But he didn’t even comment about himself Earlier in the pod he said Kevin Spacey is one of the greatest American actors ever Why can’t he say Leo isn’t at that level

Christian bale. Michael fassbender. Christoph waltz. Javier Bardem. Viggo Mortensen. Jake Gyllenhaal. Cillian Murphy. Mads mikkelsen. Some actors of today I think are great and way better than Leo, who can be subtle in their acting not over the top.

@@Seanb33ee Leo can only do over the top and people mistake that for good acting lol. I would add Joaquin Phoenix to your list. His scene with the great Richard Harris in Gladiator where he finds out he will not be Emperor is so good. Making you feel some pity for a despicable villain. DiCaprio hasn't made me feel anything for his characters other than just me thinking to myself boy Leo is really trying to act good in this movie but I still just see him trying to act. 😂

Leo's crying scene with the little girl in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", was epic. That was deep my friend, very deep.
Hardly a side role. But he's right. DiCaprio has a certain presence on screen but lacks the intense charisma or depth of the greats. Why Scorcese thinks so highly of him after he's worked so extensively with true greats like De Niro and Keitel is a complete mystery. Probably just helps the financing of his movies cos Hollywood wants to push DiCaprio so hard as being a great. But in hindsight we'll look back and realise he was kind of a lightweight.
@@zootsoot2006 Ray Liotta only needed one scorsese movie yet Goodfellas is better than any scorsese leo movies combined. With the exception of The Departed but Nicholson was the star of that movie.
I have to say this: Stephen Baldwin is a GREAT Guest. He's very engaging and observant. Maybe I don't agree with everything he believes, but I respect his opinions & ideas.
I dislike Leo barking at people about their carbon footprint while he jet sets across the world with 20 yr old girls but he's obviously a fantastic actor, one of the greats
@@marksimons4108 I mean, yeah, he's hung out with Putin also. My point is that's a very small part of his itinerary in life. He mostly just hangs out and parties. It's not like he's Greta Thunberg or Al Gore with his activism.
Come to think of it. Leo isn't that great. He got better over the years, but he isn't at the level of Denzel or other legendary actors. It's the roles he got after Titanic that helped him get more recognition. Before that, he was just average in acting, the only people who use to watch his movies were teenage girls for his looks.
@@TheRbruin10 when he shoots titanic he was like 21/22 years old, but then he did movies like the aviator, blood diamond, catch me if you can, the wolf of wall street, the revenant, inception, shutter island, the great gatsby, the departed etc.
DiCaprio is legendary! I saw him on J. Edgar set in DTLA. He worked his ass off, laughed his head off with Armie at Craft Service, treated everyone like an equal and no joke, he got better with each take… I really upped my work ethic after seeing him work in person… Dude’s, the shit! 😊
Think he will take you to Davos with him? You know where they gather to figure out how to kill more people. America is doomed, way, way too many stupid.
@@carolmorgan6734 Leo was a self centered egotist that cared about nothing but bedding supermodels. Which was fine. I prefer celebrities being private. But, no awards. He discovers he's Green and reallyreally cares a lot and all of a sudden the awards start piling up
This is a rather dishonest title. He wasn’t attempting to SLAM DiCaprio. Just because he’s not a great actor doesn’t equate to a “slam”. I wouldn’t want to be a guest on this show if I knew my words would be mischaracterized.
@jason You are right in a sense and wrong in another. He was in fact "slaming" Dicaprio a little bit. But he never said that he was a "fraud". So yes, indeed, this title was dishonest and I'm being polite. Who's the fraud? The smart ass hosting this podcast. Anything for views on social media. What's the difference with corporate media at the end of the day? :(
Lmao dude said and I quote "Leo is not a good actor , doesn't have depth , doesn't affect people ) that's exactly what he said. Leo is one of the greatest actors of this generation because he's played every role.
A lot of people here don't understand what he's saying. He's not saying he's a bad actor, he's just saying he doesn't line up with the all time greats, which is a fair comment. When I think of acting performances that truly moved me, I don't think of Dicaprio.

Even blood diamond who really stole the show was Djimon Hounsou he made that movie lol
And Daniel Day-Lewis is somewhere making shoes. 😂 The irony, the greatest at the craft want to just go live normal/peaceful lives and half the world population are practically willing to sell their souls for fifteen minutes of fame…..
💯 regarding Gene Hackman. He easily flies under the radar because he' was never the "sex symbol" actor, but damn, he's been in some good ones going back to the 1960's.
Gene Hackman was good because he was very subtle and understated most of the time. He never overacted or came across as not genuine. There’s some actors who are good but you can tell their acting. Like Sean Penn he’s good but it feels like acting. Whereas Joaquin Phoenix feels like real and genuine.
To his point about Leo DiCaprio… I think the “love of the game” actors are the ones that get involved with projects where they are a footnote. From Shia Leboeuf teaching an acting class in Compton to David Schwimmer passing on Men in Black because of a commitment he made with his small town theater company… examples like these are artists, not just actors. They may not be the best but their love of the game sets them apart. Leo DiCaprio gives the impression he isn’t in love with the game, he’s in love with what the game affords him, regardless of his skill. Being good at something and loving that something is not mutually exclusive.
@Independent365 Tom Cruise wants to make movies that people see in theaters. Not every actor wants to make serious dramatic films Jackie Chan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Stalone these are action stars.
The Ballwin brothers might be bozos, but he's not wrong about Leonardo DiCaprio. Just look at his last five movies. It's basically the same character he plays at the same way. Whatever he had back in the basketball diaries era is long gone. I think people confuse movie star with talent. They are materially different.
Even if you're not a fan of Leo and you're entitled to your opinion no way you can look at his body of work starting from his teen years and not say he's not one of the greatest living actors working today like please be serious
@@Model_Roe his early work was great however most everything of late has been average at best and honestly he acts almost the same way… starting with the Wolf of Wall Street and going up to the departed and even into once upon a time in Holly. Even the streets of New York… as he got older his just became limited either he was calling it in or that’s who he is. But if you compare him to say Johnny Depp there’s simply is no comparison. Or Edward Norton work or Paul Giamatti etc. It’s now just variance of the same performance. When you compare him to his contemporaries you see his limited half octane range of acting . Just look at his old work compared to what he’s done recently, your fan . Then tell me you still think he’s amazing.
Your dumb. REVENANT, Django Unchained, what's eating Gilbert Grape, Blood Diamond, Aviator, Shutter Island, Catch Me if You Can, The Wolf of Wall Street, all these characters are vastly different the list goes on but I don't have all day. Robert Denero plays the same character all the time but no one cares.
I agree completely with Stephen Baldwin that Leo DeCaprio is NOT a good actor. I always thought he was mediocre at best and never understood why ppl thought he was so great. Baldwin hit the nail on the head -- NO DEPTH, and NOTHING that touches you. He's right! Never knew anything about this Baldwin but I like him; he's a no BS guy...straight shooter.
I always said that , Leo as teen was better than as an adult , before he met Scorsese his acting skills weren’t good, he is much better on picking the right people to work with than as an actor. Compare Ray Liotta in goodfellas and Leo in the wolf of wallstreet, similar movie same director, Ray was far better more natural on how he delivered his lines and portrayed the character than Leo , Baldwin is absolutely right
You contradict yourself tho, you say he was better as a teen and then that his acting skills were not good before Scorsese. He was great in Gilbert Grape, he was amazing in Romeo+Juliet, good in Titanic, great in Shutter Island, Aviator, The revenant, Django unchained...
I love all the people on here calling Baldwin a hater. He may not be a great actor but he studied the craft for years and knows the difference between good acting and bad acting better than anyone on here. Just because you watch movies and have an opinion doesnt mean you know jack sh-t about acting. All you know is if you like a movie or a performance or if it made you feel something. But you cant break down what specifically you liked about a performance, how the actor achieved his objectives BECAUSE YOU DIDN’’T STUDY THE CRAFT! Would you look at a surgeon and say the precision of his work is better than an others? Would you look at a plumber and say he did a better job than another plumber? No, but you watch a movie and all of a sudden you think you know what the hell you’re talking about. Heres an idea, STFU and listen and learn. After all, listening is the key for step in becoming an actor
I think Baldwin was perfectly fair here. I agree with him. Leo did not play the great roles in the theater. He is not a vocal technician at all. He's not a true chameleon outside of Gilbert Grape. I thought Leo could have been a Brando type actor. He's not at all. He also learned nothing from Orson Welles and all the great British actors
I'm glad you made this comment. I agree 100%. If you haven't studied the craft, then you have to defer to Stephen Baldwin's opinion. He knows the difference between a good actor and a great actor. Amazing how many people think that if you have a contrary opinion then you're a 'hater'. What's hate got to do with it ? You're exercising your judgment based on sound knowledge of a subject. All the best, Roy !
I may not know all the details that go into acting, but as an audience member for whom the craft is being created for, I have a say in whether or not the acting is good. Similarly, I may not be a baker, but I know a good cake when I taste it. Baldwin here is being a big hater. Idk why, Maybe Leo stole his girl a couple decades ago.
You're right. I'm sure Martin Scorsese has no idea what he is doing partnering with DiCaprio in most of his later movies. Hey, maybe his first pick was Steven Baldwin but he just couldn't get him to agree on the money.
I'd like to share an amazing experience I had growing up in Vegas in middle school. I actually had John Lithgow substitute my 6th grade earth science class for a couple of days. He was best friends with my teacher and he subbed our class while my teacher attended a seminar. John Lithgow was SO cool, down to Earth, but interesting, intelligent and super entertaining at the same time. Not to mention very tall. It was so cool to have him teach my class, an experience I'll never forget! 🏅
@@smsog2236 He's talking as of DiCaprio only chooses role based on box office, when if you look at his filmography. While he's been in movies that didn't work out, from 2002 onwards. Its clear that he only picks projects that he fully believes in, and the budgets for them are all over the place. Baldwin is talking as if he's doing things like The Rock or Reynolds. Where there is nothing wrong with their chosen career path, do are great at what they do and what they do brings a lot of joy to people. But I put them in the category of being great entertainers. DiCaprio is in the performer category and moreover he has never stopped trying to learn and evolve his craft. He will openly talk about having done certain movies and having felt intimidated by the project. Sometimes because the subject matter was uncomfortable. Other times because they required him to learn things he didn't know how to do. But he trusted the process by doing everything he could to get the right people to teach and prepare him so that he'd be relaxed when it was time to actually make it. I wouldn't go so far as to say he's the greatest of all time, but does he belong on the shelf along side the great actors who came up during the same time as him? To say anything else would be silly, more so from a guy who is more famous for being a Baldwin than any of the actual roles he's played.
As a cinema historian who have seen every actor dead and alive act, yes, Leo is not a great actor. Let me give you an example: Who is a better actor? Leo or philip seymour hoffman? Remember that Philip was working in on such films like 'Twister' as a mere extra and low budget films while Leo was working in Titanic and with scorsese, Success doesn't mean that you are a great actor or know how to act, another example is Dwayne johnson, whom was more succesful than Philip seymour hoffman but if we have to delete Seymour hoffman and leo, historians will delete leo, whom could be replaced by any other actor
Dicaprio isn't on the craft level of Viggo, Bale, Oldman, Day-Lewis, Berenger, Gibson, Harris, Del Toro, Pearce, Hawke, Barry Pepper but his strategy is really smart / safe by always guaranteeing that his films will be of a very high quality before he even starts working on them (Nolan, Tarantino, Spielberg, Eastwood, Zwick, Scorsese, Cameron, PTA, Scott, Mendes) to ensure that even if his performances aren't going to be very memorable, his films at least will be.
@@gg_kinz Yeah it's a smart, low-risk strategy that has given Leo a quality filmography but I do miss the days when not every project had to be oscar-bait and he was willing to work on the occasional popcorn flick (Man in the Iron Mask, The Beach, Inception, Shutter Island).
Im a 28 yo woman and i ADORE Laurence Olivier and my favorite two singers are Robert Goulet and Kathryn Grayson. They don't make movie stars and singers like that anymore. Just wonderful.
funny that Baldwin talking about Leo not being deep and saying stuff about Shakespeare but forgetting that one of the earliest roles of Leo was of ROMEO!!! where he absolutely nailed it, the drama, the romance, the action, the dialogues and the old shakespearian english, and he was how old then, 17? absolutely freakin performance of such a highly detailed character at only that age. and it's one of my fav movies all time. The scene where Romeo reflects on the beach, it s just brilliantly performed. so much emotion there.
The only Baldwin brother who supports Trump while his older brother impersonates him on SNL. I don't necessarily agree with what Stephen said about Leo but he made a lot of great points.
Gary Oldman isn't the best example because he is leagues above most actors in terms of range and chameleon-like ability... but I think Leo does what he is capable of and I personally enjoy his screen presence as an actor
Totally agree with ya brother, cool to know there's peeps out there who give still give my boy Gary Oldman lot's of love. Dude's an all-time great - an actor's actor...... - SID & NANCY - STATE OF GRACE - TRUE ROMANCE - ROMEO IS BLEEDING - LEON THE PROFESSIONAL - DRACULA - BEETHOVEN - HANNIBAL
He is not doing much anymore since he got black listed but Johnny Depp is a love of the game actor, he purposefully looks for the outlandish hard to play characters.
I think he always plays it safe by only playing eccentric characters. He can't play a normal person (everyday father=type), nor could he play an action star. He can only play weird.
@@emmapeel38we could also say that Daniel Day Lewis could never play Austin Powers and Doctor Evil. And Kevin Costner could never play Pee Wee Herman or Beetlejuice.
It's not about a blacklist, he is incredibly wealthy and is just taking it easy and relaxing, I'm sure he'll release something when he wants too, And he won the case hands down,so there wasn't a backlash,
Look, I know art is subjective, but there's no way ......NO WAY Leonardo Dicaprio isn't a great actor. I guarantee you there's more this story than what he's expressing here. This must be personal.
To me, it’s the same way you have some people try to discredit 2Pac as a rapper. My take is many get mad their favorites aren’t called the greatest because of him. Baldwin clearly doesn’t like that his favorites are overlooked while Leo always gets his props.
People are brain dead. They only care about the name, the size of the product. DiCaprio, Cruise, Lawrence, Tatum, Hill, Rogen, etc are just products. 90% of Hollywood actors are NOT actors. They are just being ruthlessly marketed and promoted so that brain less people adore them above everything else, which is terrifying. Marlon Brando was an actor. His passion was the craft. DDL is the same. Hackman, Voight before he sold out, Bogart, Hepburn, Roy Schneider, the list goes on. But who cares..? People today are so dull and distracted and slow that they are at the mercy of trends, names, hype etc. Waste of life if you ask me.
You have no idea what you're talking about. DiCaprio may not be a great person, but he is a great actor. Period. For anyone to say he's not even a good actor, is insane. He would not be working with the best directors (not the most lucrative, the most respected directors) if he was just an okay actor. One of his best underrated performances was in "Catch me if you can" He played a kid conman who you couldn't help but like, even though he did despicable things throughout the movie. Not many actors could have pulled that off, especially starring opposite one of the most likeable actors ever, Tom Hanks.
Leo played some amazing roles. I wouldn't fight too hard to make the point that he's not great. Certainly, he's at the very top and has proved it time and again.
@@Sanderb11 All the greats just play themselves. Pacino is always Pacino, Jack Nicholson was always just Jack Nicholson. They are larger than the movie and even the role they play. Denzel Washington....
No he’s not. An opinion is not always “hating”. This is why folks cannot have real conversations. He believes what he is saying and he’s not hating at all.
Totally agree when it comes to Di Caprio, and finally, someone from the industry says it! I have been saying this for years now!! I'm proud of myself that I NEVER liked Di Caprio!! I never understood the hysteria around Di Caprio! And I'm not just repeating this now, coz now it's a more popular stance, like so many others here, I genuinely NEVER liked him as a person or as an actor, and I have been commenting on this for a long time, you can even found my very old negative comments about Di Caprio here on RUclips. Di Caprio was a good actor in a few movies at the start of his career and later at the beginning of the 2000s, but almost all his later roles, including the most famous ones, are dramatically overrated imo, he was always overrated as an actor, and as a person! He was very good in many roles only because he almost exclusively, only chose projects of the big, great directors, and when an actor has great material to work with, it's not hard to act great, any real actor with experience in the job, would tell you this! The truly brilliant actors are those who challenge themselves and also act in a niche, independent projects, or even in bad movies, but they still shine and are the best things about these bad movies - that is truly brilliant acting, and even Tom Hanks once said so! But Di Caprio never challenged himself as an actor, meaning for the longest time, he only took the projects of very famous directors who are brilliant writers, and directors, especially Scorsese! He doesn't take risks in his job, and that's a fact. His role in The Wolf of Wall Street is painfully overrated, and it isn't even a great movie, there were countless better movies made about Wall Street, with way sharper, smarter analyses, years and even decades before, for example, American Psycho - it's a better, way more brilliant story, a true dark comedy & satire opposite to Wolf, and with truly brilliant acting! Wolf was also, for me, personally, too long & boring, like almost all recent Scorsese movies. As for Leo as a person, I always felt smth is very off-putting regarding his persona, despite all his PR in the mainstream media, and I never liked him. He acts way too childish for his entire life, going after girls half his age, and breaking up with them after a few months or 2 years tops, he doesn't know how to handle mature relationships, I don't even know how the middle-aged crisis would look like for him, as he acts this way all the time! When a mature man can't handle taking care of a family and behaves like a Peter Pan all his life, that, for me, is a very unattractive trait! Leo is also, clearly quite entitled, which this guy here confirms, and Leo is also a hypocrite when it comes to climate change crusade, we all know what I'm talking about. I'm waiting for him to give up his multiple private jets and yachts, so he can finally stop polluting our planet instead of giving us lectures on his Instagram! Plus, as a woman - he was never handsome to me in the slightest! The only nice physical feature he always had are his blue, quite unique eyes, but he still, always looked more like a forever boy and a fop, he was never manly! He has an oval face, without a distinct, masculine jaw and unfortunately, a tendency to gain weight, which usually manifests itself during breaks between filming, he never had a great body/great figure and never really worked on himself! Plus, he usually wears very ugly, casual clothes in his everyday life, so to sum up, Leo, privately, outside of the awards ceremonies, usually looks terrible and like a sleaze! He was never attractive, and it really boggles the mind, that so many girls/women in the past found him hot, or still do today! Di Caprio & his best buddy Maguire are just two ordinary, arrogant, rich jerks!! But of course, it's not true that all actors and A-listers in Hollywood are like this, there are genuinely great and nice ones, and so I support these kinds of people but yeah, they are rare! (my fav actors are Daniel Day-Lewis, Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Paul Dano).
You seem to be very passionate about Leonardo. Very odd. You should look into seeking some help. You seem the type that if you and Leo were at a party, you'd be focused on him the entire night, drawing attention to yourself simply by sending negative, hateful yet palpable vibes to him. He'd be forced to introduce himself just to curb the awkwardness, and you'd go weak at the knees and moist in the groin. He'd go on about his night, enjoying his quite entitled life while you'd scoff, "He's so disgusting!" your obvious attempt to cover up the fact that you're madly in love with the man. You'd be left alone on a couch in a corner annoyed that your feigned disapproval of him wasn't encouraging him to seek out your "unobtainabilty".
I like him, but he tries toooo hard in every role. He is never effortless. I love him best when his acting seems to be the butt of the joke, like in Django or Once Upon a Time.
Exactly, what's happening here is a bunch of value tainment fanboys are believing everything their hero says " bro spittin fax" these guys are just sheep and claim everyone else is the sheep , everyone can tell Baldwin has mental health problems and shouldn't be taken seriously
Unfortunately, a lot of these famous Hollywood actors are narcissists. So it is naturally easy for them to pretend to be something they are not, when playing a role for a movie. They love the money, and they crave attention. It is their narcissistic supply.
Born on the 4th of July is an amazing movie that made me cry SO HARD!! Tom Cruise should have won the Oscar for that - he was nominated but he sadly didn't win. The range he had in this movie blew me way and I was captivated by his performance. Great movie to see with your dad.
haha. Stephen is so into himself. He was always a B or C actor. Dicaprio is definitely one of our generation's best actors. Even as a kid actor he was great.
I think Leo has had moments in various movies when he did great stuff, but I do kinda get what Baldwin is saying here. For some reason when I'm watching Leo act, even in his best performances, I can SEE the acting, does that make sense? You're not supposed to see the acting, but I can SEE him acting, rather than just seeing the character brought to life seamlessly. Doesn't necessarily mean he's a "bad actor" but I do think "overrated" is not too far off the mark.
@@tuanjim799yep I know exactly what u mean. When he’s sad he’s crying and spluttering, and angry he’s yelling so loud. Baldwin is right there is no presence.
@CrazedH2024 It's funny because I thought Brad Pitt was better in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", yet I think Dicaprio has more range as an actor over Pitt. Dicaprio just did his bit of being over-the-top (it gets old, Vince Vaughn could do that too and no one thinks Vaughn is on Dicaprio's level), where I got more from Pitt playing within himself; more along the lines of Steve McQueen (not that Pitt is on McQueen's level). Margot Robbie just walked around with a smile on her face... If Dicaprio was supposed to be a composite of John Saxson and Christopher George, he failed massively; which also falls on Tarantino as well. Dicaprio sure is starting to look like Joe Don Baker though. Who saw that coming?
This is an unpopular opinion, but for many years I wasn't sure if LDC was a truly great actor or just a good actor, who happens to get alot of great leading roles.

For the most part, There is no such thing as good actors anymore. It's all marketing and PR, hypnotizing people into believing it's great. Good Stories, Actors, etc. sell themselves with no marketing.
I understand what Stephen is saying! Everyone needs to listen and then sit back and digest what he’s trying to say! Leo’s a good actor but man there were and are some really great actors! Those who can make you forget your watching a movie and make you believe you’re watching something that’s as real as it can be! You completed forget where you are and that you’re watching a movie. There are very few gifted actors who can do that. When I watched Tom Cruise in ‘The Fourth of July’ with my husband, who had fought in the Vietnam War, I had no idea what those young men went through during that war! I came out of the movie theater that night bawling my eyes out! I couldn’t stop crying, I was uncontrollable! No movie has ever moved me like that one! I’m still a huge Tom Cruise fan! I pray for Tom to meet Jesus and make him Lord of his life! Thank you Stephen!
Tbh I always felt like something was off with a lot of Leo’s movies. His accents are usually trash. Brad Pitt has the same problem. But they’re both usually in well produced movies so yeah 🤷🏿♂️
The only thing off is he is a hearthrob or was, he is a Great actor from what's eating/ and that de niro one, but that 1995 to 1999 is always on my mind in every movie i watch of him, otherwise he is one of the best, also this is the guy Baldwin who's daughter is a nepo baby. My wife and I were just saying this last night! Leo feels like he just memorized his lines, put no study into his character’s story and he’s just trying to act out the lines he memorized. His acting doesn’t suck you into the story like a Gary Oldman or Daniel Day Luis.

You can imagine that Mr. Cruise is very clean! Is there anything else you can find out about him besides his religion? As an American citizen, he has freedom of belief, it doesn't matter what he believes, the important thing is to distinguish between good and evil, I can't say Cruise is perfect, but he is cleaner than 99% of Hollywood stars! What evidence do you have that he broke off contact with his daughter? Suri himself told you that? Or did she make a statement herself?
To deny Leo being one of the best actors of all time and not having depth, cmon man…not that this dudes opinion of art should matter to anyone anyways. But that irritated me lol
Leo is the best at picking movies, but I agree he isn’t a transformational actor. He’s good actor who is in amazing movies. Alliance he has with Scorsese did wonders for him too.
To be honest I dont like none of Leonardo DiCaprio's films. Christian Bale is much better American Hustle (2013) Out of the Furnace (2013) The Dark Knight Rises (2012) American Psycho (2000)
both Micheal Douglas and Brad pitt took big pay cuts just so the movie they were in would have more money in the budget thats love of the game, the two movies im referencing are Snatch and Falling down
Personally he is a great actor, wolf of wall street , blood diamonds, flower moon, Revolutionary Road, Django unchained, Departed. Aside from Michael pitt (sadly unwell) there are barely any new actors who have both the level of depth and boldness to portray characters with such range. We are stuck with trash like Tom holland and timonthee whateva.
Being a star and people looking him is not the same as being a great actor. The funny thing is some of the great actors were never commercially successful.
@@Seanb33ee Leo knows how to pick great projects. He doesn’t do random duds like many big time actors. When he signs onto a project it tends to be quality stuff. He was great in Once Upon a Time & Wolf of Wall Street.
Disagree on Leo. He may be phoning in some movies for money. Buttttt What's Eating Gilbert Grape should have won him an Oscar and it's one of the greatest performances of any actor ever. A Boy's Life that he shot at the same time is that good as well. So is Basketball Diaries. What about J. Edgar or Catch Me If You Can or The Revenant? Dude's a beast.
Exactly. And he is the one that started doing it for the love of the game. The game changed and Leo is still not doing Barbie. This brother should know that Leo's talent and film roles have nothing to do with his private life. Just like he bashed Jonny Depp for not being a great actor. Hardly a side role. But he's right. DiCaprio has a certain presence on screen but lacks the intense charisma or depth of the greats. Why Scorcese thinks so highly of him after he's worked so extensively with true greats like De Niro and Keitel is a complete mystery. Like Sean Penn he’s good but it feels like acting. Whereas Joaquin Phoenix feels like real and genuine.
The Conversation. Hackman's best role.
I completely agree
Such a lie😂! Tom Cruise just does big action movies. Leo takes roles he Knows aren't gonna make 100 million cause he loves the art of it.
@Independent365 Tom Cruise wants to make movies that people see in theaters. Not every actor wants to make serious dramatic films Jackie Chan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Stalone these are action stars.

I came here to say Baldwin is crazy but that was actually a good nuanced answer.
You know Baldwin doesn't believe what he is saying, right? It is called "jealousy"
So when he said his brother is a better actor than Leo you accept that as a fact 😂

Let me give you an example:
Who is a better actor?

You'd be left alone on a couch in a corner annoyed that your feigned disapproval of him wasn't encouraging him to seek out your "unobtainabilty".
what a stupid, hateful comment
Millions of wanna-be actors fail, Leo has been a leading Hollywood actor for a long time. You cant last this long without being very popular.
You hated Leo before it was cool? How cool.
Absurd. I'm no fan of DiCaprio but he is a good actor.
@@sam4soph1 good but not great!
No, he definitely is a great actor 😂
I like him, but he tries toooo hard in every role. He is never effortless.
I love him best when his acting seems to be the butt of the joke, like in Django or Once Upon a Time.
leo is a great actor, stephen is an idiot lol
Well put! I love that movie so much as well. The opening ten minutes when a young Ron Kovic is coming of age is so tender and so beautifully done.
He is indeed an underestimated actor.
Denzel Washington, Daniel Day Lewis, Gary Oldman
Yeah Daniel Day Lewis
Joe Pope
haha. Stephen is so into himself. He was always a B or C actor. Dicaprio is definitely one of our generation's best actors. Even as a kid actor he was great.
Ive seen better soap actors than Baldwin, in fact he ruins every scene, he makes Steven Segal look like de niro
True
Completely agree.
Dicaprio was great in the Tarantino films.
@CrazedH2024 he has charisma big time, that is why
This is an unpopular opinion, but for many years I wasn't sure if LDC was a truly great actor or just a good actor, who happens to get alot of great leading roles.
I'm of the same opinion, I think he picks his films well though.
I would say that Leo was an awesome actor but he hasn't done a lot of really memorable characters. That's the way I see it anyways:)
He works with GREAT or the GREATEST directors in every single film. That's one way of upping your performance.
You’re absolutely right. He works with the greatest directors and gets incredible scripts, but his acting feels very forced.
@@Jay23445 he is a tv actor with a cutesy face just watch Gangs of NY and watch Daniel Day Lewis in any scene with Leo and its night and day the depth of ability!
Whenever people just suck at life it’s “hOLlYwoOD’s mUh fAuLt”
Leo is incredible. He was incredible in Killers of the Flower Moon…and many, many other films. People don’t just love his movies, they love him, and it’s because he’s a great actor.
Great content.. Worked with Steve once. He's come along way since then. Glad to see him being well. Very entertaining..
For the most part, There is no such thing as good actors anymore. It's all marketing and PR, hypnotizing people into believing it's great. Good Stories, Actors, etc. sell themselves with no marketing.
DiCaprio doesn't do much for me. I've always wondered why he is considered one of the top.
same!
He is, hence why he won an Oscar. You don’t just win an Oscar for no reason.
I stated just as my opinion. I'm glad you have a deep appreciation for him.
Theres bunch of great actors out there but holywood allways go for the names rather than a good actors for the role
I completely agree about Tom Cruise. He is the greatest American movie star of all time. But he is crazy about the Leo thing.
Come on he is the last person to be deciding who is the best
Brad Pitt is better but. Like in fight club, snatch. I think a lot of his performances are way more impressive.
@ Oh I agree, in fact I think you just named his two best movies. I just got that fight club video game on ps2 🤣 wild
Watch what’s eating Gilbert Grape, Romeo and Juliet, Basketball ball diaries (just to name a few) films and tell me Leo is not an exceptional actor. Leo is a living legend.
and then came TITANIC and after that........................
@@anna-mariageorgiades3628 His acting wasn’t anything special in Titanic, he was just a pretty face. It’s the history of the Titanic and the cinematography that made the Titanic movie and which made Dicaprio known to a much wider audience.
Not the other way around, he didn’t make the movie.
@@Fein528 Yes I didn't say otherwise. He was the right person at the right time.
😂😂😂 sounds like this guy is jealous of Leo’s success.
My wife and I were just saying this last night! Leo feels like he just memorized his lines, put no study into his character’s story and he’s just trying to act out the lines he memorized. His acting doesn’t suck you into the story like a Gary Oldman or Daniel Day Luis.
He is an amazing actor.
What a hater.....although Gary Oldman is my favorite actor..he's unreal
Dude ..
what's eating Gilbert grape
Basketball diaries
MRv8ns room
The aviator
The beach
Blood diamond
Once upon a time in Hollywood
Revolutionary road
5he departed
Django unchained
These are all great great performances. All different parts..and I could name 5 others.
Can he play Daniel plainview ? Maybe not. But who can outside ddl.
Lithgow is a very underrated actor...
Richochet
Someone should tell Baldwin he needs glasses.. depth? what's eating Gilbert grape.. presence, basketball diaries ? effected ? The Beach...? man, Titanic.. Leo is a phenomenal actor.. wolf of wall street? Shutter Island, Inception? far out brahhh! he has worked with Martin Scorsese who is defined as the last real cinematic old school director ...
His opinion. You cant fight him for that.
Agree!! Also see This Boys Life. Phenomenal acting.
Baldwin is jealous
The Departed
It's almost hard to believe he was serious.
Leo was awesome in the Revenant also. He barely spoke, and he was still great
Leo respectfully is one of the greatest actors of this time
Tom Cruise “detached” from his daughter Suri because she I’d not join Scientology; he followed S’s rule. How wonderful is his character?
that has nothing to do with his acting talent
He didn't go to the diddy party, he didn't do drugs, he didn't smoke, he didn't drink, he didn't have promiscuous sex, he didn't use politics to get attention, he didn't call for the environment while flying a private jet, he did stunts in his 60s, he had a remarkable work ethic, he just wanted to make good movies that entertained people, and the most he was photographed privately outside of work was watching various sports, His private life is healthy, and even jumping off the couch on talk shows can become a reason for haters to hate him.
"Dicaprio isnt a good actor.' -
-Stephen Baldwin, the star of ageless cinematic masterpieces "Bio-dome" and "The Flintstones 2: Viva Rock Vegas"
Wow! There's a story behind this for sure. Leo is an incredible actor..
Leo is great but he hasn't moved me ... I agree with Baldwin when he breaks down his evaluation
To deny Leo being one of the best actors of all time and not having depth, cmon man…not that this dudes opinion of art should matter to anyone anyways. But that irritated me lol
He’s right Leo overacts and has no presence compared to greats. I enjoy his movies but he is no Christian Bale or Viggo Mortensen.
I’ve been saying this for years. Leo’s overrated.
0:30 I have to disagree on Steve on this. They're still trying to touch the most people, just not with their movies anymore. 😳
Leo is the best at picking movies, but I agree he isn’t a transformational actor. He’s good actor who is in amazing movies. Alliance he has with Scorsese did wonders for him too.
why do you think Scorsese has worked with such a hack like DiCaprio?
To be honest I dont like none of Leonardo DiCaprio's films. Christian Bale is much better American Hustle (2013) Out of the Furnace (2013) The Dark Knight Rises (2012) American Psycho (2000)
The fighter
The machinist
Christian Bale IS really good.
Yep Bale is ina different league. That is a great actor which Leo definitely is not.
both Micheal Douglas and Brad pitt took big pay cuts just so the movie they were in would have more money in the budget thats love of the game, the two movies im referencing are Snatch and Falling down
My dad would force me and my brothers to watch Jordan. Never watched basketball after he retired.
Respect for your dad❤😊
Lol😂
Personally he is a great actor, wolf of wall street , blood diamonds, flower moon, Revolutionary Road, Django unchained, Departed. Aside from Michael pitt (sadly unwell) there are barely any new actors who have both the level of depth and boldness to portray characters with such range. We are stuck with trash like Tom holland and timonthee whateva.
DiCaprio is a phenomenal actor. Just watch What’s Eating Gilbert Grape from back when he was a teenager. Unbelievable performance as Arnie Grape.
Lots of triggered fanboys here defending Diddys favorite partyboy 😂
Leo’s box office numbers disagree with this statement. Wolf of Wall Street and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood are fantastic Leo performances.
Being a star and people looking him is not the same as being a great actor. The funny thing is some of the great actors were never commercially successful.
That’s a shallow argument to bring up box office when speaking of great acting. Like the masses know anything anyway. They know what they are told.
@@Seanb33ee Leo knows how to pick great projects. He doesn’t do random duds like many big time actors. When he signs onto a project it tends to be quality stuff. He was great in Once Upon a Time & Wolf of Wall Street.
He's 100% right.
Sorry I have eyes and watched a million movies. Leo is one of the greatest actors I've ever seen
I agree. Tom Cruise is the greatest movie star of all time. Hands down.
They all evolved with cyber and net industry, the industry changed, so did the audience.
He's still stuck in the 90's.
He’s so right. I’ve never thought Leo was that great. Especially in the beginning.
Seriously sit and watch Leo in one of his movies.. watch him as if he’s not “Leonardo DiCaprio” He’s not great… just my opinion.
Gilbert grape is the only one I rate
Leo is very good , really good, but not great actor.
People just hear he is so amazing and then stop sensing themselves and just believe the program
Basketball Diaries, This Boy's Life, What's Eating Gilbert's Grape, Marvin's Room, Romeo and Juliet, Titanic.
Leonardo is the best actor of my generation.
Leo not a good actor?! Well, he does have the right to his opinion. 🤷🏽♂️
DiCaprio used be great. His early stuff was way better. Basketball Diaries was a great fking movie. The issue today is none of these actors give a shit what they do cause streaming ruined quality. Tom Cruise sucks balls. He does nothin except Mission Impossible. Baldwin is drunk with who hes picking good and not good.
I agree with Stephen. I always thought LEO WAS OVERRATED. IMHO
