THIS! 💯 😂😂 Boomers are the great-grandparents while gen Xer's are the grandparents! Boomers just decided to lay up fuck all day long, making multiple mouths to feed while NOT taking care of their kids, letting them run buckwild and expecting their OLDEST gen X kid to take care of their other gen X siblings! A.k.a. "latchkey kids!" Anytime the younger gen X siblings did something wrong, the OLDEST gen X kid got in trouble! When gen Xer's started having kids, gen X'ers ain't no different than boomers because they did the same thing boomers did; they decided to lay up and screw all day, reproducing mouths they knew they couldn't feed! Mouths they knew were going to be HARD to feed under the guise of "sacrifice!" They expected their older millennial kids to take care of their millennial siblings! Half the time, gen Xer's left their millennial children with their boomer grandparents while they, themselves did who-knows-what outside of working! The other half the time, they paid for daycare for their millennial children while bitching, whining and moaning about how hard everything was! NOW, that SOME millennials and gen Z'ers are having kids of THEIR own, gen Xer's want NOTHING to do with their grandkids because according to them, "no one helped me! I had to figure it out! So now it's your turn! Figure it out!" According to gen Xer's, "I've already raised my kids! I'm done! I raised my kids to get them out the house! I wanna live my life! I been taking care of kids all my life! I had to take care of my siblings, plus my own kids! I'm done!" And yet...they're the same ones that reproduced! 🤦 If taking care of their gen X siblings was a hassle....what sense did it make to ADD MORE children (*that NEVER asked to be here!*) to their already-stressed-out, poverty-stricken lives???? They're the main ones who talk a bunch of ying-yang bullshit about all the so-called ‘opportunities’ they had/could've had but placed on hold or on the back-burner because they just "had" to "sacrifice" THEIR OWN dreams/aspiration for kids that NOBODY asked them to have! Kids that NEVER asked nor chose nor CONSENTED to being born in the first place! And they wanna get on childfree millennials and childfree gen Z'ers about having kids they KNOW that they want NOTHING to do with! 🤦 "iT tAkEs A viLLaGe", right? 😒🤦 Give me grandkid money! Give me village money!
Yep. Boomers forgot their end of the deal. They think their role is to sit back and be fed grapes like a God. Narcissistic, parasitic generation the majority of them. The silent generation helped them buy houses, gave free childcare, helped clean/cook when they needed a day off, took them on vacations. Yeah they were assholes too, but they made sure to set up their families and passed the baton. Now boomers as grandparents gripe if you ask them to take care of their grandkids for a few hours. God forbid you asked for some money for food, and if you live with them they treat you like a slave. Not all, but most of them ~ and they make up the majority of slumlords too. They're gonna find out real quick that theres not gonna be anybody to take care of them so they can live to 105 being a giant burden to the system their entire lives. The only ones who are gonna get care are the filthy rich and those who actually did their duty as parents/grandparents. The rest are gonna pay the price for taking the economic opportunities they got and promptly shutting the door behind them. Letting their kids pay over half their income in rent instead of helping them get a downpayment on a house. Pushing them take out thousands in student loans, just for the economy to throw them into min wage service roles. They gripe about Millenials buying avocado toast when in reality they own over 50% of the generation wealth...Millenials own about 5%. And they are working and producing more than boomers did at the same age. The world is dying because of their collective greed and they have the audacity to say young people are ruining the economy or "morally bankrupt". We are living in an economic environment worse than the great depression and most are sitting by doing nothing about it ~ blaming their kids+grandkids for being "lazy".
I have 2 daughters ages 36 & 39 never wanted to have children. They met & married men that didn’t want children. They are happy being child free. We are baby boomers & we respected their decision.
Wait, what? Babies have their own PERSONAL bills? How is that even legal? Child Labor is a huge no no. If they can't work, how do they pay it off?? This is really just ACTUAL proof that putting someone in debt FROM BIRTH is the new normal.
The US also needs to pay its more than trillion dollar debt too. The elites want to put everyone except themselves into debt. Debt before you are born will be the new normal in the U.S. for the “middle” class and poor. How else will the government keep spending with impunity and give benefits to the new kings and queens, the mega corporations? Of course they will not tax the billionaires more, but us. We are becoming the modern serfs. Own nothing and “be happy”.
Because they are now a ‘PERSON’ which is considered a dead entity the moment you apply For a birth certificate and social security card. Any name on a mail that is in all caps is referring your ‘straw man’ That’s why they push it SO HARD while your in the hospital because they need someone to bill. Once your child is considered “dead” and has their own account open then that’s when you get the bill 😊.
I can't with these outrageous costs.... Canadian living in the Bahamas with NO insurance here; my medical bill to have a baby was $1200.00. I wish Americans could see how bad their situation is. Second/Third world countries have better care. You deserve better care, America!
We know it’s bad. I have two. There’s 17 years 8 months and 10 days between them. There’s was thousands of dollars differences in the cost of having them. I can’t imagine how much it cost now. Mine are 35 (36 in February) and 17 (18 next month). I did it as a single parent. I wouldn’t do it in today’s economy. I wouldn’t be able to afford it.
We know. We also know that despite how expensive our medical system is, our maternal fetal mortality rate is astronomical for a developed country. It's asinine. We don't have a choice. I wish we could change it.
I’m personally not having kids unless I’m THRIVING!! After living the struggling life from birth I’m never going to put anyone through that. In my opinion, people should not be having kids unless they are financially stable. We never know what the future holds but to do it any other way is completely selfish and insane!!

@boyblue3270 And that is your ignorance. To understand the position you're in really is your difficiency in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. See, God the Father is perfection and nothing but perfection can come in his presence. To type the fullness of Christ Jesus in a thread is long. So, I will give you the summation. Christ Jesus died for the will of the Father, that becoming the sacrifice for sin, he defeated sin and death. Without you accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you cannot enter Heaven with the Father. He gave his his only begotten Son as a sacrifice for you to enter into paradise. Now, to say you are without sin makes you a liar and there is no place for you with him. When you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you will be forgiven and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. I can go on to explain more if you like. I have the Holy Spirit living inside me. I know my Father's business.
@adouloslabelh2957 Here on earth, you will have many sorrows, but to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord will place your name in the book of life, and you will have eternity with him in paradise.
Everything in this country has been commodified, quantified and assigned a numeric value. Even the most basic desire for a family has to come with an enormous price tag.
Having triplets (even just having 1 baby) knowing you dont have insurance is almost be criminal/child endangerment. Almost all multiple births need to be in the NICU. wtf were they thinking. Like you live in the US, we all know what those bills are going to be
I did the research not only the financial aspect but also the emotional and physical toll it takes and it's not something I want and people should not shame those that choose to not have any children.
Not only the rest of your life, but if your child is severely affected, you need to figure out how to somehow save up enough money to care for yourself and possibly a spouse as you possibly slowly decline until you die, but enough needs to be saved, if at all possible, to provide for your child's care until their death, after you are dead and gone! That is basically impossible for at least 85 % of full time workers even after a lifetime of non stop work til a later retirement, unless they are one of the few who somehow earn and save enough to invest and then get lucky enough to score huge returns. Most of the population never make enough to do much investing, and even fewer ever get taught how to invest or get taught that you really need to start investing as young as possible to get the most out of your investment dollars. I rarely sleep at all as I never stop worrying about how we will be able to cover our own expenses as we age and draw down our what savings we managed to scrape together by being extremely frugal for my entire adult life, much less how my youngest daughter will be able to afford to care for herself and any kids she chooses to have plus take over support of her 2 older autistic brothers as they all age together. And no one ever truly thinks about how expensive their child will be if there are any health or developmental issues, even if thoses challenges are short term and do not affect the child long-term!!
I'm in my 50's and have always felt this way. I'm childfree and so incredibly happy that I made that decision. Godspeed to those who've made a different choice, but I'm so damn happy that I didn't give into FOMO and social pressures.
I wouldn’t shame you for your choice, but saying you researched the emotional toll of having a child is like saying you researched what it’s like to fall in love. Everyone’s experience is different. Every child is different. It’s not something you can ever fully prepare for like a test. You just have to jump in when or if you feel ready for it. Life with a child is beautiful chaos. There’s no instruction manual.
@manvwi- If we made all of our life’s decisions based on the worst case scenario and not our actual personal circumstances, we wouldn’t need to leave the house or have relationships at all. Live your dream. Being practical is not antithetical to that for everyone.
Also it is lonely, meaningless, selfish and without an opportunity to experience drastic growth as an individual, true selfless love (you cannot even know what this word means until you have children, it is so life changing), and daily happiness and joy on a level the childfree will never understand.
It’s because school drop off lines are the literal worst. Speaking from e, people “forget “ how to drive in a school drop off/ pick up line and act like total a holes.
My birth in a private clinic in France that was a c section with 6 day hospital stay was €700 I was totally reimbursed by insurance plus I got paid 1,000€ for having a child. I’m American so living here was a total shock. I’m scared to even visit home with my baby now lol
For my birth in America, I had to be hospitalized for 6 weeks, my babies had to spend a few weeks in the NICU, and I had to have a C-section. For all of this together I paid $100 after insurance covered the rest. Our insurance for the entire family, which includes dental, vision, all emergencies, medicine and more is $200 monthly, and out of pocket expenses cannot exceed $400 for the entire family per year. I'm originally from Germany and it is much cheaper for us here, and the care we get is far superior and more comprehensive as well.
@@katherinedelacruz9876 We aren't even remotely close to being rich. Our family income is below median income. In Germany you pay much more and get much worse healthcare.
@@AnonymousPerson270 which insurance? I’m glad you feel happy and safe with your care. Everyone deserves that. I do feel some sévices are better quality in the states of you can afford it.
The cost for me to have a baby in the US in 2009 was $50. That was with Kaiser health insurance through my job that I paid $35 a month for. I can’t believe it’s gone up so much!
Friends' grandparents bought a brand new 3 br home in southern Calif for $15,000 in 1957. But, income was much less as well, so they still had a 30 year mortgage.
@@hushingsilenceThe average income in 1957 was $5,000 a year. The modern equivalent to that would be a $150k house. Trailer parks costs more than that nowadays.
I sooo agree!!! I'm 35, don't have kids, and don't understand how people are making it work!? I have a business finance degree and paying my bills and taking care of my dog is all I can swing with a good degree. I absolutely agree with ther girl that said having a kid is almost a luxury anymore 🙄...like how are you affording these kids? 😬
Legit, I’m in a similar boat as you. I do okay and am not living check to check but I couldn’t imagine having to pay for a child. If this was the 90s and I could afford a home and to work part time I think I would have two or three children. Now I’m 36, I’ve just come to terms with the fact that I have cats and that’s just how it is. Not to mention the world in general even excluding costs…we live in an upside down clown world right now.
Well I’m a mom of 2 and my husband and I both work. Our kids are school age so that helps with me being able to work. But let me tell you that we’re both exhausted from grinding at work & doing our parental duties to take care of them. We’re always tired, always busy with something. Life is so hectic with kids! We run through Money like water lol as soon as we get paid, it has to go out to something. Mostly for kids & our bills. There is no catching up on anything, not money, not sleep not even some me time 😖 things have changed since inflation and it’s so much harder to make it through our days. Stay childless because life is hard with kids.. at least put off having kids until our economy stabilizes lol 😅
@@unionunicorn6776 That’s why you become the rich auntie/uncle or god mom/dad. 😂😂 You’ll only need enough money to babysit for a few hours. Then, you can send them right back to their parents.
And people wonder why I say I can't afford this. I literally can't. And it makes you wonder how many people put off going to the hospital as long as possible just to avoid some of these costs.
You REALLY need a village to raise a kid. I lucked out with my kid so far. But I will most likely never give him a sibling. I had dreams of having my own big family after a lifetime of pure dysfunction but this society basically killed that wish lol. I'm glad though now. My kid gets all my attention and we started traveling abroad together! He needs to see a world outside of this society lol. I wouldn't be able to travel at all if I had another child. Takes a lot to ensure my kid has a decent life. I hope all the parents can also do the same even with school shootings and these nonsense politics seeping into school curriculums ugh 🙄
Ask people if they want to be your village BEFORE you breed. And coming from a dysfunctional family is like playing russian roulette with your childs upbringing. You d3 know how to provide a healthy environment for a child.
We’ve been trying to have kids for the past few years but I didn’t want to actively start trying until we had our own house. I graduated from grad school/got married (around the same time) and to save, we stayed with my in laws and paid them rent until we got our place. We were fortunate and finally bought our home (which is already huge since it’s so hard to do in our economy) without any help. I heard his MIL complaining about how millennials wait until their 30’s to have a baby and how crazy we are vs. them in their 20’s… it’s almost like low key blaming me for being infertile bc I didn’t actively start until my 30’s. I don’t think baby boomers could survive in this state at all. Such a huge slap in the face for that kind of entitled/judgmental conversation.
@@lamppuu1 how would you know they're not in debt? Did you know that people in the UK will often times have to seek out private healthcare since the waiting lists with the NHS are years long? Imagine paying higher taxes for "free" healthcare and still having to dip into your personal funds for private healthcare just so you can get the help you need quicker. Also, most people have health insurance in the US where the premium they pay is likely lower than the higher taxes charged in countries with "universal healthcare". Also, low income households in the US can qualify for medical assistance which pays for their healthcare via the taxpayer. No system is perfect but it's ridiculous to see that so many of you think that having universal healthcare is free and without fault. The money has to come from somewhere.
@@northwoodslife8456I can’t even get X rays in America cause my insurance doesn’t cover it. So I say being on a long ass waitlist is better than NOT BEING ON ANY CAUSE YOU CANT AFFORD IT.
As a new mom, I can confirm so much of this. In many ways, it’s a privilege to be able to afford to have a child. And that is scary. I think the best video here is the one about needing more people to have children so that we continue to have the Social Security system and support future generations of the elderly. We need greater access to affordable health care, paid parental leave, affordable support such as doulas and lactation consultants, etc. The children that are being born are the future of this country and we need to ensure that it’s not just wealthy people that are able to access help. We need a lot more people to understand the difficulties and advocate for change, while also caring for friends, neighbors, and family members that have kids. ❤
I can only be grateful that i live in Australia, and we have medicare. When you have a baby here under the public system, no matter the complications, (literally anything, for you or the baby), you walk out paying NOT ONE CENT. Every citizen is entitled to this. Our health care system is far from perfect, but my goodness, its better than this.
4 kids. Birthed at home, shop used, make food from scratch, sacrifice, and carry on my ancestors mentality they shared with me. Which, I am still grateful for. " You don't *afford* kids, you *have* kids. Have a family." Cool if you don't. Super cool if you do. ❤
Same here, giving birth in the hospital is unnecessary almost 95% of the time.... we do cloth diapers and cook everything from scratch. No daycare, and the child gets the benefit of having a mother present 100% of the time. People just are not financially intelligent and overspend.
@Happytown7523 how no childcare worry? Father is only one working? A lot of family to help out? Staying at home is also a luxury for a lot of people. Do you think it would've been harder for you if you had to work, pay for day care and still take care of the house and child after work?
@@gildamartinez4604 I need to correct you. My husband makes a modest 5 figure income. I have NEVER had any help from family even though they live less than an hour away and are retired. Boomers don't value family like in generations past. My husband never even got so much as a paternity leave when I was recovering postpartum.
I’m late on one of my bills because , I gave my mom $300 for my brother. He has three kids and three baby mamas. Kids don’t only affects the parents, it affects the siblings who have no kids.
I'm sorry, but the fact that he has 3 kids with 3 different women just shows that he's very likely an irresponsible person. He got himself into that mess. He needs to be the one to get himself out. Please don't give him any more money!
I feel for you. Both my daughters are child free by choice. They earn good money & they get hit up for money too by their cousins They even get asked if they can help tutor their kids, school projects. My oldest is good at math & science. My youngest is good at history, English. They tell their cousins we are only doing it for your kid’s sakes. Not yours for sure. We only help out with money for needs not wants & only because we want to. Not for whatever reason you think we should. Get over yourselves. My daughters told them we know nothing about taking care of babies or kids. Nor do we wish to learn. We will not ever babysit. By the way my birth mother had 7 kids by 5 different men. Thank God I was adopted by an Aunt. So your brother’s 3 kids by 3 different women doesn’t surprise me. Just tell him no more for you. Don’t let him match or break my birth mother’s record. Don’t let anyone in your family guilt you into helping him out either. Best wishes & take care of yourself first.
My brother had kids and we all chipped in, one set per family might become the norm. We lived together as he was a young single father of 3. I did want kids but after helping raise his from diaper to college I understand the real cost. Also, I am a former teacher and understand public schools don’t push out a high degree of success. It would have to be homeschool or private education. I homeschooled my bros kids for awhile, night and day in the quality. They lost all of their gains when they went back to regular school. I may adopt in a year or two as I will be able to grow most of my own food and nearly have my house paid off and some cheap land I am building on for SHTF that would allow me to feed a kid and survive if I lost everything. What I realized since COVID, most of us are 100% relying on a system that isn’t secure for working people. Most of us cannot provide anything for ourselves and families independently. I lost my job and it was a big wake-up call about what would have happened if I had a child. 😮. Scary. I am thinking of working remotely and moving abroad.
Also, what if your kids are already grown up but they have an accident, or become disabled, or fall into addiction? You'll still have to cover those expenses if there's no one else helping them, and you just never know what their future holds. I'm never having children of my own.
why do they induce perfectly healthy, young women with no health concerns? Why not let the body do what it's supposed to do unless the mother requests it??
Totally agree!!!!! My sister-in-law just recently had a totally complications-free birth and delivery, and yet they still offered to induce her! I tried to talk her out it, but the nurse who offered it won. 😑
Because the longer the baby is in the placenta past due date the lower the amniotic fluid levels get and it’s dangerous for baby and potentially deadly when there’s not a lot of amniotic fluid left. The longest they’ll let you go is almost two weeks past due date and then they induce for both you and your baby’s safety.
When my husband joined the military all of the spouses had to go to a class to prepare us for what was to come. The higher up that was talking to us told us to have our children while our spouses were enlisted because having a baby in the civilian world is expensive. He said his wife had just had twins at no additional cost but without TRicare Insurance it would have cost $10,000 per baby just for them to be delivered.
As a single mom of 3. I can say my food costs are right up there with my rent. Living in a "cheap" 2 bed apt ( sleeping in the living room). Driving a cheap car so i dont have to make a car payment... as far as savings??? Non existant. I'm a nurse pulling as many shifts as i can handle without literally passing out from exhaustion. Sometimes i envy those who are able to get assistance. I dont get any and its a juggling act. Its fucking ridiculous.
My wife and I (27 and 32) had our first child this year...he was born with complications and has been in NICU and on the peds floor for the past 5 months, but THANK GOD for insurance. total insurance claims so far have been $2.1 million but we only had to pay $3,000.. without good insurance, for sure would be bankrupt lmao But I will say, we are incredibly fortunate and we make $230K a year... to be frank I wasn't comfortable having kids until we got to the $180k+ range, because they expensive AF!

My 10 year old daughter was saying for quite a while that she didn't want to have kids, then finally said she might have ONE. My 8 year old daughter said she wants to adopt, lol! Reason? She doesn't want to go through labor! 😂 And my 11 year old son? Well, he's good with having a few kids someday (because, you know, he'll be a DAD and NOT a MOM.) 🙄😏
I was lucky that I paid $0 for childbirth and subsequent nicu/hospitalisation post partum (thanks Australian Medicare!) BUT I did almost give birth in the car park and my baby almost died because they delayed me coming to hospital for so long and failed to diagnose my pre-eclampsia because it’s bare bones medical care and bed space. That said, I’m counting my blessing after seeing American mums!
I question who and how they keep track of these itemized charges? Is someone sitting with a stop watch while you are in a room? That has got to take several people just to track all this stuff.
As a nurse we document everything in the patients chart and at the bottom sometimes you have to remember icd10 codes for each product you give or procedure you do.. later the IT or insurance people add it all up for the patients and billing processes begin. If something is wrong the billing department contacts the doctor/office manager to correct it. But yeah everything is computer work or paper work and if you mess up. It's our butts 😅
Omg! I live in Australia and my son had to be in hospital for 2 months and have heart surgery when he was born. We walked out of the hospital with no bill whatsoever. They even gave him all his medication.
I'm right behind you on the childless thing. I like babies but I never wanted kids, I want to be the aunty. Nothing more. Here's to being childless and working to old maid status!😊 Here! Here!
My bilateral salpingectomy was 40k B4 insurance. It was a great investment. Should have done it sooner. Met a lot of women younger than me (24yrs) who got one at 19-21 years old in the U.S.
I’ve always been pretty poor but I was still able to pull off school clothes shopping, birthdays, and Christmas. This year I just don’t know what to do. It’s been hard. I went into a huge amount of debt getting a house for my family a year ago then ran into over 10k of unexpected medical expenses. Add in the rising costs of gas, food, and other essentials, and I don’t think I can even afford Christmas. I do budget shop, garden, and cook everything from scratch so there’s always food on the table, but extras like Christmas are just pretty much impossible. I’ve even been cracking down hard on the kids wasting toilet paper and we haven’t had snacks in the house for months😅 I feel so bad for them because I just want to give them so much more than I’m able to. I also really want to be able to help them out as young adults. I struggled hard in my 20s and could have really used some occasional help with groceries and bills from my parents.
This is so funny that I’m seeing this because I literally told my friend that I’m not rich enough to have sex. 🙃🥴 Sex makes babies. I don’t have that type of money. Nor do I care about sex so that makes it easy.
The people in the US need to protest this. Women even if you want children go on strik. That vavuvu is closed till giving birth is affordable. 5 years of no or minimal births should be enought.
I know this woman at 15:38 did not just try to gaslight childless viewers for not wanting her life and not wanting to financially (and perhaps also emotionally depending on the type of father that baby’s got) suffer with her because of her life choices. 🤨
Nah, one of the older Millenials here who graduated right into the post-2008 recession when TikTok didn't exist and nobody was talking about and certainly not empathasing with our struggles. Managed to dodge having kids despite a few drifter relationships with conventional types which I was delighted to end in my 20s and 30s. Finally caught up with rich peers financially by 40 and met my ideal childfree partner by 38. We just bought land in France instead of day care. Nah, we're not concerned about the lack of free eldercare from children who will be too busy anyway. Do not make your life more expensive than necessary just to follow social expectations. People around you get over it eventually.✌️
I'll tell you. People who have no kids are focused on paying for themselves. When you have a kid you pay out for everything that kid needs first and then you get the scraps...it sucks but my kid will never go without (mine doesn't get what he wants all the time btw) but if I have to I will. It's miserable lol
This was my mother's entire life till I was 20 and I went to college. I remember being 8 and asking my mom one day, "Mom, where is your plate of food?" She said, "It's okay honey, mommy's not hungry right now." When I was an older teen I asked my mom about it and learned she WAS hungry back then but skipped dinner to save money on food or sometimes had oatmeal or a piece of bread after we went to bed. She did this so we could eat the good food, and she got the scraps. Also, my mom was never mad if we didn't eat dinner or if we were picky one night, as she would get to eat the good food. (What was left on our plates) Such as sad reality, it's why I never want kids.
@specialtwice4975 I'm sorry you and your mom went through this. I hope things are better. I love my son but I don't recommend having children because of what you described. It's hard. I wish you well 💜
As soon as they were both in school full day I went to work. Struggling to get by for a few years doesn't mean you can't afford it as a whole. I'm too lenient with my kids. They have 10x what I did at their age(s). It's when people who are struggling financially continue having additional children that it becomes too financially difficult.
In the past wife's stayed home to raise the kids when they're just being born. Now our economy requires both parents to work. That's where grandparents can help somewhat but not everyone has parents who are alive still.
It's not even about them being alive. Most people I know the grandparents are too dysfunctional and/or self-absorbed to do that. They want the grandkids but they won't do what their parents/grandparents did to take care of them. Of the few that are, they don't have the money themselves to feed the extra mouths.
Many grandparents are either still working, have health issues, or are too dysfunctional. But also it is not the grandparents job to do all the raising anyway...its the parents! I can see babysitting once or twice a week to help out...but not everyday all day.
@@amandar614yup say your truth. Millennial parents need to get together and have communities to raise their children. If I have children, I don't expect my parents to raise them 24/7. They need their own lives too after raising my siblings and I. It just makes sense.
Thank goodness I had pregnancy Medicaid when I was pregnant and delivered. It's best not to have private insurance if you want to have a baby. I was working in WVA at the time working 3 jobs just to get 40 hrs of work. No insurance. This is why we need socialized health care. No one can pay those bills. It's ridiculous.
It costs $1,000 a month to adequately raise a child-and nobody can tell how long they will need that $1,000 either. So it's $750,000 per child. My preemie son and I were $2,000,000 in 2002 because I was in-patient for 2 weeks, he was early, then I nearly died.
You have to have a family that's willing to support you throughout parenthood to have a kid. Had I not had my family there's just no way my son and i would have made it.
If you get pregnant get health insurance. Also loophole to the whole once a year enrollment period is to get a new job with health benefits that will allow you to enroll before your due date and be covered. If your state has bad benefits move to a state with better benefits for this period of time. You can research this all online. Also you can price compare different hospitals. For the record I know its still hard and often unaffordable for people.
Note!! The prices are fucked. Please don't blame the doctors!! Blame the admins and the health insurance companies that actively squeeze as much money as possible out of hospitals, denying needed care, and unfairly push brand name medicine from their own subsidiaries
I have 2 it’s not that serious. If you need to budget they have options . Stop worrying of you don’t have kids and if you have kids you will figure it out ! That’s life ! There is options for everything it’s easy the only thing that isn’t easy is the emotional toll of when they get sick why? Because your going to worry your ass to a near death experience. Enjoy the ride and stop worrying about cost because it really nothing .
I also fix that problem when I was 22 years old. I made that decision. To give NONE OF YOU A KIDS. i will pay of bills at least that can came to an stop. 😂 i love that no one will ever find out 😂.
When my sister was 4 yrs old, my mother cooked a special dinner one evening. It was in celebration of paying the last bill to the hospital that delivered her. My mom announced "Well, we get to keep you now." I yelled out "you mean,I could gave gad her repocessed? "
Soooo I don’t fully agree with the idea that only the wealthy are having kids. In my limited world view I still see impoverished folks birthing babies by the boatload. And I do see wealthy folks having kids. The only group that I see (in my limited experience) not having kids these days are those in the middle. Foster care is still full. Child hunger is still prevalent. There are still tons of kids that are “wards of the state”. I may not be able to have my own biologically, but I can volunteer and support youth who are in care.
Because the privileged can afford it better and need an heir. The underprivileged have access to programs to pay for it. The middle class would be stuck paying & possibly having difficulties to finance the reproduction

humans dont care about the conditions kids are born in. as long as they have one/kids that is all that matters. people like having kids in dire conditions.
It’s simple. I just go without. That’s how us parents are surviving. We are caring for the kids, and suffering silently through it. There’s your answer. - From someone who’s raising a child in this day in age.
For the woman in the blue Tshirt itemizing her costs, only a third of that cost was related to anything that a doctor might have done. And even that was likely overinflated with ridiculous hospital fees. So the majority of her bill was for the privilege of physically staying at hotel hospital.
Get medical insurance. Get a used car. Learn to cook and bake. Buy at thrift stores. Get the cheapest cell phone plan. Don't buy a house if you can't afford the mortgage. Downsize. Grow your own food. Bring your own lunch from home.
Just sell a kidney, why not both? You're gallbladder is useless as well just sell everything and get all the spare change you can from the foolish people that pass by 😂
You don’t need med insurance if you are young and take extra good care of you. Just pay self pay for doctor visits and expect to never be hospitalized. If you are for like appendicitis, and you don’t own a an asset, you can get charity care of some kind unless you are high income. Also you may not have to pay at all if you dispute the bill in writing during the “validation period”. I did this while I was on low income and never paid a cent
Что это за безумные цены на медицину?! Больше 2 тысяч долларов за анастезию?! Это буквально 3 бутылька лекарств. Кажется медицина становится одним из методов отмыва денег для корпораций, лоббирующих здравоохранение.
It's difficult but not impossible. Parents sacrifice a lot. Also, you have to get creative when it comes to buying for your child. Many people get their children's clothes and toys from yard sales, consignment shops, and Goodwill (I did). Also, it's helpful to belong to support groups where you can trade/barter goods and services (like babysitting). Also, you don't have to take your child to the doctor every time they sneeze or cough; and utilize on call docs online that can give valuable advice for cheap.
Yes, but some people do what society tells them. "Have a kid" they say before your a certain age they say." They don't tell you all the stress, financial obligations, fees, and dedication it takes to be a parent. It's good to make that decision when you have already started financially planning to have children before they are born. Be of sound mind too. No child should live in dysfunction. If not ready it's best not to have children at all. Some people don't get it now. I like people like you.
Realistically it takes early career salary growth for both parents starting in early 20s, to build up over 10 years to be able to provide for a kid or two. Health Insurance for myself and two kids is $800/mo. Daycare is $4,000/mo Good luck All!
Living in the Netherlands, I have never been more happy with our health insurance. Yes it’s mandatory so we have no choice, but we also don’t go bankrupt due to medical debt 😱 Those prices are WILD. Our insurance costs about 100-125 euros per month ($105-130) and there’s a mandatory 385 euro yearly deductible. Plus some small co-pays for certain types of medication. If I live until 80 and pay 125/month, I will have paid roughly 95K. By that time the insurance will have covered that amount multiple times over. If you give birth, have any type of operation, need treatment for a disease like diabetes or cancer… everyone at some point needs medical care. And at those high costs, you can’t save up for that on a normal, average income. I’ve had one operation in my life and that alone probably cost more than 90K.
God and one day at a time and a Good Husband... honestly its been rough lately i ain't gonna lie i normally keep lots of food lately i been like WOW!!!! I NORMALLY COOK MEALS DAILY BUT THATS CHANGED MY HUSBAND TAKES THEM TO BUFFETS MUCH CHEAPER THIS IS CRAZY!!! $47,000 for birthing a baby😢the hospitals are Crazy. THANK God for Arkansas Arkids Medicaid i didn't get a bill for 3 kids. Truly Grateful to God this is insane. Arkansas is bout thr cheapest state to live and have children no lie. These big cities are gouging smh shame.😢They charged the baby come on.
Homegirl in the blue shirt I wish she would put what insurance company she is with because wow they basically covered everything, I would only do a home birth now I see why so many opt for it now
Because u have to play the game and beat the system. First off avoid getting married before having your kids so only one income is considered. Secondly, take a step back from your job/career. When I was planning to conceive I knew I needed to make way less to qualify for Medicaid so I didn’t have any out of pocket copays/coinsurance/deductibles to worry about. I had preeclampsia. My baby stayed in the NICU for 160 days then got transferred to a children’s rehab. She’ll be home in Oct. My expenses: $0. Following the rules gets u no where. Play them how they play us.
They expect people to pay 15-30k a year per child for childcare before even sending the child to school. They expect you to buy a house with a bedroom for each child as well as your own room, so if you have 3 kids, a 4 bedroom house, at least. They expect you to buy the child their first car, pay for their college. They expect you to buy all clothes first hand. My husband and I are having just one child. I can have more money if I work online or part time around hubby's schedule and not send my child to daycare. We were going to buy a 2 bedroom house with a basement or extra space for a home office anyway before we got pregnant, and that's enough space to also raise 1 child. If my child wants a car, they will have to save up and buy their own, something used, like I did. You can get a 10-15 year old toyota or honda for a decent price if you look. I got through college on scholarships and student loans...but now, I would not recommend in person university for my child considering how low my wages are compared to my education. there are decent online colleges that are cheaper (I did my Master's at WGU), there are community colleges or technical schools... there are other options. Consignment shops and thrift stores sometimes have brand name clothes, I shop there sometimes and it saves money. ... I think frugal parents can still raise a child at 100-200k cost. The people throwing around 300-500k per child are buying bigger houses, brand new cars, paying for college, putting them in the more expensive after school activities, letting their kids stay at home without paying for at least their own food and utilities costs way past adulthood... Yes, I'm aware that my parents not providing the best nor paying for a head start is why I am more broke than a lot of people 10 years younger than me. I moved out on my own and paid my own way immediately at 18. My kid can stay home longer as long as they buy some of their groceries and help with utilities, but that's all we will likely be able to do. I am aware there is no upward mobility because the rich and poor gap is so massive. So instead of having multiple kids, I'm just going to pour what I can into one kid...
Also, it costs way more than half a million to raise a child until adulthood. Idk where they got that number from, at cheapest it's 1 million assuming they can make it on their own after college.
I don’t really like that lady at 15:40 talking about how some of us say “if you can’t afford daycare just don’t have kids” yeah we say that. Why? Because our tax dollars go towards little people we don’t have, to be raised in a way we don’t agree with. So many kids are here but not really spending time with their parents because their parents are working because they thought “why not have kids? It will all work itself out.” As for who is going to take care of us in our old age? I don’t care about that question because currently I take care of my mom and it is mentally exhausting. I wouldn’t put my child through that. I get that they are the future workforce but even now we are seeing that less and less of us are needed to perform jobs. Eventually the workforce will shift to the areas people are actually needed and other areas will be replaced by emerging technologies. I’ve spoken to my partner and he would like one child and we plan on adopting older children within the next three to five years. But we are not just going into this hoping things will work out. We need to be the best parents we can be and are preparing for that so we are not the ones complaining about the costs of raising children.
Parents like her I would never talk to. Thinking that their children are supposed to take care of them when they get old. I too, watched my parents take care of my grandparents without any help from relatives, including siblings. My parents told me they never want me to go through that and would rather go through assisted su*c*de than put that burden on me. And I offered to help them but they vehemently said no. Wishing you all the best, sending love and light ❤
Boomers asking their millenial kids when they're going to get married and have kids: You got grandkids money? Okay then don't ask me no mo!
That part 🎯🤌👏👏👏
Yep. They gotta pitch in for college if they want a grandkid in a meaningful way.
THIS! 💯
😂😂
Boomers are the great-grandparents while gen Xer's are the grandparents!
If taking care of their gen X siblings was a hassle....what sense did it make to ADD MORE children (*that NEVER asked to be here!*) to their already-stressed-out, poverty-stricken lives???? They're the main ones who talk a bunch of ying-yang bullshit about all the so-called ‘opportunities’ they had/could've had but placed on hold or on the back-burner because they just "had" to "sacrifice" THEIR OWN dreams/aspiration for kids that NOBODY asked them to have! Kids that NEVER asked nor chose nor CONSENTED to being born in the first place!
And they wanna get on childfree millennials and childfree gen Z'ers about having kids they KNOW that they want NOTHING to do with! 🤦
"iT tAkEs A viLLaGe", right? 😒🤦
Give me grandkid money!

I have four children aged 26 - 33 and none of them want to have children , can't say I blame them.

We do have a choice, childbirth rates will continue to plummet.

I’m personally not having kids unless I’m THRIVING!! After living the struggling life from birth I’m never going to put anyone through that.

That second video, triplets in the nicu without insurance. That’s like instant bankruptcy.
Right??!!
Over a $1,000,000
It's almost like people should make better life decisions and not put themselves in the position to get pregnant when they cannot afford it.
And vice versa
Being single and childfree is a blessing from God.
In more ways than one🙏🙏🙏

My kid gets all my attention and we started traveling abroad together! He needs to see a world outside of this society lol. I wouldn't be able to travel at all if I had another child.

Most people with children struggle. The rest (deadbeats) have them and don't provide. Oh and no one ever fully pays those hospital bills...EVER 😢😂

No, that’s not your responsibility. You’re enabling his behavior by giving him money. What if he’ll keep having more kids?
As a nurse we document everything in the patients chart and at the bottom sometimes you have to remember icd10 codes for each product you give or procedure you do.. later the IT or insurance people add it all up for the patients and billing processes begin.

The insurance is why the hospitals are able to bill so much. They know insurance companies are able to pay much more than an individual
So when someone asks why I am childfree I will gladly send them this video.
To the woman that thanked insurance companies. Dont. Its their fault we are in this mess. They made everything more expensive.
The people in the US need to protest this. Women even if you want children go on strik. That vavuvu is closed till giving birth is affordable. 5 years of no or minimal births should be enought.
That will never happen. What’s the protest?

I remember being 8 and asking my mom one day, "Mom, where is your plate of food?"
She said, "It's okay honey, mommy's not hungry right now."
When I was an older teen I asked my mom about it and learned she WAS hungry back then but skipped dinner to save money on food or sometimes had oatmeal or a piece of bread after we went to bed.
She did this so we could eat the good food, and she got the scraps.
Also, my mom was never mad if we didn't eat dinner or if we were picky one night, as she would get to eat the good food. (What was left on our plates)
Such as sad reality, it's why I never want kids.

As soon as they were both in school full day I went to work. Struggling to get by for a few years doesn't mean you can't afford it as a whole. I'm too lenient with my kids. They have 10x what I did at their age(s). It's when people who are struggling financially continue having additional children that it becomes too financially difficult.
Parents are the real MVPS out here. 💯💯💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
Lots of people can't afford them. They just rely on government or family help.
Kids are a luxury these days.

It costs $1,000 a month to adequately raise a child-and nobody can tell how long they will need that $1,000 either. So it's $750,000 per child. My preemie son and I were $2,000,000 in 2002 because I was in-patient for 2 weeks, he was early, then I nearly died.
I agree. It takes atleast $50k to support myself and that’s just basic necessities. I’m gonna need atleast 100k to support another person.
If you have to get “creative” in modern day America, then it isn’t worth. There’s no reason other than greed to do this to people.

Childcare For All if:
The funds are taken from the Defense Budget
It is in the form of a Tax Credit, so parents can still choose their healthcare
“That hurt more than the contractions” 😂
Ladies, shop around for an affordable hospital, birth center, or midwife! You have 9 months to compare costs. Babies don't have to cost a lot.
And then people wonder why women aren't having kids. It's not even an option to consider if you can't even afford to give birth...
