John Deere saw a 42% profit increase from 2022 to 2023, yet its decision to shift jobs to Mexico isn't driven by rising operational costs. Instead, it's about maximizing profits while disregarding the workers who built the company. John Deere is synonymous with tractors, a symbol of American ingenuity, progress, and rural life. Farmers, essential to our economy and food supply, embody the pride we take in our self-reliance to feed the nation. By outsourcing jobs, John Deere is betraying its country while clinging to a patriotic image it has long cultivated.

A friend of mine was laod off from QMC in Urbandale, IA. About 85-90% of their manufacturing is for Deere parts. Deere among other things wants a cost reduction on parts every 5 years on average. They always want cheaper parts and at least from what I’ve witnessed they will let auakity go if its cheaper and adequate. Deere is no longer top notch-and they will never be if they go with the “good enough” manufacturing attitude. I’ve seen this 1st hand being in manufacturing for almost 11 years of my life. Laser welding is the latest thing that has put a nail in the coffin of manufacturing who don’t keep up with that technology. But it’s been said before-a US company can’t compete with countries where the standard of living is so far below that of the US. To really gain a understanding of how the exonomy of a country can shift balances of power people need to read “Confessions of an Economic Hitman”, that book will open your eyes and scare TF out of you once you understand how the game works.
Most people are missing an obvious point: If your workers are in Mexico, then they will spend their money in Mexico. If your workers are in the US, then they will spend those dollars in the US, supporting other US workers and the US economy. These issues are not mutually exclusive. Trump is right on this one. If we outsource all of our industry then how does the average citizen make a living, and how does that effect the wider economy?
Every immigrant that has immediate family sends money to that family. Which benefits that country. This in the long run has a negative effect on our economy.
By spending money in Mexico you strengthen the Mexican economy and thus you have less people trying to illegally come to the US. Thus you win in another way, things are all intertwined so you need to look at the bigger picture.
It also makes independent of others control. We need to get back up and that means jobs must come back and deregulation must happen . The government needs to be limited and regulated by the people thru COS. WE SAY SO.

Trump said very clearly that many goods should be imported, but you cannot have critical factories, like steel factories, leaving the USA. He makes the point that America needs to be able to build their own steel vehicles, especially for military security. Every product that is made in America, makes America less dependent on other countries. Consider that the most successful car company in the last 20 years is Telsa. Tesla has made 100% of their cars in America, by making everything in the USA, including mining the ore for the batteries, and making all the castings, and batteries in America in their own Tesla factories.

Lambo I agree they always blame it on labor obviously that's a lot of the cost but the regulations and red tape in these blue run states is killing them
@@zuzanazuscinova5209 it’s been a four part assault on American labor 1. Free trade agreements work from a “utilitarian” perspective in that overall across the world wages rise, but in America the working class suffers, which is what libertarians miss 2. Payroll and income taxes work effectively as a fine our government imposes on employers who want to hire Americans. They pay no taxes on labor overseas, but if you want to hire an American worker at $100k, you pay 25k in payroll taxes and your employee only takes home 75k. So effectively to hire a 75k worker the employer has to pay 50k in fines annually. None of this affects overseas workers, only if you hire American. 3. Immigrants compete in all levels of the labor market, even “low skilled” immigrants when they lower wages on the bottom rung of the labor force, it forces workers to compete more and more with higher skilled workers, lowering wages for all labor eventually as workers who are not inclined for higher skilled work, have to get degrees and compete for those jobs anyway. 4. Regulations especially environmental, push manufacturing and other jobs overseas where those jobs are done in a completely unregulated environment, causing more pollution and harming the American worker
There are three scenarios .1 Do nothing and watch everything leave the country. 2 Put tariffs on imports. 3 Mexico pay US wages and benefits. You cannot compete with someone making a fraction of what you do. It’s about a level playing field. Trump has put the ball in, John Deere, or Mexico Court.
I get both sides, but as a farmer, you cannot compare an iPhone to a John Deere. People replace their iPhone every year. Most farmers keep a tractor for 10+ years.
Honey, they are just explaining the financial side of the situation, and the phone example is just an easy relatable example. When everything was Made in the USA in the 50's people bought what they needed. Products were made to last. If it broke down, we got them repaired. It's possible to buy products Made in America, but the mentality of the producer and consumer has to change.
Tariffs on Chinese products bankrupt a lot of American farmers after the Chinese retaliated by putting tariffs on Americans' farm products, especially soybean.
Tariffs on imports drives up prices creating the profit incentive for domestic production that ultimately drives prices down while building up the domestic economy. Tariffs also generate revenue that can be used to reduce taxes on Americans. This is why the Founders used tariffs and not taxes to fund government and grow the American economy.
@@stampede2012 The Founders- or really, anyone who stops to think about it for like 5 seconds- there is no moral, legal or ethical basis for taxing earnings. Because, by definition, the both the employer and the employee have agreed on a wage at which the work equals the wages. Or else the employee would quit, or the employer would fire. So it is an equal trade of equal value, money for work. Neither party gains. To tax this is outright theft. Tariffs on the other hand are sovereign acts between nations. Unlike individuals, no nation has a "right" either to transact or enjoy the fruits of transactions. Individuals have rights. Not nations. So tariffs are on solid ground economically, morally, ethically and legally. Think it through, the logic is unassailable. The question is why everyone thinks the opposite. That my friend is because we have for 100 years been using corrupt money designed to steal. Money influences everything. Corrupt money eventually corrupts everything. At this point we're leading to the solution, money engineered equally well to transact peer to peer quickly and efficiently without any need for a trusted third party, be a perfect store of value, and do this all for everyone everywhere in the world at near zero cost and with unbeatable security. But this comment is already too long to dive into ₿itcoin.
The government needs to get out of controlling business decisions. And the consumers need to step up and vote with their wallets. If JD wants to move to Mexico, and put all their employees from the US in the poor house, that's fine. We can never, ever, ever buy their equipment again. And they can go out of business. We have other options. The government needs to stay out of the markets. Period. At all times. At all. Ever. There, I fixed it.
That's true and I agree on the surface. The problem is companies like John Deere lobby against the right to repair and other practices that are already anti- capitalism. But on the campaign Trail no one wants to hear a 30-page tax code and how you're going to change it. Farmers have been outraged about JD for a long time and I think Trump just wanted to send a message for them while he's campaigning. Not only is John Deere going to do it, but over past years, John Deere locks out farmers from being able to fix their own tractors. You have to bring the tractors to the dealership. If you bypass a sensor of the tractor as a farmer to fix it to get your crops up as a quick fix before taking it to dealership to get fixed they will not fix it ever and blacklist that tractor from any future repair. As John Kerry would say, learn how to code.
All the lefts fault.....inflation was Biden....no one else
Most people are missing an obvious point: If your workers are in Mexico, then they will spend their money in Mexico. If your workers are in the US, then they will spend those dollars in the US, supporting other US workers and the US economy. These issues are not mutually exclusive.
Trump is right on this one. If we outsource all of our industry then how does the average citizen make a living, and how does that effect the wider economy?
We all become major brand owners? Is that possible? Ohhh.
WE SAY SO.

Consider that the most successful car company in the last 20 years is Telsa. Tesla has made 100% of their cars in America, by making everything in the USA, including mining the ore for the batteries, and making all the castings, and batteries in America in their own Tesla factories.

Agreed
@@zuzanazuscinova5209 it’s been a four part assault on American labor
1. Free trade agreements work from a “utilitarian” perspective in that overall across the world wages rise, but in America the working class suffers, which is what libertarians miss

Missing what Trump has said in his Presidency. Example. If cars come to America we have a 15 percent Tariff. But our cars going into the Country is 100 percent. This needs to be equal out.
"Adam, how do you process this?"
I'm out.
Exactly
Absolutely the number one reason I am voting for Trump. In a world economy you have to control greed with govt
We are over complicating it guys. Imagine if we ended income tax and corporate income tax, made it easier and faster to build buildings and infrastructure. And then put the same tariff on other countries that they put on us.
The amount of companies and businesses that would flood into the USA would be insane. You can reduce the cost to manufacture in the USA easily.
Then you would make this country into a Third World.
Because then you would have a country of nothing but ultra rich and dirt poor.
@@ronniekregar3482aka third world countries
@@ronniekregar3482 how? The average person would have more money! Companies could hire more people. It would be easier to start a business! So how would what I suggested equate to poorer people?
@@generalsirc2615 because that would create an anti competitive environment. The ones already at the top would just be lapping everybody and just widen the gap even further. It would be like a poker table, the ones with all the chips would just bully the rest of the table to the point they won't even be able to sit at the table anymore.
There should be an automatic 100% tariff on anything coming in that we can make here. Why is that so hard to understand. We can sustain ourselves. Does anyone study what we used to do before the new world order? Read what Lincoln said about tariffs. If there’s something special we can’t manufacture, fine import it. But we should stop the managed decline and become a super producer of everything.
That's what I love Trump!!!
Tariffs on John Deere in China will be passing on to the middle class so price will be Higher for American consumers This is a disastrous concept
Idaho Mom here. Open carry is awesome. I can go to church and at least 4 people are armed. Grovery store is the same.
Same here in Southwest Georgia
Love it! It’s what I miss about him
The purpose of the John Deere tariff threat is to change their mind.
No, it's to make Trump look good to his base
The business here helps small businesses in the area
It's all about taking our country back!
FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤AMERICA 🙏 ❤️ 🇺🇸 ✨️ 👌
Guess who will pay for it? Not John Deere.
Not American customers either. They wouldn't be able to afford it.
other companies will have lower prizes and john deere will loose market share, if is a good idea not sure, but the customer already said he prefers cheap over anything.
Phones are completely different from farm equipment. The farmers have a deal with government. John deere would not get hurt by staying here
John Deere need to stay here and work through this.
Why don't you discuss your concern with President Trump PBD?
First time PBD spoke against Trump about 200% Tariff.
Lots of States in America you can buy a 1200 square foot brick home for 150,000. Those states need more manufacturing. We have cheap labor in the US.
No way would I buy a Chinese tractor. Their quality is none and they produce junk…
I hear you there's a few for sale around here and I really need something for grading but the reviews and access to parts is horrendous
Can you imagine a Chinese car lol
They make iphones, Do you have one of those?...
They also make microchips that are integral to the operation of our critical and civilian infrastructure.
@@winstonrocco1981yeah Volvo is a Chinese car brand, they are great cars. Way better than Chevy
@@1aatlas
Taiwan makes the chips
I actually will pay more for made in America products no problem
There's those cheap mfers in the comments section, crying about cheaper products. You and I both know that American made products, are more expensive because they are always more reliable and last twice as long in most cases. I like certain things such as BMW ,Honda, and every other name brand of motorcycle and a lot of sport cars from other countries that are in my personal collection of automobiles and motorcycles, but my daily drivers are American made. I ride a Harley Davidson motorcycle most of the time, and Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, and Chevy.
@6:17 Thank you for expressing your completely sane judgment and common sense. No one want's to leave their native country for racism and bigotry just to live paycheck to paycheck anyway. besides much agricultural product is sold back to Mexico.
Applying taxes and tariffs to foreign made goods is exactly what the government is supposed to do to protect American jobs and american made goods. Give John deere 200% tariff.
When everything was Made in the USA in the 50's people bought what they needed. Products were made to last. If it broke down, we got them repaired. Because things are so cheap nowadays, both in terms of price and quality, we just throw them away and buy a new one. It's possible to buy products Made in America, but the mentality of the producer and consumer has to change.
Agree wholeheartedly. Everything including appliances is a fast moving consumer product now.
Bs, things aren’t cheap these days. How foolish of a statement
True
Those 1950's refrigerators are like cars from the 50s that look cool and look better than the junk made today
I’m the 70’s Japanese electronics drove American manufacturing to Mexico to compete, shortly after electronics manufacturing was gone altogether.
Tariffs on Chinese products bankrupt a lot of American farmers after the Chinese retaliated by putting tariffs on Americans' farm products, especially soybean.
Gates is the largest shareholder in deere. Time to change tractors.
I’ll happily pay 2x for my phone if it means American families can afford to live and eat.
Lies ..you guys haye when your nieghbor gets anything from the government. God forbid some poor person gets food stamps or free healthcare..
THANK YOU! Tariffs was the MAIN WAY to fund government because the income tax wasn't introduced until the 1920s
That's what a leader is standing up for the people that put him in office!
Fwiw, he met with representatives of farmers and agriculture during his presidency multiple times.
Nobody outside the US and Canada buy John Deere..fact
@@MrMooMoo088 Trump can't force John Deere to do anything. Or, at least, he shouldn't be able to. The people who buy their machines.....absolutely should.
@mattphillips1910 the reason the customers can't do anything about it is because John Deere has lobbied so aggressively to Corner the market. It goes well beyond right to repair which they have completely lobbied to sabotage. There are laws regarding emissions that farmers are essentially paying for.
I completely agree with you in a general sense, but I'm talking about John Deere specifically who has taken advantage of the crony capitalism we already have. I also think this statement was more of a political stunt to just make the farmers feel better until he can do something more realistic.
Trump isn’t forcing anyone to do anything. They can do whatever they want but they are going to pay if they are taking away from our economy. I love it!
Get rid of the regulations on corporations and they'll stay in the USA. Get rid of DEI, green initiatives, etc, and they'll stay.
Now think of the cost of transportation cost of putting a combine to the dealership both ways to and from. Maybe a cost of $1500 if your lucky
Pbd : “ Adam , how do you process this “ ?
Me ; stops watching, leaves comment and leaves
Correct me, who is going to pay tariffs? John deer or the buyers (American farmers). All this is helping china to make their cheap products more attractive around the globe.
The fight is not against Mexico, don’t forget that the North American agreement is trying to compete vs china to decide who will be the global leader.
