Giving 20+ Year Old Oak Dining Chairs a Facelift! || Refinishing and Restoration How To

I was commissioned to restore and refinish six, 20+ year old oak dining chairs into a darker, more appealing tone. They were a lot of work and a lot of hand-sanding was required BUT the outcome was well worth it! Watch how these yellow tinted chairs have been given a facelift.

What did you use to sand the spaces on the seat in between the spindles?

What brand was the sander?

My guy.....you should have poured some of that stain in a cup and thinned it out and used a bristle brush, it would have been much thinner and easier to apply and would have been super easy to wipe off. The color would have been the same, but it would have saved you a ton of time and hassle. You put stain on that thick and depending on the wood it will still be bleeding out of the pours days later and needing to be wiped down over and over again.

At 5:05 you can see it. Varathane wood stain, looks like its color is "Dark Walnut" from what I could find. GL!
