Marvel vs. Capcom, a series with a once-storied history that has been dormant for years. After Infinite marred the series' reputation so badly that it was written out of fighting game fans' headcanons, hoping for a new crossover between video game and comic 'verse giants felt like futility. Yet, like a sudden plot twist on the last page of the newest issue, MvC suddenly has life again! A surprise compilation of Capcom and Marvel's early collaborations has rekindled interest in the series, and its strong sales have restored hope that, maybe, a true Marvel vs. Capcom 4 could actually happen one day.
So, what if it it did happen?
Let's take a deep dive on what a future MvC4 title might be like! Including a (probably unrealistically large) roster of characters, featuring plenty of veterans returning from the series' past (including before Infinite--you know who I mean) and a new class of newcomers waiting to square up against two worlds' best and brightest. And some details on how they'd fight and stand out in a series so famous for being so over-the-top!

How do youtubers write, record, and edit a video about a topic of interest to share with a fandom community, and then carelessly shove an ad in, ruining everything and making it all about money? No regard or sanctity held for your own creation is shameful and desperate.
I agree Jon Talbain/Galen should definitely be in a Marvel Vs Capcom game including other Capcom characters like Asura Wrath and Power Stone character and Gill from Street Fighter 3 and Hugo from Street Fighter 3 and and Base from Mega Man and for Marvel I want to see Blade Moon Knight Carnage Fantastic 4.

I think instead of just a seikret, the character could be a support palico riding a seikret, kill two birds with one stone.
Love the roster you put together, it covers nearly everything that I've gone for in my own roster.
However, one misstep that I'd personally correct is removing The Beyonder as a playable character, but keeping him as the boss. Traditionally, the main boss character of a given MvC game is never playable save for cheat codes or limited modes, and for a game like this it'd be no different. I love the idea of having a character take The Beyonder's power to become a new boss, and I think having Loki be an additional option for a character to do this rather than just Bass.EXE would be just as appropriate.
As for who could take Beyonder's slot, I'd go for The Thing. With the new Fantastic Four film coming up, I have no doubt in my mind that there will be a newfound appreciation for him that I think Marvel vs Capcom really should take advantage of. And of all the First Family's members, Ben is the one that most often goes solo, so his inclusion without Johnny, Reed, or Sue would be easily excusable. His gameplay should be really easy to differentiate from similar heavyweights like Hulk and Haggar.
To be fair, Ultron and Sigma are playable in MvC Infinite (and its new QoL mod) and their fused form is a final boss.
Ok, seeing the Seikret added to the roster had me *really* confused at first, but it aggroing other large monsters for Supers is hilarious and genius! Just imagine it casually bringing in a Fatalis or Safi'jiiva and blowing up half the screen (and your retinas)-
I'm legitimately shocked by this roster.
Most MVC4 rosters I've seen are apparently made by people traumatized by the MCU because the Marvel side in those have like 90% X-Men and barely have characters like Captain America or Iron Man.
But, hey, Marvel over-representation is only good as long as it's the damn X-Men, right?
It’s usually those who are deep into the FGC without a ton of Marvel experience that lean too heavily on the X-Men. But yeah, balance is key. (U)MvC3 in particular did a pretty good job of this.

9:18 Really glad to see Bass.EXE here, he’s one of my top picks from the Capcom side for MVC. One somewhat out there idea I had for a Hyper Combo for him would be for him to summon Gospel for a short period of time to attack alongside him.
Oh, Gospel’s the final boss. That’s also a real cool way to use them, I didn’t think of that one. Also, Beyonder having Slayer-esque animations sounds really fun.
Overall, a pretty strong roster, I’d be pretty excited to see this game in action with this kind of cast. Your DLC choices seem good too, Vergil and Thanos do feel like they’d get the Akuma treatment and get saved for DLC.
Also, Fire Emblem Fighting game as a poll option! Woo!
I kinda want Smash 6 Stages to win but a Fire Emblem fighting game video has never been done by anyone so that too I guess
Nice job on the roster. I really like how you handled selections here, definitely satisfying some good fan demands but not overprioritizing them like a lot of fan rosters do. Also nice take on a MvC story
I’d personally throw in Mega Man’s arch enemy; Dr. Wily. He’d play very differently from everyone else on the roster. Being in a very large mecha that takes up a good chunk of the screen and having an equally large supply of weapons and tools to suit a variety of situations. Though it comes at a rather “make or break” price…
He’s exclusively a solo fighter. No teammates or assists allowed (unless you count a move where he summons a Robot Master for support). The huge hurt box of his mech also makes him combo food if his opponents get in. To be short, Wily is a playable boss character in more ways than one. But those willing to master him may find he’s the only one they need.
Also, I know it’s not on the Patreon poll vote, but I hope you do a possible fighting game roster for Sonic the Hedgehog (maybe a moba or RTS if you want to mix it up.)
oh, like Tatsunoko vs Capcom. If you wanna do it like that we should probably give Marvel its own giant to compensate. who, I do not know, partly because I'm not keen on Galactus and don't remember anybody better

Hmm… How about Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur? Devil would do most of the fighting and Moon Girl would use her gear for specials and supers.
For an extra weird character(s), how about Zack & Wiki?
Coming from a point-&-click game, they’d have plenty of tools at their disposal. But the real kicker would be their unique ability to turn living creatures into inanimate objects and vice-versa.
For example, imagine a special move where a frog hops onto the screen before slowly jumping forward. It doesn’t do much damage on its own (it can mainly be used as a distraction), but Zack & Wiki can turn it into a bomb that stays in place, but explodes on contact with an opponent.
Sucks that that game is still trapped on the Wii.

I always like to remind people, if you're upset a certain character didn't make a fan roster, it's very likely the fan who made it is just as upset about having to cut them

I like this trend. I still think thorgi’s roster has aged better cuz Vergil is in the base roster but Vergil will always be DLC in every game he’s in. This is by no means a bad roster. at least you’re not Maximilian Dood and Matt McMuscles putting in a certain Alien v Predator character. I will say I think you’re the first one to keep ameterasu which I respect.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Strider Hiryu originally from a manga & the creator just allows Capcom his video game rights? As such I like to think getting Lin Kurosawa is probably just a more complicated web of rights to unweave than him admittedly.
Thorgi is planning on remaking his MvC4 roster soon, if the new X-Men Fighting Game roster video is anything to go by.

The way I CHEERED when I saw Bass.exe on this roster. He’s just such a cool fit AND you made him the boss? Sweet. I’ve seen a few MvC4 build the roster videos and this is definitely the one I vibe with the most. Maybe smash bros players’ brains just think alike lol

I was going to say you can’t have a Marvel vs Capcom game without Vergil but I forgot they already did that. Besides having him as dlc would keep his ‘special edition’ status in tack

Marvel Side: Spider-Man (Peter Parker), Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Wolverine, Storm, Gambit, Deadpool, Magneto, Psylocke, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Loki, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, Fantastic Four (Mr. Fantastic is the main fighter, the rest show up for specials and super moves), Doctor Doom, Ultron, Spider-Man (Miles Morales), She-Hulk, Squirrel Girl, Ant-Man and Wasp, Green Goblin, Daredevil, Scarlet Witch, Thanos.
Capcom Side: Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Luke, Jamie, Kimberly, Mega Man, Mega Man X, Zero, Tron Bonne, Morrigan, Felicia, Demitri, Leon, Lady Dimitrescu, Dante, Vergil, Nero, Phoenix Wright, Apollo Justice, Amaterasu, Viewtiful Joe, Gene, Frank West, Asura, Akira Kazama, Tessa, Mike Haggar, Strider Hiryu, Ruby Heart.

Vergil can never be playable in the base roster of a game, he’s Vergil from the Special Edition Series and MVC3 Ultimate. But aside from that, I did not consider Miles Edgeworth but he makes perfect sense as DLC too!

Okay so this was a pretty solid roster but like c’mon man did you really have to shaft the Fantastic Four again? Also Howard the Duck would’ve been a really cool pick that embraced the silly side of MvC and explores a part of marvel we haven’t seen yet
I remember during the MvC3 days that they tried for Human Torch, but both RAM issues & Marvel’s “All-or-Nothing” approach to the F4 made them go for Kl’rt instead. I wonder if that same policy exists today, especially since MUA3 & (going by the leaks) Marvel Rivals still adhere to it.
If it doesn’t, my pick would be Invisible Woman replacing Beyonder (still a boss, just non-playable). Kl’rt uses her powers the least in MvC, so the door can still be open to him eventually returning. Plus it only would further help the relative lack of ladies in this roster. You can also still call the rest of the F4 as assists like Captain Commando does his crew.
Roster looks great overall, for Morrigan I would give her a mechanic where she can switch to Lilith mode like how Ryu could in MVC1 where he can change into Ken or Akuma, I’d also add a third Darkstalkers character in Donovan via DLC, it’s crazy how Anita is a secret character in Marvel Super Heroes but Donovan himself never got in. There’s also more Capcom villains I’d love to see such as Vile and Pyron.

@ I just felt the transforming mechanic would be a good compromise since Darkstalkers is already competing with other Capcom franchises for slots, MVC2 has had the most DS characters so far.
Please, if Marvel vs Capcom 4 is made, i wanna see Peter. (The guy from Deadpool) and Peni Parker. The Spider Verse movies are so good, so a character from there will be nice.

In comparison to many other rosters I have seen this one is really good. It has variety and it has obscure grabs which I love and thankfully it's not over flooded with X-Men characters. Personally I would have cut out bishop and instead put nova sam Alexander so he can be with Kamala and Miles and have the main champion trio.

Fun fact, Iron Fist’s ending has a “Shang Chi vs Ken Masters” match in a bracket seen behind him. So seeing that actually happen in a MvC game would be cool. For Darkstalkers rep, MvCI fumbled since Lilith was right there with Jedah and the Soul stone and instead we got a boring Symbiote Dino, so I do hope she finally debuts. Zangief should return instead of Haggar since we haven’t seen him in a while

Aside from the roster size itself, I think this is pretty realistic for choices. Still leaves a lot of room for highly requested characters to come as DLC while setting a "variety" standard in the base game. Great vid! Hope the franchise allows you to continue to make these videos in the future lol

This roster is sick! One of the best, if not, the best take for a MVC4 hypotetical roster! Maybe Akuma, a Rivals Schools character, Super Skrull and Star Lord could make this roster much better in my opinion, but this amazing tho!
This is actually the most solid roster I've seen. Most others have either been FGC people loading up the Capcom side with fighting game characters or comics fans loading up the Marvel side with X-Men, and both of them kinda firing blindly on the other side.
Only real things I might change:
- It's way past time for a member of the Fantastic Four to be playable, so I'd swap Sue Storm in for one of the newcomers. Maybe Scarlet Witch or Loki. I think Sue has the most interesting potential of the four, as her invisibility, bubble shields, and energy constructs could make her an interesting trap character. And she could call in the other 3 to help with her supers.
- The X-Men picks are mostly covering the 80s/90s golden age, which is understandable since that's what most people know best, but X-Men is so much bigger than that. So I'd swap Bishop for someone who doesn't cover that same ground. Magik would be my top pick, to represent the New Mutants, but also because she's a character who's exploded in popularity in recent years. Laura Wolverine could work, though I guess she'd technically be a returning character. Goblin Queen could be an interesting villain, one of the big ones who hasn't been in the series yet. Or get a bit silly with it and add, like, Glob Herman, or Doop.
- I'd use Marisa to represent SF6 instead of Luke. Admittedly this is partly bias since she's my main, but also she'd give the Capcom side a second heavyweight besides Haggar.
I was going to comment about the FF, totally agreed. Sue is one of my most wanted newcomers.
As far as FF-adjacent characters go, I’d also love to see the Silver Surfer.
Bishop’s fine, I’d say swap Kurt & Armor around.

If you're gonna use a monster from Monster Hunter, Rajang is Hulk sized and his Monster moveset translates directly into a fighting game character
Rajang is actually decently bigger than Hulk (15ft vs. 9ft respectively). If anything, Rajang might be slightly bigger than Sentinel Model COTA-94.
@Neoxon619 variable sizes. Rise Rajang ain't that big and there are small ones, Megaman isn't as big in his games as he is in mvc, etc etc.
With the Beyonder as the main villain I'm surprised you didn't include Moon Girl, considering his prominent role in her recent cartoon. She could even explicitly be the cartoon version and hoping to patch things up with Beyonder after [SPOILERS], only to be disappointed when it turns out to be a different version of him than the one she knows.

Nice! I would replace the Beyonder with a Midnight Suns character however. Bosses usually aren't really playable. A character like Ghost Rider/Blade/Magik would do well.
I'd say Blade would be a good call, especially since he (like Miles) got screwed out of (U)MvC3.

i'd rather see their take on a game like civilization but with like, the various kingdoms and governments from their games. Hyrule, the Mushroom and Koopa Kingdom, Inkopolis, etc. It'd be fun.

I would like to see as a boss, the House of M version of Scarlet Witch, that would be a perfect opportunity to make her bring back the giant bosses as her subordinates, making her a atypical boss similar to how they did with Mech-Gouki

Honestly, I’m kinda glad you reserved Thanos for DLC instead of base roster. He was already more-or-less a big deal in the comics before the MCU, but those movies basically escalated him into _the_ Marvel villain. It’s to the point where his presence in the story would likely eclipse the actual main plot. Heck, that basically happened in MvC Infinite-the subplot involving him, Death, and Jedah was *way* more interesting than the Ultron-Sigma stuff.

The seikret could work but, maybe add the palico riding the seikret, acting as support, or you could even add the palamute, they can work kind of like pokemon trainer in smash bros. you would input a command and switch between the seikret and the palamute, they can have their own moveset and have the palico support the two of them. Their hyper combos can be the same. I can even see a hyper combo being the palico using the kittenator lol

Personally, I really want to see Mega Man Star Force get some representation. It feels as if it's the most neglected Mega Man subseries, having the least exposure of the seven. It & Legends are the only ones without a Legacy Collection, but at least Legends has crossover material to keep its exposure up while there are only a couple of Star Force crossover instances, such as Rockman X Dive & Super Smash Bros. (the latter being just a nonplayable cameo).
That said, I was not expecting Phoenix Wright to be among the veterans, but I am ecstatic that he did make it here. It could be a chance to flesh out what Ace Attorney can offer as a series, even with him as the sole playable rep.

I agree, but I'm not sure if Marvel still has that "All or Nothing" approach with the F4. If not, I'd go for Sue & have her call the rest of the F4 as Captain Commando-esque assists.
@ it depends, invisible woman was cut from MvC3 due to being to similar to phoenix, so it would depend on who gets top billing.

I don't know enough about the past characters from MvC and its history of inclusions (although I know there are some weirdos), but I would love to see Ghost Trick represented in a fighting game. It wouldn't work in a Platform Fighter, but I can see it working in a more traditional fighter like MvC. I think it'd be Lynne (to avoid spoiling anything too big in the end of the game), with moves that use Sissel and Missile to attack. I think she'd be something like Phoenix Wright, except with less lawyer-ing and more inanimate object attacking. Also, the mechanic could possibly use a second life mechanic, which I believe Phoenix had, but less overpowered and more about gaining a little bit more damage and other stuff.
If I had to make any changes, I’d probably swap Squirrel Girl for Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur, Juri for Kimberly or Marisa, Doc Ock for Sam Cap, and Nightcrawler for Blade or Killmonger. But you otherwise did a pretty good job with your roster, & bonus points for having Armor as DLC.
With that said, Deadpool’s movies weren’t part of the MCU until the last one in the trilogy. Likewise, Peter’s perfect attendance mostly applies to MvC specifically instead of the crossovers that preceded MvC1.

In terms of gameplay, I could see Luella being a tech-heavy character with a Level 3 that lets her temporarily control Devil via her mind-swap device (it used to be her Inhuman power, but Marvel has been moving away from the Inhumans after Perlmutter was fired).

It's a safe list but honestly the most realistic list I would say. Hard to say what will really return. I definitely want the MVCI active tag system back. You can still make it 3v3. But it does need a new system.
Nice choices! My favorite newcomers were Bass.exe, Leon, and Squirrel Girl (plus Gospel as the final boss). If I could pick a couple characters, it'd probably be Gene from GOD HAND, and Doctor Strange (though I don't know who they'd replace).

My ideal roster would be an everyone is here like ssbu but with some minor tweaks(Remove bone wolverine, make Captain Marvel classic Ms. Marvel because this roster would be comic centric instead of movie centric. And make roll the one from legends) I would also add some new characters on both sides. Capcom: Juri, Makoto, Cody, Luke, Akira, Edward Falcon, Jon Talbain, Riku, Donovan, Lady, Nero, Bass.exe, Leon Kennedy, Francisca Von Carmen, Tessa, Linn Kurasawa and Asura. Marvel: Punisher, Dr. Octopus, Black Cat, Power Man, Blade, Mr. Fantastic, The Thing, Elektra, The Echantres, Loki, Jubilee, Quicksilver, Silver Surfer, ROM, The Mandarin, Tigra, Mr. Sinister and Green Goblin.
If I were to add more characters to the roster then my pick would be Shuma-Gorath because I love his moveset and Ingrid who hasn't appeared in another game after Street Fighter Alpha 3
other option for a monster hunter character, it could be a Rathalos from monster hunter storys, so the size woundn't be a problem or the palicos/palamutes

I think your what roster is pretty perfect. The only difference is I think it would probably have 52 characters because Doctor strange is a very important character you can't cut and I feel like there should be at least one more marvel villain, probably Thanos. As for Capcom, definitely one more Capcom villain. Probably M bison and would be nice to see Ken again

With how big Sentinel is I think there’s a few bigger monsters that’d work fine as playable, the issue is more length imo. Gos Harag though doesn’t really have the length issue plus they can keep him in his standing stance
The other issue is how wide a lot of the monsters can be, which can become hard the balance.
Please just give me the french guy with the gauntlet from Onimusha 3 and Punisher, thats all i want
