the both use that dissonance in a similar way.
Heard them on Spotify tonight, I came right over to RUclips and I've been here for almost 2 hours now listening to them. Amazing sound! I'm now a fan of The Milk Carton Kids!
Amazing song plus added bonus of comedy! Brilliant
I’ve never seen such unique artists. I don’t know of anyone else like this duo. 😩🥺
Tom and Dick
Thats what makes it so good
Listened to, for the first time.. Tadaaa ... I am a fan :)
That would be worth a concert visited - perhaps, one day ...
May GOD Bless and keep, inspire and use them, to spread messages of love, hope, comfort and encouragement..
Thanks, for the upload.
Greetings from Germany

This concert has got me through so much. Aside from being a great background to everyday activities, the run of maybe it's time to girls gather round to Michigan is the perfect balance of heavy emotion and light hearted banter and amazing guitar licks and harmonies. If I'm really feeling down I stick around for the bit about the ampersand and notary public never fails to put a smile on my crying face.
Seen these guys twice in Vancouver, they're still amazing as ever. Looking forward to seeing them again in July!
I'm not a big folk fan, but I could listen to Pattengale play that little Martin all day. Those 2 were made for each other.
He should name her "Charlie"
