I personally love this part of history we don't know anything about until now. Ms Sarah is a brilliant young woman with a lot of drive within her. She has helped all those women attain the freedom they all want and deserve.
Learning about the Matchstick Girls made me feel the same way I did when learning about the Radium Girls. How many other women's horrid work stories have gone unheard in history? So I appreciate Enola Holmes 2 bringing this to light!
Exactly. And it's the fact that women's history and rights are almost never taught in schools and if it is its such a small portion. This causes people to take issues like sexism unseriously. I'm so proud of Millie for making such a wonderful peice and its also the fact that she got tons of hate from misogynists and faced a bunch of sexism as she started blowing up, that makes me even more happy for her.
My little brother just finished his play, they did Radium Girls, and it was cool watching Enola Holmes because it was so similar. Terrible stories, but so moving.
I really love how the movie encourages us to stand up for ourselves, be brave and independent but at the same time, telling us not to forget that being independent doesn't necessarily equal being alone. We should find our allies, find the people we can trust and can rely on. I admire that they incorporated a real and important part of history in the movie. It really inspires me, as a young girl, to not be afraid of all the possibilities in the future. 🥰💗
Thank you so much for sharing this story! Equally important to remember is that the fight is not over. Factories are now mostly over seas, but their workers still work for low wages, and in harsh conditions. Just because modern production of most everything we use is out of sight, out of mind, that doesn't mean we can ignore it. The Matchstick Girls have a legacy that still lives on today, and a lack of rights for factory workers is still an issue. Wishing anyone who reads this a lovely day, and never be afraid to stand up for yourself. Now, go forth and harness your inner Enola Holmes.
We need to continue to bring more awareness to the issues that have never been addressed and one of the things I like about this film is that it educates us about these critical historical events and inspires us to carry this incredible legacy. Love this film!!! ❤❤❤
I am so glad Netflix/Enola Holmes production team are attempting to draw attention to this. It is a very timely reminder that rights are fought for not gifted.
Anyone else cry at the end of the film? Not when tewkesbury and enola were being all cute, I squealed happily then. I mean at the credits 😅 I’m so grateful for them because I am a working class female and without those protests who knows what life could still be like now.
This historical event/story still resonates today as there still is low pay, long hours, restricted bathroom brakes, and a lot of other restrictions that companies put on their workers!!
I love hearing inspiring stories like this! You never know how many unsung heroes there are in the world until you start to do some digging. Enola Holmes 2 is such a fantastic film!
A remarkable feat that started with a tiny drop of defiance! The Matchstick girls truly brought about change that could never have been imagined. Thank you for telling their story, it means so much to all of us.
Thank you so much for sharing this fuller story. It's so important! I hope you promote it widely and that you continue to create Enola Holmes stories featuring these kinds of important stories.
As a teenager I was fascinated by the history of the labour movement and read about this strike. It was very interesting for me to watch this film, have a sense of déjà vu, and think wait a minute, what have we here, and the delight at seeing the strike near the end of the film. I love how these films have a sense of social justice, for women, for the poor, for decency. They take sides and don't ignore the realities of that period of time.
I don't know what can I say. It is just amazing that something like this happenend. And the fact of making the scene and the scene herself is phenomenal. Blown away. I was crying and totally felt it.
HOW are we not taught this school!?! Like seriously one of the first events that sparked fair treatment of workers and workers rights. Women really are badass
Such a beautiful story! this is most inspiring remarkable important message and love this so much and and incredible and strong strength and made a difference made history ❤
I imidiately after the communicate that the story is true checked it on google go to Wikipedia and read about it. I even checked my history book but there is nothing in there about it and I was dissapointed. I am in history class I wanna know already and
Pity it is caught up in so much over the top wokeness though. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would be rolling over in his grave. Sherlock Holmes is made out to be an incompetent fool where his sister is able to solve things he cannot . This is so insulting to such brilliant writing by a brilliant man. He never had a sister in the books so if they are going to insist on a female detective then just don't destroy the Legacy of beloved characters in the process is all we ask.
I love this movie but this is lowkey confusing, people say woman can do what a man could no but when they are actually do so hard work they don't want to do it, that kinda a contridiction. please correct me if i'm wrong.
I think you miss the meaning behind the story. Not wanting to work in unhealthy, downright dangerous conditions doesn't equal not wanting to work in general or that women don't want to work like men do. These women's actions helped make working conditions better for so many and women were obviously not the only ones who ever held a strike. Men do it all the time but no one sees it as them not wanting to work.

It's great that they decided to use a real story that empowers women for a film as huge as this!

What a powerful story and a good way to weave that part of history into the movie!! Whoever brought this idea up needs a raise!!

I hope we get to see more lost herstory in the next movie, as well as more Watson, Tewksbury&Elona, and maybe an Irene Adler? Love these movies!

It’s just a film. Two hours entertainment. Jeez

Jesus fkn christ who raised you. No way a person is THIS stupid
I like how when the movie came out men were like "yea right, that never happened" just to put down women. For no apparent reason.
